Omg!!! This place is sooooo good, yummy! We had the pizza-dilla and quesabirria tacos with the consume dipping sauce. They were both FANTASTIC! We actually came to try tamales but got sidetracked. We will definitely be back. This place is super authentic and has a family feel to it. It’s a little slice of Mexico.

Google
The Pizzadilla is soooo good! And the quesabirria tacos are the best I’ve had, the perfect ratio of meat to cheese. Of course- both come down to the birria and consume- very well seasoned and not too fatty.

Google
My second time here. The food is delicious! The guayana drink is refreshing and tasty. We had to order another round. They have tables big enough to sit my party of 6.

Google
I lived in Mexico for a couple years and then would visit once a year after that. So I know what authentic Mexican food taste like. Since moving up to Northern California it's hard to find authentic authentic tasting Mexican food and this place has got to be my number one spot!! I 1000% recommend this to anyone who loves good food! You will not be disappointed!!

Mike Martin

Google
Absolutely delicious. From the chips and beans, to the quesadillas and tacos, some of the best food, me and the family ever have had. Everything tasted homemade and was amazing. Also, the best hot salsa, I've ever graced a taco with. 11/10.

Yelp
Absolutely the best, tastiest, most soul satisfying menudo I've had in 27 years. I've eaten 1,000's of bowls of the cow stomach soup. I lived in Mexico city 1976 - 1977. I lived in Salinas CA (population of 80% Latino immigrant farm workers) from 1985 - 1998. I know a good bowl of guts when it is put in front of me. This past week I've had two magical experiences. #1: I went to western Sonoma county and walked in the redwood forest for 5 hours. It's an almost religious experience to stroll under the 1,000 year old trees that tower taller than a 15 story building and there are thousands of them. You actually want to whisper to your companion to maintain the reverential mood. Experience #2: Eating this bowl of menudo at La Lupita. Now this joint is low budget. It ain't pretty. You order at the window from the small menu that's posted above your head. It's in Spanish only. No prices shown. The nice lady who took my order seemed quizzical that some northern European old guy dressed in golf attire strolled into the place. After I started speaking Chilango (slang for Mexico City residents) her smile was surprised then happy. She asked if I wanted all the side spices, dried oregano, diced onion, fresh cilantro, limes, and a bowl of chili oil (5 alarm fire hot!). 5 steamy corn tortillas in a basket are included (of course). 10 minutes later the medium size bowl is placed before me. I actually squealed with delight. She laughed. After the first spoonful sip of the broth I knew - This is it! I proceeded to eat slowly and contemplatively. Savoring every mouthful. Bonus. Not first seen in the heaping bowl, down in the bottom is part of a a cow ankle with about 10 ounces of tender soft cartilage attached. It's a struggle to keep clean while conquering the thing so screw it, I decided to go hands on, get greasy and wash up afterwards. Polite folks would be shocked by my table manners. Anthony Bourdain would have loved this place. Guy Fieri hasn't discovered it yet. You can beat him to the punch. Want real Mexican food Sinaloa style? Come here. Open Thurs - Sun. 7:00am to 2:00pm.

Yelp
We were staying the weekend in the area and decided to eat something before our trek to Denios which is a rock throw away. Prior to arriving, when I called the number from yelp the lady answered "bueno" so I look at my phone to make sure I did call the right number. In español, I asked if they had menudo and can add hominy which she said yes. When we arrived the door was locked and it was 9:02. Staff is nice but the menudo lacks flavor, the broth was watering and dont know what it's missing even though I added Salsa, Lime and you know the rest garnishes. Still didn't helped. We waited for a good while closed to 9:30 for the food to arrived knowing we were the first ones there. Probably that's why the flavor is not rich but anywho you gotta prep extra early. Perhaps other items on the menu is good but nah I'm good. Hubby quesabirrias were average and he could of walked to Jimboys for their tacos and that says alot.

Yelp
Amazing hidden gem, and will definitely come back. I had the quesabirria tacos which were bomb and very juicy! Then ordered a simple carne asada taco, my only complaint, the tortilla needed to be cooked a tad bit more. It was floppy and soggy by the third bite. The place is tiny but has lots of potential. Excited to go back.

Yelp
From the outside, it feels like a classic hole-in-the-wall, and the food definitely made a great impression at a time when we were famished after coaching a sports tournament. The menu highlighted different birria options, and their quesabirria tacos were outstanding -- tasty beef, loaded with cheese, and a salty, rich dipping broth. They were also quite filling, and my friend had to take the last taco home. The carne asada burrito was also very good, with a slightly crunchy outside from being toasted on a flat grill. The portion was rather generous, with plenty of well seasoned carne asada, melted cheese, refried beans and other traditional fillings. There was a tomatillo and another spicier red salsa on the table, along with dried Mexican oregano and a couple other dried spices if you want to add. The chips and salsa were also an excellent starter, along with ice cold Mexican Coke. Service was also very friendly and efficient. Easy to order and food came out pretty quickly too. Certainly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
First as I'm sure many were not aware of this Little gem kind of tucked away behind jimboy's and thank goodness because I wouldn't have seen it had I not been going to jimboy's lol. So second the lovely lady at the counter was so friendly helpful generous and I really was happy that she helped give me ice and something to drink on a hot day while I ordered a Berrilla taco which was very affordable was came with some as you or juice on the side and it was wonderful Now I'm waiting for Thursday or Friday to roll around so I can go back and try more!

Gary M.

Yelp
This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in Placer County! I've traveled all through Mexico and this place is an awesome hole in the wall. I felt like I was back in Mexico!!!

Yelp
Friendly staff and amazing food!!! You can't go wrong no matter what you order! Of course if you like menudo, you can't find any better in Roseville!

Kayla D.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I come here almost every weekend and get the best service every time ! The Birria tacos are so amazing we won't go anywhere else for them! I definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't. Not only is the food amazing but the service is great too.

Mallory S.

Yelp
We come here almost every Sunday after hitting up Denios. This is the best most authentic birria in the area hands down. We have been to Mexico several times hunting for good birria only to find that this place is better. Great friendly staff and very clean for being a "hole in the wall." Highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. The queso tacos were a perfect combination of salty, a little crunch, gooey and tender. The rice was the best I've had in years and the beans were full of flavor. Nothing tasted like it came from a can. This will be my new go to for Sinaloan Mexican.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Don't let the outside fool you!! This place is sooooo good. Love the small hole in the wall vibes. Absolutely a hidden gem. Being Mexican, I am very harsh on my ratings of Mexican food. I judge a place by their carne asada. Carne asada can be so basic so if you can make it flavorful that shows you care and are authentic. This carne asada was delicious! The salsa was great as well. My only note is the chips were thick and dry but easily overlooked given how great the food is. If you're looking for some good tacos look no further!
google avatar

Anastasia C.

Yelp
The outside is a little sketchy but the food and service make up for it! Everyone was super nice and attentive. The food stole the show! To start, they bring out homemade chips, insanely good bean dip and a variety of authentic salsas. The beans are SO GOOD, the flavor is outta this world! I got the enchilada plate with shredded chicken, birria, and carne asada. The chicken is a MUST-TRY! Everything else was delicious too!

Yelp
I was here a few weeks ago and I had a really good experience. I just got off work and wanted to rush there to get some birria, and we came in a few minutes before closing and they were happy to serve us. We stayed 15 minutes after closing and finished our food, but they were very kind and brought us free chips and beans & gave us free bottled water. We ordered Quesabirria and they made them delicious and it was one of the best I've had I can't wait to go again. Highly recommend. Super yummy food & cozy environment. Very welcoming

Yelp
All I can say is WOW! We had read about this hole in the wall and came for a late breakfast one morning last July. My son and I were visiting my mother and were determined to find the best Mexican food in the area. Based on the reviews here, we settled on La Lupita and were not disappointed. We started with an order of rich, chorizo-infused queso followed by a couple plates of intense and flavorful chilaquiles topped with two over-medium eggs. My son is an epic eater, but could hardly finish his order (though he did). Huge portions! I relished every bite knowing I coudn't dream of getting anything this good where I live. I've had my share of chilaquiles in my hometown Los Angeles and these were hands-down the best. The rich, earthy, fruitiness of the chiles came through loud and clear, balanced by copious melted queso blanco and crumbly cotija cheese. My mother ordered their signature pork barria tacos which reminded me of a Mexican-style french dip. The food was universally beyond our expectations. This is a woman-owned business, and she is working hard and doing great things. Modest atmosphere, but spectacular food! I can only apologize for using so many superlatives and exclamation points in describing this place (Sorry!). It was great. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place is a real "Hole in the Wall". But the food was another level. It's Sinaloan cuisine!! The beans have green olives inside, I know. Sounds crazy .... But it works. If you don't put olives in my beans, I don't want them . The salsas were slamming. I loved the medium chunky one and the green one in the yellow bottle . The tacos were heat, they didn't double the corn tortillas like most places and I appreciate that because I watch my carbs. Oh ya, the chips were homemade. Thick, but warm airy and crispy. The service was really good as well, seems like a family . Nice people working inside. We will be back!!

Megan B.

Yelp
Super good, best breakfast burrito I've ever had and I've had a lot. My spouse hasn't had this good of chilaquiles since we were in Mexico. The beans were a little greasy but also the best we've had, all flavor.

Yelp
I've lived in Roseville my whole life so how have I not seen or heard of this place before ? I went there for lunch with my mom, sister and son. We got the birria tacos! They were absolutely amazing. Best I've had. The lady working at the register was very kind and patient with us (gringos trying to understand the menu). She took great care of us. The queso birria tacos were full of delicious meat with cheese and cilantro and onion. Perfect ratio of cheese to meat. The birria broth was the most flavorful broth I've tried. We also got the rice and beans which were also delicious. I can't wait to try more items here. The prices aren't bad at all. I will definitely be coming here more often. It's just a small spot by Denios auction. Seems to be family run. I love to support small businesses like this, especially when they have the best birria tacos in town.

Alex M.

Yelp
Ordered take out again and this place doesn't disappoint. Tried the carne asada burrito and pollo tamale; WOW! I think this place would do extremely well on Uber Eats or DoorDash, as well as if they were open during the week. I would ear here at least once or twice a week!

Yelp
This place is a great place for lunch. Simple and yet authentic. Delicious Burritos and the rice was delicious as well. Come try for yourself..

Yelp
I love this spot! I am incredibly picky with Spanish rice and really like theirs. I love the breakfast burritos - soooo good!

Yelp
I was stoked to try this place as I'm on the hunt to try as many brirra tacos that I can till I find the absolute best! Came in late on a Friday. This place is 7 minutes from my house so I was exited to try. Walked in to the empty but tidy shop and placed my order for 3 brirra tacos from a friendly young man. The food took about 10 minutes or so and was served with chips and a cheese sauce and a side of onions and cilantro. And I was able to eat inside. Eating in a restaurant always feels like a treat since covid. The tacos were beautiful and I loaded them up with cilantro and onions before I dipped them. The staff checked on me a few times which was very considerate and awesome customer service. Minus one star as the meat was a bit tough! Maybe it was an off day. I'd love to give them another chance in the future.

Julie M.

Yelp
Hands down the best Chilaquiles I have ever had!!! The quesobirra tacos and horchata was excellent as well! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jaime L.

Yelp
Service bad...came in to order 6 tacos to go. 45 minutes still no tacos! Ain't coming back ever! Asked 4 times about my order and server said she would check but she never returned with status. She just ignored me. There were several people that ordered after me that got their meals...the guy in front of me got his order to go but mine wasn't ready for another 40 minutes. They weren't even busy! There's plenty of competition elsewhere in the local area so that's were I be going from now on.
google avatar

Jeannette O.

Yelp
We love their Quesabirria!! It's so delicious! We haven't had a chance to eat in the restaurant. We try to order take out every week! The staff are super friendly. The Birrias always hits the spot when I have a food craving! I haven't tried the rest of the menu but our favorites are the Birrias!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Had the Birra and it was fantastic! Place is so small and it was very hot inside. All the outside tables were taken. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Leeann B.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! The birria tacos were EXTRAORDINARY. I got two of the comsumes, witch was a great idea. The customer service was great as well, as me and my daughter were waiting on of the workers came and gave her a free drink with a straw. It was very sweet, and made her entire day! Love love love this place. Will be coming back to try more

Yelp
EXCELLENT..... all the way around! Tacos Birria? Yez! Carne asada tacos? Yez! Great staff. Quick service. My new go to restaurant for Mexican food!
google avatar

Yelp
Was craving BIRRIA tacos after doing nothing all morning on tiktok. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! SO DAMN GOOD!!! The amazing people here put their whole p**sy into these BIRRIA tacos!! So good!! Super friendly staff. Everyone please support them. Let's make their business blow up! 100% recommend.
google avatar

MJ G.

Yelp
What a complete surprise! While visiting Denio's someone recommended this place right down the street within walking distance. Ordered the Birra tacos and they were fantastic. The best I've had in a long time. We sat outside in the back and was worried we would be forgotten. Nope! The service was outstanding. Everything we tried from the tacos to sweet tamales and the fresh Agua Fresca. Was delicious.

L. S.

Yelp
I ordered beef birria tacos and bit on a bone in one of them! My order took a long time and it was barely warm. People who came after me were almost done with their food before I even got mIne, and I noticed one of them ordered the same as I did. I don't want to say why.

Yelp
LaLupita is located on Atkinson Street, on the grounds of the long-defunct Joseph's Auction Yard, in a building that is a little worse for wear on the outside. As of this writing, the restaurant has only been open a week! You may recall Maron's Restaurant, now closed, and has morphed into LaLupita Mexican Food. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted with the counter, along with a white board that has the limited menu. You place your order at the counter, but like a sit-down restaurant, you sit down, and when ready, your order is brought to you, and you pay at the end of your meal. LaLupita seems to be very proud of their refried beans, as there is a sign at the counter, with a cartoon bean character, promoting the delicious refried beans the restaurant serves. The word "beans" is also part of their email address! As you enter the restaurant, you're greeted with a white board, which serves as the menu. The restaurant doesn't have a printed menu. I asked a staff member, and I was told they plan to occasionally change the menu selections, so it's easy to make changes on a white board. This is definitely "old school," but it makes sense and it works for me. There are actually two dining rooms, separated by the order counter, and the kitchen behind the counter. The dining rooms are spacious, clean, sparsely decorated, but recently painted. By the looks of the dining room, I'd almost think I was in Mexico. I LOVE it!! The birria was absolutely amazing, as it was juicy, tender and flavorful, without being spicy. In fact, this is probably the best birria that I've enjoyed north of the border. This fine Mexican diner doesn't skimp, as the portion is very ample. Birria, which is a goat stew, is a very popular dish in northern Mexico, and you'll find it in a bowl, as a thick stew, as a topping for tacos, or on a plate, such as I enjoyed today. Like menudo, there is a long preparation time, and birria is normally only available on weekends, which works, since LaLupita is only open on weekends. If you've never had the pleasure to enjoy birria, I'd recommend you stop by and enjoy. I've never enjoyed Mexican rice prepared like LaLupita's before, as it included small cubes of carrots, which added a unique taste. The rice was perfectly cooked, tasted wonderful, and complimented the meal. LaLupita prides themselves on their refried beans, and I can understand why, as they're simply amazing. I have reason to believe they are cooked in lard, the way it's done in Mexico, which gives the beans an amazing taste and texture. If you're a member of the "health police," you might ask Sylvia, or one of the other staff members about the beans. I have a hunch if you preferred, they'd be happy to substitute "pot beans," as that's where refried beans begin. Whatever the case, I absolutely LOVED the beans! The amazing meal was rounded out with a stack of warm, toasted corn tortillas, presented in a tortilla dish, wrapped in a towel, just like you'd fine in a Tijuana loncheria. It is interesting to note the yellow and red plastic squeeze bottles, as you'd think they have mustard and ketchup, which would be totally out of place in a Mexican diner. The yellow bottle contains green sauce, and the red sauce is in the red bottle. I tried a little of each, and they're both delicious and flavorful, and I'd rate the "heat factor" as medium-mild. If you're at all sensitive to spicy food, I'd recommend trying a drop or two before making a commitment. Even though it was a little past 10 in the morning, I grabbed an icy cold Modelo beer from the cooler, as there is nothing in my book that goes better with fine Mexican food than a cold Mexican beer. The only oddity I noted was that I didn't get a bowl of tortilla chips and salsa as an appetizer, as is the norm in most Mexican restaurants. I didn't bother to ask the staff, as it really didn't worry me. As an aside, near the end of my meal, I was offered another stack of corn tortillas, but I declined, as I was nearly full. This was a delicious meal from a great restaurant! LaLupita Mexican Food is an absolutely wonderful restaurant, as the food is delicious, the staff is super friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the location is great, as it's just across the street from Denio's. On weekends, when you're in the mood for delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine, be sure to pay a visit to LaLupita Mexican Food, as they're a welcome addition to the Roseville dining scene. Don't be fooled by the shabby exterior of the building, or the plain dining room, as this restaurant is 5-star all the way! The food is authentic Mexican and amazing, the staff are super friendly, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended by me, a dedicated Roseville "foodie!"

Yelp
Very good quesabirria tacos!! The steak tacos are bomb too!! I didn't like the corn in the rice tHats why it's 4 stars. Very good service and the food came out fast!

Yelp
My family comes from Mazatlan and i was looking forward to this place and i really wanted to like it, unfortunately it failed in every way. First thing i noticed was the ac was off, this is Sacramento in the summer at 2 pm and its in the mid 90's...maybe because of the economy you need to save some money so you get a pass. I look at the menu (my abuelita w/no formal schooling could write clearer) while every employee is huddled together at 2 tables talking. i check to see if there is anything different than what i saw on their website and there is not so i ordered my usual first time order. Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant for the first time i order tacos/beans/rice so i can taste a few different meats (usually carnitas, asada & chicken - no one can mess those up) and the rice & beans tell me if everything else will be good (good rice/beans=good everything) I ordered 3 tacos (birria $3.95, asada $2.75, chicken $2.50 & a corn tamale $2.49). My total was $15.46, which is way off from what it should have been no matter how it was calculated. I hadnt payed any mind until after my meal, if the food had been better i could have looked past it. If the food had been better i would even have paid more. I turn around to sit down and wait when I notice that the place across the street and the person under a pop up tent also selling food are both busy and here its empty and i got suspicious but hey, its a little pricey for what it is, maybe thats why so i sit and wait. And wait, and wait, and wait...long enough read some news articles and to set up a Robinhood account as well as connect a checking account to the app...takes a while but great tasting food is worth it and the pictures look amazing. Its the covid era and while I am sitting waiting I notice that the cook is wearing his mask half off (great no protection for me). Then I notice that none of the ladies working there are wearing masks at all as one rubs her nose and then hands the cook foil...well its too late now. Phew none of my food had foil so hopefully I'm safe but someone out there may be in danger. I get home anticipating a great meal from a new (for me) place. I did get tacos but opted for a tamale because tamales are on the rarer side. Being tacos durados and not street i expected (lettuce, tomatoes, cotija & crema) in addition to onions, lime and cilantro but the latter is what I got...no worries, this way I can focus on the great taste of the meat...the chicken was dry & bland as was the birria and the asada which was particularly bad because of its low quality. Nothing was seasoned well and everything was dry including the tamale de elote which made me cough it was so dry. I wish there was something positive i could say but this was my first and last time patronizing this restaurant i see no reason to return. There is nothing in the area that is jaw dropping but there are plenty of decent alternatives.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Awesome service. Everyone is nice and accommodating. My daughter was with me and they treated her like family.

Yelp
This place is so good! Best beans in Northern California. This would not be a place for the upscale folks but people that like authentic Mexican food. The only reason that I give this restaurant four stars instead of five because it literally is a tiny little restaurant (the ambience isn't there). And the prices are a little steep for such a small place. But the food is so good! My father used to bring me to this restaurant when I was a little girl.

Teresa G.

Yelp
The food is good, but the very high price - over $40 for lunch for one - and the fact that I had to go back and follow-up for my beverage after I was partially through with my meal - means I won't be back.
google avatar

Pierce S.

Yelp
We spend a lot of time in Mexico but always have trouble finding authentic Mexican food when we are back home. LaLupita was a great discovery today. Feels like Mexico when you step inside. Excellent fish tacos from Sinaloa and equally good Tamales Oaxaquenos. Prices are right and after eating the pair, we are just starting to get hungry tonight. The spice is just perfect. Excellent and very friendly service. Nice resin topped tables and everything is clean. They are located only a block from Denio's Market in Roseville. Park across the street on in a lot on the side of the building. Excellent, excellent, excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, service is ok. I just had to wait a while to get my order but definitely would give them another try.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Damm quesibirrias I've ever had in all of California, and I've had a lot from the bay to LA. Micheladas are bomb as well and the pulp they use is amazing not the cheap quality chamoy. Most importantly the customer service was great. Definitely will be visiting this place frequently. This is Rosevilles authentic Mexican hidden gem.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Best Birria tacos in Roseville!!!!! Love the atmosphere!!! Will be coming here forever
google avatar

Carson K.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. You gotta take it from me, this has to be the best Mexican food in Roseville. You can't miss out. The Birria is absolutely delicious and you'll love every bite. I've had a lot of Mexican food in Roseville but nothing like this. Thumbs up.
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommend, birria tacos are good and the consomé is very tasty. Worth the wait in the weekends. Stop buy and try them.
google avatar

Lucero O.

Yelp
LaLupita is gold. The birria de chivo is so so good!!! They put so much work to make the food on point!!! I love the dry Chile pequin and the red salsa!

Yelp
The best authentic food around. I stopped here to support local business but got hooked on the tacos and excellent service!

Yelp
Sorry for my terrible spelling! But the food really is amazing! I try to come here every weekend.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my partner and it was absolutely amazing! Mouthwatering food, great atmosphere as well as a very friendly staff! 10/10 would definitely recommend that you stop by and check it out!

Yelp
The very best Mexican food Roseville has to offer, small place with big flavor. Absolutely everything I ever ordered is fantastic!

Honest A.

Yelp
You have to try this place. The owner makes the best refried beans. And these beans are not just your regular beans. They are Excellent and lots of flavor. I totally recommend this place. This place it worth the drive. It's down the street from Denio's flea market.
