Land & Lake Ravenswood

Went for Lincoln Square/Ravenswood restaurant week and was really glad I finally tried this place. Food was good and fresh, cocktails were well balanced, service was great and it was cute. Will definitely come back for brunch on the patio in the summer. While all the food was good, I was pleasantly surprised by how great the tomato soup was. It was rich and creamy but also light and frothy. Try it if they have it the next time you're in!

I LOVED this place. Went on a Sunday night with a friend, it was somewhat busy but not full. I love the decor and ambience, and service was outstanding. Helpful, efficient, friendly, professional. I had the steak salad (great!), my friend went for the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. We tried the Green grass and the pink lady cocktails - the pink lady is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend the place!

The rooftops makes worth the visit. The beers and ciders were $8 each and their cocktails range from $11 to $15. Their dry rub wings were surprisingly tasty, well seasoned and juicy, but 5 wings from $15 is a little overpriced. The turkey club sandwich was tasty as well, but the meat seemed to have been picked from the Jewel around the block. The chicken buffalo sandwich was good but needed more spice and sauce. The fries were good and salty. Staff was kind and attentive but the place seemed to be understaffed on a Friday night. Overall, it might need another visit for a more fair review but for tonight, the rooftop did its job on a beautiful Chicago night, might not be the best place during the winter months.

Went for bottomless mimosas and they definitely delivered! Our server refilled our pitcher quick and was super attentive! The food was also very delicious. We would definitely come back again.

I came for happy hour from 4pm-6pm yesterday. This is a regular restaurant for me because I always enjoy the food. The rooftop is a pretty neat place to grab a bite and a drink. Ajdin was the manager I met yesterday and I saw him checking up on everyone, helping out bring orders to tables, helping at the bar. The food is a reason to come, the service is a reason to come. It was great watching a manager who truly cares about all the fine points of this place!

Fries were excellent, infact perfect. Wings were pretty great as well. Unfortunately the burger used he cheapest frozen beef patties you could find. The bun was nice and the toppings were very decent. Suprised at the lack of effort considering everything else seemed to be either homemade or fresh. I'll definitely give them another shot.

During the summer, I tried Land and Lake Ravenswood rooftop patio. I quickly became a regular. The food is very good. The service is phenomenal!! Kevin, Andy, and Ajdin offer friendly service. It feels like Cheers, where everyone knows my name. If you haven't had a chance, stop by Land and Lake Ravenswood!!!!

If you're in the mood for burgers & fries / mac & cheese, this is the spot... but if you're looking for low carb options, not so much. I ordered the Steak Salad, thinking that the "Roasted Potatoes" in the menu description would be a topping, like replacement croutons, but instead, the potatoes replaced the GREENS. The server did bring out a nice greens-and-tomatoes side salad when I expressed my utter bafflement, and that was fabulous with the dilly ranch dressing and perfectly-cooked steak. The house-pickled vegetables had a nice zip.

Land & Lake is a nice modern American restaurant. They have a huge beautiful patio on the second floor, which is now open for the season. We went on a Saturday night and were able to get patio seating, although online it said that patio seating is first come first serve. It was very busy, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you go on a weekend. The food was good! They had one vegan option, a portobello mushroom burger, as well as a few vegetarian options such as a (fancy) grilled cheese, salads, and pasta dishes. I ordered the grill cheese and it was very cheesy indeed. We ordered the buffalo caulifower as an appetizer, which was great. The appetizer came out after we had already starting eating our meals so they comped it for us which was nice of them. They had a fun list of cocktails, as well as beer and wine. I had the Andersonville cocktail and it was good. The patio seating was very busy, and the restaurant didn't seem staffed enough to handle the rush. I felt bad for the servers who were working, as they had so many tables and were running around doing their best. It took a long time to get the check, and the table next to us actually left because they had been waiting for so long to be served. It was still a great local patio that I would come back to. Their happy hour menu looked good. The food was good, drinks good, server great. The restaurant just needs to figure out how to run a bit more smoothly.

Such a cute spot in Ravenswood! It was a first visit for me, as I was recently in town for a baby shower being hosted here. Upon arrival, we were directed upstairs by the hostess. I couldn't help but notice how cute and quaint the lower level was. Given the atmosphere alone, it looked like a place I'd definitely return to. The rooftop is definitely beloved by the locals however, as that's where most of the customers could be found on this summer day. There's a large u-shaped bar in the middle with plenty of seating wrapping around both sides. More than half of the rooftop is shaded with ceilings fans (both things that were much needed on this hot morning). Our group took up the left half of the space and was so well accommodated for. The staff was really friendly and always around to make sure we had a drink in hand prior to our sit-down meal. The food was really tasty and served to us family-style. I was a huge fan of the breakfast mac n cheese: sunny side up eggs sat atop smoked cheddar mornay-smothered noodles and bacon bits. I'm not a big benedict gal, but the avocado benedict went down a treat for the rest of the table. Heck yes to the French toast fulfilling our sweet tooth though... salted caramel, banana, and whipped cream. We were also treated to fresh granola, fruit and yogurt, along with their housemade biscuits. Nothing but good things to say about the eats. I'd love to return sometime for a typical dining experience (and to try their cocktails when I'm not pregnant), but this event-style morning was certainly enjoyable.

Visited last night for a bite to eat after a 45 mile bike ride earlier in the day, famished I was. Guided up to the wonderful patio deck, QR code scanned, drinks and food ordered. We grabbed two burgers, delicious, and an order of their pickled veggies. We will certainly be back, especially for the $15 Burger special. Great addition to the neighbourhood.

Good place to grab a bite or a few drinks. Came here for breakfast. They have a good mimosa special so make sure you get there early to enjoy. Food was not much to brag about. The burger and French toast were delicious, but everything else was just ok. The servers were attentive and quick. The patio upstairs is the best spot if you can get a seat.

Land & Lake is a nice restaurant to hit up on the Northside. It is at the former location of now closed Fountainhead so already in a great known location. It gives the ambiance of the middle of upscale restaurant meets neighborhood eatery/bar. It's easy to have conversation as it's not super noisy. The service is superb and staff is so friendly and accommodating including bringing out a cake for my wife's bday! The food is mostly quality american food that is clean and quality ingredients: the only disappointment was that with the word Lake in it's name it only had one item that would have come from the lake, the fried fish sandwich. It was still quite tasty! Great for groups!

Land @ Lake has come ashore in Ravenswood. They took over a great large space and made it better. The rooftop bar is massive, and there is plenty of seating up there too. They just opened, so things are coming together daily. The Mule was delicious, and the steak salad was awesome. The usual staples of burgers, wraps, etc. They also do have some pasta dishes too. The hours are not officially posted yet.

Shout out to Jake who was our rockstar server! I like this spot. The rooftop is lovely and the apps we had were tasty. I'd recommend the cauliflower and the fries to accompany drinks. The garlic aioli and ranch were both good. I had the fidelity red blend and enjoyed it. The team enjoyed the 19th Hole cocktail as doubles and the draft beers.

Land and Lake Ravenswood is new and has lots of potential! We went on their third week of opening and had a decent experience. Their rooftop patio is gorgeous. The food is decent, but the portions are pretty small. The menu is also quite small but I believe that's their thing so no points off for that. The service could use some work. We had to wait around 15 minutes to order after being seated and had a hard time finding our waitress throughout the meal. I think once they figure out some kinks it'll be great :)

The Doctor and Queen decided to check out this location simply for the rooftop and it did not disappoint. Beautifully decorated space and plenty of shade to keep the sun off of you. The food is the same as the Andersonville location, but I have to say that the ability to sit in this outdoor environment made the meal that more enjoyable. The server was very friendly and attentive, and service was on point. The menu is limited in terms of selections, but the execution is done well. I am not that fussy about extensive menus as long as they have what I like and it is done well, like those meatballs, which pair well with the Bolognese pasta (beef bolognese, tagliatelle pasta, shaved parmesan). The also serve a lovely sparkling wine from Illinois Sparkling Co., which was lovely. Didn't do dessert as I did not have room for it. I will definitely be back here when the weather gets better as I need to eat on that rooftop

Came here for brunch. It's a cute little spot, close to the brown line. Our server was super attentive and helpful. She was also patient when we took forever to decide what to eat (we were too busy catching up!). One of my friends wanted a mocktail, and our server brought her something delicious. I had the breakfast mac and cheese, which was every bit as delicious as I expected! Super creamy, and the bacon was a nice add. The egg was almost a little too much, but I loved it. My friends all loved their meals as well. Pricing was reasonable as well, given the area. While I'm not sure I would seek this place out on my own (only because it's not near my neighborhood), but I would definitely go back to meet friends!

Excellent food, excellent service, beautiful rooftop. Will definitely visit again and encourage others to do so as well! Hits all the marks!

Grabbed lunch today with friends. Good location and great atmosphere. Food was good and priced well for the location. Had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was good. Only downside was the menu hasn't been updated so draft beers listed aren't available so had to order waiter's recommendations since nothing on tap was listed

Great place for cocktails. The rooftop is a must! It's not an amazing view, but it's definitely a great place to hang out and have a few drinks. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive.

Came here hoping for a nice weeknight meal. On our walk over we walked pasta Culver's and throughout the meal the running joke became - may has well gone to Culver's because honestly, Culver's may have been a better option. For the price point, I was expecting much higher quality food. The burger was two thin patties, just a step up from a McDonald's patty, thousand island dressing, and American cheese. No onion, no tomatoes, no lettuce. The fried fish sandwich was basically inedible, I only ate half. Pretty sure the frozen fish sticks at the grocery store taste better. Our fries were also not great. They were warm at best. The servers and staff were friendly and we appreciated the local beer selection (skeptical that the glasses were a full pint). If someone invites me out, I'd possibly come back and try something different on the menu. But it's not a place I'd choose to return on my own.

Enjoyed our meal on the rooftop! Ambiance is great and staff was very accommodating. Our group included children and they took such wonderful care of them! The hamburger and fries were delicious. Looking forward to coming back!

Came back for brunch - just as solid. I had the Pesto Egg Scramble (without mushrooms) and a Biscuit, and my friend had a Breakfast Croissant Sandwich. We were happy to be seated on their rooftop without a wait, and our server was friendly and attentive despite a rush of people during a surprise good weather weekend.

So we were able to check out Land & Lake on the second day of opening. I was so happy to get back upstairs to this beautiful rooftop patio! I will say that my evening here was more in line with a 3.5 star experience, but I am giving 4 because I have higher hopes for this place, especially once (if?) happy hour gets going. I will say that my server was very friendly and attentive, even though service was a bit on the slower side. I expected this anyway since it was the first few days of opening, so it didn't really bother me. I used any extra time to stare out over Damen and people watch :). I started off with the 13th Hole cocktail. I will say I was a bit disappointed in this drink. For the price, this drink was nothing special. Tasted pretty watered down in my opinion and just didn't have much flavor. There are too many great bars in the area to be slacking in this department, so I hope this gets better. I also ordered the pork chop and garlic parmesan fries. I thought this was pretty tasty. The portion was decent and I liked the apple shavings that dressed the chop. The prices here are definitely not cheap, though, and I don't know I think I was just expecting a bit more. I'm not giving up hope on this location just yet. I will return once everyone gets into a groove and hopefully once happy hour starts (The Andersonville location already has this established). Looking forward to better times.

The cheese burger was good. The buffalo chicken sandwich was just OK. It didn't taste anything like a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was chicken breast with Buffalo hot sauce on it. I feel the menu is over priced for simple regular food. Also, a chocolate martini was ordered and if you look at the image, that is how they brought it, which was terrible, they should have just said "no we cannot make that " instead of trying, but the waitress was really nice she knew right away that it was bad and she took care of it, so no big deal. Our waitress was really awesome! I probably wont be back, unless it's maybe to check out the awesome outside patio and depending on the drink options. It's a prime spot and location.

We love coming to Land & Lake! The food is fantastic, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is relaxed and classy. The roof deck is a neighborhood gem! Our server, Nikita, is absolutely top notch and hilarious. Request him, if possible. You'll have a blast.

Management was nowhere to be found. Service was shit and food inedible. If you're a fan of cold food and a bartender who serves martinis in a Dixie-riddle-cup tumbler... congrats, you've arrived! CLOSE IT DOWN. START OVER

I was really excited to come here for my friend's birthday, especially as it is a new neighborhood spot for us. But sadly, our experience was so disappointing. First, we were sat near the corner where a (holiday?) party was taking place. Our lovely birthday dinner was disrupted the entire night from the party goers screaming. There were plenty of tables available so I have no clue why we had to be sat right next to this giant and loud group. Secondly and most importantly, our food was so so so bland. We ordered a few apps and 3 entrees. The only dish we actually enjoyed were the wings, they were warm, tasty, and had a nice dry rub to it. The meatballs and cauliflower were meh, nothing to write home about. I ordered the Portobello Mushroom Burger and it was good.. for a mushroom and bread so I wasn't really expecting it to be OUTSTANDING for a mushroom. The birthday gal ordered the Steak Frites, medium rare, and it was the most bland, unseasoned, overcooked steak we've every had. I couldn't believe a chef does not understand the importance of seasoning... like there was LITERALLY nothing on the steak. Lastly, my other friend ordered the Fried Fish Sandwich and it was ice cold and also bland. For a place called Land & Lake we really expected the fish to be somewhat decent. On a positive note our cocktails tasted delicious, highly recommend the Papa Don't Peach. I understand that they are a newer restaurant; but, for having other locations I expected better.

For the amount that we paid, was really expecting something more. With a name like Land & Lake, was thinking there would be more fish options than a fish sandwich and adding shrimp to pasta. Steak salad was ok. It was drowned in dressing that overpowered the elements of the salad. My husband had the Fish sandwich, same issue with too much dressing. It overpowered the sandwich to where that was all you tasted. Plus with the prices of the sandwiches, American cheese shouldn't even be an option, especially NOT on a fish sandwich. Son had the Steak & Frites which he liked, but it would have been better not to slice the steak as all the juice pooled out making the meat dry when it got to the table. The building looks really cool from the outside and the patio is nice, I was really hoping this would be amazing, but alas, don't think we will be going back.

I stopped in at Land & Lake on Montrose and Damen today for a bite and a drink. Kevin was a great bartender, and we had a very enjoyable conversation! He made a really Kevin always seems to be working when I stop in and is always attentive and professional to everyone. I also love how hearty and well made the food is here. Come for the food, stay for the great employees and atmosphere!

The food was tasty, but the menu was pretty boring and light on seafood options. I thought the 'Lake' in the name meant more seafood. We also didn't get our drinks in a timely way, but thanks for comping one drink because of that. We also felt rushed out when the music stopped and the lights went on about 9:45pm on a Friday. Strange that it closes so early too.

I Came back and had the Garlic Parmesan Fries, Caesar Salad and Carrot Cake. The fries were great and the salad had too much dressing and the lettuce wasn't hard enough. Ahh! The Carrot Cake was something to die for.

This is the worse restaurant in the neighborhood. It's generally unorganized, service and seating on the rooftop is a mess, and the food leaves much to be desired. I've given this place too many chances. It's nice to have a roof top nearby, and to see something on that corner, but they need to do better.

Amazing roof deck but food just so-so for the price point. Go to Wolcott Tap instead.

Great rooftop! Excellent cocktails and friendly bartenders as well. The food is just okay. Not many appetizers to choose from, and ours came out luke warm. I hope they can add more choices to the menu. Nice chill ambiance upstairs.

I am a senior, and the Land and Lake - Ravenswood restaurant does not seem to care about seniors. I hope this is not the case with their other restaurants. I was excited to try the local Irving neighborhood restaurant and was disappointed for 2 reasons. 1) As a senior, you can only use your phone to access the menu, however, I find the small print challenging. What about people without phones? Land and Lake does not care! Normally when I go to a restaurant, they at a minimum have some "real menu's" to get a big picture feel of all the dishes, and have some of these print menu's which are easier to read. The waitress said they had no real menus. Land and Lake does not care about us older adults, those who have no phone, nor others who prefer a real menu. 2) Normally I do not eat a lot of meat. However, I was looking for a juicy burger. When I received my burger it contained two thinner "McDonal "style hamburgers which were well cooked and dry. The sauce they put on was average. The hamburger was a real disappointment! On the positive side, the pickles on the hamburger appeared home made and were liked. The Caesar salad was also good. The chocolate cake was great. In view of the many options available in the neighborhood, next time I will go elsewhere.

Went here for brunch on Saturday. Ambiance was good on the rooftop patio. It was the waiter's first day working and he was solid and checked on my table sufficiently. These are the reasons for the two stars. The food is where this visit was highly disappointing. The vegetarian scramble was essentially just scrambled eggs doused in marinara sauce. The most egregious mistake was the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached to the point of being hard boiled where the yolk was completely cooked through. I don't think I've ever encountered this before in an eggs Benedict and it did seem like the eggs were batch cooked earlier and kept warm for service. With the prices they charge, they really need a significant improvement in food quality.

Great atmosphere, service & best of all the food! My gf and I both had the Shrimp & Grain Salad. I can't describe enough how delicious this salad was! Husband had the Bolenese dish and we all cleaned our plates. Dessert was Carrot cake. Love the lemon zest in the icing. Perfection!

There are so many great restaurants in the Ravenswood neighborhood, but Land and Lake have had mine and my fiancé's hearts since opening. The staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and so accommodating. We have always had such friendly people taking care of us, making the experience even more enjoyable. On top of that, everything we've tried off the menu has been excellent, and everyone we've taken here has told us how they can't wait to come back!

Service was very friendly. Rooftop is nice. Food is just meh . Like they are not even trying. Ordered pork chop. Arrived cold. Flavorless. Fries also cold. My husband's pasta also flavorless. To be fair.... We were hungry so we didn't say anything until later as feedback. I'm sure they would have fixed it had we asked. They did discount our meal a bit which was nice. It's really a bummer as it is a great location and has such potential. They just closed their Andersonville location so hoping they add more focus on making improvements to the menu and execution here so they can survive past summer rooftop days. The inside was empty.

At first the menu didn't seem super interesting but everything was done very well. They make some of the best chicken wings I've ever had and the carrot cake was delicious from filling to frosting! I would add a bubble cocktail!

I made a Yelp account to write this review. Honestly the most disappointing meal I've had in a very long time. Went here with my partner and we got the Mac and cheese, and meatballs for appetizers, and split the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp for the main course. The mac and cheese was inedible, the meatballs were fine, and the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo was embarrassing. Worst of all, the food was soulless and uninspired, which came across stronger than any of the flavors. You couldn't pay me to finish the meal. Service was fine, it's not their fault they have nothing to work with. Great rooftop seating!

Land & Lake, as much as I wanted to really like it, was mediocre. The staff was great-very attentive, seated us immediately, answered questions, overall just very nice and accommodating. The space is cute w/comfortable booths, good music, a few TVs...but the food just wasn't there. And I get that they just opened recently, so I understand they're probably having some growing pains and I totally cut them slack for that, but they're going to have to hurry up and get things right. Wings: Delicious, but our sauce blue cheese dressing was brought several minutes after the wings came and when it did come, it was the teeny tiniest little container ever. And it was bland. Pickled Veggies: Bland. Weird to call anything pickled bland, but they were. Fish Sandwich: Bland. Pork Chop: Bland. Dry. Chocolate Cake: Sara Lee 30 minutes out of the freezer. Swear to God, that's EXACTLY what it tasted like! We will be back because we want to see if we were just there on a bad night (crossing fingers)...hoping next time to be blow away.

Went here on a Saturday night. We live in the area and we were really looking forward to eating here. Servers couldn't have been nicer and attentive...that's the good. The bad? The food was very much sub-par. The fish sandwich was bland and the curry sauce was equally bland. The porkchop was dry as a bone. Plentiful, but borderline inedible. I never send food back but I was tempted to in this instance. Alas, I did not. The chicken wings were excellent and the best part of the meal. All this said, we will return to give it one more chance. Maybe we hit the kitchen on a bad night. Till we meet again, L&L.

Food is great. Fresh ingredients with generous portions. The American burger is my favorite. Service is fabulous waking with periodic check ins from the server, Nikita, and the manager, Ajdin. The ambience is light, friendly woth plenty of seating. Check out the roof top. Nice!

Drinks were drinks, nothing special. Beer options were great. But the food...the food.....the foodddd. We can't undercook cauliflower and the fries had so much potential but were mushy - didn't bother ordering an entree. I feel bad for the staff, they tried to so hard - but we had three servers in one night. Felt like the disorganization is driven from top-down. The owner placed a bottle of water on our table and walked away - no introduction, didn't let us know a server was coming, and ghosted us. It was an episode of Bar Rescue. Rooftop is gorgeous and all but the menu makes no sense. Can't tell if it's American or Italian, but neither jive with the name "Land & Lake".

What a great addition to the neighborhood! When my partner and I dined there last night, it seems like a very queer-friendly space, which made me feel at home. Great food and amazing wait staff! Will definitely come back.

We stopped in for the first day of brunch and were seated right away on a Saturday morning - amazing! The ambiance is great; really elevated from Fountainhead's original decor. The salmon benedict was just ok. We ordered a side of bacon and for two tiny pieces it was $5. My husband got the breakfast chili which was also just ok. The service was excellent and we look forward to giving the rest of their menu a try.

Wow, what a great find! We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and were attracted by the rooftop seating area at Land & Lake. Stopped by for drinks and dinner on a Friday afternoon and it did not disappoint! Great selection and variety of local draft beers. We started at the bar for drinks while waiting for a table. Our bartender was super nice and very attentive, and boy did he mix a mean Old Fashioned. After moving to a table, our waitperson was very much the same. He took great care of us and provided many good insights on the menu offerings. The food was excellent all around; the three bean chili, shrimp and grain salad, and fried fish sandwich were all delicious! And the carrot cake for dessert was even better! I would go back to Land & Lake in a heartbeat and would recommend this to anyone looking for excellent food and drink in a very welcoming and pleasant space.

Very excited to have a refreshed rooftop restaurant in the neighborhood! I've been twice already. Service is excellent, as is the atmosphere. However, I think the food menu is just... Normal. It's good, but not great; I thought if this was a third location of something then they must've been really special but...eh. I know inflation is wreaking havoc but in my mind the prices aren't worth the options. I think I'll be returning more for afternoon drinks or happy hour instead of the food.

I hate to say it but not great. The Bloody Mary was just watered down tomato juice and vodka with a sad lemon slice. When I asked for a pickle they gave me two cucumber slices. The food was luke warm and bland. Plus a 3% processing fee! Wtf? I had high hopes for this place and was disappointed.

Shut it down and start fresh. This place basically does everything wrong. $16 for a too-small, mediocre burger with too much thousand island, kids menu items with toppings most kids will request removed, literally nothing interesting on the menu. I could go on but I think you get the point.

The breakfast is actually really good. Burger special is worth it and the best part of the restaurant is the rooftop deck. A bit overpriced for what you get, but a solid choice.

Good idea - lots of changes needed if they want to get return diners and thrive. A limited beer list needs variety and umph. The one I ordered was out. I had the pasta bolognese- needed literally 3x the sauce to be respectable. Friend had the burger - good, but unimaginative presentation. Best part of the meal was the fries. No bacon in the kitchen. No eggs in the kitchen (friend asked for both on the burger - a hard no from the server). Tall chairs were very uncomfortable. Place looked really cool - but the rest of the experience was both disappointing and mediocre. There were only a few people in the place on a Sunday evening, and it was pretty expensive.

Awesome new spot in our new neighborhood!! Food was great, cocktails were delicious, and the service was amazing. Will be going back often :)

Stopped by the patio for dinner. Good selection of food in the menu. Service was good and my food came out fast. My only issue was the price for wine. A small pour of the house cab was $15.50. Totally off the page price wise. I probably won't go back and won't recommend this place either.

Seating for 6:45 reservations was 30 minutes late. Portions were small. Steak was tough. Wine was pricey.
