Lamoon Thai Restaurant

Food was superb. We were really happy that we spent our Valentine’s dinner with them. We had tom yum, calamari, pad Thai, and green chicken curry. Everything was delicious in every bite. I highly recommend this place. Food was exceptional. Thank you and this place is very near to my place.

Had their Green Curry. It was very good. Will order again. Brought some mild Curry home for Mom and she loved it. I had some and I did too. Was a little disappointed that the crab ragoons were made with artificial crab so was unable to order any due to fish allergy. Nice casual dining. Plan to go again soon.

Wow only 6 months new and it was delicious 😋 I had the chicken pad Thai. So good. The soup was delicious. Want a sweet treat try their tea. What use to be China court had a fresh up date. You won't be disappointed

Very nice Thai restaurant in Mundelein. The jalapeño bomb appetizer was my favorite. Will definitely visit again.

SO GOOD. We have been so excited for a Thai place to open so close to us, but we’re not prepared for the food to be this good! We ordered pickup, the service on the phone was friendly and helpful and the food was ready quickly. Everything tasted fantastic and the meat was cooked to perfection. As someone who frequently ends up picking around the chicken in my food, I was surprised to find myself scarfing down every piece. My husband got the pineapple friend rice, I got the green curry, and we shared the jalepeno bombs which were amazing. The curry was too good - I got too distracted and didn’t get a pic :)

Such a great cute new spot! The service was good, the food was brought out as soon as it was ready, and the presentation walk so cute! The atmosphere was so cute and aesthetically pleasing! Best of all it was affordable and had great weekday lunch specials!

Very nice place. Super friendly service. Very flavorful dishes. I would say their spice levels are pretty accurate for me. We go a medium and a hot dish (not thai hot) and while the hot dish had some heat it didn't overpower the flavor. For heat aficionados, you probably want thai hot. Definitely will come back

I found my new go-to Thai place. The Drunken Noodles were delicious—big portion, veggies were fresh & crunchy, “medium” spice level was accurate. The crab rangoons were perfectly bite-sized, crispy, & the wrapper-to-filling ratio was decent (& 8 pieces per order is more than what most restaurants offer). The chicken satay was flavorful—chicken was not dry & the peanut sauce was fantastic. The Thai iced coffee hit the spot (if you’re a chronic coffee drinker, you’ll approve of the strength). I was amazed at how fast we received our food (although, we were only one of two parties at the moment). Besides the food, the restaurant & bathrooms were clean & organized. The furniture & decor were modern & tasteful, & the tables/booths arrangement was spacious & inviting. The staff was attentive & friendly; in particular, Kate was very gracious. I love supporting local businesses, & I’m happy to report that Lamoon Thai is a great addition to the lacking restaurant scene in Mundelein. I know they just opened, so I hope they continue serving the community well. I’d definitely come back!

I used to live in Laos and visited Thailand frequently and I have had some Excellent Thai food over the years. I have tried all of the Thai places in this area and they're fine, but so far none of them had the magical trio of quality, price and service. This place absolutely has all three. We ordered Tom Kha (beautifully well balanced, nuanced broth. Fresh veg. Well cooked chicken) and two of the lunch specials (that are an excellent deal for this area): massaman curry (not just dumped out of a curry paste can, but well blended with the other ingredients. Excellent complexity.) and pad Thai (not too sweet! So much American pad Thai is wayyyyy too sweet). The rangoons the lunch specials came with were good and the sauce for them was seriously delicious. Overall, we definitely have a new "Thai place" and will absolutely be back!

Pretty good thai place! Came here the night before thanksgiving with some friends, and the restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated immediately. I got the pad see ew with chicken and it was good! A good amount of sweet and salty, tastes exactly like what I expect- a solid pad see ew. I also tried some of the yellow curry, khao soi, and the duck special. The duck was really good, super flavorful and umami! I also liked the khao soi noodles, especially the crispy ones. However nothing was mind blowing, so a solid 4 stars here! My friends loved the Tom Kha. I thought it was quite sweet though so only order it if you like your Tom Kha on the sweeter and milder side.

Khao Soi (7/10): very good noodles and broth. The crispy noodles were decent as well. The pork was not very good, though. It tasted like it was missing some acidity or alcohol to neutralize the "porkiness." I'd stick with their chicken or tofu. I'd give it 8/10 if the meat were better. Tom Kha (5/10): decent, but not sour enough and a little too sweet. Restaurant was pretty empty on a Wednesday night. Service was pretty good.

Really flavorful Thai food! Definitely one of the better ones we have been to. The pineapple fried rice was a favorite, super flavorful rice. Khao soy is creamy but not overly sweet. Duck noodle soup also had a deep flavor. Spring rolls have clear thin glass noodles inside which is pretty unique. The peanut sauce was light but good. Pad see ew had good flavor as well and the tofu was firm and smooth. My favorite was the Tom Kha, which was so sour and creamy and pungent, and the ingredients were just so light and flavorful. Overall the foods were all very good, and very flavorful without being too overpowering!

A new Thai restaurant opened and I love it. The food was very good. On the plus side: - the food was great - potions were descent - people were nice - the had gluten free food (I think) On the could be improved side : - they didn't really know that much about gluten free and the menu was not marked. (Gluten can hide in spices and all kind of places you don't expect. It is not a synonym for flour ) - the ambience is nice but felt a little more like a lunch place than a dinner place. I was reasonably sure the green curry was gluten free so that is what I got. Loved it.

Had the duck with basil. Delicious. So succulent. Had coconut this curry f so pup wouldn't have minded more heat . I'll know for next time. Didn't really taste lemon grass and there were no lime in the soup that's still very good and they could've used some cilantro

This spot had been a solid Chinese takeout style place, but it had been less convenient for me for the last few years. I'm liking that this new Thai spot has a nicer dine-in vibe, it's much more clean and comfortable than it's predecessor! I took my time with the menu and I have to say its a little all over the place. Not the most Thai focused menu I've seen, I'll say that. We started with the appetizer sampler so there's a few things to cover starting there. The Chicken Satay, which is usually just ok for me, was really quite good. It seemed to have some curry and other seasoning inside that made it different than your standard chicken on a stick. The Crab Rangoon, while fried very nicely, had no meat in it. They use imitation crab in these anyway despite the fact that other items on the menu use authentic crab. Not a fan of the fake stuff personally, but if you say it's in there then at least put it in there. The Egg Rolls were very tasty. The Spring Rolls were surprisingly good. I don't usually care much for those but I'd get these again. We also had the sesame noodles with chicken (medium heat) and the sweet and sour shrimp (mild). So my biggest issue here was my noodles came with egg. I do not like egg... I can't stand it at all actually. And yes, it's prevalent in lots of Asian dishes of this style. So normally I just avoid dishes that might contain it. Yet every fried rice dish mentioned the egg in the description, lots of other dishes including a different noodle dish mentioned the egg, so it's natural I'd assume I was in the clear when the menu makes no mention of egg... sigh. End rant. After picking all the egg out of my food I found the noodles a bit over done and mushy. The chicken was on the dry side but not bad. It DID have good flavor from the sesame oil and the veggies were a nice variety. The medium heat was just enough to notice but I'd definitely go for hot next time. Sweet and sour shrimp was a bit too sweet. The pineapple was really nice but it needed more balance. The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. It's also beautifully plated. That said my meal was really hit or miss. I'd split this place evenly at 2.5 stars because of the things I mention and the fact that I'd expect a little better for the price point. I DO want to come back soon and give them another shot, they're still getting their footing. They also have Laab on the menu which is a proper authentic dish I haven't had in years, If it delivers on the flavors I remember I'll update my rating.

My wife and I were excited for awhile when we found out that a new Thai place was opening up close to the Jewel that we often get groceries from. Prior to their opening, my favorite local Thai place was Thai Noodle Cafe in Libertyville but was really hoping that Lamoon could match the quality of their food so that I wouldn't have to travel as far to get good Thai food. Since opening, I have been there 3 times and have tried something different each time to get a fuller representation of the quality of the different dishes that they offer. I will caveat that I have gotten take-out each time and can only speak to that. From looking at pictures of their dishes for dine-in, it's quite possible that portion sizes are a bit larger when you go there in-person (but that's pure conjecture and not something I've verified). Here is a list of the dishes/drinks that I've tried: Orange Chicken Basil Fried Rice w/Pork Pad See Eiew w/Beef (lunch special w/crab rangoons) Mango Salmon with Red Curry Roasted Duck Pineapple Curry Thai Iced Tea Thai Iced Coffee I loved the pineapple and mango chunks in the corresponding dishes above. The mango felt especially different than what I'm used to in curry, especially with the deep fried salmon. It's on the pricier end of their menu items but was interesting enough that I didn't mind getting it at least once. Roasted duck was also not dry, so I was happy about that. The drinks were pretty standard so nothing particular to comment about there. I was a bit disappointed in the portion sizes of the take-out dishes relative to the price. Since I have a comparison point with the place in Libertyville, the prices here are a bit more expensive for less food. On top of that, the beef was a tad dry (whereas in comparison, the beef at Thai Noodle has consistently always been tender and delicious). The lunch special with the crab rangoons was also a bit of a let-down in that the crab rangoons are pretty small. Each can be consumed in essentially one bite. I'm also not sure if there is a portion size difference between the lunch special vs getting it as a regular entree (I believe they are virtually the same price). If there's no portion-size difference, then I guess it's a better deal because you get two small freebies. But if there is a portion-size difference, then it doesn't feel worth it. Regarding spiciness levels - I love spicy foods so I always opt for the hottest available, which for Lamoon is "Thai Hot". For me, it ranged from a very mild kick to a moderate kick, depending on the dish (not sure if it's b/c the ingredients of different dishes would mask the spiciness more or if it was inconsistent application), but nothing that made me sweat like some places do. If you enjoy spicy at all and have some level of tolerance, I think "Thai Hot" would be fine for you. At the end of the day, I would say that the food averages out to be on the decent end, with some above average selections and some sub-par ones. It's nearby and convenient for me so I would likely get it again but not a place I would say to travel out of your way for. My wife tells me that her in-person experience was excellent and so I may come back and update this if that makes enough of a difference for me to change my review.

Clean restaurant with friendly staff and great Thai food. Not greasy or heavy. We loved the Lamoon sampler plate for appetizers. The orange chicken was very good and nice portion. Green curry was creamy, sweet with a hint of vanilla. Fried rice is very tasty and not oily. All portions were reasonably priced. We will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed this great Thai Resturant! From the moment we walked in we felt the vibe... The menu has a large selection of our favorites.... and everything we ate was extremely fresh and tasty! The restaurant is clean comfortable and spacious! We look forward to our next visit and highly recommend it to others...

A nice new comfortable restaurant. Pretty fair prices with kind staff. The Thai iced tea has an interesting flavor. A sweet milk like taste at the beginning into an aftertaste I didn't quite enjoy. The drunk noodles had a good flavor, the chicken and shrimp were good, the beef was a bit more rough. But overall enjoyable food.

We were so excited to try this new Thai restaurant and it was fantastic! The inside was very beautiful, sleek and clean. That staff was extremely nice and made us feel welcomed the second we walked in. Our experience only got better once the food came out. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. We can not wait to come back again and try more on the menu. We orders the chicken satay, pad Thai, spicy basil and yellow curry. The fried rice was some of the best I've ever eaten.

The food is delicious! The best Thai food in the area With generous portions. The service was wonderful! The restaurant was super clean and the ambiance was perfect. This is my new favorite place!

Pad See Ew is fantastic here! So savory and delicious. Crab Rangoon as an appetizer is perfect. Creamy inside and thin, crispy outside. Besides the food, the service is perfect! Really nice staff and no miscommunication when ordering. The decorations are also beautiful. The interior has beautiful floral wallpaper and cool wooden spoons/artwork on the walls. Can't wait to come back!

Food was decent however they were out of most of what we ordered for pickup and never contacted us. Picked up what little food was left in the order 35 minutes after it was said to be ready and it wasn't hot any longer. We were not late, the food wasn't ready. Hard to review with food missing and cold food. No phone number listed to get in touch. May try again to dine in but will be very cautious

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and extremely clean and orderly. The service was phenomenal and the server was extremely friendly, prompt and helpful. They have an extensive menu and everything our group of four ordered was delicious. Menu prices were very reasonable in the 10-20 dollar range. A very pleasant experience.

Just tried this place last night for the first time. We got the shrimp khao soy and vegetarian pad Thai. Both items were hot and fresh and flavorful. Service was great and the restaurant was spotless. We will be back!

Truly a rare gem - an authentic Thai cooking restaurant and it's in Mundelein!!! If you have been to Thailand and eaten a gee meals there, you'd know the flavor profiles. This restaurant has it! Oh the peanut sauce from the fresh spring rolls is "home made" in taste! Wow!

Tried Lamoom Thai for 1st time tonight. Outstanding! Food was fabulous, service was great & ambiance was modern, bright & airy. Food was perfect wfor a very warm, humid night. Dishes we selected were light, but filling. Can't wait to go back & try other menu items.

Food was average, service was poor because the people were rude and they talked to each other in their language every time I said something to them. Overall, my issue with them is that they are extremely expensive. The bill came to $24 per person without gratuity for an entree and drink. This was their lunch special! I am not impressed.

A must try! I ordered the lunch special with Tofu Pad Thai. It was some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had. Not too oily, great amount of flavor, and a good portion size. Attentive service and a calming atmosphere inside. Can't wait to go back!

Food was so delicious. Quick service and food was really well made and nothing is like overly drenched in sauce or too salty like some places do. Mango sticky rice was also delicious.

From the friendly staff, to the beautifully warm and charming interior and an extensive, delicious offering of food, Lamoon Thai has it all! We are so glad we gave it a try! Their lunch menu is a delicious delight. The fresh ginger salad and the crab Rangoon appetizer were a delicious beginning and the entrees; stir fried ginger and veggies and Panang curry - simply outstanding! Portions are healthy and the food is served warm and well seasoned! Please give it a try, you'll be glad you did!!!

Nice clean restaurant. Great service. The spring roll was fresh and yummy. The Pad Prik Khing (sp?) was fantastic. The Laad Nar was a bit too sweet and noodles perhaps a bit overcooked and was not so tasty. Would definitely go back. Maybe will try the Pad See Ew (I've never really figured out which to order, but I'm vegan, so was avoiding the egg)

Went for the first time tonight, absolutely the best Thai food I have tried in the suburbs, there were 3 of us and we tried several dishes and all were great, super clean dining room and a very friendly staff. I would highly recommend

Enjoyed lunch with 2 friends at Lamoon Thai, which is a very attractive, new restaurant in Mundelein. We shared 3 lunch specials which all come with a small salad and 2 crab Rangoons. We had the drunken noodles, deluxe veggies and Thai ginger with rice. All 3 were served hot, crispy veggies and delicious. Lots of sauces to spice it up if you like. Service and staff very helpful with questions.

Great Pad See Eiew- Chicken - had the hot and medium spice preparation. Ordered the lunch special to-go and food was ready and hot when I arrived. The crab Rangoon was good but could have been more "crabby." The staff was very kind - they had to work through some credit-card stuff with their vendor but cash took care of the temporary hiccups! Excited to try some different items on the menu!

I visited two weeks ago on two different occasions. My first experience was with a takeout order of green curry with beef. I was so disappointed to find it was not authentic Thai. It was overly sweet and the beef was not tender. I also took home an order of Tom Kha soup which was also too sweet. My second experience was eating in the restaurant for early evening dinner. I spoke with the server and asked about the sweetness of the dishes. I was told that if I didn't want it so sweet they would dilute it with more broth. That was very disappointing as there should not be that much sweetness in authentic Thai food. I ordered chicken pad Thai less sweet. It still was too sweet for me and not that authentic balance between sweet and tart that Pad Thai should have. The chicken was dried out and tough. I also ordered Tom Yum soup with tofu. The tofu was fried too long and was very tough. I live in a retirement community close by and was so hoping that this would be good food that I could purchase a couple of times a week. Unfortunately I don't think this restaurant is going to work for me.

So delicious! Ordered carryout for lunch. Had the chicken pad thai, chicken red curry, and eggplant with chicken. Spicy for all 3 dishes. Ready in 15 minutes. So good! Will definitely be regulars!
