Lam's Kitchen - Review - Chinatown - Oahu - The Infatuation

"Lam’s Kitchen in Chinatown nails noodles in all its forms: there’s glistening beef chow fun, steaming hot saimin, and won ton egg noodle soup. But a trip to this casual place isn’t valid without an order of the look fun rolls. The platter of rolled and sliced rice noodles arrives wiggly, chewy, and ready for the requisite soy sauce downpour. There’s usually a wait around lunchtime when office workers descend from their nearby high rises for some midday sustenance, but tables turn quickly." - Julia Chen

Lam’s Kitchen – A Traditional Chinese Noodle Shop in the Heart of Honolulu’s Chinatown Lam’s Kitchen is a small, old-fashioned noodle shop nestled in the bustling Chinatown district of Honolulu. The place seats only about 30 people, so even though we came during a regular lunch hour, my family and I had to wait around 20 minutes to get a table. I ordered the fish noodle soup – the broth was clear and light, with a clean, subtle flavor. The fish was not fried but cooked directly in the soup, making the meat firm, fresh, and pleasantly mild. It’s a good choice for those who enjoy traditional, light flavors. My husband and child had the stir-fried beef rice noodles – a more memorable dish. The wide, chewy noodles were stir-fried hot with tender slices of beef, and the dish carried a distinct smoky aroma from the wok – adding a layer of depth and authenticity. Lam’s Kitchen may not offer groundbreaking cuisine, but it delivers an honest, traditional Chinese dining experience. If you have time while visiting Chinatown, it’s worth trying at least once.

Hi Aloha

Google
They are known for their wok hei (breath of the wok) , but you really come here for fresh made look fun (steam rice noodle roll) . Most popular dish is their soup braised tendon/brisket, wonton, look fun. Other popular dishes are boiled liver with ginger onion, and jook (rice porridge). If you decide to get noodles instead of look fun , get the rice noodle on the side and try it with seaseme sauce / hot sauce. If you get jook, don’t forget to get a side of fried donut . Around lunch time you there most likely will be a wait.

Google
We got the chow fun with choysum, fried donuts and beef and tendon look fun in soup. The soup dish was good, comforting but leaning towards too salty for us. The chow fun was lacking smokiness, overpowered by the sauce. Texture of noodle was amazing tho. The donuts were great too. Service was quick. We sat next to a larger group and had to share condiments which was a little awkward.

Google
The food was very comforting, reminded me of home. I got the beef look fun soup and added wontons. The chinese doughnut was also very good paired with the soup.

Google
Loved everything we ordered. Beef noodle was the best I have had in US. There were whole shrimps in the wonton. Rice plate was tasty too. Ginger chicken was a little underwhelming compared to other dishes.

Google
Hands down the best hole in the wall, yet not whole in wall Chinese joint ever! We always order the Beef Flank and Tendon egg noodle and hubby orders the look fun, and we add wontons! It's Heaven in a bowl! The tendon is nice and tender while the beef practically melts in your mouth...and the wontons, the wontons with a blend of chewy ground pork and pieces of shrimp round out the deliciousness of the wontons! If you get the jook, make sure to order early because they run out! We lucked out today and they still had it. And the Chinese donut....oh they make it fresh to order so it comes out piping hot and crispy! We didn't order it this time but their look fun roll is full of carbs but...but it's worth every calorie, try it, trust me. You'll be fat, but a happy fatty! I highly recommend this place, it's good and it hits the spot!

Came to Chinatown on the weekend to support some businesses after they had to close for three days due power outages. My friend suggested we have lunch here, for their look fun and chow fun. It was an education in rice noodles in an intimate setting with so much character. We ate family style, selecting two dishes to share: bittermelon and pork, and beef flank and beef tendon chow fun with an order of wontons to go with. Both were some of the tastiest Chinese dishes I’ve had in Hawaii, full of flavor without resorting to heat. I know Chinatown is full of amazing little restaurants, but this place is my new favorite!

Yelp
8/16/25 Been trying to cut back eating carbs... 1st time having Wonton Soup vs Wonton Noodles This is my new favorite dish here Definitely less carbs plus more of their Tasty Juicy Plump Pork n Shrimp filled treats Thin wrappers too! I counted at least 12 pieces Soup w sliced Won Bok was very flavorful n filling I had a taste of the Beef Bitter Melon over Rice dish Meat was very tender Melon had just the right amount of bitterness n Gravy had a little Black Bean flavor... Ono! Made a dipping sauce of their House Chili Oil n Red Vinegar... Mmmmm!

Yelp
One of the best beef chow fun dishes on the island! The noodles were perfectly stir-fried with that smoky flavor, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The portion size was generous and definitely satisfying. The wait time was short, and the service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's clean, well-kept, and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My partner dropped me off the beef tendon look fun soup from Lam's Kitchen for lunch today -- seriously, he's the best ever...it's one of my favorite! And let me tell you, it absolutely hit the spot. Lam's is one of those places where the line is always long, but completely worth it. Everything on the menu is solid. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the portion size was super generous for the price. I'm a huge fan of their rice soup and wonton mein too -- hands down the best on the island. Comfort food at its finest. Prices are reasonable, service is quick, and the flavors are on point. If you haven't tried Lam's yet, go! You'll thank yourself later.

Yelp
I'm disappointed to report that I won't return here anymore due to the persistence of bugs in the food, and the lack of acknowledgement from the staff. I come here often, and this is my second time in a row that there were bugs in my soup. The last time there was a small cockroach, and they said it was a shrimp, but took it away immediately. This time there were at least 7 small bugs, I stopped fishing them out after that point. They told me they were bones. I understand things happen, and the normal thing is to acknowledge that you've delivered a product that includes item it shouldn't and not expect someone to pay for the bowl of soup that included the bugs. I'm attaching photos of the "bones" that show the legs of these small bugs. There were wings and other pieces of the bugs in the soup as well. I went back and they offered me a 10% discount which is $1.30. I told them I'd rather pay $1 to not have so many bugs in my soup. It was unappetizing. If you do go, I'd definitely check to make sure you're not consuming insects you're not planning to.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place for so long and was not disappointed!!! The food is very authentic and hit the spot exactly for a good Chinese noodle and breakfast. The preserved egg & pork porridge was just like my parents have made and the beef noodle soup was the star of the show. The broth was perfectly savory and the beef was so tender. The fried dough was also very reminiscent of what I ate growing up, although I wish they didn't cut it into pieces before. Service is quick and hassle free, in and out kind of sit down eating. It was definitely pretty bustling at noon on Sunday but tables were moving quickly. There is limited seating inside.

Yelp
Finally made it to Lam's Kitchen in Chinatown. We luckily found parking right around the corner and popped in. Lam's has a small interior with a few tables and chairs. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the beef chow fun and a noodle soup. Food came relatively quickly despite how busy the restaurant was, and everything was delicious. We also enjoyed the condiments on the table. We saw a lot of people come in for both dine-in and take out, and Lam's was busy the entire time we were there.

Yelp
My 1st destination upon arriving in Honolulu. Friday afternoon around 3PM, 30 minutes before closing time. The place was empty only one other table is occupied. Food is still as good as I remembered. Many regulars came for take outs while we dined and they were still taking phone orders till closing time.

Yelp
Decent, inexpensive, unassuming spot in Chinatown. We have been here a few times and it doesn't disappoint for the value. We ordered: Ginger Chicken on Rice (A-): It's cold (they will warn you a few times haha). The oil comes on the side which is nice, so you can decide how little or how much you want to drench it. The chicken itself was pretty lean both times I ordered it. Beef and Tendon On Noodles(A): The noodles are certainly the highlight of this one. They were a little heavy handed on the sauce the day we ordered. Overall, very flavorful. They will charge a credit card fee, so if you have debit or cash you can save a little $$. Service was quick and efficient. Both times we went were weekend days at lunch time, and around 12pm the waitlist started with 10ish minute waits. We noticed the fried donuts seemed to be pretty popular as the late breakfast people left, so we may order that next time. Just about everyone in the restaurant had one!

Yelp
Lam's is comfort Cantonese food defined. I love wontons and their wontons are perfectly seasoned and the right texture. The braised beef and tendon is absolutely melt in your mouth. I've also had the look fun in the past and with their sauce mix, it tastes like I'm eating street food in Hong Kong. They always have a steady stream of customers come in and out of the store. This is a hole in the wall worth trying. Casual. Street parking. Fast service. Please come and create your own experience.

Yelp
One of my must go places. The restaurants is fairly small but the food makes me feel like home lol. Their funn noodles is really fresh, this place takes the basics in soup noodle and chow funn to the most satisfying level. The services is good and because the place is small, its a tad noisy.

Yelp
Lam's Kitchen - that's what comes to mind every time we're craving some comfort food. Having grown up essentially loving the true craft of a good dry beef chow fun or just a legit bowl of won ton mien, I'd never been disappointed with Lam's. Our most recent visit was on the day we landed back in Honolulu after our honeymoon in Japan. Yes, it's no longer "first stop, Zippy's" - it is indeed first stop, Lam's. Of course, I got the classic dry beef chow funn. "Funn Fact," my dad (former executive chef) actually comes to Lam's to just buy their plain look funn to bring home and cook. Their look funn noodles are probably some of the best you can get in Chinatown, but back to the actual dishes. Flawless is all I can say. It took me years to come to the realization that the thing I love so much about beef chow funn ever since childhood, was the wok hei - an aroma or fragrance, you might call it from being cooked at an extremely high heat - similar to a type of char you might experience in American cooking. Wok hei not commonly replicable at home and these are the types of dishes I strive to eat when I'm out because it is a certainty that I can't recreate it at home without a special set of equipment, not to mention skills to handle the wok. Lam's is also a place where I run into many old friends, co-workers, and family. I believe it brings a lot of us happiness and the fact that I can randomly run into people I know here just proves that I have people in my life with good tastes. Highly recommend making a stop by Lam's during your next trip to Chinatown.

Yelp
Lam's Kitchen is a cozy mom and pop shop that serves up one of my favorite comfort meals and their duck look fun is truly a hug in a bowl. The broth is so flavorful and the duck is so tender, but the real star of the show is their chili oil. It's garlicky and packs a little punch and is my favorite chili oil I've ever had. If they sold it, I would always have a bottle in my fridge. It's been a long time since I've dined in but the service is always fast. Even as delivery, it takes less than an hour. Delivery has been my go to and is easy to order online. Next time you're craving a delicious bowl of noodle soup, Lam's Kitchen is the answer!

Yelp
Just another gem hidden along the streets of Chinatown. Heard so many good things about Lam's Kitchen and finally made our way down. It's not a big restaurant, so plan to come a little before lunch hours to make sure you can get a seat. There were a few open tables when we arrived around 11am on a Saturday. Street parking is easy around that time on Pauahi as well. We also noticed a LOT of takeout orders, if that sounds easier for you. The aunties are brisk but polite. Choose from a large selection of fresh look fun (like super soft chow funn) dishes, rice porridge (chinese style juk), or rice plates. Make sure you get a side of chinese donut with anything soupy and give it a good dip - so ono. - Beef Rice Soup ($10.50) - Savory porridge, grainier than Korean juk and different spices. If you like juk, this is definitely worth trying. Massive serving with lots of beef, definitely want to try some different proteins next time. - Duck Look Fun in Soup ($11.99) - Easily the star of the show. Big chonks of juicy braised duck, atop tender bokchoi and a mountain of fresh, soft look fun. Considering prices for a bowl of fresh noodles these days, this is an absolute steal. - Beef w/ Black Bean Sauce Chow Fun ($13.50) - Bursting with savory black bean flavor and adorned with large, tender cuts of beef. The serving feels a little underwhelming compared to the look fun in soup, and costs a little more. Chinese Donut Stick ($3/order) - Please get a side of this to dip in your soup! It's comes cut into manageable bites, and is so delicious when carrying a broth. So fresh, delicious, and affordable. I can't believe this place has been around for so long and we just tried it! As they say, better late than never.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Located on the Mauka side of Maunakea street , right across Pauahi Florist. Short menu of either choice of meat with rice or noodles. I did a take out of the beef chowfun and the beef flank , tendon with pieces of cheung fun and Choi sum ( off the menu). I wish I had more tendon and less look fun and more beef in the chow fun. The chowfun was dry to me. Dishes was cooked with soy sauce but a little light on the taste. It was a light savory and does taste much better with the chili oil. I want a lot of chili oil. I'll definitely go back to try the look fun soups and wontons. I'll go for the fish too. I want to dine next time and try the sauces they have in the table. Mood: Satisfied, but still hungry, I'll order more Will I go back? Definitely

Yelp
I went ahead and ordered what the staff suggested. It's beef noodles soup and apparently their best seller. The beef was really soft and tender. Flavor was deep. Soup was hot enough. I have to reduce a star because it's REALLY fast paced. They rush for your order and clear your dish right after your last bite. I understand they want to serve as many people as they can, but it's by far the "fastest" place I've been. I went in and out in 30 minutes. Small size noodles place. Not a lot of tables and not a lot of room to stand while waiting as well. It's in Chinatown so better park in nearby parking lot and it's a 2 minutes walk to the restaurant.

Yelp
Sit down, order quickly, no frills, no problem!! Coworker and I both had the beef tendon with chow dum noodles and boy what an umami blast of flavors! Add in some house made chili oil and it totally made our day. Will be back another time for the longer Chinese donuts for dipping as well. Food here comes quickly, service is also fast and efficient. Items are priced well and it is street parking.

Yelp
Small busy unassuming restaurant. You can hear the staff talk in Cantonese, so you know it will be good. Loved the pork congee with the fried donut. The hubs had the beef and tendon noodle soup. Both were delicious but I loved my congee more - it's comfort food for breakfast.

Yelp
Always the freshest noodles and tender beef stew meat. Men to dozens of other places here and on the mainland. Lams still the best!

Yelp
Lam's Kitchen has consistently been one of our local favorites in Chinatown. Though parking is sometimes a bit stressful, we always find a way to make it work. (4-page menu posted) Today we got the #11 Look Fun noodles with Beef and Tendon as well as the Pork and Bitter melon. These are our usual dishes, though the fish with look fun noodles is also a nice alternative. The food itself arrived at our table within 5 minutes of ordering despite all tables being full. The noodle soups are consistently piping hot and full of flavor, with the exact same flavor profile and proportions of noodles, broth and beef. I can't explain it, but this is just one of those places you have to go to while in the area. The bitter melon and pork combo is SUPER filling, but don't let the quantity fool you - it's flavor profile strikes me as a dish that has been perfected over the years, and I used to not enjoy bitter melon so much as kid. The service - quick and straight to the point. You sign up, take a seat, get menus, and get served. Promptly. As a new local, we go here at least twice a month, and the quality is as consistent as it gets. And our server, Kelly, always brightens up our moods here!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Worth the wait! Cheung fun - dressed with hoisin peanut sauce. Such a nostalgic dish. Simple yet comforting. Beef chow cheung fun - smoky wok flavor. The beef was tender, heavy gravy which softened the cheung fun a bit. Won tons - a mix of shrimp and pork. Juicy and meaty!

Yelp
Super busy place for lunch even on a Monday morning but there's also only like 8 tables inside. Moved fairly quick though. We got the beef chow fun and it had so much wok hei, super recommend. Huge pieces of tender beef in there as well. ***I really wanted to get the tendon and brisket over the noodles which I saw on other yelp pics but I guess I accidentally ordered one with soup. When it came out I triple checked the menu again and didn't really see another corresponding dish so I think it's the look fun but you have to ask for no soup? The tendon and the meat was good although I personally think it could have been a tad more tender. I didn't really like the dish as much since it came with the soup and maybe that's a personal preference, dilutes that gravy sauce but I'm sure if I had ordered what I actually wanted it would have been pretty good. Was a generous portion though. Tried the chili sate sauce on the tables and didn't really deliver on the spice so maybe siracha is the best bet if you need spicy.

Yelp
Casual Chinatown dining. Food: 3/5 Our group tried the soups and the beef dishes. The general consensus was that the beef dishes with noodles were better than the soups. The broths were weak with little flavor. Some people added soy sauce to get some flavor. The vegetables and wontons were good. Service: 5/5- quick service Facility: 2/5 I like the use of old buildings and maintaining the original ambiance -what i objected to in this case was the dirty bathroom -The trash can was overflowing, and the door looked as if no one had bothered to clean it in ages-just nasty. Location -easy to find on a corner in Chinatown, but small -so look up for the wood sign above the door. There is minimal street parking even for lunch -but the nearby municipal parking garage is within a short walk.

Yelp
Old school hole in the wall. It's been here FOREVER. Totally worth your time and money. Jook is good, lots of chunky cut century egg. Bitter melon with beef cooked with dau see was VERY tasty and beef was extremely tender. We asked if they would make us wonton noodle soup w/ liver, ginger & green onions and put the soup on the side. Came with 6 wontons and large slices of liver. Soup was tasty. My friend got a Chinese donut to dip into the jook. But I'm not a Chinese donut fan in general. BUT we ordered the look fun rolls and it comes with peanut butter and hoisin. I mixed the two then started dipping the donut. BOMB-Deli-icious!!! Try it, you won't regret it. Parking is iffy, it's Chinatown. If you can find street parking, great, otherwise there's a parking lot down the street, across from Maunakea Marketplace.

Yelp
Decent and inexpensive Cantonese food located in Chinatown serving mostly noodle dishes and porridge. Super filling and hearty if you're looking for some classic Cantonese flavors.

Yelp
Located in Chinatown. Portions are pretty good for the price! Hard to find prices in Hawaii that aren't like close to $20 for a plate or bowl of something anymore :( I like getting their beef flank and tendon look fun and their beef chow fun. I have also had their Chinese doughnut sticks as a side. The bowl of noodles was huge - very filling for one person! Their beef chow fun was cooked very well, noodles weren't overcooked and the flavor was perfectly distributed. Love coming here for some good Chinese food

Yelp
Been coming here for years and always forget to post about their amazing food. Located on maunakea st. in Chinatown. Limited seating but worth the wait. Homemade look fun that's soft and fresh! Homemade wun ton that can be added to any dish or as a side order. All the chow fun dishes are good. They are known for the beef flank with tendon look fun soup. My husband always gets the beef with bittermelon look fun, add wun ton. This place is a classic and hope it remains the same for many years!

Yelp
First time I've ever been to this establishment, located on the Ewa side of Maunakea Street at the corner of Pauahi Street. My primary reason to go is because I was in need of some won ton noodle soup and I knew they made it here. It was a bit busy (it's a small place) so I was able to put in my order (I asked for gai lan & the gentleman behind the counter said they may have won bok, but asked the kitchen & they only had cabbage). Only had to wait about 5 minutes and was on my way home. The noodles were Hong Kong style (skinny but firm), the won ton delicious and the broth delicious. They included a small container of hot chili oil which I added to the soup for a bit of heat. This place will become my go-to for this soup from now on. PS I was so hungry that I forgot to take a photo but I did capture the outside for folks who haven't been here yet.

Yelp
I love this place! Food is consistently fast and delish! So glad they have an online ordering system--ordered when I parked my car, did my chinatown shopping, then picked up my take out on the way back to my car. Perfect! I feel like I get more food dining in, but it's still deliciously awesome. Highly recommend any of the funn with a little hot sauce. Jook is great too. One thing to note--best to eat fresh. Don't save it for later.

Yelp
This place sells handmade noodle. The quality can compare to what you can get from Hong Kong. Our group ordered the fish one and the beef tendon one. We also tried the wonton noodle soup as well. Definitely recommend the beef tenden one. VERY TENDER and SOFT. You can skip the wonton noodle soup as the wonton only had a little shrimp and the egg noodle was the same as the one you can get from supermarket. The Handmade flat noodle on the other hand was amazing. The downside is that the restaurant is TINY and they have servers who walks around constantly to make sure you leaves as soon as you finish the meal. Definitely felt being rushed.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant for over six years now not sure how long they've been there, but this place is incredible Luckily, during Covid, they did shift over to online ordering, which is fantastic Post Covid downtown Honolulu does not have a five day work on site requirement for companies online during lunch is no longer common place which is fantastic Came here on a weekday during lunchtime and was seated immediately, which was great saw alot of the pick up orders and take out orders as well You come here because you want authentically good delicious food at a very fair price with very good portions. You do not come here because you care about ambience or service. Although I will say service, the usual kind, friendly service, but it is very quick to the point. This is a true staple and gem in Honolulu downtown and or Chinatown eating.

Yelp
THE BEST BEEF CHOW FUN IN THE US (and overall, just amazing Cantonese food). I got recommended this spot from some friends as the "best beef chow fun in the US" that they've ever had (as Chinese immigrants), and I can see why they said this. When you first enter the shop, it is fairly small and can feel a bit crowded, but once you get a seat it'll be fine! They have a fairly diverse menu, and I wanted to try it all but I ended up just getting the beef chow fun and the beef look fun with wontons (as an add-on) as it was just my boyfriend and I. They serve hot tea, if you ask and helps wash down any feeling of oiliness from the food. The food comes out fairly fast, and in huge portions (I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish one by myself). And simply put, both dishes were phenomenal. There was the saucy and smoky flavor that I LOVE in beef chow fun, and the meat was plentiful. In the beef look fun, the noodles were chewy, the broth was comforting, and the wontons were amazing. Overall, a big comfort food spot, and one of my favorites on the island now. I highly highly recommend coming here if you love Chinese food, it is truly a hidden gem.

Yelp
I always have intended to try Lam's for years but every time I went it was crowded with a wait list. I finally got a table with no waiting on a Saturday about 10:30, which was fine because I didn't have breakfast yet. After checking out Lam's on Yelp I was intent on ordering beef and tendon, one of my favorite dishes at Chinese restaurants. I opted for rice because the weather was too hot for soup noodles. The dish was delicious but I was disappointed in the amount of tendon in it and the portion I got did not resemble the pictures that I had seen on Yelp. The pictures I've seen had quite a bit of tendon in it and the portions were noticeably bigger. Oh well. Besides that I would return because there are more dishes that I would like to try and the prices are good.

Yelp
After I had finished eating at a Vietnamese restaurant on Maunakea Street, I noticed a line outside Lam's Kitchen made up of elderly Chinese people. I immediately knew that I had to give them a try and I'm very glad that I did. The first time I ate there, my Chinese friend from the Ferrari club and his wife were picking up a takeout order. The second time I went there, my wife's Chinese cousin was eating there with his wife. Now you know that it's got to be good and it's got to be a good deal. What makes Lam's Kitchen special is that they make their own look fun (wide) noodles daily. Fresh made noodles makes a world of difference! Overall: ***** Recommended ***** Food: ***** Value: ***** Menu: **** Ambiance: *** Service: **** Parking: **** (municipal lot behind) RATINGS & RECOMMENDED ORDER: Beef Flank & Tendon Look Fun = A Won Ton Look Fun = A Choy Sum & Fish Filet Chow Fun = B (more to come) Website: https://lamskitchenhawaii.com/ Yelp: https://yelp.to/rZfp8sQf9l YELP: Sorry! They allow only one 12 second video & the remaining to 3 seconds, with maximum of 10 pictures/videos. The full video can be found elsewhere. RATINGS KEY: A = Really Good - one of the best B = Good - would order again C = ok - similar, nothing special D = Not very good - wouldn't order F = Terrible - avoid

Yelp
Lam's Kitchen is a family favorite featuring noodle soup that leaves you feeling satisfied without the bloat of your typical salty dive into a pool of Ajinomoto. The menu has a wide range of dishes with all sorts of protein giving you plenty to choose from. Try the soy milk (available to go too) for extra fun and flavor. It's not like your usual soy milk drink and leans closer to tofu. If you're familiar with soy milk in Japan, you might enjoy this take on soy milk. Parking is available on the street and a paid lot within a block from the restaurant. Be prepared to eat quickly. Service is fast and friendly. You'll just need to beat the crowd because this place gets packed around lunch time.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! Hole in the wall; delicious. Excellent chow fun dishes. Prefer the tasty beef with chow fun while the pork was also good as the noodles seem so fresh. The beef with string beans over rice was a good portion too. Although bathroom was typical Chinatown dirty, go before and enjoy the food and service. Or order takeout in advance and park in loading zone to quickly run in. May wanna try the beef soup next time.

Yelp
Came to Chinatown on the weekend to support some businesses after they had to close for three days due power outages. Li Y suggested we have lunch here, for their look fun and chow fun. It was an education in rice noodles in an intimate setting with so much character. We ate family style, selecting two dishes to share: bittermelon and pork, and beef flank and beef tendon chow fun with an order of wontons to go with. Both were some of the tastiest Chinese dishes I've had in Hawaii, full of flavor without resorting to heat. I know Chinatown is full of amazing little restaurants, but this place is my new favorite! Mahalo Li Y for introducing me to this place!

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE Lam's Kitchen. Even when it's crowded you still find a table. I can't get enough of their look fun soups. Off the menu items are my favorite, as well. Won ton with beef tendon. It's the only Chinese restaurant that makes me not want to eat family style. I edge the dishes closer and closer to me. Don't wanna share.

Yelp
Great place to have breakfast after work. Fast service & small but quant dine-in Hong Kong style cuisine restaurant. Street parking or you could park in the municipal parking nearby. - Chow Cheong Fun w/ beef, tendon, & veggies 10/10. Asked them if they did stir fried Cheong fun & they did! So added all the toppings. Chewy and savory stir fried Cheong fun with super tender beef and melt in your mouth tendon. Veggies are crunchy & not bitter. Would definitely get this everytime I go here. - Won ton 8/10. Simple wonton with tons of filling & soft, chewy skin. Love the veggies on the bottom too. - Chinese fried donut 10/10. Must get! So crispy and addicting!! Ordered another round of this because it was just THAT GOOD. I could literally order only this and be happy. Outside is hella crispy & inside is soft. Pairs well with the jook and just by itself! Other friends got the Century egg jook & look fun roll. I didn't taste it but they seemed to enjoy it a lot & get it every time they come here.

Yelp
Arrived at around noon, and it was busy. We placed our names on the wait list and were seated within 10 minutes. Customers were arriving non-stop to either place a to-go order or wait to be seated. Hubs ordered the beef noodle soup and Chinese donuts. The donuts arrived first - hot and crispy. Good way to start the meal. Hubs enjoyed the noodles - soup was flavorful and beef was tender. I ordered the chow cheung (look) fun with wonton, but was told later they ran out of the look fun. So, it came with the chow fun instead. Took a while to get my order. Noticed other tables who arrived after getting their noodles first. They brought it out shortly after I asked for the status. The wonton were full of meat - hubs and kiddo couldn't try them as they had shrimp in them (they're allergic). As for the chow fun, enough for kiddo and me to share. They were hot and good. At times, a bit salty but flavorful. We enjoyed our meals. Hubs now wants to return. Note - While we were there, overheard they also ran out of chow fun. So, might want to arrive early if look fun or chow fun is what you want or risk they may have run out.

Yelp
When we are craving noodles, Lam's Kitchen is our #1 go to place! There is nothing like a bowl of steaming fresh noodle soup along with your favorite toppings. They are known for their freshly made wide rice noodles. The texture is a mix of soft and chewy, it absorbs flavor so well and is absolutely delicious! My favorite here is the beef flank and tendon noodle soup but my husband prefers fish fillet noodles. The portions are so large and price is very reasonable. They are very busy during lunch hours and weekends so come early and sign up. The service is fast and food comes out quickly so the wait is definitely worth it!

Yelp
The remodel helps create a cleaner environment and better atmosphere for dining in. The food is still amazing as usual and great if you're hungover. The porridge or Chinese Rice soup really hits the spot.

Yelp
Lam's Kitchen has emerged and survived the roller coaster ride of Chinatown. The brisket and tendon LookFun soup is still No Ka Oi! Patience when it's busy, the family owned and operated staff will get you in to enjoy their unique cuisine.

Yelp
Wonton noodle soup is AMAZING! I could drink gallons of that broth!! Look fun was super soft and a must. Beef chow fun (dry & wet) were extremely flavorful!! 1,000% would come back! Quick-friendly service. Reasonably priced!

Yelp
If you want to eat some authentic Cantonese breakfast and lunch, this is your place. There is a noodle factory around the corner of this place, but even that owner recommend us to buy the rice noodle here instead (the top left picture). Everything we ordered was good. Ask them about the fresh soymilk too if you are here for breakfast and eat it with some fried food, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Busy hole in the wall. Was recommended by locals so of course we went. My mom and I made friends with the neighboring table and got 2 dishes that were highly rated. Beef noodle soup: tender beef, amazing broth, noodles are so smooth, soft. Beef chow fun: tender beef, smooth and soft noodles with a good amount of chew. The aroma of the wok sizzling the sauces was so tasty. Tried the liver stir fry- super fresh, not very iron-y. Very easy to eat. Thin egg noodle stir fry (forgot the name) - lots of scallions, ginger. Light flavor, easy to eat. Overall amazing quality and volume of food. This place will be a staple!!

Yelp
Good place to get your chinese soup noodle fix. They have a great beef brisket in soup which you can get with your choice of noodle type or even won ton. They have other specialty look funn type noodles and do them well. Seating can be tight if you go during peak hours. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.

Yelp
Family lunch at Lam's Kitchen...We were at my sister's house in Pauoa when it was lunchtime. Remembering all the good reviews from Yeeps like Cindy L, Nadine C, Paul C, Peter C, Rod U, Fran C, Judy C, Lora C, Daniel C, Lisa T, I suggested Lam's Kitchen. And away we go! A small restaurant on Maunakea near Pauahi in Chinatown, capacity is under 30. I dropped off my sister & mother at LK, and I used the municipal parking on Beretania at Hale Pauahi. Even though it can have quite a line to order takeout or wait for a table, by the time i came in, my sister & mother were already seated and ordered our food. My order was their famous beef tendon with look fun soup, plus an order of soft won ton to share. The food soon arrived, piping hot! The beef tendon soup was delicious and so savory, especially the broth! I'm probably doing it a disservice, but the taste reminded me of pho. And the soft won ton was a great palate cleanser that prompted to eat more! Still it was enough for a leftover meal. Total with tax before tip was under $50, average these days still very enjoyable. Someplace to repeat and recommend!

Yelp
Very busy hole in the wall in China friends have been wanting me to visit. Last time we tried on a Tuesday, the only day they're closed, lol. Finally went today and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was only 2 of us this time so ordered the beef flank and tendon look fun soup and beef and choy sum chow fun. Both came out piping hot and were tasty. The portions were healthy for the price. We wanted donut sticks but we were too full. Luckily the person next to us heard us and she offered us a taste. They were crispy and crunchy. We liked them, but they weren't exactly sweet. So glad I was finally able to come. The inside is small and simple. Be sure to put your name on the list as soon as you get there. As for parking it's either metered street or one of the parking garages. We always park Hale Pauahi Minicipal garage. Short walk and inexpensive
