Lively place but looks a lot smaller and sadder now compared to 7 years ago when I was here last. The drinks are still pricey though. Service is a bit pushy, they will come at you from all directions to coerce you in. Nevertheless, you could still chill with your buddies here for a few laughs if you want a party scene as a background.

A place to check in and take photo coz if u bring underage can’t enter the pub. The charge in the pub was depend on the seat area . If u sit at corridor then u need spend more . If u want just a bottle of beer or a draft then sit inside , unless u spend the amount they set. (U still can try negotiate with them coz it set by them )

Haven't been back to HK for over 10 years and it was a must to visit LKF for sure and it was great! Great vibes, lots of loud music pumping and secret little bars like "Dog Hair Bar" within the buildings which were interesting and cool.

Malaysians would understand if I say, this is HK version of Changkat. Don't really see many locals. Seemed to be taken over by foreigners tbh. A very popular street filled with bars and lounges, great for a night out with friends to go bar hopping/drinking. It can get crowded, but there's so many bars/lounges to choose from. You can choose a more mellow lounge or find one that's more loud.

There is no doubt that Lan Kwai Fong (LKF) is one of the most unique parts on HK island. A part of Central, it was an hilly area that was dedicated to street vendors before undergoing a revitalization a few decades ago. Foreigners have invested heavily in these parts in the form of various establishments, including hotels. Now it's become a nightlife driven area, filled with bars, trendy restaurants, clubs, and a ton of expats. There is a party happening here every night. The energy is infectious, there is always something to see, do, drink, and eat at LKF. One thing I appreciate about it is that it's not exclusive to young folks (#1) but there is a lot of older adults finding their venue of choice as well. An overwhelming amount of the people here are expats, some tourist and some that live in HK and unsurprisingly only know Central. There are plenty of clubs and "dive" bars but for the most part, all alcohol is expensive. A number of venues will require membership (#2), some will a dress code, and many more will require a cover fee upon entrance. The latter is especially true for packed clubs as well as lounges with live Filipino cover bands. (#3) A lot of folks will end up going to the 7-Eleven on D-Aguilar and get their beers prior to going into the spots. Due to a number of reasons, places change hands and close / open up at something else, frequently. For newcomers to this area, don't rely on LKF to provide an exemplary food experience of any kind. The random pizzas, chain restaurants, and kebab places can only go so far. There is definitely better food in different parts of Central. If there was ever a place to watch people, this is certainly it. Hiking up the hills throughout LKF are exhausting, especially in the summer and many of the places offer lackluster air conditioning as is. Just as there are major D-bags lining up the street, also beware of the shady characters looking to capitalize on tourists. If random people approach you requiring money for any of their services (whatever they may be), just walk away and keep going. ______________ (#1) The legal age of drinking in HK is 18. It's where you will meet a friend for a night or a friend for a lifetime. Stepping out of Exit D2 from the Central MTR station on a Saturday night is like being transported into another world. Crossing Queen's Road Central is the portal. Is this still Hong Kong? You see the red taxi queue, and the 7-11s, but also a face from every part of the world. Friendly strangers that contrast the indifferent ones on the morning commute. As you make your way up D'Aguilar St. and back around Wyndham St., you are tempted by hosts and flashing Happy Hour signs from every open-air bar, spilling patrons out onto street level. Turn a corner, go up or down a flight of stairs, and you would be greeted with a whole new world of bars and clubs. Down generous shots offered by the bartenders at Geronimo and Maharani Mess. Sip wine at the classy Lily & Bloom and Bitters & Sweets. Dance until dawn at Rula Bula and Tazmania Ballroom. Fueled by an endless flow of liqueur, it brings out the best and worst in people. I've been pushed by a girl that thought I walked a little too close to her in a crowded bar and harassed by a guy that was too drunk to read social cues. But I also found the greatest friends, the ones that I could see myself sharing a beer with every weekend. There's a lot of bars along this street. Drinks are affordable. Although I didn't drink but my houses didn't did. There will be a lot of people that try to hustle you to come into their bars so be careful. It happened to us every time we left each bar. Be careful with taxis also .. try not to act like tourist. They will charge a lot for taxi.

The nightlife come alive with the bar scene, restaurants, karaoke, and engaging with all cultures. Lan Kwai Fong 蘭桂坊 can become crowded but the energy is high with Happy Hour. Majority patrons are foreigners and caters to expats residing and working in HK. I am American Chinese and this is an mirror illusion of Manhattan New York's Times Square embedded into one small street. It gets the job done for the Friday and Saturday evening night out to escape from the standard Monday to Friday office trap.

We decided to look for this place while we were wandering around in the Central area. It was exactly as described. It is a famous nightlife area with a few blocks of restaurants, bars and clubs. There were a lot of after work businessmen here and many expats as well. The crowd is mainly younger people in their 20s and 30s. This is probably the best area in Hong Kong to go bar hopping if you choose to do so.

Yes, it can get full of tourists, yes it can get crazy but, it's so much fun!!! This is HK's party central. These are multiple streets of bars, clubs, restaurants, and more bars and clubs. You can hear the music outside, people walking from and to every direction and, if you go near Halloween, they get really festive. In October they decorate the streets with hanging witches feet & witches hats, there's vendors on the street selling props for you to wear in the bars/ clubs, like lighted head bows or necklaces, etc. Out-of-Towner or Local, it doesn't matter once you're inside. There's bars with live music, where the band interacts with the crowd, letting them sing, take pictures and dance. Music is always great! No way you can't keep from dancing. Drinks are strong and there's always shots! I've been there at different hours but, each time, when coming out at around 3am (have to wake up early for meetings) there's a lot more people than when we went in so, grab on to your friends and don't lose each other, that sea of people can swallow you and instead of going home you end up at another club. There's always stories to tell after a night out at Lan Kwai Fong. Whether you want to (can) share them or not, is beside the point. Point is, you always have a great, unforgettable time, and that makes you want to go back for more.

Overall, if you are still in the party-well-into-the-night age, then by all means venture over to this place. TONS of eye candy too!

Come on, how is there not a cure for hangovers yet? yes i love to party! \^o^/ Lan Kwai Fong in Central is pretty popular among foreigners.... You will find many bars/clubs & restaurants here! -You will meet a lot of people -It also has good food..all kinds of international restaurants! -Bars, night clubs, places to hangout! (-_-)(-_- )(-_-)(-_-) -It is very easy to go to. You can just take the MTR(subway) and get there. - beer festival is held there every year! -Drinking age is 18!! It's the best bar district in Hong Kong... It's packed with people from everywhere every night... especially the weekends!

Not as fun as I had imagined! There are tons of bars along this street and hosts outside trying to get you to join them inside with specials and happy hour. One of the bars we went into did not end up having "specials." Prices were the same, if not more, than they were at home in CA. We each had one drink and decided to go back to our airbnb! Lots of expats and tourists. I thought it was more fun walking up and down the street rather than going to the bars for drinks.

Expat Nightlife. Yes I am a foreigner. These expat areas are half half areas. You can speak English and get alot from a conversation. Drink, hookah, eat, chill. This place is shown in alot of movies, and still chill lively on even a Sunday night. As for transportation, it'll be with a taxi or your feet. For tourist stuff, I'd recommend coming early so you get the chance to see the Central-Mid-Levels Escalators before it closes at night. Also it is possible to do a layover and visit this place. There are buses that'll take you to the airport, no traffic at night or early morning.

Ready to party, my siblings and I headed over to Lan Kwai Fong (LKF) aka Hong Kong's party central. This area has a few blocks of bars and lots of happy hours. People were drinking cans of beers on the street while they walked around deciding which bars to hit up. Luckily for ladies, there are tons of bars that have Ladies Night... so go enjoy some free drinks during those nights. Cheers!

LKF has been on my HK bucket list forever. HK is my hometown, but I actually never been to this bar/club scene part of town. I had high expectation of this place and thought I would have tons of fun with my girlfriends from high school who also happened to be in HK on the same night I was in town. Unfortunately, this place really surprised me in a negative light. We came here on a Friday night and it definitely was poppin. Loud music and people everywhere. However, LKF really is mainly just one street with a turn, more like a "L" shaped street, filled with bars and clubs. It's really small. The atmosphere is more trashy than classy. My girlfriends and I were constantly being pushed into the clubs by the hosts in the front to get more girls and business. It was funny at first, but got annoying after some started grabbing us by the waist. We walked around while trying to not get hit by taxis since they are literally 2 inches away. The clubs are packed in the front, but empty inside. Music is just way too loud. Don't get me wrong, I go to raves and definitely am not party pooper. Music is so loud to the point where I literally can't hear myself and I had to yell for my friends to hear me and they were sitting next to me. Drinks are expensive (~$15 USD for a cider) and tons of foreign guys trying to sneak up on girls for the night. I guess if you are looking for something casual, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a night out with friends, I don't recommend coming here since you literally can't even hear or talk to each other. Meh, I expected a more classy place with fun bars and clubs, oh well, not sure what I had in mind of LKF. My parents said this place has evolved overtime with all the tourists. It used to be better.

Did I really not write about Lan Kwai Fong already? Well, I had all sorts of feelings to this place. For the forgetful crowd of Hong Kong youngsters, this was once the place took away 21 lives in the new year day over 20 years ago. To think that some of the kidults partying here today weren't even born when the accident happened, it was absurd. It always makes me subconsciously cautious whenever I was there. But there's more. It was the place a lot of us spent our time here. At the high point, you couldn't go to LKF over a weekend without running into a friend or two. Sometimes literally "running into" them too, if you were too drunk. We learnt our way through LKF. First we started at those ground floor, tourist traps. Then we found out the clubs in On Hing Building. Then we discovered the hidden gems at the edges or back alley of LKF. And finally we earned our privileges and experience to go up to Wyndham Street. The another reason I'd give this a 5 star if not 6, was for the epic, legendary, awesome stories ever happened here. And I wrote a novel just revolves around LKF, too. I kinda hope that we'll have a legit LKF movie (not 喜愛夜蒲) at some point.

Absolutely had a blast here at Lan Kwai Fong! There were so many different bars, clubs, lounges, and restaurants to choose from on this street! First, we started drinking at a lounge. Realizing that 4 drinks costed us $150.. We decided to pregame at the local 7-11 stores to save us money! Unlike the regulations in California, here in Asia we were able to carry our drinks with us while we explored LKF. Each trip to 7-11 to purchase alcohol only costed us $8! Definitely saved us tons of money so that we could spend it on eating. The clubs and lounges were pretty fun! They played modern songs that everyone was dancing to! It was a mixture of all ethnicities as well! Surprisingly, Caucasians were the majority of the group! Be sure to carry tissue paper with you at all times because most restaurants and restrooms do not provide you with napkins.. Also, buy mosquitos repellent! Came back to Cali with 8 humongous bug bites.

My favorite hangout in Hong Kong. Lan Kwai Fong is equally popular with tourists, natives and expats. From international chains like the Hard Rock Cafe to local gems like Post 97, there's something for everyone. Want a pint while watching the footy match? Feel like dancing till 4:00 am? Hungry for a snack or a gourmet meal? It's all in LKF. Plus there are frequent festivals and carnivals. And let's talk about the most chaotic scene you've ever imagined - Halloween in LKF. Whoa. Less seedy than Wan Chai, more going on than the escalator bars. Enjoy the experience, it's not to be missed!

Located in Central, LKF is notorious for its nightlife and bars. Extremely touristy and crowded. There's plenty of people who stand outside that will offer free shots and drinks, so just keep walking around until you get a good deal.

SUMMARIZE: You can go crazy and wild here and Hong Kong's party district Bars, bars bars, barhopping, clubs party on the street, very crowded and lively. This area is for party people and night owls. No it's not dangerous and no one get's killed. You can start as early as 8pm and the party doesn't end before 4am like in many European countries. Go around 11pm that should be perfect. One tip: For Halloween don't think about to go after 9pm. It's so crowded, that it takes you forever to get out of the MTR. And once you're out you spend the night standing on the streets, because you can't move forward.

Also known as the party central in Hong Kong as it probably has the most bars/clubs per square meter. This place also has some good restaurants (but expect to pay "expat prices"). This is also another place where you seem to sometimes run into people that you know sometimes (and sometimes people that you know that you have met in another part of the world - true story). The place is buzzing every day of the week (including Sunday nights). The biggest highlight of this place is the street party atmosphere past 10pm where you will see people drinking and hanging out in the streets from 7-11 purchased alcohol. Perfect for conversation and hopefully grabbing a free entry pass from one of the clubs nearby. But there's also restaurants and shisha bars in this area too in the small alleyway.

Dreams do come true. I have always wanted to check out LKF because I always heard the name dropped on tv shows and movies I watched growing up. I came through here with the Hong Kong Pub Crawl crowd (if you don't know about the crawl, look it up!) and I had such a blast. It seems like everyone had one mission while wandering around the bars and clubs of LKF: get drunk and have fun. First of all, the ambiance and people watching is definitely something to experience. Second, coming from Philly, it's pretty rare for me to hike up flights of steps in search of bars such as the Geronimo Shot Bar in the Winner Bldg or Otto Lounge in the Grand Progress Bldg. Good music, great drink specials all around and more importantly, fun people and fun adventures! Even if you don't like to drink or have fun or party or whatever, you should make LKF a spot in your HK itinerary. I promise you won't be disappointed :)!

This place was a short walk from my Airbnb so I was there several times on my visit. This place was busy each night (weeknight and weekend). It was a mix of business folks and tourist all out having a good time drinking and socializing. Folks were packed in bars and out on the street. I was traveling solo so it was a pleasant surprise to see so many policemen out patrolling this area. I felt really safe walking around by myself. Music can be heard outside so there was really no need to go inside the bar except to grab a beer. I've always seen this on tv and I got to experience it over CNY and I actually enjoyed the atmosphere.

Every morning as I walk up to my workplace in Central, I have to walk through Lan Kwai Fong. The entire street is covered with bottles, shot glasses, crazy hairdo and stuff; the floor is sticky, wet and slippery; the entire district is reek of that after-vomit scent. Just when I was wondering what happened here last night and who could have done this, then I realized - wait, I was here last night. LKF has to be one of the most famous places for locals, expats and tourists. It is a district that is filled with bars, clubs and the same convenient store you swear you just pass it by a minute ago. While your parents may warn you of this 'filthy and dangerous' place, it certainly does not stop anyone from coming here. Every Thursday is a ladies night here; LGBT event on Wednesday night in some places; as for Friday and Saturday, its TGIF and weekend. Basically, there is a big celebration every single night. For big spenders, a block away where you can find all those fancy bars and clubs (Levels, etc); for people who just want to party on the street soaking in the atmosphere, go outside the China bar which basically is a dance floor; for students, go outside the 7-11 and meet your peeps there. LKF caters for all walks of life from all over the world. And do I have to mention you have got to take a picture with legend here - Gollum!

Great place with lots of bars and a great crowd of ex-pats and visitors from around the world. You will run into an eclectic mix of foreigners, however most will be in town for business. The African barkers that seemed to be employed at every bar can be a little much and too pushy, however the staff at the bars were very fast and the Dj's were great for the most part. Stay on the main drag and you can't go wrong, just follow the loudest music to the best places! The bars all close late and the party never ends. Tip** walk a few blocks before you take a cab and you will save yourself half the price.

This part of Central should be avoided, used to be an ok place to drink but it is just loud, soulless and tacky now. LKF looks and feels very desperate with obnoxious touts trying to get you into their empty bars/clubs for an over-priced drink. (hint: any worthwhile bar, club or restaurant doesn't need to hire touts to fill seats). Just don't drink or eat in LKF - places closer to escalator and PMQ much better atmosphere.

Really fun vibrant place to walk around at night. Do research! Either ask about prices and compare or Yelp in advance. Beer and shots are usually the way to go. Try to find happy hour pricing which varies. Since I was born a female I was able to order FREE drinks from a few places. This was on a Wednesday evening.

Lan Kwai Fong is one of the first few places I visited, I been here with my mum and my friends. My mum didn't really appreciate the place but I do, I am still young at heart and something inside me still want to party, I got that wish in the mid 2000s with a group of friends, went to a bar and just hang out, it was really fun so if you ask me about this place, I won't forget it easily. One of my favourite hang out places in Hong Kong. I also remember of a nearby restaurant Peking Duck restaurant which my mum loves a lot, that's why whenever we come to Hong Kong, we often drop by this area, can't remember the name of the restaurant but if you come across a poshy looking Chinese restaurant and they sell Peking ducks, do give it a try. Check out the bars in this area, its very happening especially on Friday and weekend especially at night. Avoid this place if you hate crowd and it may get rowdy with some folks failing to control their alcohol intake, but this happens everywhere. Other than that, the atmosphere is great and drink to your heart's content! Do remember if you drive, don't drink. Best is not to drive there, just take the efficient MTR or bus there. Saves your trouble of finding a parking lot and driving home feeling slightly drunk, your life is valuable. As mentioned by other reviewers, there are lots of stories about this place, do get a local to tell you and you will be intrigued by it. So you party animals out there, I give this place a 5 star rating! Enjoy!

The place to see and be seen for nightlife in HK. The main streets are sloppy but fun in their own special way. There are many classy food and drink places off the beaten path. An easy walk from the Central MTR station and enough energy to keep you dancing til the sun comes up.

Easy 5 stars, if not a 6 if I could, especially where I'm coming from. It sure beats Yaletown or Granville many times over back home, and then some. It's several blocks of good action, lots of people ready to party in a civl manner, in my many visits in past decade, never seen any fights. The great thing about this all, in addition to the countless bars/clubs/lounges right next to each other, is the pedestrian-friendly, limited cars, so lots of walking and eye candy action everywhere. It's enough to make your head spin. Lucky I've always been there with friends who took me to the 'underground' of some of these clubs, you have no idea they ever existed lol. Hard to believe, and amazing as well, that a British ex-pat started all of this... Apparently it's simmered down since the takeover but who knows, it could just a sign of me getting older lol.

4.5 As a first timer experiencing Hong Kong at LKF... I think it was a good experience. I always wanted to come here because of all the shots I saw of this place watching my Honk Kong TV dramas (TVB). I am from America, specifically Chicago, and it is illegal to drink in the streets. The great thing about my experience in LKF is that I drank here after getting liquor, beer and wine at a regular 7/11 (which is everywhere) and wandered the streets while figuring which bar to go to. Btw, you can street drink all over HK if you like. TIP: As a female that has gone clubbing thousands of time, don't wear heels! LFK has sooooooooo many steep and slanted roads THROUGHOUT the area. Wear flats, otherwise wear sneakers. It's going to be a workout!

LKF is the party central of Hong Kong, incidentally in an area named Central which is....the Central of Hong Kong. It is ironic to note how one of the most important financial centres globally is within a stones throw to one of the world's most well known pub crawling and partying areas. I guess this tells you a lot about Hong Kong's lifestyle in that we work hard and play harder. LKF is basically used to describe the area stretching from the FCC to Lyndhurst Terrace. In this little square mile or two you will find all sorts of bars, clubs and restaurants to keep you going for as long as your stomach will hold up the drinks. I shall not be naming all the clubs around here as it will take me till the middle of next week but needless to say this place is thriving with nightlife as soon as the sun calls it a day. Office workers come here to relax after a long day in office, partygoers are always looking for new clubs to go to whilst you get the tourists who come to experience the absolute mayhem that's called Halloween- now renowned all over Asia. It may of interest to note that a lot of these bars and restaurants are owned by a Canadian gentlemen named Allan Zeman who had gradually built up his empire in the Lan Kwai Fong area and is referred to as father of LKF. You will find the best of the hangouts, the best people watching places and the best places to meet people here. Needless to say this is a place you have to visit as a tourist. If you are local here then I am wondering why you are still reading because you should know this place and be down there right now.

Hanging onto the title of party central, LKF is still synonymous with bars, booze, babes, and good times. Repulse Bay, on the far side of the island, also featuring western bars with its seaside charm, is the anti-thesis to LFK's city rock. Last I checked it's increasingly become the watering hole of choice among Aussie expats. Still, the ongoing urban renewal of LKF, despite the noise and inconvenience, could not have come sooner. That clubs and sky bars have been spawning elsewhere on HK Island is a sign that LKF should reinvent itself, if only just a facelift.

Go here. You can drink and party all night. It's so much fun. Don't try to go into those higher end clubs unless you have a table, on the list, know someone, or you are all girls. They usually try to charge you 200 HKD. For a typical person who can afford it, why not? For a backpacker, that's pretty steep just to go in and pay 200 more for 2 shots.

LKF is a very interesting experience in Hong Kong, but one that cannot be missed. This is where all the young expats party, and it has everything from trendier bars/clubs to hole-in-the-wall places. We began the night like a local and picked up beer from the 7/11. We then just stood outside and took in the ambiance. We met some very interesting people visiting from everywhere and after 2-3 very strong beers, we went to a few of the bars in the area. Overall, a very fun night and one you can't miss in HK.

Oh LKF... In the words of my friends Lan Kwai Fong is the "Little Vegas" of Hong Kong. If you ever go to Hong Kong to travel, going to LKF is an experience that you need to go through. Basically, if you're 18+, go on Fridays and Saturdays (Warming: Thursday nights can be pretty annoying because a lot of underage people try to go to LKF and hang out). At LKF you'll find a variety of night clubs and bars to go to throughout the night. Most of them are pretty nice (you can dress up, have some nice cocktails and the interior design is modern/chic) while others are casual places to just get a drink with friends (drinking, dancing and singing in the street by these areas is very common). Just some tips before you go: make sure you know where you want to go. If you go in groups, some places don't let people under 24 inside, and others won't let you wear open-toed shoes (which I find to be a ridiculous rule, especially if you're still adhering to the general dress code). Worried about staying out too late/not wanting to take the MTR back home at 4 in the morning? No problem. Go get something to eat at Tsui Wah (which is conveniently open late and is right next to LKF), and starting at around 3AM, you'll see a line of taxi cabs on the street just waiting to take LKF-goers home. TL;DR: LKF has something for everyone. It's taste of Hong Kong nightlife that you need to have if you ever get the chance to visit. Before you go, make sure you know a few places where you (and your group) will definitely go to (so then you won't run into awkward age/wardrobe problems).
