This restaurant offered an interesting meal with some great dishes showcasing impressive technique. The artichoke starter and fish main course were the standouts, arguably the best plates we have had during our trip to Nantes. The service was also great, especially from the friendly and attentive younger waiter.
However, some of the other dishes were let down by one simple issue - the ripeness of fruits. The firmness of the fruits in the tuna starter didn’t complement the extremely delicate fish, but worse were the apricots in the dessert. The flavours of this dish were fantastic, and the oregano sorbet was a revelation (I’ll definitely make this myself at home). But crunching down on an underripe stone fruit, with the texture of a crunchy apple in a furry skin, was just unpleasant. I suspect this dish will soon be rotated out as we near the end of the French apricot season, it is just disappointing for us that this wasn’t done in time for our visit.
