"Reimagined by chef-owner Hieu Trung Tran in 2022, Lamai Garden serves a seasonal tasting menu and vegetarian menu in line with a contemporary Vietnamese farm-to-table concept. Diners pass through a garden to the dining area with counter seating by the open kitchen. They use ingredients from their Phú Thọ farm – garden herbs, ducks and black pigs. The squid "noodle", inspired by phở chua, highlights the chef's creativity. Only open for dinner; reservations are a must." - Michelin Inspector

The restaurant is surrounded by green gardens, which creates a tranquil, peaceful view from the glass windows/front doors. Love most of the food. Each dish was well balanced in flavor, making me WOW as I slowly experienced the burst of tastes with every bite. The staffs were supportive and helped explain all the ingredients of the food effectively. There were only 2 things to enhance if I had to be critical tho. First, the standing fan doesn’t match the elegant look of the interior furniture 😅. Second, the plating of some dishes could be more refined and I was not entirely impressed with the main rice. Overall, great experience. They totally deserve the Green Star!

My highest compliments to the chef and the entire team for delivering such an exceptional dining experience. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the restaurant's stunning garden surroundings, a truly lovely and unexpected surprise. The warm hospitality set the stage for a meal where I thoroughly enjoyed every dish (maybe except for the hay sorbet which contradicted the other refreshing taste). The menu, while clearly celebrating summer, struck a beautiful balance with refreshing flavors and themes throughout. I chose the non-alcoholic pairing, which was equally exceptional, with each drink thoughtfully complementing the food. Both the dishes and drinks were rich in umami, leaving a delightful, lingering aftertaste. By the third course, I was completely full and had to ask the kitchen to slow down the pace. The food was so delicious that I found myself scraping every last drop on the plate, forgetting my fine dining etiquette. I was so enthralled that I have been using my hands and lifting the bowl to devour every bit. After the meal, I found myself wondering if this might be the best meal I'll have in Hanoi, despite it being my very first restaurant visit of the trip. My palate has been thoroughly and wonderfully indulged.

Agree with everyone else, this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. The restaurant is tucked into a side street with a cute front garden where they grow their produce. I love the idea of a seasonal menu, and for dinner we had the spring menu. The service was impeccable, the degustation was set at our dining pace so we didn't need to wait for long in between courses. My favourite dishes were the charcoal black pork, the fish with the cold sauce, and the flower dessert. I wanted a modern Vietnamese restaurant that is not touristy, and Lamai Garden delivered 100%.

The staff were so lovely, the food was outstanding. The duck was the best duck I have ever had! The whole experience with the paired wine and sake was brilliant.

Lamaigarden is an exceptional restaurant in Hanoi! It's concept and the food are outstanding and would have definitely deserved one Michelin star at least. The combined flavours in every course are a unique form of taste. The presentation of every course, the explanations of the fantastic staff about them plus the friendliness and quiet location makes it the best food experience I had in my many visits to Vietnam. Thanks for that! I'll be back for sure.

Finally had the chance to dine at Lamai Garden and it was such a great experience. The place was quiet and cozy with simple but elegant decoration. We had the Autumn menu and found the food to be at the same level as the Michelin restaurants in HN. Dishes we particularly loved are fish ceviche, squid noodle and wild duck. The staff were lovely. Will come back here to try the new seasonal menus.

Wow. First off, nuoc mot inspired juice was incredible. Every dish was a delight. Their winter veggies, eel handroll, and the goat meat were the highlight. Each has an exotic twist to their distinctly viet taste. Familiar, homey and foreign at the tip of your tongue. Top quality veggies. Trust, you’re better off spending money here than on a ton of other places around the city. Overall, a great intro menu to some seasonal viet dishes at a fair price. Must go if you’re a big citrus and veggie person.

Lamai Garden was one of, if not the very best dining experiences I've had in Hanoi. Stepping through the doors is like stepping into a different era, one steeped in peace and tranquillity. Everything's in perfect harmony, from the lush garden to the elegantly laid tables, and the ambience inside is simply spectacular. Our waiter, Trung, made the whole experience even more delightful. He, along with the rest of the staff, was impeccably trained and utterly unflappable, a stark contrast to the frenetic pace of life on Hanoi's streets. This was a truly relaxed dining experience, a welcome respite from the city's hustle and bustle. THE FOOD The head chef is nothing short of a genius. Most Vietnamese dishes feature boiled vegetables, often overcooked to the point where their natural flavour is all but obliterated. But at Lamai Garden, you get to experience local vegetables in their purest form: crisp, light, and bursting with freshness. Straight from their own garden, mind you! The fish dishes were exceptional, particularly the ones that incorporated star fruit's unique acidity. Each course was meticulously balanced, adhering to the five fundamental elements of Vietnamese cuisine. And to top it all off, the prices were remarkably reasonable. I'll definitely be back to try their summer menu. This restaurant truly deserves all the success it can muster. Cheers, Roche.
