Problem with Westminister/Garden Grove during the weekend is that traffic is typically congested and parking is bad. It's time consuming to go to multiple places for food pickup. With that being said, I am giving this place a solid 4. Yes, I understand some of their items would not be the best in general, but overall they are pretty solid. The way I would describe this is that if you are throwing a party/potluck and need to grab food in ONE place, Lam Van and Kim Phuong are my main two destinations.
I have ordered a bunch of items from them before:
* Banh Beo - the texture is pretty soft (not soggy). It's not super sticky either which is pretty good.
* Banh Boc Loc - Huong Giang is prob the best place for this, but Lam Van does it pretty well. The only thing is that their Banh Boc Lot is sticky and it's a bit harder to take out than Huong Giang. This is probably because they put less oil.
* Spring Rolls (nem) - I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of their spring rolls unfortunately. The Nem was nothing to rave about.
* Spring Roll (Goi Cuon/Shrimp) - This one is a hit or miss. Sometimes in the packaging, I see the rice sheet break, but I would probably order this over Nem Cuon.
* Beef Rolls - this one was pretty solid and I would recommend this.
There is one thing that annoys me is that they are cash only business. So remember to bring cash or go to the Bank of America in this same plaza. Maybe it's because this is a common practice in Westminster, Garden Grove, and San Gabriel Valley, it's deemed a norm for me. I understand some of the bad reviews in regard to this, but I am able to tolerate it.
Overall, I feel that this is solid place for folks to do "catering takeout" and I do plan to come here again.
