Lan Huê Sandwich and Bakery

Always a fun little spot to visit. There is usually a bit of a language barrier but manageable. Free parking for a couple of hours but the drive to the lot is scary steep. We always do the buy 5 get 1 free and have leftovers for dinner. The pastries are usually pretty good too. Prices have gone up but still very affordable. Note: jalapenos in the sandwich can get spicy.

I enjoyed the banh mi that I got at Lan Hue. I got there around 9am and they were still getting prepared for the day. I think I originally heard about Lan Hue from the Seattle Times but hadn’t made it there until recently. The place is pretty big and there are cases of baos, iced drinks, and pate alongside the sandwich fixings. I did notice a distinct camphor scent while I smell it in Asian shops, it isn’t my preferred deli smell. Anyways, I’ve been trying banh mi around the city and their version is very good. In the Seattle Times article they recommended the grilled beef, so I ended up with that one. The grilled beef is basically like a sausage without the casing that is cooked on a skewer. The sandwich had two of the grilled beef sausages, a slice of cucumber, jalapenos, and cilantro. I think the addition of tart carrots and daikon would have been good as well. Overall though, the sandwich was very good. I really enjoyed the flavor of the grilled beef. It was caramelized and had scallions, garlic, and lemongrass in it from what I could tell. The bread was nice a crusty as well. At $4.50 it’s a good deal and I would consider returning for the grilled beef banh mi.

Highly recommend this place if you need a quick belly fill up. Ban mi here is big and full of goods for the right price. They had special buy 5 get 1 free. I gave this place a 5 stars because they make their own bread and everything else except the meat. I don’t go for Vietnamese food often but this place got my vote to come back whenever I am in the area.

Best sandwich in Seattle. *free parking in the garage above according to the sign on the door* Had two sandwiches, the tofu #5 and the #6 dac biet, a steamed bao bun, iced coffee and a coconut bun. The sandwich bread was fresh and perfectly crispy in the outside. A well done baguette. The veggies were plentiful and fresh. The tofu was "light and fluffy yet deliciously crispy" according to my girlfriend. The meats are the best part. In particular the pate. Everything looks amazing. Some bahn mi places in Seattle have sad meats that look like broken sausage patties. These meats are beautiful. The steamed bun had a quail egg and some meat and was freshly steamed for us. Huge points for that. The coffee was strong and not too sweet. The coconut ball was dense and scrumptious. I really enjoy that you can decide between 15 (maybe more) bahn mi's separated by region "seattle" has the grilled meats and tofu, "Paris" the various combos with patè, and "Saigon" with things like pork belly. So much to try here, and really kind and helpful workers. They are happy to describe the items if you ask.

Loving the sandwiches and little egg yolk sweet and salty pastry. I recommend any sandwich with the pate in it. It’s yummy! And still a good deal. A rarity in Seattle

Good Vietnamese sandwiches at very comparable prices (that is, if you consider buying 5 at $20 and get the 6th free). The Special sandwiches are well stuffed. It consists of several kinds of VNmese salamis. I tried the pork belly sandwich, which I wasn't impressed with. I thought there would be several layers of the meat so the amount of it would equate to what you'd get in a Special, but i was wrong. It's also not as good as the same type as sold by Thanh Son tofu where they chop up the pork belly vs slicing it. The store also sells a variety of baked goods and drinks ($3 vn coffee, thai iced tea, sugar cane (coming soon)). The pate chaud is good, fluffy, and buttery. Bathroom available.

When I'm in the mood for a good Banh Mi this is where I go. The bread is always fresh and perfectly chewy, fillings are fresh and the staff has been friendly every time. They have a great selection of sandwich options, drinks and delicious baked goods (I'd recommend the coconut bun) all for a great price.

The banh mi I get where I live does not have so many choices. But they do have lemongrass beef. Lan Hue has so many choices it was so hard to choose. We finally chose the #6 combo, beef, and shredded pork and skin. The beef had 5 spice so was not my favorite. The one with the shredded pork skin was good but I wished they had put more. I really liked the #6combo. Every bite was a different experience since you get a different combination of the meat. Sad I cannot go back since we have to try other places and I cannot fly here everytime I am hungry for the combo.

The bread for the banh mi was they also have other bake good here like sweet coconut buns & this was the cheapest place I've see for some Thai tea or viet coffee! They had this cute little moped inside the store as decor that i thought it was such a cute touch to the place & basket full of the baguette The banh mi here was so so good! It was pricer than other places however i find this place has the best ingredients for their banh mi. The daikon within the sandwich was marinated perfectly and not too sweet (which i prefer) This place is attached to a shopping center with other stores down the hallway & parking was limited (i parked on the street!) but not terribly bad. Def recommend this place if you're looking for a banh mi place to try!!

Visiting from out of town and these were just what I needed for a home cook feeling. The bakery is located in a mall styled building with other shops. We came on a Wednesday right before noon. It was so nice to hear the sounds of Vietnamese being spoken - I missing my family (been on the road for almost 10 months). Fresh baguettes are baked daily along with other flaky pastries and buns. Their star items are the traditional bánh mì(s). Some places offer big, crispy and airy baguettes, some offer the traditional skinny, crusty baguettes. I find it is always different everywhere I go. This place had the big, crispy and airy - it was so tasty and filled with so much! The baguette is split in the middle lengthwise and filled with different savory items - homemade buttery mayo, rich liver pate and topped with pickled veggies, crunchy cucumbers, spicy chilies, and fresh cilantro. I love to add jalapeños to mine! We ordered: #6 - Special Combo - Đặc Biệt Jambon, pork brawn, pork bologna (Vietnamese Ham), mayo & pate. Seasoning Sauce Veggie: Pickled Daikon Carrots, Cucumber, Cilantro #2 - Grilled Chicken - Gà Nướng Meat: Lemongrass Grilled Chicken, Hoisin Sauce, Scallion Veggie: Pickled Daikon Carrots, Cucumber, Cilantro , Jalapeños Patechaud Fluffy croissant- like skin ground pork filling A Vietnamese coffee (of course) and passion fruit greentea Everything was delicious! Prices are reasonable Side note: I do remember the days when bánh mì use to be $3 on the East Coast (ha!). You'll enjoy everything! It's a large space, there's seating and there were customers coming in and out for pick up.

I was excited to try Lan Hue after reading all the great reviews. I didn't check the reviews dates, but the place has gone downhill fast. The bread was stale and hard. The worse part was the woman who made my sandwich didn't change her gloves to make my sandwich after I saw her washing dishes with them on. After she made my sandwich she used the same gloved has to handle my money. Gross and unsanitary. Two strikes on one visit. Now I know why the sandwich shop was empty at lunchtime.

Definitely a hidden gem! Although prices have increased to $6 for a banh mi now (fortunately including tax), it's still really great value for a meal compared to eating out at other restaurants. The size of the banh mi is pretty good, and the fixings like julienned carrots, cucumber, jalapeños, etc on top of generous amounts of meat make it filling. Additionally, it seems like they make the baguette in house which is a plus. I can tell by the slightly crunchy texture which, although makes eating the banh mi messy, makes the banh mi even more wonderful. I got #6 Dac Biet which has jambon, pork brawn, pork bologna, and pate. It's pretty much a cold cut type of sandwich but a lot better of course. The general consensus is to get something with pate as that's what makes the banh mi great. I will definitely go again because of the quality and value, even though I won't really be able to take much advantage of the buy 5 get 1 free offer. Though next time I would keep in mind and recommend bringing cash as there's a 50 cent fee if you use credit card under $10!

We are not from around here, but we had high expectations to find a good bánh mì place in seattle. This place did not disappoint! Their pate was so flavorful, the sandwich was packed and large. The price was so affordable compared to many other places! Highly recommend!

I was told recently that the hoisin addition on my red bbq pork sandwich was a mistake. I would still confirm this every time I'm ordering, which probably won't be that often since it's my least favorite of the banh mi shops. They do, however, have the fluffiest, softest banh mi bread. Ultimately, the ratio of bread to filling (mostly bread) significantly alters the banh mi experience. Plus, I like a crunchy bread.

Note that Lan Huê IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT ONLY! My family and I ordered takeout from here last Saturday. They don't have an online ordering system, but they were happy to take my order my phone. We originally were going to order 4 chicken banh mis, but the woman on the phone asked if we wanted to order 5 and get 1 free (our total came to about $24, so a little over $4 per sandwich including tax). They were very prompt and our order was ready within 15 minutes. Parking is scarce as it usually in is Seattle. We had to parallel park on 10th but then got boxed in due to an Amazon Delivery truck. Needless to say, parking is very tight. The sandwiches were very fresh and tasty. I recommend roasting them when you get home if possible for maximum flavor. My only complaint is that the sandwiches didn't contain much filling compared to banh mis from other banh mi shops like Yeh Yeh's in Edmonds. However for about $4 a sandwich, you can't beat the price! Overall: 3.5/5 for food, 5/5 for service

$6 (tax inclusive) for banh mi dac biet. What a STEAL! This place is still as good as always - soft bread, thick filling (look at each piece of cold cut!), we'll pickled veggies, good spread of butter (lard?) and pate. What more can I ask for?

Amazing simple sandwiches. You can taste the 'authenticity' of the sandwiches especially the chicken and pate. Very unique flavor and combination that works. The beef sandwich was amazing too. Also had the pastry- they were great too. Feeling thankful to have access to such authentic banh mi.

This review is for the appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant. We did not get a chance to try their sandwiches. To begin, parking is inside the garage which appears unsafe due go local homeless resting and roaming inside/around the garage. There was about two other cars inside the garage as well. Upon approaching the bakery, there was no one inside the building. The lady inside the bakery was very unwelcoming and did not say anything to us as we walked in. I took a peek at the sandwich toppings and noticed a few flies rested on top of them. We immediately walked out and did not try any of their food.

Food- good, the inside fixings are great in flavor and volume. I ordered one of each sandwich and they're All good depending on your mood. My 1st Gen vietnamese Mom though would go else where due to the bread. Bread is in house made, but not as good as other venues. I knocked off a whole star for the bread. Service- straight forward, not the most smiley lady petite cashier lady. Value- fair, as they give good volume fixings. $5/ sandwich. But 5 sandwiches get one free. Ambiance- spacious. Not for dine in. Good for take out. Has parking in garage (remember to get your ticket or you could be fined). Also Sept and Nov 2020 when I went, the elevator works going down, but not up. Location- street level on Jackson st. Recommend- worth trying.

Dry. All the right ingredients and very dry. Nothing offered as hot spice and a glass of water is not served when asked. You can buy water if you want to. Not cool!

Dropped in a couple of weeks ago for the first time and again tonight. We've only tried the bbq pork banh mi - very tasty and filling. Of course they have many other menu items. Check the menu photos attached. The shop is clean and bright. The staff is efficient and friendly as well as accommodating. We came back because my wife likes this place and that's a pretty good endorsement. I recommend it if you're looking for a good banh mi.

I'm glad I gave this place a second try. The first time we tried trying this place, we saw they were a bit backed up but had no line. However, we stood there 10 minutes and the cashier ignored us. Eventually they came over and asked what we wanted and then told us they were sold out of banh mi bread and had to make more and it would be another 30+ min. Normally, that kind of experience would just lend me to not try again but I thought delivery might be different? I'm so glad I tried because it was different. We got our food quickly and the banh Mi's were both delicious. We got the bbq pork and lemongrass pork -- if I had to pick one, it would be the lemon grass pork just because the other was a bit on the drier side. What's even better is that we got both sandwiches with extra meat & it was still under $10. It's not the best banh mi in the city BUT it's still really good and I would go back (delivery only).

Having gone here more than a dozen times and ordering from multiple other places, this is hands down THE BEST Banh Mi Dac Biet in Seattle. Pate and mayo are good and the portions are appropriate. The cold cuts are very good, and portions are generous. Bread is solid. Prices are reasonable. Here's the tricky part: at most banh mi places, you can ask for the pickles, cucumber, and cilantro to be put on the side (typically in a plastic baggie). At Lan Hue, they prepackage these portions and the majority of the time, the veggies inside are starting to go slimy / bad. It's very off-putting and annoying. This is also frustrating because my family likes to take advantage of the Buy 5 Get 1 Free deal, but six sandwiches is a lot to eat in one day. We normally keep the banh mi in the fridge for a day or two. Banh mi keeps better if you keep the moist ingredients/veggies separate. But we can't do this with Lan Hue's, because the quality of the veggies is so terrible when they give you the "on the side" veggies. BUT! If you have them make the entire sandwich on the spot with all the ingredients together, they pull from a container of pickles, cucumber, and cilantro, and it's always fresh. The cilantro is never even bruised.

Lan Hue is located in the Pacific Rim Center on Jackson Street in the International District of Seattle. They can be accessed from both the mall side and the street side. This building has free parking if that's an important factor for you. To try out this place, we ordered the standard basics - #3 Grilled Pork and #6 Pork Special. To be different, also tried #5 Tofu. Their meat varieties are definitely the go-to with good portions and veggies. I didn't like their version of tofu. It's spongy in a stiff and chewy way. I'm also not a fan of their bread, though I think that's a personal preference. Their bread is thicker and doughier. I like my banh mi bread to be lighter. That's how I think of banh mi, not like American or European bread, more Asian bread. With the amount of meats and fixings in #3 and #6, it was fine. It wasn't ok with the #5 tofu. I also like their ratio of daikon to carrots. Daikon needs to be higher quantity than carrots. Other than banh mi, Lan Hue also has pastries, steam buns, and drinks, but I didn't try any of those.

Take-out only Viet deli shop selling sandwiches and other baked / steamed items such as bao buns. I'm quite amused at how the banh mi menu is divided into sections entitled "Seattle", "Paris", "Saigon", which somewhat makes sense if you think about the sandwich fixins under each section. #6 Dac Biet: This is under the "Paris" portion of the menu. Sandwiches here are currently $6 tax incl, and if you buy 5 you also get 1 free, which is a good deal. The sandwiches here are generously sized in terms of the bread and the fixins, and taste fresh. IMO, they're better here compared to Saigon Vietnam deli down the street (go figure, at Lan Hue they're $1 more expensive than at Saigon Vietnam deli, and you do get what you pay for). I would come back here to get a large batch of sandwiches. I'm quite amused at how some Yelpers posted photos of their banh mi with a mountain / wilderness backdrop here, so I guess this is the go-to pit stop for hikers prior to embarking on their treks.

This place was not bad, the food was prepared quickly. The bread was a bit tough per other reviews. Probably not the best I've had but overall not bad. I got the bbq sandwich and my boyfriend got the grilled pork. They did wear mask and use gloves!

This has been my go to whenever I'm craving for some banh mi. I usually order #6 Dac Biet (cold cut special). Baguettes are baked on-site daily. Staff is friendly and efficient. Tips: If you order 5 sandwiches, the 6th one is free so load up! Ask for the veggies on the side, they'll put it in a separate bag for you. Parking for the first 2 hrs is free in the garage. Make sure to print a ticket and keep it on the dashboard of your car. The sandwich place is located on the 2nd floor.

Service: need room for improvement, over promise and promise not kept. I ordered 14 sandwiches in advance and they told me it would be ready for pick up at 12pm. When I arrived, they have yet to prepare ANY of my sandwiches. Luckily it doesn't take that long but they did an extremely sloppy job with my sandwiches and sauces were flying everywhere on top. My sandwiches were cold even though I've asked for them to be warmed up. 14 sandwiches in 1 plastic bag...kinda risky for a long walk so I asked for a second bag. They said, bag it yourself we are busy, after they gave me a bag. During COVID or anytime, I'd hate to give a bad review to a local shop. But the whole it's an Asian place so don't expect good customer service doesn't fly anymore. A little thank you for your orders or something less rude for someone who is being supportive of your shop would have been nice. The positive: the Dac Biet "special" cold sandwich is tasty. Strongly recommend. Tofu: not so much

Ridiculously good! I'm regretting not getting a second one to have for lunch tomorrow! Six dollar huge bahn mi barbecue pork sandwich on freshly baked baguette. High quality ingredients! That's why I go there!

I've given this place more than enough chances And I mostly like will not be coming back. I remembered when the place first opened it was some of the hottest banh mi store in town because it was nice, clean and cute. Now it is run down, dirty, smelly, and terrible meat quality. The meat looks like it has been sitting out for hours if not days! Something just doesn't taste right with this place anymore and I feel like they really need to clean things up if they plan to stay open any longer.

Dac Biet is delicious, the bread is not as crispy as I would like. However, the stuffings in the sandwich is fuller than most sandwiches across the Seattle area that I'm aware of, which I really like. The flavors are good, I'll be coming back to this place to try some of the other flavors. Staff serving the food are super duper friendly, I will be supporting them as I'm a banh mi fan!

What's not to like about $5.oo Banh mi all day?! Sandwiches were fresh and good. Signs for ordering could have used more translation. Still, for $5.00, we all have to get over ourselves. Food was fresh and delicious and the baguettes were flaky and soft. The location would have been impossible to find had I not been regularly to that Asian mall because I regularly patronized Imperial Foot Massage.

There are tons of places selling Bahn Mi in Little Saigon, but from what I can tell, this spot tops them all. A friend recommended I try this place, so I decided to get takeout on a Sunday for dinner. I got two sandwiches, a #3 (grilled pork) and a #6 (traditional). Each cost $4.50, which is a pretty good price for one sandwich. Credit card minimum is $10, so since my two sandwiches cost $9, I had to pay a $0.50 fee, which is still pretty good given how much food you can get for less than $10. The #3 of their Seattle menu was solid. The pork was tender, the veggies were perfect, and they added this soy-umami sauce as well. Definitely not a traditional Bahn Mi, but it was definitely delicious. The #6 was amazing. You get so many types of meat that are VERY traditional. The flavors were very nostalgic for me. Everything was on point, from the baguette to the meat to the veggies. I highly recommend. I'm glad that they have all the ingredients sitting on front of you so can you actually watch them make your sandwiches after you order. I'm also glad that they ask if you want all of the traditional toppings, which is great for me since I don't like jalapeno, so I was able to get my sandwiches without any. On top of the Bahn Mi, they also have some Vietnamese pastries and drinks for sale as well. I've heard good things about them, but I think the Bahn Mi is the selling point here. This spot is located right under the I-5 bridge on S. Jackson street. Street parking is an option, but there's also a parking garage on the side of the building - just proceed up the steep hill and enter through the second entrance on the left. It usually is paid parking, but not sure if that's enforced right now with COVID and all. This spot is my new go-to for Bahn Mi - it's cheap, it's delicious, it's legit. Can't ask for much more.

It's 6:49 pm and they're closed. Yelp says closes at 8pm. The door was still open as I went inside. The lady just kinda yelled with an x hand signaling and said closed. I'm not sure how this place is rated higher than Saigon deli with rude workers.

My original review for Lan Hue was taken down. One sentence had an offensive play on words referring to an iconic quote from Full Metal Jacket, therefore someone's feelings were hurt. No apologies. I'm still going to stick with my rating. This place just ain't it for me. They do this 'Buy 5, Get 1 free' deal, which is nice if you're ordering for a group. The banh mi's are indeed cheap (currently $4.50 each, but will probably increase because it's Seattle), but then again, you do pay for what you get. I just feel like I just bit into a big piece of toasted baguette, with barely any noticeable or tastable meat or condiment. It felt bare and dry in my mouth. It's commendable that they produce so much of their products in-house (including their baguette), but skimpy meat portions are too off-putting for me. Despite the popularity of this place, I can think of a number of places that offer much better quality banh mi's- all a short distance away. Between you and me, I think most of the glimmering hyped-up 5 star reviews are written by Yelpers that are either very easy to please, have low standards, or haven't been around the block quite yet. You can park in the parking garage of the Pacific Rim Shopping Center and take the elevator (which is slow AF btw) down to the retail floor. Parking is free too, which is a big plus. I hate to be so critical of this establishment, because I want to support all of the local businesses in Seattle Chinatown/International District, but I don't have it in me to endorse so-so food. I wanted to like this place, but sadly, I won't be adding this to my banh mi rotation. So to summarize my opinion, which I'm entitled to, the banh mi's here suck.

It was okay. Nothing impressive. Not much filling in the sandwich compared to some other places around. Bread was good depending on what you like. It was a bit chewy instead of a nice crust on the exterior like I'd prefer, but I went having heard amazing things so I guess it's just a matter of preference.

$5 banh mis!!! They have tons and tons of different types, and it's buy 5 get 1 free. Apparently they also make their own bread too! We called ahead for our order, and it was ready as soon as we got there. The parking situation is not ideal, so we ended up stopping on the opposite side of the road and just running in. I tried the grilled pork, chicken pate, and pork belly. Grilled pork was very tasty - meat was marinated and tender, came with all the regular toppings, very very tasty. Chicken pate was also surprisingly tasty - came with marinated shredded chicken and a yummy chicken pate. Pork belly was my least favorite of the 3 - it just seemed like it didn't have as much meat as the other two options, and the pork belly itself wasn't anything special. Great bang for your buck and super yummy. Looking forward to coming back and trying more

This is my go-to banh mi spot! I love how it's so affordable and each sandwich is stuffed! They don't skimp on the meat and I enjoy how fresh everything is. They also have an amazing BOGO deal so def take advantage of that!

Banh mi here is $5 each. I really enjoyed the grilled pork sandwich I had, except bread was a little stale. I really wish they offered to toast the bread up. Service is what you expect. Direct, no smile, but quick. They have 2hr validated parking, but that parking lot is on a reallllllly steep hill. Highly recommend you park on the street somewhere and walk here instead.

I so badly wanted to like this spot. Wife and I drove here last week but it was closed. Today we went on time and got a couple of Banh Mis and other things that we planned to eat in the car outside. First off, the place is very clean and the staff are extremely friendly and nice. Genuinely felt appreciated as a customer. Unfortunately, the food was a royal letdown. The Banh Mis were both very dry, lacked any kind of sauce or mayo or butter on the bread, no chili oil or sriracha or hoisin, nothing. Also, wayyyyy too much bread per bite making it even dryer. And the bread isn't toasted so that signature crackle and crunch was completely missing. We took a couple of bites and then brought them home, threw them in the air fryer, then opened them up and sauced and mayoed them and then ate them; quite the improvement. The grilled pork was tender but quite flavorless as was the tofu. Overall these were well stuffed with fresh veggies but everything else in the Banh Mi was a let down and not at par with so many others we've had in the city. The Patechaud tasted really good but it would have been nice if it was warmed up in an oven. The pastry was cold and had lost that crispy buttery flakiness and the filling was literally congealed into a single ball so it was impossible to get uniform bites. Simply tossing it into the oven for a minute before serving it can make such a difference with this one. The Egg Custard bun was just a mega-fail. The custard filling is quite delicious but makes up about 20% of the center of the bun while the rest is extremely over-yeasty and under cooked bun. I've had this all over ID as well as in Asia and it's once of my favorite desserts but this was one of the worst versions of it I've had; that bun was just terrible. The problem isn't any one major thing, it's a very long list of small and easily fixable issues. Negligence to them annoys me as a customer and a foodie. Hope they take the feedback and fix these issues soon. Overall a solid portion of below mediocre food at a very affordable price and super friendly owners running a clean shop. When the food fails though, none of the other things matter.

I wanted to love this place since they are one of the few places that have head cheese. It's also set up kinda like a banh mi subway, but you have set sandwiches to choose from. The other reviews raved about their fresh baked bread. Tbh I was not impressed with their bread, it wasn't anything special. Also, living in several other states, banh mi bread was always toasted? They do not toast here so the texture and the whole vibe of the sandwich was sub par. We came home and took off the veggies, put the sandwich in the toaster oven, then put all the veggies back in and it was much better. Maybe it's possible to request getting it toasted? Ok and my last thing is about the "grilled beef." It was not good at all. It was a strange loaf of some sort, as shown in my picture. I ended up just removing it. The ladies working are real nice, though.

Generous portion of meats in Paris version on sandwich. About 15 different ban mih sandwich types. Paris, Seattle and other grouping of sandwiches. Buy 5 and get one free. $5 each. Must spend $10 on credit card or .50 fee. I also bought pork patty which I haven't tried yet. They had steamed buns with pork and other pasties. Friendly helpers. Limited free street parking on east side street. Parking garage above. Unknown if they validate. Closed at 7pm on Wednesday.

Review for banh mi enthusiasts: There is a LOT of hype about the banh mi for this place - but I personally think it's way over the top. The flavor here is decent, the pate is peppery, but it lacks that buttery, decadent follow through that a truly healing helping of pate spread can deliver. It is a quality banh mi, but not near the best in the Seattle area. IMO, lemongrass beef from Thien Phat, #2 and #1 from Saigon Deli, and the BB Special and beef from Sizzle and Crunch are much better.

Some of the best banh mi I've had! I've liked near Vietnamese neighborhoods in Philadelphia, and I've been really impressed with Seattle's. Thanks to reviews, I felt like I made a good first-time order: #3 grilled pork and #6 combo of cold cuts and pate. #3: Marinated umami heaven. The meat had a tint of kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass, putting it a step above what I'd usually expect of high quality banh mi. The mayo here is extremely good, so much so that just paired with the cucumber alone brought out a creamy, eggy tea sandwich. #6: The pates and cold cuts were distinctive and went together really well. It was perfect against the tang of pickled daikon and carrot, with just the right amount of spice from the jalapenos. Even though each sandwich was simple, the quality and freshness of the ingredients was really highlighted. For about $4-5 per sandwich, this place is a steal. They had an array of other interesting items for sale too, like savory and sweet sticky rices and buns reminiscent of what I would find in Chinese stores. The bread of the sandwiches is airy and crusty and clearly prepared the morning of, without being too hard. Definitely stop by here if you're looking to try some of the best of banh mi.

Went hiking and got banh mi sandwiches to-go, which were very good! We bought 6, since it was only $18 for all of them. They do a buy 1, get 1 free deal for all of their sandwiches. My favorite one was the BBQ pork banh mi, and we also tried the pork belly and a roasted pork banh mi. Overall, everything tasted great and it still tasted good one day later. I would definitely recommend this place for a good, cheap banh mi.

Amazing. Every time. I drive from Kirkland to here sometimes for my fix. If you are ever looking to feed a crowd on a budget, go for there buy 5 get one free. Last time I went in the mentioned a 0.50 price increase with a bit of trepidation. I thanked them and tipped 50% because I'd gladly pay more for their delicious sandwiches!

Beautiful place so cute so big but also small!!limited items for sale. Located inside shopping center, have to enter through garage, very slow elevator. Banh mi smells so good and buttery, very good pate texture. Meat is good and great portion!! Their salted egg banh bao is good and sold out quick. So sad was only able to purchase two boxes of banh bao around 10am. ;-; would go again, to try more!

Always a great spot for a banh mi. Love the affordability - like 6 sandwiches for under $30?! They're also massive in size and in deliciousness in any style you order them. The staff is always friendly, considerate of spice tolerance with them asking if I want jalapeños each time - hah! The baguettes are definitely a win. The sandwiches. You just can't beat this place.

Lan Hue Sandwich & Bakery is my favorite banh mi place in Seattle. Once you've had a banh mi from here everything else around town can't compare. I'll be honest with you. I'm not a huge banh mi fan because for the longest time, I haven't tried one that blew me away. I like baguettes and I like pate, but everything else in the sandwich just seemed to fall short. But at Lan Hue, I'm glad I gave it a visit, proving why banh mis are so dearly loved. The place was super quiet on a weekday for lunch. Located off of the main International District centre and Little Saigon area, it's a shop within a business plaza, but they do have their own entrance from the street off of Jackson, which is how I found Lan Hue. The menu features a lot of different banh mis, and it's cool how they categorize the sandwiches, from classics to Vietnam favorites, French favorites, etc... You also see all of the sandwich toppings and ingredients right in front of you on the counter, where you can watch the employee make your banh mi. I asked the employee for recommendations and she suggested getting the roasted pork banh mi, which is what I did. I also ordered a banh bao, which they sell in packages to-go or individually, in addition to other baked items. There was only me and one other person getting food, so it didn't take long to get my order. The roasted pork banh mi was awesome! Pork was succulent, had crispy edges from the roasted cook, and was tender and juicy from the fat. I highly recommend getting the roasted pork! The baguette was slightly toasted, and easy to bite into with every bite, as it was soft. Pickled veggies and cilantro were fresh and ya gotta have pate! The banh bao was A-OK. Since I ordered my food for dining in, I was surprised that the employee had heated the banh bao in a plastic container with the lid sealed on in the microwave. If I had known it was to be heated like that I wouldn't have ordered it. From what it tasted like though afterwards, it wasn't bad. The portion of the meat was solid, but the salted egg yolk tasted dry. Stick to the banh mis. For a banh mi in Seattle, Lan Hue is where it's at. There's a lot to choose from and will cost you less than five bucks. I can get down with that.

A solid place for banh mihs. The grilled pork banh mih ($4.50) was a good size and had ample amount of filling. They make the sandwiches right in front of you too! Looks like all the fillings had been sitting out all day. We also saw a bunch of bakery items such as giant hum baos and salted egg yolk cupcakes which I'd love to try next time. Price point is also great!

This Banh Mi place was just ok to me. The bar is set pretty high given the selection of Banh Mi I grew up with in Orange County. I opted to try the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (pork). My first bite into and I noticed the Banh mi bread was extremely dry and didn't have the crunch/airy texture that I was use to. The base of a great Banh mi sandwich is the bread itself. Unfortunately, Lan Hue's bread didnt do it for me.

Growing up, most of the banh mi sandwiches I had came from one particular deli because that was my parent's go-to. Now that I'm older, I'm free to eat a banh mi sandwich whenever and wherever! Onto the food. I had the #6 Dac Biet but without the pork brawn and asked for extra cha lua (pork bologna) and all the veggies. Pate is a must for me in Vietnamese sandwiches and the pate here did not disappoint. And the bread. The bread was sooooo good. It was easy to bite into, crispy on the outside but not too crispy that it would stab the roof of your mouth, and soft and buttery on the inside. I was so happy with each bite. Parking in the ID is such a struggle. Luckily the deli is inside the Pacific Rim Shopping Center so you can park inside the parking garage for free! So convenient.

I gotta say, this place serves up a wicked Viet ice coffee and some savory pate! Located at the Pacific Rim plaza, getting to this place is easy. :) There's a private lot you can park for free and overall, I think Lan Hue is a solid stop for banh mi, small pastries, and coffee. Visited this place on multiple occasions and here are the things I recommend: Banh Mi options: Go for the combo or the pate option. SO DELICIOUS! Plus, it's neat to see how your sandwich gets assembled in front of you. Pastries: I really like all of them. :) Drinks: Viet iced coffee = on point. Perfectly mixed with condensed milk and the rich bitterness of the coffee beans, this is one of the best coffee I have tried so far amongst the Viet deli in the area. Other things to note: If you find yourself addicted to the banh mi here, they do have stamp cards! I thirst for Viet coffee now.

What pairs better with rainy Seattle days than a crunchy warm Banh mi sandwich and a Vietnamese coffee or bubble tea? Lan Huệ is one of the established bakery in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City brought over to the US. What set them apart is their traditional baguettes, which are made daily along with other Vietnamese baked goods (steam buns, coconut buns, sponge cake). The baguette itself is not too flaky, so it doesn't stick the the roof of your mouth. For $6, I think it's a steal!

Lan Hue is a very solid banh mi shop. Their sandwiches are a good size that will fill you up at a solid price of $4.50 per sandwich. What makes Lan Hue special to me is their bread. The bread here is perfect - just the right amount of crispiness and softness, and compliments the meat well. You never want too crunchy of a sandwich! I also enjoy the wide variety of sandwich options. They have a ton of different toppings with up to 15 different combinations you can choose from. Besides sandwiches, they also have pastries and Vietnamese drinks. The staff here are sweet ladies and I appreciate their long hours. They're open until 8pm most days, which is later than most delis in the area are open. Overall, a great place for Vietnamese sandwiches if you're ever in the area. BTW, there is .50 cent charge if you're using card and spend under $10.

New bahn mi place more near to the Little Saigon area at the Pacific Rim building. Decided to come try this spot out for lunch. FYI: You can get there by street car as it is in between 2 stops but you will have to walk a little. It's brand new, inside is real clean, bright white, a few tables inside, menu boards are pretty fancy with curved flat screen tv's as menus. Nice decor inside with a lot of bahn mi options to choose from. The line is set up like a Subway, sorta. There are 3 sets of menus: Seattle, Paris and Saigon/Vietnam to choose from and each set has about 6 different banh mis to choose from. You'll see when you get there. I decided to choose from the Seattle menu and just got the Grilled Pork Bahn Mi. It was pretty good, bahn mi is of good size, at least 9", if not more, so you'll be pleasantly surprised as you feast your eyes on it. Grilled pork was nicely grilled, has a nice glaze to it, fresh cucumber slices, cilantro, the daikon & carrot of course. They do put their Viet mayo on it with hoisin sauce to wet it up. Jalapeno is optional. Definitely tasty and I enjoyed it. Also got the pate chaud pastry, it was nicely baked, seemed fresh, crispy and flaky on the outside and meaty on the inside. It was pretty darn good! They do throw your pastry or bahn mi into their oven for like 20 seconds to warm it up which is nice. My buddy enjoyed his bahn mi too and was glad we stopped by for lunch. Prices are real affordable at $4 for each and any bahn mi you choose from the menu. Service and staff was fine, it does get kind of a cluster up front if you don't know what you want as you stare at the menu, the pastry case etc. So just make up your mind. Overall, glad I came by to check them out, will put them on my list to come by for lunch and try more of their bahn mi sandwiches.

House made everything! What's not to like about fresh, made to order sandwiches where everything is made in house? The rolls, the meats, all the way down to the mayo. I got my grilled pork sandwich and it was excellent. The bread is crispy outside and soft and airy inside. The meat seems to be much more flavorful and well marinated than other places. The size is nice and the price is right at $4. The sandwiches take a little time to make, especially if there's a line up. Minimum CC charge is $10, so I also got a coconut pastry, which was packed with a sweet coconut filling and a sausage pastry that was nice and flaky. Also had a decent Vietnamese Coffee all for a little over $10. The shop is quite large with lots of tables. The interior in bright white, clean and is very pleasing. Quite possibly the best part about this place is that the Pacific Rim Center has free parking. Despite being new, this restaurant has a lot of history. The family has been making Banh Mi for over 40 years at their shop in Vietnam. The family also owns one of my favorite restaurants in town, Hue Ky Mi Gia. Without a doubt one of the top Banh Mi spots in Seattle.
