The Lamb Inn – Eastbourne, England - Gastro Obscura

"If you are looking for an authentic British pub experience in charming coastal seaside town, look no further than The Lamb Inn in Eastbourne, located roughly an hour from London by train. This local institution has been in operation since 1180. You can feel the history seep through the walls of this public house. The low, beamed ceilings, dark wooden furniture and stone hearth fireplace are cozy and inviting. At the same time, you can almost sense the ghosts of patrons past seated next to you as you sip ale out of a metal cup. Like so many pubs, The Lamb Inn offers the traditional Sunday roast of roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roasted veggies, and potatoes. But, Sunday Roast at The Lamb Inn is next level. This particular rendition of the classic is next-level, with generous portions and a heap of cheesy cauliflower included. Know Before You Go Not a meat eater? No problem. The Lamb Inn offers vegetarian "roast"options." - ccafaro77

Yelp
The Lamb did not live up to it's expectations with long waits for meals and drinks, noisy, crowded rooms and horrific parking spaces which destroy it's great atmosphere, it's a shame this pub does not live up to it's expectations although its outstanding history slightly improves this mediocre pub. The only reason to come back is the thousand-year old well which is amazing, although this does not salvage the culinary wasteland that it is.

Yelp
Had a great experience here. Dogs are allowed in which is super charming cause you can pet them all! Had a bit of glen morange scotch with one rock and sat back to enjoy the local company. I recommend coming here, as it's been here since the 11th century. There's apparently a cellar downstairs that has a tunnel connecting to a nearby church - wha?! But it's boarded up now and we didn't get a chance to go down there. Super sweet staff and the atmosphere can't be beat. Families, dogs, old, young, it's got everything!

Yelp
Truly ancient pub. Reportedly frequented by Crusaders before taking ship en-route to the Holy Land. Some of the building may be original. Situated in the old town and well away from the modern town centre and sea front. The clientele are mainly locals and parking in adjoining streets can be difficult. A good variety of local beers on offer. Menu may be over-ambitious. Generally pricey. OK, if you like this sort of thing.

Yelp
One of the oldest pubs around, has a great range of people that visit. Food is served here, and is nothing special but fills a gap. Themed evenings take place, so can come a cropper if you expect to have a quiet drink and turn up on quiz night!! Harveys local beer on tap.

Yelp
Brilliant old pub, comfortable and friendly atmosphere - new owners have retained all this - they are very friendly and are currently restoring the interior. Very child friendly, food is okay here (menu doesnt change often) and averagely priced. Quiz machines and fruit machines included!come for the local friendliness and charming settings.

Yelp
Great olde worlde pub, steeped in history, i nfact one of the oldest drinking establishments in the country, i am lead to believe, going back to the 12th century. Harveys beer available as well as food, which is of reasonable pub standard. Parking can normally be found in the streets nearby. Music events and quiz nights held here, as well as occasional folk nights. Not really a pub to take the kids to, but thats not necessarily a bad thing!
