A Broadway mainstay since the mid‑2010s where groups gather around split pots, thin‑sliced meats, and house broths. Loved by locals for convivial dinners and late weekend hours; a go‑to for communal Chinese dining in Providence.

Restaurant has its own parking lot. The inside is very clean, cozy booths and great service. The host was great about showing us the menu and helping with suggestions while helping us not to over order. Seriously, there are so many choices and I want to try all of them. My dining companion wasn't a seafood eater so we had beef and lamb thinly sliced and crunchy pork meatballs for our protein. We did get tofu also. We got the mushroom sampler, the veggie sampler and pulled noodles. When you are ready for the noodles, they pull them table side. We got a split pot with two bases, mushroom and bone broth. I made an oyster peanut spicy dipping sauce. The food was extremely fresh. It was delicious! The drinks were great and the overall experience was worth it. I'll be back!

Google
We decided to try two different soups: one spicy and one bone broth. Both were absolutely delicious and had their unique flavors. Everything we ordered was fantastic, including the dumplings, which were especially nice. Highly recommend this place for a satisfying and flavorful meal!

Google
My first experience with hot pot and I was blown away! Great service and incredible food. Try all the sauces and be adventurous!

Google
This is my all time favorite place for hotpot. People complain about the price here, but honestly the price is worth it for the high quality ingredients you are receiving. The servers have become very attentive and always make sure our broth is full. Honestly, for the two of us after tip the bill comes to around $90-100 so do not come here if you cannot afford it! The price is worth it for the location, service, and quality!! The only thing I would say they can improve is cleaning the sauce bar but it is usually very clean when we come dine in!

Google
Overall very good experience at LaMei! Authentic and fresh! We had the beef and lamb with the bone broth and an array of veggies. All was delicious. We also had the fried rice which was 9/10. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. Good drink menu too. I would recommend thos place!

Google
Great experience at Lame Hot Pot! Very friendly staff, great service, very clean facility and amazing food! Their impressive selection of ingredients and broths can make for a delicious and customizable meal. Unique dipping sauces to cater to different tastes and preferences.

Google
First experience at this. Loved it. One of the guys that works there was very helpful to us newbies. If you get the hot to cook your food in you better like hot. I love hot. I got my broth at a .5 not even on the menu it starts at a 1. It was so hot I couldn't eat it. It did have a great flavor but the heat was off the chain. We definitely will go back. Ill get the bone broth to cook in.

Google
They set the bar for hot pot! Can't wait to go back again! Everything was super fresh and delicious!

Yelp
This was our second visit, and it definitely won't be our last! We were looking for something a little different to do as a group, and hot pot was the perfect choice. The four of us arrived and were seated right away--no wait, which was a nice surprise. We went with two different broths and ordered a solid variety of meats, noodles, and add-ins. Everything came out super fast, fresh, and well-prepped. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. It's a fun, interactive way to eat with friends, and the flavors were on point. We'll definitely be back again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
LaMei is good for Providence hotpot! The broths were flavorful; our favorite was the mushroom! However, it was a bit pricey and the quality of the meat wasn't top notch. I would return for special occasions or if friends wanted to go, but I don't think I have it on my "return to asap" list. The service was also mediocre. We had to call someone over for any requests and it took a while to get our bill.

Yelp
my husband and I still love this place, we literally will not eat hot pot anywhere else. the fried rice is also so amazing!!

Yelp
This is the best spot around for hotpot. The selection is great for a good price. it's very casual inside, drinks come in themed cups with straws. the food is fresh and good. you can't make reservations but it doesn't matter - service is quick and its a fun "experience"

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend's second time having hotpot, we would've just driven to Dartmouth if we knew how bad this place was. First off- $90 for two people is absurd. Food was bland, had to pay extra for the "buffet style seasonings and sauces", he ordered mild broth but the spice level was almost Satans armpit hot. We sent back the squid and we got treated really weird after. The only good item we enjoyed was the bok Choy and crab sticks. One server kept correcting me on how to cook my food and "offering advice" even though we've said we have done hotpot before, literally would stand there until I looked up at him. The restaurant is also located in an abandoned building, so looks super sketchy. We're both feeling sick at the moment, so overall, not a good experience.

Yan Y.

Yelp
I had high expectations for this place, But sadly this dining experience was disappointing. The food was not fresh at all, almost everything we ordered had an obvious frozen taste. The food wasmediocre and overpriced. Given the price the overall experience did not meet expectations. If it were possible to give zero stars, I definitely would. I will not be returning in the future.

Yelp
Wanting hotpot in Providence is like wanting ice water in the desert. There are so few spots, and none are amazing. LaMei tries, but I just don't feel like the quality is very high. The broth is so-so, and the more expensive proteins are shaved razor thin. I'm not one to quibble about prices if either the food or the service (or both) are great; but here the service is by definition hands off, and the only prepared food is broth. Oddly, the place seems to either be slammed or totally empty. Fortunately they have their own lot, which in downtown Providence is often a reason to eat somewhere on its own. The restaurant itself is very brightly lit and can get loud. It's a fun family meal where everyone can talk and have whatever they want, and with hotpot being in short supply we've been several times and will probably go back. But it's nothing to write home about.

Yelp
This was my first hot pot experience and they were so patient explaining how it worked. I'll spell it out for any other first timers looking for guidance! 1. You order the broth first. We did a split pot of spicy and the standard broth on the other side. 2. The sauce bar! Worth the $1.99. Make your own paste, sauce or additional miscellaneous toppings here to better control your flavoring on an individual level. 3. Ingredients: Meats & Seafood! The brisket was a great choice for us. It was wrapped up and easy to grab and dunk with the tongs or chopsticks (your choice). The shrimp was another win. It was fresh and ready to boil. (I will add both were expensive for the quantity received but again, the quality is there) Noodles or rice! You can choose rice noodles to add to the broth or a side dish or rice to enjoy your food with. Both were excellent choices. The noodle portion was a bit small but there are so many other options it wasn't missed. The rice was standard white sticky rice. No complaints. Veggies! Sliced corn on the cob, Bok Choy, mushrooms, string beans, were all great choices. Had a few drinks as well. They were strong and well mixed. Worth the price which was also quite reasonable! Now this aside the place was recently renovated so it was immaculately kept. The food came out on serving trays that were clean and shiny. The tables with the hot pots were also very cool and surprisingly roomy! It was kid friendly and the staff were not overly friendly but very patient. Which I appreciated tremendously as a first timer with my family. Don't let the parking lot or graffiti on the wall scare you off. It is a really cute place and a little street art never hurt anyone! 8/10

Yelp
We brought the whole family, grandparents and all. Everyone loved it. Vegetarians had the mushroom hotpot while the other end of the table had meat.

Sofia K.

Yelp
I got the beef tallow broth with medium spice level and holy crap that stuff was the spiciest thing I've ever tasted. It was also nasty. Mind you, I'm from Pakistan so I have a pretty high spice tolerance but omg I couldn't even eat my food. Also, their menu has some of the grossest things on there so I really question the sanitation of the place. They had pork heart and kidney intestines all that. That's nasty. Even if I had got a different broth, I wouldn't even come back because the stuff on their menu was sus. The guy that was serving us also had an attitude and some bad energy so add that to everything.

Yelp
I was looking for a hotpot place in Providence and LaMei Hotpot came up. I had seen signs for LaMei Hotpot on Atwell's avenue so I am glad they were able to open another store on Broadway. The restaurant is very spacious and there were a few tables occupied when we came in on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the half and half Chinese butter broth. Half was spicy and the other half was non-spicy. The spicy was very spicy, so if you are not used to spiciness then you can ask them to adjust the spicy level. The broth was very yummy. For the ingredients, we chose the beef and lamb, beef tripe, white mushroom, assorted vegetable platter, tofu platter, and 2 udons. We also did the dipping sauce buffet for $0.99 each. In addition, we ordered an oolong milk tea. Our total was $92.80. The ingredients were very fresh. The sauce station was unique because you had to make your own sauces instead of them already have prepared sauces. I don't think I would get that next time since the broth was already so flavorful. Definitely recommend coming here on a cold day and warming up with some hotpot. I'll definitely come back here. The service was great and the staff were very attentive for refilling water and seeing if you needed anything else.

Yelp
The food is fresh with a great selections. They even have a few rare items IE kidneys

Yelp
When you're craving hotpot, LaMei is one of the few spots to visit Providence. It satisfies the hotpot craving but doesn't quite hit the spot. LOCATION: LaMei has their own lot so easy to find parking. The place is decent in size and great for couples or groups. MENU: They offer your basic hotpot items plus quite a few delicacies to try. There's also an extensive drink menu as well! FOOD: Now hotpot is all about soup and the ingredients. I enjoyed the tomato soup a lot but bone broth lacked flavor. The quality of the meats were not good at all, some of the meat cuts were actually too thick. We don't mind paying a little more for better quality meats but it just wasn't there. The only item I enjoyed was the shrimp paste. SERVICE: Standard and nothing to write home about. They were courteous and checked on us once to ask if we needed more soup in our pot towards the end of our meal. Overall, we spent over $100 for two people on subpar quality of meats. We left with our bellies somewhat full but not satisfied. We've definitely been too spoiled by good hotpot in the greater Boston area.

Yelp
It's been a while since we last visited LaMei. Food-wise, things are about the same (fresh, tasty, healthy, and fun) however there are less appetizers offered, and no more dry pot... both things we've loved. There are several new protein offerings (mostly edible organs and other strange body parts) for those accustomed and the most adventurous among us. Maybe it's the fact that we've since found Good Fortune Market where every item on the menu can be found (who knew that even all those rolled meats are sold pre-rolled and frozen there), so perhaps some of the mystique is gone for me... especially in light of the continuing price escalation. LaMei was never cheap but we always rationalized it as being close enough to reasonable to visit every month or two. But now the broth (which is free in many other hot pot establishments) starts you out spending about $25 including tax/tip before the first bite of food is chosen. More distressing is that they are once again charging for the sauce bar (which is essential to the experience). So that's another $8 or so for two. Then there's the hidden increase of significantly reduced portion sizes. We used to get a vegetable, mushroom, and tofu platter and have more than enough variety and volume for two. Now they're literally half the size and mostly the common/cheap stuff, so we had to order a lot more food to make it a meal. Long story short(er), it cost us over $130 (after tax/tip) for just 2 of us and we had no appetizers, cocktails, meats (the expensive stuff), or dessert! Drinkers and carnivores will no doubt spend well more. We still enjoy the food but for us the cost is now feeling inappropriate... especially in light of the same old non-descript décor, totally disengaged waitstaff, and underwhelming bar as always. Music was rap all evening which felt a little out of place with the Chinese lanterns? We'll probably still come once in a while but only when we have more in our party to help amortize the base costs. If the owner can be successful with these prices then bully for him or her, but if not, I'd be more inclined to return more often if a reasonable AYCE or pre-fixe combination deal were offered.

Yelp
Hot pot is truly one of my favorite foods and this place in Providence didn't disappoint. Flavor was authentic and they had so many ingredients to pick from. I'd recommend everyone get the sauce bar addition as it really enhances the flavor. Chinese style hot pot might be intimidating but it's truly an experience. Just start off with some meat and veggies and go from there! If you order a lot like we did it might be a little expensive.

Yelp
Amazing sushi, speedy service! Affordable good food! I will miss it since I moved out of Providence but was always my go to sushi spot!!

Yelp
You know what's HOT in Providence? Two words! HOT POT (chanting)! Say it with me now ! Especially with this cold frigid New England weather, what better way to warm the belly! My family and I love hot pot and tonight was the night to try a new spot! So, tip one. Make a reservation! I didn't (rookie mistake) and we showed up at 5pm and the hostess was nice enough to seat us at a table since we were a party of three. And if you didn't have a reservation, they have individual seating at the bar for hot pot! So remember that if you have a brain fart like I did! I blame it on the cold air for my error! We ordered the 50/50 broth. One side was bone broth and the other side was the Mala Chinese butter broth (for the spicy fan)! Both broths were flavorful! So that's a winner! What I ordered which made the hot pot experience that extra yummy! Vegetables ordered: bok choy, corn, lettuce, enoki mushrooms and spinach. 10/10 Protein ordered: beef rib eye! 10/10 Seafood ordered: shrimp, white fish, mussels and crab sticks. 10/10 The shrimp was my favorite! However, the white fish fell short. Not my favorite. Noodles: Highly recommend the Shanghai noodles! Great texture to it as it is made fresh! As far as dipping sauces goes, you have to pay for it and there's a dipping sauce bar where you can customize your own creations! How fun is that?!? Customer service was very accommodating with no reservation. So that's a plus! Parking is available outside. So no fuss or muss there.

Yelp
The quality of the meat was not good and I felt it was very overpriced for what was offered. The only thing that was cool was the handmade noodles table side but the quality of me was very disappointing

Yelp
We are always looking for a good hotpot place and was in town to visit the museum. We came her around 2pm on a Tuesday and the restaurant was pretty empty. We ordered the 50/50 broth and some usual hotpot dishes. I wanted to say that after eating at almost every hotpot restaurant, it would be a trip to the bathroom. Not this time. The broth was very fresh and didn't have a rich hotpot powder taste. Meat was fresh as well. The only down side is the waiter served our sticky rice cake to the wrong table and we had to ask for the dish at the end. If you are looking for a "can't go wrong" hotpot sauce, try mine: lots of minced garlic (3 tbsp) and lots sesame oil, pinch of salt and bit of sugar, topped with cilantro and green onions if desired. It goes with pretty much every kind of hotpot dish. Free parking and quick service. If we are ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back.

Cemari R.

Yelp
Everything was flavorful and fresh, the broth was particularly so well made (especially the spicy vegetable oil broth!). There was also a wide variety of options to cook in the broth, all high quality and delicious. Our waiter was not only attentive , but very kind and communicative. The space was very clean as well. We had a great time as a group of 2, but there was a group of 10+ that were having the best time -- it's perfect for the communal dining experience with friends and family. It was a lovely experience all around and a wonderful opportunity for us to learn a new cuisine. It's a shame to see undeserved bad reviews for this restaurant that stem from ignorance. We're really glad to have tried this new dining experience, it was deliciously worth it!! P.S. when in doubt, get bok choy!!
google avatar

Victoria K.

Yelp
I had driven by this place countless times and never really noticed it. Alas, what a find! This was a really great experience, and I enjoyed the meal with 3 others who had all been to hot pot before (it was my first time). They really helped lead the way by navigating the menu and making suggestions. Overall I enjoyed most of what I tried. The 2 broths I tasted (mushroom and tomato) were both fantastic. I breached my comfort zone a bit and sampled some of the more unusual menu items with mixed feelings (loved some like the century egg and tofu appetizer and would skip others next time like the pig ear salad and the kidneys). If you are looking for a really fun dining experience for a small group, I highly recommend LaMei Hot Pot. The food is very good, and even if you are a picky diner, there are a lot of options! There's also an actual parking lot in front which is a bonus especially in this area.

Yelp
So hear's the thing - Lamei is amazing. We had a slight hiccup the previous time we visited (it was really a misunderstanding) but the staff was super apologetic and they truly did not have to be. We made the decision of going in a Saturday night as opposed to our usual weekday night. (We hate crowds!). What we didn't consider is how busy a smaller restaurant would be on a weekend and, quite frankly, it was. We've realized that weeknights are our to time to visit and IT IS PERFECT. The staff, the food, the drinks and just the atmosphere - amazing! We love it. It's a 40 minute drive for us and we love to come every two weeks or so...if not sooner! Special thanks to our waitress as she's kind, courteous and truly a gem there. We look forward to our visit every time and can't wait until next time!

Yelp
Ambiance: 4/5 See pics and videos Food: 4.5/5 - Half and Half Chinese Butter ($16.99)-- delicious! - Beef and Lamb ($15.99)-- loved it! - Beef Tongue ($13.99)-- tender. - Pig's Brain ($8.99)-- not my cup of tea. However, my husband loved it. - Crab Sticks ($5.99) - Baby Bok Choy ($5) - Shanghai Noodles ($4.50) - Fried Dough Sticks ($6) - Sprite ($2) - Sauce ($0.99) per person-- totally worth it! - Scorpion Bowl for 2 ($13.95)-- made our dining experience a lot more fun! So worth it! Service: 4/5 Superb! One strange thing though, when asked for more broth, the female staff refilled our pot with water. Likes: - Fast service - Yummy food - Ambiance - Scorpion Bowl - Sauce bar Dislikes: None Will definitely be back to dine here if we were ever in town again. Note: When ask for more broth for your pot, make sure is the soup broth that you want unless you prefer water.

Yelp
We don't mind spending money on good food but I do have to say, I was very surprised by the check for the little amount we ordered compared to other hot pot places. The broth options were also different from what we are used to. I messed up and ordered the spiciest broth and my mouth on fire the whole night. The service was great and they made rounds often. The options for meats, seafood, and veggies were limited from other places. For the price, I expected more variety. Still a great option if you are in the Providence area and craving hot pot!

Joe P.

Yelp
Spacious parking lot at the front. It sits on the ground floor of old building in old town. Didn't see the wheelchair access . the stairs seems to be the only way in and out. Didn't bother asking the owner about this...menu are typically seen in this type of business. Prices are reasonable not that crazy given the fact of inflation and other costs after COVID.

Juan R.

Yelp
the service was good but the food didn't taste fresh I got salmonella poisoning from eating here the chicken. not only the food wasn't the freshest but I got sick from it horribly need better and more fresh ingredients never returning again

Daniel C.

Yelp
BEST HOT POT EVER !! I have been to almost every hot pot in the area/ boston area. not even comparable. The amount you get for the price you pay is a lot !!! all tatses fresh
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
We ordered the 2 broths combo which was not savory enough flavor profile wise. This location is pay per order of meat, veggie, noodle and not AYCE fyi. Bill came out to $78 for two people. The hot pot includes a sauce station. Service was very quick. Ambiance is very clean. Ample parking.

Dr D.

Yelp
Parking was great, it has its own parking lot which is a plus in that area. Service was lacking dispite we were the only customers there. Way overpriced (see receipt for 2 ppl). The food was fresh and "good enough." Let's just say I was unimpressed and have no plans on returning. Nothing horrible just not worth another trip for me.

Yelp
I have been searching for a hot pot place ever since my favorite ones in Cranston went away a few years ago now. The only option being a drive to Boston, I have opted to pine for one all this time until someone suggested LaMei. To think I didn't even know this place has been in existence for a couple of years now. All that hot pot I could've enjoyed... Anyway, I wasted no time and went on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of this very hot summer. No biggie; LaMei's AC works. Unfortunately, for a huge hot pot fan like me, LaMei satisfied the craving but I cannot say it was one of the best. First off, the vegetable, meat, and seafood selections are limited compared to what a traditional Chinese hot pot has. Second, I found the price on the high side. For instance, a cup of steamed rice at $2.50, bokchoy for $5.00, eel fish ball for $9.95, and short rib for $15.95, without tax. The biggest whammy was the charge we incurred for enjoying the dipping sauce. This place charges nearly $2 per person for a dipping sauce; something that is not usual and information not shared with us beforehand. Since we ordered 9 different items to dip on a half & half broth of nearly $20.00, you can imagine why all told, we ended up with over $105 including $8 tax, for a check. Whoa. No tip yet. Sigh. So, it was great that I found a hot pot place in RI. That took care of the craving hole. However, in its place was a bigger hole in my pocket, that I have started to reconsider that drive to Boston.

Yelp H.

Yelp
Food is good, prices is alright... but they really need to dust the place out, I couldn't eat after I seen how dusty the decoration were.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
The service was amazing - our server checked in with us several times to make sure we were content with the experience. The hot pot itself was delicious. I took my brother for hot pot for the first time and he loved it. We can't wait to come back. We had the premium ribeye, the watercress, enoki mushrooms, bok choy and Shanghai noodles with the bone broth.
google avatar

Cindy H.

Yelp
The food is extremely good and fresh. The drinks are phenomenal. We created our first hot pot there and they were very helpful.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This was my first time being at a place like this. It went really well, I will say that it does add up in price. Because you order every single thing separately. But the broth was really good and they had a pretty good variety. It's really for the experience, which I thought was great.

Budoski B.

Yelp
excellent food, great place. will definitely make this a regular!! was looking for a place with good tofu. try it!
google avatar

Shawn T.

Yelp
We enjoyed out dinner here, It was as expected. I have to say that it is expensive for what it is. You have to pay for the pot of broth IN ADDITION to the meats and vegetables you order. I have never experienced this in all the hot pot restaurants I have been to.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
My first time in any sort of Hot Pot place and I was really impressed with the experience. My server was very kind explaining how to go through the process of ordering and what to expect. The food was very good.

Yelp
My first night in Rhode island and let's just say, it was freezing outside so I decided to eat hot pot just to warm up. When I got here, I wasn't sure whether they had individual hot pots or one of those large ones that required 3-4 people to share. Luckily they had individual pots, and put me by the bar. I felt like a loser sitting by the bar solo while every other table was a large group laughing away with incredible banter while I'm over here trying to figure out why I showed up by myself Back to the food, everything was a la carte. Not something I was used to because I normally eat at the all-you-can-eat back home. Since I was unfamiliar with the menu and portions, I ordered an ungodly amount of food. Not to mention, I ordered the Ma-LA soup base which back home, I can eat with no issues at all. The one I ordered was spicy AF but delicious, just a fair warning. The food met with my expectations but I left the restaurants feeling like a beached whale. I recommend coming here with a pair or a group of friends, it just makes the experience a little better.
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
A little pricer than what I've seen around here. Our group is newer to Hot Pot and I was hoping to get some explanations of the menu / process, but we were just handed the menu. They charge extra for the sauce bar which I didn't expect coming in, but the sauce selection was good. Wasn't really a fan of the broth, but the beef and pork were of great quality. Its a lot more hectic in the evenings, but lunch time seemed like a ghost town which was pretty relaxing. Not a terrible experience but I think there's better around for the price range.

Yelp
visiting LaMei on a really chilly day was a perfect time. it got filled up shortly after we arrived. food (4/5): since the menu is primarily a la carte instead of AYCE, we were mindful of what to choose for our meal. we chose the half and half Chinese mala butter/mala spicy. the spicy broth was SPICY, from someone who can handle spice. do not drink the top of the broth because you will be tasting straight-up chili oil. my go-to's: udon noodles, fried tofu, quail egg, king oyster mushroom, and enoki mushroom. also ordered the beef and lamb as well as the veggie platters. good assortment additionally, we ordered the eel balls which were stuffed to our surprise and i didn't necessarily enjoy, fair warning they also have a DIY sauce bar for an additional $2, which of course is necessary. i followed another Yelper's recipe combo and thought it complemented well with the food! ambiance (4/5): the bar has individual pots. love that. would love to come back for a date or lunch by myself for that. the restaurant kind of feels like you're eating in someone's home. i liked it. there was a lot of space in between tables and booths as well. service (4/5): friendly, attentive, and quick! multiple staff members on the floor. overall, i'd love to go back but keep in mind that it is definitely a splurge.

Yelp
My dad and I utterly love hotpot. It's definitely a staple back home. Hot pot is more than just eating from one pot, it's a time where we can gather, share food, and talk. I find that the atmosphere at LaMei Hot Pot is perfect for that. We ordered the split soup base (spicy and tomato). The spicy soup, although could be a little spicier, had a lot of flavour and the spice did not compromise the soup base taste. But I was very impressed by the tomato soup base. It was rich in flavour and added more depth and layer to the food. On top of the soup base, the quality of the sliced beef is a lot better than the places we have tried before. It is a bit on the pricier side however, we got what we paid for. The quality was worth every cent.

Yelp
Food 4/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 3/5 i have been here twice and both times the service was very good and the quality of the ingredients/broth is very good. This place has a bar and make your own sauce bar. I have gotten the spicy broth and the vegetarian broth and both have very good flavor.

Yelp
Omg! What an amazing culinary experience. So pleasantly surprised. Outside not so attractive but ample parking. Don't let the appearance outside turn you away. Interior is clean and nicely minimally decorated. Great waiter patiently provided guidance on the somewhat confusing menu. Hot pot where you choose your ingredients and cook on an induction burner. Very fun wAy to dine. All ingredients were really fresh. From the bok choy to watercress. Great range of flavors to add at condiment bar. Foodie heaven. Great for a sharing group. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
I lived in northern China 30 years ago and had Mongolian hot pot where the broth was heated using charcoal store in the bottom of the pot, with a central chimney (hence the "hot pot" name). What an improvement to have just a simple pot set on a convection-top table, with heat controls on the side. The staff could have been more helpful explaining the heat controls, pointing out the sauces, offering more broth and refilling water glasses, but we enjoyed ourselves all the same. The menu has many many choices (broth, meat, veggies, side dishes). Spice levels can be varied as well. Lots of sauces are available on a self-service basis. It's a tad pricey, but nothing crazy. We stuck with a (blow the top of your head off spicy) vegetarian broth, chicken (counter-intuitive with the vegetarian start, right?), and a vegetable platter. Oh so good! The only thing that would have made this better was to have a small set of tongs to fish my corn on the cob out of the broth. I was tough at first to get a grip with my chopsticks. This is a terrific place to come with friends.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese hot pot with hearty broths, meats, and veggies. Food tastes great and is so welcoming for the cold days. It's a bit pricey for what they deliver as I'm used to $26 all you can eat hot pot in Houston/Dallas... Here, between two people, it comes out to $30/person before tip. The service could be better. After ordering and bringing all the food out on a tray, they may come by twice for water refills. Usually have to flag the wait staff to add more broth, get more water, and pay... and sometimes they disappear in the back. A month ago, I noticed there was a lot of dirt on the Napa cabbage. I asked if they could wash it. The waitress responded that the spots were just how the cabbage looked. I showed her how I could rub it off. She didn't look happy about it as she took it back to the kitchen. They had the "check in and get a free dessert" on their sign a few months ago, but when I asked about it, they said it was no longer offered. Yesterday, they had a sign for "write a review and get a free dessert," and I brought the dessert menu, but they said it was just a Sesame ball. I feel the promotions should be explicit and always honored. Also yesterday I tried to get the mushroom broth, but apparently they ran out? I had ordered it many times before on weekdays... Anyways, I come here for the food. I hope the Napa cabbage instance was a one time issue and not a sign that they don't wash their vegetables well..

Yelp
This place was pretty decent. It's super close to traditional hot pot in China. It was super tasty. They had a good variety of vegetables and meats. The only thing that I missed was the peanut sauce. They have a sesame paste sauce but it didn't do it justice. In China, almost all hot pot restaurants have the peanut sauce as part of their dipping sauces. I'm sure it's because of nut allergies. The service was great. It was nice place, but I wouldn't return because of how much I like peanut sauce lol.

Yelp
Lamei is your go to place for your hotpot cravings. Everything is fresh and clean. Drinks are great as well. My girlfriend and i are frequent flyers there and nothing has change. Staff is friendly and they are more then happy to explain to you if it's your first time trying hotpot. One thing you should know is Making a great dipping sauce is an Once you get that down you'll be back for more.

Yelp
I'm tempted to give five stars just for our waiter because he totally made this a five star experience (shout out to Hurst!), especially because I have no experience with hot pots or how to rate them. Hence my dependency on Hurst. But I had a great dinner! First of all, we (2 people) went on a Friday night around 6pm and were seated immediately without reservation, but it was full with a wait by the time we left. Second, someone mentioned the bright lights. Yes, noticeable but no, not problematic. Winter is coming and I never see the sun, so this made me feel awake and alive. Also, it was helpful for seeing the food--I'd like to be aware of my boiling pot of broth. So, I'm okay with the light. Third, I told Hurst I knew nothing and he gave awesome recommendations based on our preferences and the number of people. We got the half and half (we went "medium" on the hot side and I thought it was too mild, so I'd go full on next time), the seafood platter, the veggie platter, and the mushroom platter. It was the perfect amount. Fourth, SAUCES ARE NOW FREE OF CHARGE. All that complaining paid off. There's a station now, but I was clueless about them, so Hurst created sauce combos for us that were amazing. Overall, great food (you'll swoon over the smell alone when you walk in) and great service. I'll be back!
