If you are American or no Mexican, you have to know this is a good place to eat real Mexican and traditional food. You should try a consomé an Barbacoa tacos, campechanos is a good option and green sauce. Also you can order huitlacoche quesadillas or hongos or my favorite is papa con queso. You will love it. Also the aguas frescas are very fresh and flavored with real fruit. And no less important is the cafe de olla. Try it and you will want to come every Sunday here.

Google
Sooo delicious! We recently went on a taco tour through Sac and Lalos was the best of the places we visited. Try the Al Pastor and the Cabeza. The refried beans were so tasty that we had to order a side. The service is friendly and fast. Be prepared to break out your high school Spanish, but that’s how you know it’s authentic. We wholeheartedly recommend Lalo’s! We’ve been here twice in the last 3 days.

Google
Omgomgomg!!!! This restaurant is soooooooo amazing!!! We moved from california to New York and that was the very last restaurant we went to and it did not dissatisfy!!! My favorite dish is literally just the beans on the side. They are amazing. It's a nice vibe and authentic Mexican place. The service is good but could possibly be better if they spoke a little more english. I love this restaurant with all my heart soul and being!

West Coast Dumpsters

Google
I got the barbacoa which definitely tasted fresh which was good but unfortunately my food in specific appeared to have little to no seasoning. I do plan on returning to give it another chance(maybe the chef forgot the spices on mine) but as of right now it wasn’t what I was expecting in terms of flavor:(

Google
Food was authentic and delicious. Customer service was great! Will be back.

Google
The food is phenomenal and the people are really nice. I had the chilaquiles and the flavor was next level delicious. They have real deal tall boy guanabana and other fruit drinks. It's also not expensive.

Google
The staff are so kind and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing! I have already gone back twice in one week. I highly recommend this restaurant! A Mexican friend recommended Lalo’s and it was worth the drive.

Google
The worst barbacoa I've ever had I thought it would be like I remember from South Texas. Where it should be tender and juicy. Their barbacoa was dry, stringy, tough, and expensive. It seemed like it was made last week.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service! The staff was super friendly and greeted us immediately upon entering. We ordered the chicken flautas dinner, 2 enchilada dinners and the Carne asada nachos which were fantastic. The flavors were spot on, absolutely authentic and the portions were generous. I definitely recommend Lalo's for delicious, authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
I heard about this place through the grapevine when asking for Mexican food recs. As far as the authentic Mexican experience goes, Lalo's embraces it fully. The outside signage lacks pedantic word fonts, the interior walls consist of solid warm colors, and they even have a fenced off pebble area that resembles the yard of a quaint desert home. The al pastor and pollo tacos carry an abundance of flavor that you'd typically expect from an authentic restaurant. I liked how the ones here were served quite dry so by the time I added my red and green salsas, they weren't dripping everywhere. I also tried the chicken tamale; a little too dry for my liking, but adding some red salsa did the trick. This establishment gives a cozy and homey vibe that I would like to revisit when I'm nearby again. Great sit-down place for a group!

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Parking lot is quite small and there's some street parking. We always get the Al Pastor burrito and horchata, both are a must!

Yelp
The brunch Bunch decided that we would give Lalo's a go, and stopped in at 10 AM for breakfast. The parking lot is almost nonexistent, and if you decide to go, be prepared to park on the street, down the block, or someplace other than in the small parking lot. The main restaurant has an overflow section, and you may end up there like we did. It definitely feels like an annex and not a restaurant. It's essentially a room with tables, chairs, and whatever basic things they need in the back. The wait staff is super busy, and yet they remain super friendly. Because they are so busy, service will feel slow. People traditionally we'll have breakfast/brunch here on the weekends because that's when they serve Barbacoa. Barbacoa can be purchased literally in either a half pound, a full pound or more. It's served on a large plate, with warmed tortillas on top, and a side of fresh onions, cilantro, peppers, etc. served in a piece of aluminum foil. Essentially, you make your own tacos. Some of the gang ordered the Barbacoa, and generously shared a bite. It's cooked well, but frankly, unless you're adding one of the offered salsa to it, doesn't really have much of a flavor. I would've been disappointed how I ordered it for myself. I just wanted to pack a flavor punch. You can order the consume on the side, and it's served in a big huge suit bowl. It's really more of a bowl of clear broth, and for me doesn't really go with the meat. We ordered the Cubana, and the fried quesadilla. The Cubana is by far the winner! If you're going to have breakfast here, get the cabana. It's a steal of a deal, and is a total taste sensation. The role that it served on is light, airy, and is actually the perfect bread for a Cubana. It's not hard, or hard to bite into. There are so many different layers of meat, cheese, egg, and all of it together made for a perfect bite every time, but it was stupendous. The waiter said that their fried quesadilla is the way to go. We ordered it with chicharron, and it was tasty. It was almost like having a super crispy taco with bigger pieces of meat in it. The meat wasn't as savory as I would've liked, but it was perfectly cooked, and overall it was better than a bland quesadilla. The fried aspect of it made it tasty enough to eat. The Agua Fresca, we ordered was a mixture of pineapple and some other items. It was OK, but definitely needed something more for the flavor profile. It was pretty much a weak tasting drink. It also was super expensive. Almost everyone else at the table ordered the Barbacoa and they enjoyed it. It's just not my jam. Again, it would have been if it was seasoned. This is definitely a neighborhood restaurant, and unless you know about it, it's probably not a place that most people would venture to. But if you're looking for an authentic experience, and a pretty decent deal, you definitely should try Lalo's. Remember, try the Cubana you won't be sorry!

Yelp
Lalos! My friend recommended lalo's years ago but I haven't had a chance to come until recently. My boyfriend and I were craving Mexican food and we wanted to try out different places. The Mexican food scene here isn't great, so we usually go to Stockton for our cravings. Upon arrival, it's right next to an unassuming gas station and the area is a little rough. Don't be fooled though, great food is right through the door! Hands down, one of the best horchatas I have ever had. Good horchata is hard to come by, it's usually too grainy or watery or not creamy enough. Lalo's horchata is fan-freaking-tasting. It was so creamy and perfectly sweet. I could drink a liter of it. Also the price ?! Amazing. I would come here just for my horchata fix. Their al pasta quesadilla is delicious, the meat is seasoned perfectly with bits of pineapple. It goes so well with the cheese and grilled flour tortilla. I have also had their deep fried corn quesadilla but not nearly as good as their grilled flour quesadillas. Make sure to ask for their delicious salsa to go along with your food! Shoutout to their complimentary chips and beans. I dream of those refried beans, it's so flipping good. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The service here is amazing , so friendly and attentive. The seating is spacious & comfortable. The food is delicious, I had a asada sope . My mom had the quesadilla and they both were outstanding. I love how they serve you beans, salsa and chips. The prices are very reasonable. Stop by and check them out.

Yelp
Delicious food! I love the barbacoa and everything else was super tasty (i had an al pastor taco and my husband the breakfast burrito). Couldn't even take a picture because we ate it so fast. Service was great, they were super quick and attentive. Will definitely come back again if we are ever in Sacramento.

Yelp
Their food is very authentic, the fried quesadilla is bomb! My family loved their plates, my father in law loved the fact the meat was tender and not greasy, even the caldo (soup) was not greasy which surprised him, he really loved it. Their agua frescas are so delicious and the melon one definitely gives me flashbacks to my childhood, they make it perfect!! The service was really good, every time we go in they are super busy but they are pretty fast and they make sure to check up on you. It also has a homey feel to it, almost feels like you're at your grandmothers house for breakfast! This place is a must try!

Yelp
Great flavor in food. I added barbacoa to my enchiladas. It's a must try! They were busy but super accommodating.

Yelp
Food was average Mexican. Ordered the popular barbacoa and it was dry and plain. Definitely needed the dipping sauces it came with. You have to order tortilla too separately also. It was served on tin foil. And another tin foil came with onions and pickles. Kinda old. I mean they could have used the paper plates that we got to eat with? Not sure why this dish is so popular. Also got a wet burrito with carnitas. That was better but it had burnt crispy rice instead of white. Not sure if that was normal. Also tasted very grainy. But the seasoning and red sauce was good. Also got a deep fried chicken quesadilla. It was nicely flavored and crunchy with a loaded topping of lettuce. The service was horrible. Unfriendly middle age women that didn't seem to care to serve us. Brought our food out randomly so we ate one dish at a time. It was not busy. When i went to pay the old woman didn't speak English or knew our order and didn't have our order slip so i had to explain what we got. A second woman came to help but still couldn't figure it out. Our waitress finally came over and got the my ordered sorted and took my card to pay. When I got the receipt I realized I didn't have to sign or fill in for tip so I asked, "How do I tip?" Waitress said, "cash". I said i don't have cash, that's why I paid with a card. She got annoyed, threw her hands in the air and rolled her eyes. I just waked away. I did find two dollars in my wallet and left it even though even she was rude. Overall, food was fine. Not sure why the reviews are so high for this place. Must be an off day. Oh well. I won't be back.

Yelp
Best place to go to when craving for Mexican!! I crave this place once a week LITERALLY. I always order a Molcajete & Carnitas plate. It's always the same quality and it never changes every time I order here.
google avatar

Nicole b.

Yelp
Come on, you guys! Like really? I mean, I haven't even tried any of my other food, but literal first bite and it's thins (partial pineapple when there's already not that much on my torta)? Left a bad taste in my mouth!
google avatar

Caroline W.

Yelp
Tried Lalo's for the first time today and loved it! All the meats were so flavorful and delicious! My friend had three tacos with three different meats. They were all great. I got a huarache with carnitas that was delicious and large. I also got a fried quesadilla with picadilla - a seasoned ground beef with potato mixture- that was so good! I don't know what made me order that with all the other meats to choose from, but the seasonings were warm and so delightful. We were so hungry we didn't take pics. I will try to get photos next time - we will be back soon!
google avatar

Ron G.

Yelp
Decent spot for the price but definitely nowhere near the best around. Good setting and a nice staff. I only had the tacos and they were packed full of meat compared to most place around here but the flavor wasn't favorite. Still a good place to come and have lunch or dinner but I would recommend a combination plate if you're dinning in.
google avatar

Ruben R.

Yelp
The outside of place is a indicator of what to expect from food it wouldn't give them justice. Oh boy was I surprised they cook there own beans and rice so refreshing other places skip and you metal can taste in mouth after eating the beans. So many places cut corners hence I get sick afterwards. Nope fresh ingredients no after stomach sickness.

Yelp
Great place and full of flavor ! A small hole in the wall but worth visiting ! All the food was hot and fresh full of flavor ! The service was great and fast ! The ladies that work there are sweet and attentive ! I will be returning for more menu options ! Definitely great for family dinners and large group gatherings.
google avatar

Mikayla M.

Yelp
We got a side of rice and beans, tacos (asada and pastor were my favorites), and horchata. I highly recommend everything I ordered. The service was fast and friendly, and it there are a lot of large tables inside. They have a parking lot but there is also a residential street you can park on. I will definitely come back to try other things.
google avatar

Natalie B.

Yelp
Amazing food and the ladies working were so nice. We found our new favorite place. I am going to let everyone know how bomb it is.
google avatar

Rich A.

Yelp
Best Mexican food for breakfast in the area. I always get it go so I can't speak to the service.

Matt G.

Yelp
Good tacos for sure. A few months back they were $2.50, now $2.75. Good size tacos, good price, it's typically what I get. Once I tried an asada burrito, but it was salty, and I like salty food. It was too much salt though. It was still edible just less enjoyable. Their asada fries are really good. There are a few pleasant woman that operate the place. The inside space is also nice and comfortable. I don't do take out anymore because their tacos are hoooot coming right off that grill and they melt the styrofoam containers they use here. Not healthy! My dumb azz still ate them. But, now I regret those decisions. I wish they had a salsa bar but oh well. They're one of those places that determines which meats get green salsa or red, unless you tell them what you want; that gets old. Overall it's a good place!!

Yelp
Was craving menudo on a Sunday morning and saw on Yelp that this restaurant was super close to me. The staff is friendly and there's lots of seating within the restaurant. I noticed immediately that a lot of the tables were occupied, but the food came out quick! The menudo was really good and it came with a lot of fresh handmade tortillas. The pineapple agua fresca was also delicious and refreshing. I've been wanting to come back here again, but I've been too busy. Hopefully soon!

Yelp
This was my first time here even though I have passed the restaurant for years. I finally went after my mother and I were talking about this last time we passed it. Parking is tight, but I was able to find a spot in the parking lot. As I walked up, I thought that the doors were very dark. But I was pleasantly surprised by all the light when I opened the door. I was greeted as soon as I walked the door. There were several groups of people already eating. I was asked if I was eating in ot taking food to go. As I was asked, Imy eyes caught the fresh avocado being cut for someone's order. When I saw that, I knew I was in the right place. I was given time to look over the menu and decided to order an al pastor burrito with everyone and Carne asada 2 enchilada platter. The burrito was huge., so huge that me, my husband, and son were able to eat from it. The enchiladas were good but needed a little more sauce. I loved how friendly everyone was! I will certainly be back !
google avatar

Ellie Duong A.

Yelp
Very good! Food was great, service was great! They got full house on Sunday. There's also seating in the back
google avatar

Fee Y.

Yelp
Came back after a long time and I am back to being a fan!!! My recent 3 trips have been perfect and a big plus, they don't seem to have raised their prices!!! I was able to get a burrito, chips w/ salsa and bean dip for less than the cost of a burrito anywhere else. I will continue returning!!!

Natalie J.

Yelp
The food here is amazing it doesn't matter what you get. The service is also good but I really love the molcajete is always a fun thing to get but everything is awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
The al pastor burrito super burrito is my go to! One of the best burritos in sac forsure...however, without a doubt they have closed early on many occasions, especially on Thursdays the past two Thurs days (yes, that's when we eat out on a fam forsure and we love it) but we have called around 6 and they have said they're closing early and won't take our order. Otherwise, great spot. Not sure who works on Thursdays but they should have a talkin to. Every other day they're 10/10
google avatar

Steve R.

Yelp
The people here are very nice. The burritos are very good with a fantastic portioning of meat and ingredients and perfectly cooked beans, by far the most consistent and traditional burrito I have had in years. The tacos were also very good with limes included. The complimentary salsa was good and tasted homemade and flavorful. I highly recommend this place especially if you're someone who's tired of all the generic uninspired Mexican food around Sacramento, this establishment will be a breath of fresh air and a taste of great food.
google avatar

Marvin A.

Yelp
Definitely food and service! It's one of the best Carne Asada burritos I ever have! I'm coming back soon!
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Cheap, gives lots of food Enchiladas: a lil spicy, good even distribution of toppings. I like how its not overrun by rice. Beans look like canned refried beans but they aren't ! Tastes pretty good. They give you 4 large pieces. . Tacos: gave good amount of meat, very filling . Super Burrito el pastor: a lil spicy, very full burrito, well packed

Trinity A.

Yelp
Best burritos in town. You can tell they marinate their meats and the rice actually has a good flavor unlike some spots that give you bland unflavored meat burritos on the fly. This is a true whole in the wall, but hits the spot every time. I've only had their burritos, and I have never been disappointed. Everyone that I told about this spot is hooked, and they have been well pleased with other items on their menu. Thank you La Los for being in Sac.
google avatar

Song H.

Yelp
Amazing food! One of the best in the whole Sacramento area. Their Al Pastor is divine, with tons of cilantro and pineapple! Service is fast and the staff is warm and welcoming. Spanish and English spoken. No outdoor seating, but inside is cozy and vibrant. Love Lalo's!
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
Wow! What a great place. People are very friendly and the food is excellent. This isn't a Chipotle or a Taco Bell. You can taste the love that goes into each dish. Prices are quite reasonable and portions are very filling. I can't wait to return. And extra bonus is it's in my neighborhood.
google avatar

Kristy L.

Yelp
Wow. Found my new favorite taco place. I ordered 2 asada tacos, 3 al pastor tacos, and an al pastor super burrito. Everything ordered was delicious but the pastor tacos were the star (but it is also my favorite meat to get lol). Everything was super packed with meat. The restaurant was nice a clean and the ladies the kitchen were very welcoming and quick with service. I wish I lived closer to Lalo's so I could come here more often. 10/10 would recommend!!!
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
Great and fast service. Food is delicious. Beet barbacoa que he probado en sacramento

Frank R.

Yelp
Still does not disappoint! 10/10; food quality and taste is consistent and the location is always clean and very attentive to the customer needs. Chicken flautas have been my go to lately and their barbacoa is still the best in town!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Went to Lalo's during my allowed hour feeding session. Parking was packed. So a full house. We were sat fairly quickly and the staff was super friendly. They were very nice and attentive. Now on to the FOOD!!! The food was amazing. It was cooked just right and it had amazing flavor. The portions are nice sized and I had leftovers. Will definitely return. I give them 5 stars and highly recommend.

Krystyn L.

Yelp
Did I just go on a good day or is the food and service here impeccably amazing?! My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was packed, but we were seated promptly as soon as an available table opened up. They have a huge menu by the kitchen, and by the looks of it, most patrons are regulars and knew what to order because they didn't need any of the paper menus when seated. The server, noticing me struggling to look at a photographed version of the menu on my phone, kindly handed me a paper menu. It's the small things! She was so sweet and friendly when taking our order. We ordered their milanesa torta and tacos (tripa, asada, and barbacoa). The milanesa was so huge that we still couldn't finish it even after splitting it. The barbacoa, only available on weekends, was soooo flavorful. They provided really bomb salsa, but the barbacoa is great by itself. Asada was good, but nothing to write home about. But the tripa? That was a highlight! I asked for them to make it crispy, and they delivered! Perfect flavor and texture, what more can you ask for? Everything was decently priced as well. Torta was $10, tacos were $2.50 each, except for the barbacoa, which was $3. Not bad, right? I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Lorena M.

Yelp
I came in once just for to go tacos. They were a hit with my co tractors and I enjoyed all 4 different types I ordered. They have a lot of the good meats like tripe and cabeza Their weekend offerings of Birria by the pound and a menudo sound amazing and with lining up for as it's very popular and sells out. I went in with my mom who is from Mexico and her husband who is a foodie and everyone was delighted with their selections, pastor tacos, doors and a torta. The lady that served us was so pleasant, friendly and didn't mind answering our menu questions. Great food and a decent price. We'll definitely be regulars!
google avatar

Blanche M.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem. I came across this place from a good friend of mine who loves this place. Definitely go in a crowd or be prepared for leftovers. We usually get their weekend specials whenever we're there. It's their mocajete and another platter that is definitely (chef's kiss). The mocajete has a hot mixture of cheese, chili pepper, beef, chicken, and chorizo. It can be a little salty but when you eat it with a tortilla, very yum. The other thing we order is pork with tortilla. They also have literally made as you order fresh juices. They come in different sizes but be aware the large is really large. Heard of soursop? They got that juice there! This place gets busy on the weekend so try to go when they open or else be prepared for the wait.
google avatar

Tisha K.

Yelp
My go to restaurant for tacos, the best chicken tacos! Everytime we go it's fast service & they make it good everytime! I have been here several times & have no complaints. Their nachos are very good as well & tamales!
google avatar

Dana K.

Yelp
I rarely ever rate anything 5 stars. But Lalos deserves all the praise and love. - Service: everyone is lovely, from past to current employees. And the owner is a sweet lady - Food: We use Lalos as perimeter to judge carnitas and Al pastor from other restaurants. Let's say no one ever surpass Lalos on their best day. I don't eat beans but their chips and refried beans is in a whole different level. Never leave without a Horchata. One of the best

Yelp
I moved to Sacramento almost 6-months ago and while I've lived in this city before, it was near Sac State and also over a decade ago. I absolutely love trying (new) places near me, and I always hope for the best, especially places I can walk to or get to easily on public transportation. I will give y'all a side note, I LOVE Mexican food, I grew up in the Bay Area where I could get amazing food anytime, anywhere. I moved to Illinois in 2021, and no offense, but absolutely nothing was as good out there as the food out here in my home state. My priority upon moving back to Cali was : get a burrito, tacos and tamales. So fast forward to now, I am presenting my review for the (two) carne asada tacos I got today as a To-Go order. I have eaten here before a couple times already, but haven't posted before because I ate the food too quick.. so here it goes! Thank you for checking out my review, just know we all have different experiences and none are the same, this is solely based on my experience. Food (5/5) I have eaten here before and had a carne asada burrito, tacos and a pineapple aguas fresca previously, but this is about today's carne asada tacos that I ordered to-go with regular toppings (meat, onions, cilantro, hot sauce) I did ask for extra cilantro, cause I love it, heck I would have loved even more! I provided a photo of my food and it was just as good as it looks! Perfectly simple and stuck to the traditional way of the street tacos I'm used to. Two tortillas stacked (so four tortillas total), loaded with the filling and a lime (note to ask for any extra if you like limes!) on the side. It was exactly what I wanted/expected/NEEDED! Flavor is amazing, that hot sauce is amazing, if its not homemade then I need to find where to buy it from! Meat, tender, flavorful, chopped up perfectly, maybe a piece or two of gristle, but that's not a problem for me, honestly, if there wasn't any I'd be more concerned. The tacos were exactly what you should expect to be served! Environment (5/5) I walk here since its so close to home. The location is on a busy street (24th ave) in a small strip mall with a convenience mart and a laundromat and is surrounded by a mix of apartments, houses and industrial businesses. The parking lot is small and the street parking is outside, but please don't block the two lanes of traffic or the bike lane, it can be a very serious hazard, and its frustrating to see so many people disregard the signs on the road saying No Parking. This can be a "sit down and eat" or "take it to go" kind of place, so depending on the time you go you may experience parking issues and you have to park in the neighborhood across the street and use the cross walk! Let me also explain, I have never sat down to eat here, it has always been to-go. The inside décor is exactly what you would expect in a neighborhood taqueria, walk in the large-brown beautiful carved door, table seating to the left when you walk in and a few tables on the right where you order. They are exceptionally clean, tables wiped down, floors mopped, counters wiped, machines cleaned, you can see them cook you food and even their cutting boards were clean. Whoever is working at the counter is always pleasant and efficient, if you have questions they can answer them, you give your order and pay, and wait. No complaints here on my end! Price (5/5) I posted their menu with the pricing that is up to date, they do have specials and I don't have any extra photos for those, but I personally feel the prices are completely reasonable, especially for the quality. I spent $5.41 on two tacos today, I used cash, I have used credit before and they didn't charge any extra fees so I appreciate that. I have no complaints on the prices. Overall (5/5) Usually, I type more on my overall but I feel I have covered all the bases on my experience here in all the above! I recommend Lalo's 110%! I am looking forward to sitting down and eating, they don't have a chip/salsa bar like some places (no free chips in a bag, maybe that is the only downfall to the place) but not sure if that has changed over the years. I have been told they do give you them if you sit and eat there so I will be sure to update if that is done! I recommend this place. Two thumbs up. Support local and small businesses!

Yelp
i judge mexican restuarants by the chile rellenos. Lalos has the best chile rellenos i've had in sacramento.

Yelp
This is one of the best burritos I've ever ate. The hot sauce is amazing too. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Mexican spots to go. If you are yelping a Mexican spot and only trying the carne asada and chicken tacos or carne asada and chicken burritos then slap your self. If you are gonna come to a real Mexican restaurant than u newd to try the real deal stuff, order the buche, lengue, cabeza, birria or barbacoa. I've came here a few times and I've had the barbacoa which they are known for. They sell it by the pound and bring it out to u with blue tortillas, grilled Jalapenos and grilled onions, ITS HELLA GOOD!! I would stay away from the white menudo, it tastes poopy and its not really white, its more like yellowish. The chilaquiles are pretty good also and they do serve them with a cooked egg any way u want it. They have fresh juices and agua frescas so make sure u order something too compliment your meal and wash it down. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends so prepare your self to stand in line for a while, once you get in its pretty packed as well specially on the weekends. Parking can be tough but I promise you once u find parking and get a table and get your meal ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT. Check this place out, u wont regret it. If u want asada or chicken tacos just go to taco bell it pretty much defeats the whole purpose of coming here.

Yelp
I ordered a super carne asada burrito ..I'd give it a 7 out of 10 rating. The sauce they put on top wasn't too good.
