"Similar to Chaweng, but somewhat quieter, Lamai Beach offers a mix of relaxation and entertainment. It has a beautiful coastline with a mix of rocky areas and sandy stretches. The beach is known for its laid-back ambiance, making it suitable for both families and travellers looking for a more peaceful experience." - James Whiting

Lamai Beach was a good spot for a swim. The water was clear and calm when I went. It was easy to just float around and relax. It wasn't too crowded either, so I didn’t feel like I had to dodge people all the time. Overall, a nice and simple place to spend a few hours in the water.

A nice quiet beach with lots of great restaurants cafes and massage places. It’s a lot more relaxed than most other beaches on Koh Samui

Beautiful beach, lots of places to hang on the beach. Whether placing down a towel or renting a beach chair for 100 baht. The sand was white and soft. Tons of restaurants and massage places. We stayed right on Lamai beach for 7 nights. My only issue was the rough water. Every day the waves just pounded you. They would knock you down and drag you in the sand. Not very relaxing and not good for small children or bringing any floaty devices. The sun rises here so have to watch where you go as gets shaded in the afternoon. Have to keep moving your towel. No sunsets on this beach.

Extremely dirty, rubbish on the sand, rubbish in the sea, covered in tourists. Definitely one of the worst beaches on samui. Although it's a beautiful place to watch the sunrise

Gorgeous beach with plenty of space so never felt crowded, lots of choices of bars and restaurants but also stretches of just sand and sea to enjoy - also much cleaner than some of the other beaches visited on the island

Lamai Beach in Koh Samui is a great destination that offers a mix of natural beauty, relaxation, and vibrant local culture. Known for its soft white sand and crystal-clear waters, it is less crowded than nearby Chaweng Beach, making it ideal for those seeking a more tranquil experience. The area features a range of accommodations, from budget-friendly bungalows to luxurious resorts, as well as excellent dining options, including beachfront restaurants serving authentic Thai cuisine. I loved the food.

Beautiful and clean beach. Strong waves at times. Good restaurants on the beach to stop at and have a fresh coconut or even use their beach chairs. Most just require that you are a customer. Not crowded at all and would reccomend over chaweng.

Good long beach. Some places are great beach areas with lots of seats and food and drink. Others, the beach, narrow and some spots are not clean. The best areas are in front of hotels as they tend to clean up the immediate beach area.
