I visited Lamajoun Turkish Restaurant for the first time and was genuinely impressed. The food was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor — easily one of the best Turkish meals I’ve had in the area. I also loved the unique setup where you order downstairs and your food is sent upstairs by a small elevator — such a fun touch! The only downside is that if you want to order more, you need to go back downstairs, but the quality of the food definitely makes it worth it. I’m so happy to have found such a great Turkish spot nearby. Even if I am far from here I come back whenever I missed Turkish food .

Amazing food. Great staff. Inexpensive prices. We were there for the first time today. Absolutely delighted👍👍👍. We'll recommend it to all our friends🔥. It turns out there's a dining room on the second floor where you can sit comfortably and eat. We thought there were only tables outside, but we were pleasantly surprised. Chicken shashlik, pork shashlik, khachapuri... There are vegetarian dishes too. everything was delicious😀👍👍👍.

Delicious experience here as usual. Their lavash chips were a great start to my meal. Both the khinkali dumplings and pide cheese tasted great and were huge! Make sure you drink the soup broth in the dumpling before you fully cut it open. Their kvass is a refreshing drink on a hot day. They also offer a wide range of desserts. Their dumbwaiter brings your order directly upstairs to the dining area, so you don’t need to make a second trip up the stairs. The friendly staff make you look forward to your next visit.

Amazing freshness in the spinachy green filled fresh bread and the soup dumplings must be so good too but would have been about a 20 min wait. Individual ones weren't available to order on doordash and other items were priced higher there too so better not to order thru that. Extremely friendly service too. Hope to get a chance to visit again even though it's at a pretty special location

This is THE hidden gem! So many people were telling me that there is no good place to enjoy Georgian or Armenian cuisine in Vancouver and around. And then… same as me crazy-obsessed foodie friend, recommended this place and the quality of life in Van drastically changed! Just in about 30 minutes my soul traveled back to Armenia and then Georgia, and came back. The service was excellent, the food is simply fantastic! Trust me, I’ve been to many places and these ladies do know how to cook. One love ❤️

I visited this Turkish restaurant with my family for a holiday dinner, hoping for a warm and flavorful meal, but unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways. We ordered quite a variety — cheburek, lahmajoon, a beef kebab wrap, chicken thigh and grilled peppers, lamb chops BBQ, lamb soup, and a salad. The seasoning was generally excellent across most dishes, especially the lamb chops and lamb soup, but the beef kebab wrap was noticeably bland and lacked the rich flavor you’d expect from Turkish cuisine. The bigger issue, however, was the overcooking — nearly all of the grilled items were dry and tough, losing their juiciness and making them hard to enjoy. Customer service was another letdown. There was virtually no table service or hospitality, yet we were prompted to leave a tip before even sitting down or being served, which felt quite inappropriate. To top it off, the atmosphere was unpleasant, with heavy kitchen smoke filling the dining area, making it uncomfortable to sit and eat. Overall, while the menu has potential and some dishes were decently seasoned, the execution, service, and environment made it a disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend it unless major improvements are made to both food preparation and ventilation.

Pretty tasty food with generous poritons. The service was an elevator which was fun and the people who took our order were very friendly. I would suggest trusting their suggestions. We tried the grilled chicken,beef kebab,and lamajoun, which were all great. Ayran also tasted homemade which was delicious.

I loved Lamajoun. Visiting from LA, I planned well in advance to come to this establishment and support. The food was really good. I liked that the zhangyalov bread was mostly herbs and not dough; they did a great job using a thinner layer of bread. The grilled veggies were fresh, loved the eggplant, and the lavash hit the spot. It's hard to find legitimate lavash when traveling. And of course, no meal is complete without some coffee. The owners were amazing: kind, friendly, and hospitable and the venue relaxing. I recommend highly.

Ahhh I'm so glad I finally got to try this hidden gem in the industrial area in Richmond! This café is quite difficult to spot and unassuming but it packs the story of a wonderful Armenian family who cooks with their souls and provides heartwarming food for its patrons. As someone who eats East Asian food all the time, my goal for this upcoming year is to try more variety of food from different countries. My friend and I came by on a weekday for lunch and made a few choices based on the owner's recommendations. We picked the lamb soup and chicken thigh BBQ - the owner was kind in letting us know that the chicken was prepared to order and would take a little longer than usual. There is additional seating upstairs and the food arrives through a super cool elevator chute! I generally dislike lamb but to my surprise, the lamb soup was fragrant and hearty. My friend loved the soup and said it was the type that cures colds and is perfect for warming you up on a cold fall day. The soup was also packed with chickpeas, potatoes, and pieces of lamb. The chicken BBQ was a generous portion of well-seasoned chicken in the house-made lavash bread. I liked the pickled peppers and the tzatziki sauce. The chicken was flavourful and tasted tender and fresh. Overall, this was a lovely experience and I found the food hearty and healthy. I would love to return!

We came on a Saturday at 2pm and there were a few empty tables. We got a couple of items to share. The food took awhile to arrive by elevator. Be warned it can get quite hot upstairs. Our favourite was the pide cheese. It was the most visually appealing and also tasted the best. Loved the bread and the cheese combo. Doesn't get better than that. The other ones we tried all tasted similar to it. I would skip the beef wrap and the pizza and just stick with the pide cheese We also tried the napoleon and it isn't your standard puff pastry napoleon. It wasn't crispy but it was still made with layered pastry and custard. Not my cup of tea Overall service was super friendly. Food wise it maybe just didn't suit us. I would say just try the pide cheese or the pide beef if you eat meat. Wouldn't make the trek out to this industrial area just to have it. But if you are at IKEA, it's not a bad place to stop by and try it

My first-ever experience with Armenian and Georgian food was at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant north of Toronto a few years ago, while visiting the big city. A few friends and I rolled the dice on that place, feeling fatigued with the usual options, and were pleasantly surprised by what we found there. It wouldn't have been something on the bucket list, as they say, but it did open my eyes to another world of flavours and dishes. Fast forward to 2024; I discover that we have an Armenian restaurant right in our own backyard, and not only that, almost everyone is raving about it. After waiting out their holiday closure, my partner and I ventured down to Richmond on a cold, sunny day to check the place out, and we were not disappointed. Tucked away in an unassuming industrial park near the Richmond IKEA, we came across a busy scene on our arrival, a group of people eating take-out wraps while leaning on their car, and a packed indoor seating area as the restaurant worked through their lunch rush. The process is novel; you place your order and pay downstairs at the counter and you're given a number, and then, after several minutes, the staff place your food on a tray or two, and send it up on a dumbwaiter. We had four items off the menu. A khinkali - sort of like an oversized soup dumpling with black pepper - which was delicious and brothy, nicely seasoned and piping hot. The "pide", which is also known as a khachapuri, was stuffed full of briny cheese and an egg, and the house hot sauce went really nicely with that and cut through the saltiness and richness. I had the shurpa, or lamb soup, which was hearty and well-seasoned, with lots of chickpeas, potatoes, and cilantro. My partner had the grilled chicken thighs and peppers, which were wrapped in lavash. Everything was very tasty and you get a solid understanding the uniqueness of the cuisine, and those hints of influences from neighbouring parts of Europe and Asia. There were really only two things that needed improving. The washroom needed a cleaning, and the ventilation upstairs is poor: as all the seating is above the kitchen, when they are cooking meat, the smoke off the grill goes vertical. The staff ended up running upstairs to open windows, which made the food cool down before we finished eating it. Prices are a bit on the high side given the location and the ambiance, but quality is good and service is warm and friendly, so, in that context, what you pay is not really offside with typical Vancouver cafe prices. If you happen to be by the area one day and hungry, give this place a try. I plan to come back a second time to sample some of the other menu items.

I had a wonderful lunch experience here. This is my second visit because of the delicious bread. I started with the triple cheese Lamajoun (thin crust unleavened bread), this was baked and so luscious. Then I got the grilled pork chops, smothered in onions and greens. All wrapped in a fresh baked flatbread and tiny salad. Had a terrific time eating my meal and sitting at a communal table visiting with a regular outside. They have inside seating upstairs and the food comes up in a dumbwaiter. Cool! This is cravable stuff and you should give it a try. Location is in an industrial area. The owner is very friendly and takes time to make every customer feel welcome.

Tl;dr truly a hidden gem This place is off the beaten path and my friends and I even wondered if we were at the right place. Fortunately we were and we ordered the chicken bbq with red pepper and dumplings. The food took around 15-20 minutes but it was because they were making everything fresh for us. They had a cool dumbwaiter system to bring the food to the seating area in the second floor. The food was absolutely amazing. So fresh and flavorful. Watching the bread be baked fresh was amazing and made for an excellent meal.

This is some of the best Armenian food I've ever had. It equals the best you can get in Armenia. Family that runs the restaurant are nice people. Don't let the location turn you away. You will not be disappointed. Great lamajo(un) and zhingalov hats. Grilled chicken was cooked just right. Molodyets, Sergo.

I've never had Armenian food before and I was quite excited to try. The restaurant is located in a very industrial side of Richmond. Upon arriving, I was dismayed to discover how big of a jump in menu price there is from 8 months ago (Google pictures). I'm thinking they probably increased the prices after they became more popular, since the premise did get year's top 100 certificate. However, we still proceeded to order a variety of items. Jazzve coffee - Armenian coffee and boy it was only a tad bit bigger than an espresso and they charged $3.99. It essentially tasted like brew coffee with a bit of sugar. Nothing special and there was even coffee ground at the bottom of the cup which rendered the coffee undrinkable. Pide basturma - this one saw an increase from $11.99 to $16.99! It was delicious but totally not worth the price, in my opinion. It was basically bread, an egg, cheese and cured beef. Lamajoun pizza - their version of pizza with beef on top. In the menu, the pizza had a lot more toppings than reality. Jingle bread - this reminded me of spanakopita and it was delicious. The chicken thigh bbq - this one increased from $12.99 to $16.99. The chicken dish came with 5 pieces of meat, some veggies and a sprinkle of chopped parsley. We peeled off a bit of the lavash bread to wrap it around the chicken and some veggies, kinda like eating fajita. Don't forget their yogurt sauce which was amazing. Overall, it was delicious but not worth the 16.99 for what the dish came with. Dumpling - we ordered one just to try but I prefer the Chinese XLB better lol. I deducted 2 stars due to the price jump. Usually, we see vendors increasing prices bit by bit... I've never seen one where dishes increased by $4-5!! Had they remain at the prices 8 months ago or increased by a little, I would have given them a higher rating. Regardless, I had a wonderful journey experiencing Armenian food.

Worst food I've ever eaten. The meat in the khinkali tasted sour and had too many spices.

Excellent food, with a "rustic" parking lot setting in an industrial park... we ate the Pide and beef kebab wrap at a picnic table in the parking lot and took the jumbo dumplings, borscht and jingle bread home for dinner later that evening. I didn't know how to prepare the dumplings so found some instructions online and winged it. I reheated the jingle bread (reminded us of the stuffed "dim sum" type dishes from Northern China) in the toaster oven, and heated up the borscht on the stovetop. I have to say that everything tasted really fresh and delicious - definitely worth a detour to check it out!

During my trip back to Seattle,WA, we had a pleasure of stopping by Lamajoun, and I must say, it was great experience. The food they served was not only delicious, but also brought back memories of my family's Armenian home-cooked meals. The ambiance of the restaurant was also quite inviting, and the staff members were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Will be back again when I am in Canada!! I regret not discovering this hidden gem earlier!! We have ordered dolma, khachapuri, lamb bbq and Khinkali dumplings and were beyond satisfied not only with taste, but with exceptional service from the their team. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. My mom is from middle eastern descent and I have certain standards when it comes to this type of cuisine as she is an exceptional cook and Lamajoun certainly did not disappoint. We have also ordered Lavash bread to go - must try!! (Great with anything - cheese, veggies, meats..) Regret not taking more photos, but, the food tasted so good that it was gone before I knew it! Thank you!

Great Georgian and Armenian food for takeout mainly. The location is industrial, so not worth to plan a romantic dinner.

Gosh, I can't believe I have not reviewed this establishment yet! Lamajoun is not only an eatery to me, it's actually one of the places I visit to re-experience my childhood. This little gem boasts bold and beautiful Armeno-Georgian flavours. Personally, I love getting the frozen dumplings; you get a deal when purchasing in higher quantities. They've also got many, many vegetarian and vegan options-- my ultimate faves being the khachapuri (cheese stuffed bread) and zhingyalov hatz (flatbread with finely minced greens). As for non-veg items, the dumplings are always a must, as are the sarma/dolma. The staff makes the restaurant that much more amazing. They are absolutely fantastic and will literally treat you like family! They work hard to make sure the food is made perfect and with love and you can tell they take pride in their cooking. As you can tell, this place is very dear to me. I grew up in Rostov-on-Don and to this day I vividly remember the Nakhichevan Bazaar-- a marketplace which our family would religiously frequent for affordable produce/groceries. The marketplace was filled with food stands of various Armenian/Georgian/Azerbaijani snackies and this restaurant just reminds me of all the times I would go to Nakhichevan market with my mama and we would get khachapuri after a long day of grocery shopping. Highly highly recommend!

This place truly feels like a hidden gem. While it's location isn't where you'd expect a great restaurant/bakery to be, we were glad to find it on our trip. The pide basturma had a delicious fresh bread and the bbq chicken was perfectly grilled.

Finally got to try this page recently from a friend's suggestion. Verdict? It's amazing value, the service is friendly, and the food is delicious. What else do you need? My group tried the beef pide, cheese pide, beef lamajoun and medovik (honey cake). The bread in the pides were both pillowy soft like you would not believe. I wish bakeries would make bread like this, it was phenomenal. The cheese and beef fillings for everything were also very flavourful, and for the beef pide they were incredibly generous- see my picture with a cross section of the crust. As for the cake? I can't even. It's a soft, subtly sweet thing of beauty. To top it off, we were also brought samples of some lovely cured meats. Basically you need to eat here!

One of the best places in Richmond a true hidden find the food is absolutely fantastic everything you order there is wonderful the service is very kind and Considerate the look of the restaurant is kind of cool and if you go upstairs they have a dumb waiter which I'm sure most people haven't seen their dumplings are fantastic their bastorma is wonderful There's nothing that I've eaten there that I wouldn't recommend highly their breads are wonderful and they're Is Cheese bread is divine I would rate them a 9 out of 10 every day

upon the recommendation of my good buddy we went and tried this hole in the wall place by close to ikea. It is a fusion between Armenian and Russian cuisine. Place is a bit hard to find as it is tucked away in an industrial area, sandwiched between warehouses and car shops. Its also small and seats only a couple people inside but there were a few tables outside right on their parking space. Staff very friendly and inside feels like a street cafe kinda establishment. We were given a free sample Of their famous cured meats and it was very tasty. A bit on the salty side though, but i did like it. We ordered the bread boat with cured meats and an egg in the middle, the minced meat pie, and the soup and meat dumplings ( like xlb). The bread boat was something different as they baked it together with the meat and the egg, giving the egg a silky, smoky texture. It was howeverC a bit salty. But the pastry tasted like a soft pretzel. The minced meat pizza-like dish was good. The base was thin-crust and held the dish well. Lastly, the dumplings were served pipping hot and fresh out of the steamer. In my opinion, the skin was too thick and a bit chewy. The pork inside was juicy tho, and it held some broth spiced with cumin. Overall, it was quite an experience. Ive never had a Mix of armenian / russian food. I'd visit again to try the other entrees for take out. If you are trying to avoid salt, then this is not the place for you, as dishes can be salty. Cheers! Happy eating!

Fantastic flavours and selection! We tried the Chicken BBQ, Lamb BBQ, pides, and jingle bread. We'd go back for any and all of those!

Great food, very friendly people. They were very accommodating for our wheelchair needs. They have stairs to the upstairs seating but offered to set up a table downstairs or outside.

Summarizing the whole experience : this place is the exact definition of a hidden gem. My friend recommended this place long time ago and I wasnt really excited about it . Today I was craving some Mediterranean style food and this bakery & cafe popped up in my search. So went there ordered a beef pide and a double kebab wrap. I couldnt believe how busy and crowded the place was, especially that their location is not within a plaza or food court or any busy street. Had to wait long enough to get my food ready but the chef ( I assume the owner as well) was so nice and kept apologizing for the delay and he gave me two sweet items ( napolitean cake and the other peach form cake I cant remember its name)as a form of apology . Was the food worth the wait ? Absolutely!!If I had to wait more I would do it!!! Pide dough was epic and the ground beef is well spiced and yummy! The double beef Kabob wrap has a better effect than LSD , it will take you to heaven everytime u take a bite of it. The wrap bread ( i assume they make it in there) is just the perfect match with the tasty charcoaled kebab. Last but not least , the pastries were impressive. Definetely going back to try the rest of the menu!! P.S : for the lady in the front counter if you are reading my review , I just wanna tell you that you got the most breathtaking eyes I ve ever seen.

This was my first time trying Armenian food. I placed my latte order and I was handed a pager. There was a woman working behind the counter who explained some of the menu items to me when I asked what was popular. She also explained the ordering process as I was still waiting for my friend to arrive. Then I headed upstairs to wait for my drink. The pager would notify when my order was ready and my latte was delivered upstairs by an elevator. Food was delivered the same way. You can order additional food by calling the restaurant, telling the staff your pager number and the food would then arrive by elevator. I thought the set up was pretty neat and creative! My latte was okay. I have had better lattes elsewhere, but I got my caffeine fix. I shared a few items with my friend. We ordered the pide cheese, chicken thighs and red pepper BBQ, and khinkali dumplings. The pide cheese was like a bread boat filled with cheese and egg. It was a tasty snack although I found it to be on the salty side. The chicken BBQ was made well. Chicken was tender and juicy. The onions, parsley, cucumber slices, tomato wedges and pickles added some freshness and acidity to the meal. It made the flavours more well-rounded. Lastly, I was surprised at how big the dumplings were. We were about to place a full order until staff informed us that the dumplings were big. They were correct and I was content eating just one dumpling. It was soupy with a beef filling. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side. I am used to eating xiao long bao and never eaten soup dumplings outside of a Chinese restaurant. This was definitely worth trying too. Overall, I was impressed at the quality and taste of the food. This was a great introduction to Armenian cuisine. I hope to return again to try other items on the menu. Customer service was friendly and efficient.

Lamajoun is a hidden gem amongst the industrial buildings in Richmond. If it weren't for Yelp, I would never have heard of this place. I've been on a huge Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food kick and saw that Lamajoun specializes in Armenian cuisine, so my manfriend and I decided to pop in here to check them out. The parking situation is free and plentiful, given the nature of where this spot is located. The interior space is quite tiny. There are maximum two tables inside as well as a few scattered tables outside if it's nice out. They have a large menu behind the counter where you order. Once you order, you can sit and they'll bring your food out to you. They specialize in flatbreads and pides, so I decided to get the cheese pide and my manfriend got the beef pide. For those who don't know, a pide is a large dough boat stuffed with meats, sauces, cheese, and an egg. If you love bread and cheese, this is a must order for you. The pide was absolutely delicious; I thoroughly enjoyed every single savoury cheesy bite. We also got a baklava for dessert and it was perfect. For the size and quality of our dishes, it was very reasonably priced. The owners were very hands on - taking our order, dropping off the food to our table, and checking in to make sure we enjoyed our food. I'll definitely be back to enjoy more of their menu very soon.

They have a nice range of food on the menu but being cheap and using dark thigh meat for the chicken dishes loses me. It's too bad as otherwise I would like this restaurant a lot more. It's really a pity as we need more great restaurants representing the cuisine of this part of the world in this area.

If this is the gold standard for Armenian food, I should pack my bags and move right away. Lamajoun prepares and bakes all of their food with the utmost care, and it really shines through. I got takeout this evening, and my belly is pleasantly full even as I write this several hours later. The lamajoun beef is simple but decadent - a thin, crispy flatbread with a wonderfully spiced ground beef mixture baked onto it. The jumbo beef kebab was delicious with a hearty flame-grilled skewer, a wonderfully chewy pita bread, and a perfect acidic onion and parsley salad/slaw to balance out the flavors. The chicken thigh BBQ was also incredible. There were sweet, plump roasted red peppers and juicy chicken thigh stuffed into the warm pita. Total came out to $30 for two people, which isn't bad at all, especially for such generous portions. I would definitely come back in a heartbeat (probably next week)!

Opened for three years now. This hidden gem was unknown to us until I searched for kebabs on Yelp and it came up with this place . Upon entering I thought one of the girls was an actress from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch Netflix series. Ok back to the food. The food pics on yelp looked amazing but in person it is even better. If you enjoy foods with herbs and enjoy Mediterranean style food. I think. You'll love this. The owner and staff are all very friendly and they know how to bake and cook! I'm so happy to have taken our Japanese food critique for a memorable lunch as she has to go back to Japan for a spell before she can come back. So this just adds to her memories of great people and food in Canada.

I am sorry but I need to be fair! I put my first experience here and then later my second experience which is completely opposite to the first one! A great family team who are delivering their best to their customers, as you feel you travelled to Georgia! You will enjoy a real taste of traditional foods of Georgia and Anatoli including Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaidjan, and etc. with a team who are committed to do their best. I tried also their Sojug(that area sausage), Basturma(similar to prosciutto with organic taste and local spices) and founded it exact taste. I recommend Lamajoun to those who want to try original flavour of Anatolian and Georgian foods. I can't count to my next visit to try their lamb chops, pide, and all their other foods. *** Today I was there for second time, based on my first experience I was excited to taste there a new dishes! but unfortunately unlike the first time I was not happy with each of my orders except Baklava! So I dedcut two stars from first review! - The borscht soup includes cabbage, carrot, potato, beets and tomato the main taste of borscht soup should come from cabbage but the soup doesn't have any specific taste maybe the mix of hot water, tomato paste and and adding some vegetables at last minute(disappointing)! -the main coarse was lamb chops, I can't say it was bad but I won't say I will try it next time. It was very hard to cut and the plate was very small for the portion.(you need more space to such hard dish to be cut) The reason I put this comments here is that I hope they to be more carful for the quality and their productions. I have not drove a long distance for such a low quality unlike the first time.

Armenian bakery and cafe is a wonderful surprise. The friendliest chef and servers here serving amazing Armenian food. We had Pide, khinkali, and chicken. Every dish was fantastic! Highly recommend this bakery and cafe. Highly recommend baklava. Just wish that I had bought more baklava. We could taste that food was prepared with love and positive energy. A real hidden gem.

Hidden gem alert! I think someone needs compile a list of great industrial park spots and add Lamajoun to it. It takes a certain something to setup with no ambiance, in a place with no foot traffic evenings and weekends,.. and still attract a loyal following and Lamajoun has that. (I actually really love it when a business takes me somewhere I'd never otherwise go in the city). Super friendly service, and amazing flavours in what, for me, is an untapped food type that I want to explore more. Another reviewer nailed it: "Armenian, Turkish and Georgian, most dishes will be exotic for all but the most well-traveled foodies". I don't know how dumplings or Napoleon desserts fit into that but they do them too and they, like the Pides etc,.. are amazing. Psst! They are expanding the space to grow!

This spot is kind of in the middle of an industrial complex, but the ratings were so high we knew we needed to try. We ordered take out so we could have a picnic at a park. The waitress took down my nut allergy with no problems. The wait time was quite long, with us waiting 30+ minutes (We were told 20 min. After we went in and asked, they brought it out right very soon after). However, everything was very fresh so it could have just been baking time. We sat outside in a nice area decorated with chalk drawings. They even gave us paper plates and cutlery to eat, which was perfect for the picnic! The khinkali dumplings are actually a soup dumpling, which was nice. I feel like eating them piping hot would be best. The pide basturma was a bit salty because of the cheeses and cured meat with the egg yolk. The pastry on the outside was very soft and chewy though. I think I might try the pide beef next time. The lamajoun was the star for me, the beef sauce was fantastic and flavourful.

A small little restaurant with 4 tables, it gets very buys here so come early if you want to have a sit down meal. I think they mainly do catering but do offer hot food and coffee. It is located in an industrial complex along river road, somewhat hard to find and very limited parking. Lamajoun: made with beef, garlic, onion, parsley, red peppers then bakes on a thin flatbread. This was surprisingly light and loaded with flavor. Definitely a must try. Chicken thigh bbq: served with roasted red peppers, onions, and yogurt ontop of lavash flatbread. Chicken was cooked well, nice char and juicy. Flavors were on point with just the right amount of seasoning. Don't let the plate fool you, it's much more filling than it looks. This was the first time I've had Armanien food and it surely won't be the last.

This is a most unexpectedly excellent hole in the wall restaurant. It is located in one of about thirty suites in an industrial park, in Richmond, BC. You enter into a tiny room with a small counter on which a food display competes for space with a cash register, and a menu, and a smiling young lady welcomes you from behind the counter. The customers order their food and are seated at a table that is basically in the parking lot, or they are sent to a second floor that is a fairly large dining room with many tables and chairs and where there is a bathroom. If the customers choose the second option, as we did, they order their food and are sent upstairs with an electronic alarm which lights up when their food is ready, alerting them to go to the back of the dining room where their food arrives in a dumb waiter! It was a somewhat surreal experience, that was crowned by the arrival of the variety of dishes we ordered, all of which were outstanding, namely (1) the lahmajoun, a famous meat pizza which we'd had at many Armenian restaurants before, (2) zaatar pizza or "man'oushe", a famous middle eastern dish, (3) "jingle bread", which was a spinach and dill pie; and for dessert, (4) a beehive cookie, which was a crumble of cookies and condensed milk. The lahmajoun dough was excellent, the meat was generous, the zaatar mix was very good, and the man'oushe crunchy as it should be, the spinach pie was very tasty and the cookie was very pleasant, crunchy and not too sweet. Oh and the dining room was very clean and private, and it included a foosball table and a TV. It was a delightful experience, we left with a dozen lahmajouns, to be frozen and heated over the next month.

So excited to be Back to Canada after 2 and Half Years. Fam couldn't wait to visit Lamajoun (Armenian Cafe) in Richmond Canada. Food is Amazing and the owners are kind and on Point

A hidden gem in Richmond! It was my first time eating Armenian cuisine and I was pleasantly surprised. The dumplings were my favourite. I highly recommend this place!

Lamajoun is an Armenian family run bakery/cafe. They're located in a random industrial area in Richmond; always a good sign in my book. We've been twice and both times snagged seats outside on the 6 seat communal table. There's a handful of tables inside but it's tight. Service was fine but could use a little more attention. The menu consists of one page; appetizers, vegetarian, meat lovers, vegan and drinks & sweets. Trip #1 We dropped in on a Saturday (around 11:45am). - 2x Jazzve coffee ($3.49) - tried a sip. Rich with a hint of acidity. I'm not a coffee addict but even I liked it. - Basturma - they brought each of us out a slice of cured beef to sample. Excellent. - Lavash - a complimentary flatbread for everyone to try while we waited for our food. It was light and crunchy with a hint of salt. Would be nice if there was a dipping sauce. - Za'atar bread ($2.99) - dried herbs, thyme, sesame, dried sumac and olive oil. This was fresh and fluffy. Finally found a legit za'atar. - Lamajoun pizza (beef) ($2.99) - lean beef, parsley, tomato sauce, pepper, garlic and onion. Squeeze the lemon on top. Small but solid. - Pide sujuk ($10.99) - dough "boat" filled with 3 types of cheese, sujuk (sausage) and egg. Bread is warm and egg adds some creaminess. - Jingle bread/gozleme ($3.99) - flatbread stuffed with spinach, onion, dill, parsley, black pepper and olive oil. You're supposed to add the butter inside but we didn't bother. Like the addition of dill. - Khinkali dumplings ($10.99 for 5) - giant dumplings made up of onion, cilantro and pepper. You can choose between beef or chicken; we tried both. Chicken was the much better option. These babies are massive; dough is thick. Lots of soup inside but not much flavour to it. You're supposed to flip them upside down to eat them. - Baklava ($3.99) - homemade, not too sweet and a great way to end our meal. Trip #2 We dropped in on another Saturday (around 12:45pm) but it wasn't too busy. - Za'atar bread ($2.99) - good as the first time. - Imeretian khachapuri ($8.99) - large cheese pie with three types of cheese. Cheese is on the mild side. Texture is a mixture reminiscent of feta and cottage cheese. Okay but this would be better to share with a group. - Chicken thighs BBQ ($11.99) - 5 pieces of thighs marinated in yogurt and garlic wrapped in freshly baked lavish flatbread with onions, red peppers, grape tomatoes and cucumbers. Chicken had a touch of char on it and was juicy. Rip off some bread and make yourself a mini wrap. Would have appreciated some sort of sauce to go with the bread. Solid, satisfying and carb heavy eats at Lahmajoun. Will be back again.

This was some of the funnest best food I've ever eaten. We got the beef pide and the za'atar bread and it was amazing. Oh and the baklava is a must. SO GOOD. The owners were also SO nice. Will definitely be back.

Food is quite authentic and tasty. Friendly service. The peach cookie looks so real. Dogs are allowed.

Interesting restaurant out in Richmond industrial area. Food is good but restaurant location is a bit off. My favorite : borscht soup and pide beef and their wraps ( the bread thin and soft)

Everything is cooked to perfection here. The food is authentic and delicious with a bonus of the friendliest people working there. Absolutely a must try if you are in Vancouver. They also deliver through skip. Simply the best.

Was hungry at IKEA and looked online for food options nearby. Lamajoun was by far the highest rated in this semi-industrial area. Don't think I've ever seen a restaurant with near perfect ratings on every review site. We ordered way too much but why not since everything is so reasonably priced and we live 2500 miles away in Arizona. The food and service lived up to the reviews. Will be back again next year.

Outstanding in every way-a charming little operation that's obviously someone's dream. The food is sublime I'm already inventing excuses to go back to a somewhat obscure part of a distant suburb maybe this time I'll eat slower and buy more to take home!

This lived up to the hype. I'm always a bit skeptical when a restaurant gets so many good reviews. The food is like being welcomed to the dinner table of an Armenian family. Every dish was impeccable, even unique. Even the tzatziki sauce was the best I've had in recent memory. It was so flavorful and had a kick of spice to it that I don't recall from other places. I am in love with their beef kebab. They put so much beef in it. Most places try to reduce the quantity of meat to a minimum to improve their margins. But here, their motto is that they make it with love, and it shows. If you google Armenians and the history is synonymous with terrible crimes against humanity. And then I eat this food, and I'm caught between emotions. This family wants to be recognized for the hope and love in their food. They want to be defined by their bright future, and not by the dark past. This restaurant might be in the middle of nowhere, but you can't help but root for this underdog. In a few years, I hope they will be able to open a larger restaurant or even a chain of restaurants. Their food is so good that it needs to be shared with a wider audience. This is just their humble beginning.

I came today for the borscht and the lamajoun. I was slightly disappointed by the borscht as there was a layer of oil that I didn't see on my first order. It still tasted yummy though. The spicy beef lamajoun was a good complement to the soup. The reason I didn't lower my rating one star was for the outstanding jazzve coffee. It's named that because of the jazzve coffee container which is traditionally boiled on hot sand. It's similar to turkish coffee, but not as thick or bitter. Their jazzve container is cooked over a regular stove and the owner swears tastes just as good. It went well with the large piece of baklava that I ordered which also wasn't as sweet as the greek version. This armenian coffee is popular in many cafes and is usually served while jazz music is playing in the background. Cool. I'd check out the armenian jazz group coming to the Vancouver jazz fest if I could. As it turns out, there's also more family story. Their son is a budding chef and artist too. Once, he cooked a fish dish in the kitchen that a customer insisted on buying once he saw it. Also, their son did all the cool artwork on the walls. Now, that's multi-talented!
