Yelp
I really liked it at Land Grant; the beers were good, the seating was comfortable, and it was easy to enjoy some drinks with others. This place works great for large groups of people - as well as tinier groups. I was pretty upset by the way they did their restroom cleanings, but I'd be back (and hope it doesn't happen again).
NOTES:
-Very, very large outdoor area. Tables are picnic-style with freestanding benches that can easily move to accommodate various bodies.
-Few tables (both indoor and out) are dining-table style for 2-4 people. None have arms.
-A wall of the indoor dining area has hightop tables with 6-8 seats. (I don't remember the exact.)
-The outdoor menus are on a QR code you scan on your phone that's stickied to each table. The indoor menus are the same - except almost everyone in the indoor space can read the giant board of beers near the bar.
PROS:
-Ridiculously huge outdoor area. Ridiculously huge. There's seating for hundreds outside - easily and comfortably. There's a separate outdoor bar service as well. Today, the outdoor area was oppressively hot (there are no fans - but the majority of the outdoor area is shaded with umbrellas), but on a nicer day, I could see this being a fantastic place to hang out for larger groups.
-The "community" seating here means that it works pretty well for most bodies. The picnic table set-up they have going on both indoors and outdoors has movable benches, so you can give people as much (or as little) room as they need.
-Beer is pretty darn good. For some reason, June was really loaded-up on IPA and citrus options, so if that isn't your jam, the selection's a bit smaller. The beer was still pretty darn delicious, and their "House Beer" works great if you're just a usual mainstream-beer drinker. Beer has a good range of ABV, so you can stay on the 4% side of things, or head up to the 10% side of things.
-Good stage for events. There wasn't one going on at the time, but it's neat that it exists - and is used for live events pretty often.
-There are multiple places to place your drink orders. Since this place has such a huge customer capacity, this really helps keep the line down. Since one of the bar is even outdoors with the outdoor seating, you don't have to really go inside the building unless you want the indoor restroom.
CONS:
-While the adjustable picnic tables are really, really great for a variety of bodies, it also isn't attached to the ground. This also means that I watched two people sit on the edge-most seat of the benches at empty tables - and since the opposing half wasn't weighted down, the bench flipped and the person spilled onto the ground. Staff seemed pretty accustomed to dealing with it, and everybody laughed it off and went on their way, but just a warning: if sitting at an empty table, sit in the middle.
-My biggest complaint about Land Grant was their bathroom cleaning procedure. In the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday, the entire wing of the brewery (with the restaurants) was closed off. I had needed to pee before the entire wing was randomly (and suddenly?) closed off, so 20-30 minutes later, I was really peeved when it had not opened back up. An establishment that's focused on intaking liquids *really* needs bathroom access. I understand bathrooms need to be cleaned, but almost all establishments clean them room-by-room to reduce downtime. The table of people next to me were discussing what places were nearby to drink because they all needed to pee - and the restrooms didn't have an ETA of opening back up. In Land Grant's fairness, they provide two porta-potties outside that they were directing people to, but I didn't come to an indoor brewery to use porta-potties (honestly). We ended up leaving because of this along with multiple tables near us.
