Yelp
I love that this park exists. It's big, expansive, and is a hub for various activities. Fairytale Town is always full of kids and their grandparents. The Golf areas seem to be enjoyed regularly by lots of people. In the summer, there's Shakespeare in the Park on the stage. You'll see lots of joggers. Unlike at smaller parks, there are many routes possible rather than a single track around and around. People walk the green lawns enjoying the beautiful trees, flowers, and duck ponds. There's actually enough shade in the summertime when the temperatures run into the triple digits. I love it because it is a great place to meet up with friends to go walking out and around the grounds.

Sharon P.

Yelp
I love walking around the outskirts of the park but today I messed up my shoes walking across the grass. I wished there were more paved areas for walking or sidewalks even. All in all it's a great park to visit. Plenty table for picnics. The ultimate family outing with the zoo and fairytale land. The golf course and places to eat nearby makes it complete.

Yelp
The park has always been my go-to place to unwind my mind. I used to live in Rancho Cordova so Hagin Park was my spot to relax because of the hideaway rock fountain. Living so far now, William Land Park is it. I spend time near the lake by the golf course and watch the animals and people watch. There's not a secluded place like Hagin where I can TEALLY relax but I truly love this place. My wife and I spend time here and create memories.

Yelp
Visited William Land Park for my first 5k race, Run for a Safe Haven, and it was a beautiful place to run on a Saturday morning! The park is located in a residential area with plenty of street parking available on the perimeters or in the nearby neighborhood. Besides the paved trail, there's also a golf course and pond with lots of ducks. It's quite scenic, and I loved all the greenery from the grass to the trees. There was also a decent amount of shade, which was much appreciated. As I continue to train, I can see myself coming back for more outdoor runs in a quiet place with beautiful views.

Yelp
Can't wait to see this place closer to late fall. When we went in mid September, the trees were a yellow-green color. Took our Aussie for a walk here, great amount of shade. This park is dog friendly so long as the dog is on a leash, saw many dogs along our walk.

Geneva L.

Yelp
My favorite park in Sacramento. We can only thank the city fathers who envisioned this enormous park covering many acres (it once even had horse stables and riding) before our city was turned into a never ending construction zone filled with ticky tacky boxes and strip malls. Ahem. Rant over. A perfect place to walk, run, sit on a park bench, watch a baseball or soccer match and always- to be in nature. Very popular place to bring your dogs. The heritage trees which are a dream for tree huggers like myself, and ample grounds mean there is a chance to have peace and quiet, while still in proximity to others even in the heart of the city. The golf course, zoo, fairytale land, rock garden etc. are also on the grounds. Right now there is a big project to restore the massive duck ponds, but I'm sure they will be back better than ever with our beloved waterfowl.

David H.

Yelp
Large picnic and bbq areas, but no parking! Prepare to walk long distances. It contains the zoo, Fairytale Town, and Funderland.

C L.

Yelp
It's sad to see this park go downhill over the years. Trash and broken beer bottle glass everywhere, so be care if you have young kids and dogs, or are wearing open sandals. I reserved a specific area and they taped the reservation in the wrong place. It was also short a picnic table, which were were counting on, and no trash cans were provided until we asked. Bathrooms were also locked. Sigh.

Yelp
New York has Central Park... San Francisco has Golden Gate Park... Well Sacramento being the capital city of California is fortunate to have "William Land Park" (a.k.a. Land Park). Owned and operated exclusively by the City of Sacramento, this 200+ acre park has served locals and tourists dating back to the late 1800's. It is situated in between I-5 and State Route 160 while major streets such as Land Park Dr., Sutterville Rd., Freeport Blvd., and 13th Ave. surround it. What makes this park a win-win is that in the several dozen times I have been here, it has never been crowded. You have more than enough ample space to relax by the man made lakes (where you can see ducks, swans, geese), go for a stroll or bike ride, enjoy a picnic (which include benches and BBQ pits), play frisbee, and enjoy the luscious landscaping that includes thousands of fresh flowers, shrubs, and willow trees. There is also a nice children's playground that includes monkey bars, swings, and slides. Parking is surprisingly easy to find on any given day and with the amount of trees here, this can provide a lot of shade on the hotter summer days. In addition to the leisure activities here, this park also includes a very generous golf course as well as three (3) soccer/rugby fields nearby. The park also offers basketball courts, a jogging path, six (6) softball fields, a wading pool, and a rock garden. One really big plus about this park is that it is within walking distance to the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, and Funderland (which offer carnival-type rides for young children). And best of all, public restrooms are located throughout the park as well as plenty of areas to dispose of your trash. For anyone that wishes to test their photography skills, this is definitely the park to do so. The lake also provides a beautiful scenic view that is great for engagement photos and other special occasions. I also feel that Sacramento has done a fair share of upkeep on this park to make it look welcoming for people that wish to visit on a regular basis. With that said and done, I am giving "William Land Park" a perfect five star rating.

Aneida R.

Yelp
This park is amazing! There is so much to do and so much space to do it in! We are here for first tee golf lessons and the set up is amazing for the kids. There is an actual golf course too! There are ponds, plenty of seating area, walking trails etc etc. The park always has some type of activity going on but the layout never makes it feel packed. Free parking and clean bathrooms available too

Kristen H.

Yelp
Land Park is one of Sacramento's main parks with a lot of stuff in it. Funderland, the zoo, the duck pond, golf courses, a baseball field, an amphitheater, and just regular old grass. It's in a nice neighborhood and occupies a lot of space. Nearby is Sprouts and La Bou if you wanna plan a picnic. It's a nice place to relax with plenty of picnic tables and street parking. If I'm looking to get out into nature and kick back, or find a quiet nice place to walk my dog, this place is at the top of my list.

Darren L.

Yelp
I got some more photos from year. I just saw an olive tree and purple flowers are blooming are the park. We saw more geese in the pond and we already saw lots of ducks and trees last year.

Kelly M.

Yelp
In our quest to keep our dogs amused on our visit to Sacramento, we took a pleasant walk in this park. We went past the areas where Lacey & Zoey would not be welcomed (the zoo, FairyTale Land, etc) and enjoyed the sights in the small, but gorgeous rock garden!

Christine C.

Yelp
Wow! So much to see and do here! There was a lot going on at the park on a Saturday. We checked out the zoo and walked around by Fairy Tale Land. When we have our children with us, we will definitely bring them back! The zoo was great!

Melissa S.

Yelp
Perfect place for a picnic. Several of my coworkers and I have met up in the park. It's best to bring your own chairs, if you don't there are old picnic benches around the park. Our favorite place is next to the golf course in one of the local gardens. There is a stone trellis you can sit on. There is plenty of parking around the park. If you don't want to parallel park there is a lot. The park offers many things: Golf Course, Sacramento Zoo, Fairy tale town, a amusement park for little kids, fishing pond, and pony rides.

Greg S.

Yelp
What can I say about Land Park that hasn't already been raved about... It's big, it's beautiful in so many ways. And it has something for everyone. Lots and lots of green space to picnic, get in a good walk, people watch, play with the kids, feed the ducks and get chased by the geese. Land Park has tremendous history and it has it all... go... enjoy

Rachelle P.

Yelp
Last Saturday my boyfriend, my daughter and I decided to visit this well known local park! They had a nice tire swing she met friends on, swing set, large sandbox she didn't want to get out of with a big playground and a restroom! Their looked like their was a water area as well, but it was closed to the public unfortunately. We will be back to explore more of what they have to offer, especially events!

Wanda G.

Yelp
A Sacramento Classic....William Land Park! The Zoo, the gardens, the golf course, the pond, the kiddie area! It's the perfect place to spend the day with your family. Lots of places for a shady picnic under the mature trees. Something for everyone, and so peaceful. The Zoo has been undergoing renovations and it's really nice. A great place for hanging out.

Bobbie R.

Yelp
Must see for visitors and locals. Easy access from Hwy 5, 99 or downtown. Lots of free parking around park. Gets busy on weekends (ofcourse). Lots of picnic areas, ponds, ducks, turtles. A great for walking or running. I visit the zoo here often and then walk the perimeter of the park and stop to see what's going on at the Duck Pond. If you have toddlers Fairy Tale Town is fun. There is also a 9 hole golf course. Hubby calls it "the feel good" course cause apparently it's not too difficult, which is a "good thing". Get outside and enjoy the park.

Kandy F.

Yelp
William Land Park is a very large and beautiful park. It's about a couple hundred acres of developed areas. It offers many different picnics tables and bbq pits for your family fun. You'll have to go online and fill out the application for the rental. It's a beautiful drive if you don't want to get out of your car. I like coming earlier in the morning to find my off street parking. It's a beautiful walk!! I've seen people out with their blankets and a book. Some are out doing their yoga. Great for a picnic date. If you have extra time, the zoo is worth the support. There's also Fairytale Town and Funderland. Adventure play, jogging paths, soccer/softball fields, basketball courts, golf course, lakes, rock garden, and much more!! I've also seen a lot of photography! Family photos to couples to special occasions!! If you haven't ventured out...it's worth the trip!!

Jess L.

Yelp
I wish I had come to this park more often when I lived in Sacramento. There are so many pockets I didn't get to explore. However, the parts I visited were so lovely. You must check out the lily pond. There are seemingly never-ending paths for walking or running among tall trees. Most of the paths include some small gravel, so sometimes stones get in your shoes. Plan accordingly! There are a smattering of benches but not always quite where you wanted them. There are picnic table clusters, as well, for outdoor eating.

Yelp
Parking is easy and the lotus is stunning. The season started a month ago and there are still plenty when we visited.

Joyce T.

Yelp
lovely duck lake with lot of lotus plants. early morning, there were lot of photographers with tripods and professional gadgets surrounding the lake to take pictures of the beautiful blooming lotus flowers. lot of ducks swim around the lake, it's a pleasant time to walk around the park.

Sivilay T.

Yelp
Review #112 - 2020 After seeing so many beautiful pictures of the lotus pond on other people's posts on Facebook, I decided it was time I brought my nieces over and check it out for ourselves. We showed up at around 2:30 PM on Friday, June 26th, and it was around 90° so the kids weren't too excited about being out in the heat, but they still kept a good attitude. Luckily, we found a shaded parking spot so it was bearable by the time we returned to the car. The lotus pond was even more beautiful in person so it was definitely worth the almost 2-hour drive, while sitting in traffic. The park itself is nice and has plenty to offer. We saw an amusement park, but it wasn't open due to the coronavirus. We didn't really have an opportunity to explore much since it was so hot after walking around & taking pictures for about an hour. We did make of use the restroom & it wasn't very well maintained; plus, there's no door so it was a good thing that we came together to keep guard at the front.

Yelp
This precious green Sacramento landmark holds so much meaning to Sac. Here you can find your way to the Sacramento Zoo, as well as mini children's fun parks such as Fairytale Town and Funderland. And right across the street from this happening holy grail of a park is the biggest, most beautiful and diverse, community college which is known as Sacramento City College! Ooooooh how long I go back with this park! This park has really become my new sanctuary, to release stress and zone out a bit while getting my walks in. With Covid-19 going on, all the gyms are closed. I went back to the gym earlier this year and was consistent. And then only to find out that my gym as well as every other gym would close during this unfortunate time. I was not about to let this virus mess up my current fitness progress. So, I took solace at this Sacramento landmark known as William Land Park aka Land Park! Every evening, I make way into Land Park and walking on the trails along with other walkers, joggers, runners etc! There is plenty of parking all throughout the park, so that isn't a problem. I also zone out and walk through the beautiful neighborhoods of the fabulous 40 homes which are circulated around the park. Just about everyone I see throughout my walks, are so friendly. Most people will say Hi or wave their hand at you. You can smell the fragrance of the flowers blooming and sometimes the fragrance can be strong! Which I don't mind at all but if you have allergies, it's something good to know. There is a huge duck pond which consist of duck, sometimes ducklings, geese etc. I do believe if you wanna have a party at one of the barbeque/picnic area then you can call some number and reserve that area! Also there is a golf course there too! Overall Land Park is a great place to visit if you wanna relax your mind. Whether you go walking, running, jogging, having a picnic or feeding the duckies. Every night when I go walking, I witness so many memorable moments with all the families visiting there. I see parents with their kids feeding ducks, or teaching them to fly a kite, young n mature couples cupcaking with their little picnic set up n blankets, you know how it goes, wink wink! ;0) Living in Sacramento for 20 years now and I really finally get to see the true beauty this park holds for us Sac folks!

Yelp
Love love loved this park. Reminds me of Golden Gate Park and Central Park. There are so many things to do here...Zoo, Fairyland, lots of open space, a small amphitheater, ponds... We spent half a day here just walking and lounging around and taking in the sights.

Susan V.

Yelp
William Land Park is definitely my child hood memory. I grew up going to this park and I have to say, it is still one of the nicest park in Sacramento. It's very big, and there are so many different areas of the park that are very nice for pictures. I love the greens and the pond there. If you're looking for a local park to catch up with your friends or want to go out for a jog/walk, this is the place for you. :) There is also a small garden right across from fairytale land. It's very nice and very famous for photoshoots. The Sacramento Zoo is also there too! :) I know that during this pandemic, not a lot of places are open, but if you love nature and wants to find something closest to it, William Land Park is the place for you. I love coming out here to picnic or people watch. It's very relaxing. Oh, if you love pokemon go, this is the place!!! There are tons of poke stops here. Hahah Lastly, if you plan to throw a big party at the park, make sure to look online for table reservations.:)

Charles F.

Yelp
Positives: in south Sacramento. Spacious with plenty of trees. I think I saw at least 1 large soccer field, and at least 1 large baseball field? Across the street were a few stores including a grocery store. Negatives: parking can be difficult unless you park on the far edge of the park...don't bother parking across the street unless you want to walk farther and wait for a long traffic signal. It seems this park is specifically catered to families with young children, with the zoo, fairyland, and fun land. There's a little amphitheater stage and a lake, a variety of birds, and watch your step for the bird droppings. Overall a decent park but can be more than what it currently is.

Mister C.

Yelp
Very nice place with lots of activitied....BUT parking sucks...inconsiderate people leaving 6-7 feet between the cars in front equals insanity for later arrivals. Please mark parking spaces!!

Mary H.

Yelp
I love William Land Park. I've lived in 5 states and this park is by far my favorite.

Billy Y.

Yelp
Beautiful flowers. We arrived after 2pm. Most flowers are closed under the hot Sun. Flowers are fully open between 10 am to noon according to one photographer who is a local guy.

Misty T.

Yelp
William Land Park is beautiful, but huge. There's a lot to do there with your kids, such as Funderland and the Sacramento Zoo. There are a lot of picnic areas, baseball fields, basketball courts, a swim area for the kids, a lake to chill by, and so much more. However, the picnic areas aren't labelled, so it can get difficult to find a certain area if you're not completely familiar with the park. I attended a party today at the park and it was busy, busy, busy. Since the picnic areas aren't labeled even though the map on their website is, so it took me forever to find the area they were at at. However, it's a great place to have a summer picnic and/or a good place to chill in general. Lots of shade and plenty of parking. Overall, great place for families. If you're having a party there, make sure you have something distinct floating around, so you're family and friends can find you. Also, there's no alcohol allowed

Joyce W.

Yelp
What?! How is it that I've never reviewed this park??? We like this park even though we don't come here all that much. It's really beautiful. It's big, it's got so much to offer, but it's also quite crowded whenever we can spend some meaningful time there which is on the weekends. We like coming to Fairytale Town and sometimes we go to check out and say hi to the animals at SacZoo. There's also Funderland, which is a kiddie amusement park with roller coaster rides and such, but this review isn't about those kids fun places, it's about WL Park itself. WL is nice because it's like a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of city life in Sacramento. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll under the big trees along any of the paths throughout the park. You can look up at the big sky at night and actually gaze up stars! You can walk alongside the pond and visit with (chase?) the ducks. There's lots of picnic tables throughout the park for family gatherings, but those require reservation with City of Sac Park and Rec. However, I'm pretty sure on weekdays (and even on weekends if not occupied or reserved) you can just chill at a picnic table and have a nice picnic lunch with your friends and family. This park is well kept and beautiful. The landscaping is natural and provide wonderful backdrops of photo shoots too. It's centrally located in the heart of Sacramento in the Land Park neighborhood (duh), and just right across from Sacramento City College so there's a lot of events held here at WL Park. For your convenience there's also tons of restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and other shops around so you can get drinks and food before or after your trip here. There's also a golf course that's pretty renown here, but I don't golf so I don't know much about it, I just know it's nice enough. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, there are still several playgrounds with play structures here for all the little kids or the young at heart. A great park overall, and I'm glad William Land Park remains a well-maintained and treasured public park in Sacramento for our community today and for generations to come. =)

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Being born and raised here in Sacramento, William Land Park holds many wonderful memories, I can still remember my parents taking me and my siblings to the Zoo, Fairytale Town, and best of all Funderland. I enjoyed riding the dragon roller coaster. Put your hands in the air like you just don't care! Weeeeeeee! That was over 50 years ago. Wow ! how time flies. As a child back then, this place was the next best thing to Disneyland. Moving forward 50 year, this is where we took our daughter to enjoy and experience the wonderful amenities the park has to offer. To make her own unforgettable memories. This park has different uses for different people. Some enjoy walking or jogging around the park for their daily exercise.. Other enjoy to just relax by the pond to feed the ducks. With barbecue stations in the picnic area this would be the perfect place to have that family barbecue or birthday party. For those who enjoy Shakespeare, they have readings and plays on their outdoor stage during the summer. On Sunday's they have their farmers market. Selling the best produce that nature has to offer. Are there any golfers out there? They also have a nine hole golf course. Just watch out for the balls! "FORE" So come on out to the park and have fun! That's what life is all about!

Kimberly P.

Yelp
We love the ENCLOSED playground at this park! Plently of parking in the area, two play structures and swing sets: (one for toddlers, one for children), a sand area (with built in excavator) AND a play pool (ALWAYS with a lifeguard on duty) open from mid June until end of August (google days and times it is open.). There is also a restroom on site (that actually has doors! But bring some soap/hand sanitizer.) What more can you ask for?!?! Certain days and times it gets packed. (Afternoons, weekends there are tons of party's in the whole William land park because there is so much shade and lovely grass.)

Jennifer C.

Yelp
I went on a 3 Mile jog around the park. It's a great place to exercise and super spacious. There's an area for pull ups and crunches, and there's also kid amusement parks with the zoo nearby. The homes are beautiful nearby and safe.

Ashi C.

Yelp
This is a big open park to hold picnic, private parties and etc. For big events, you need to get a permit. Beautiful park and close to fairytale, zoo and funderland.

Demesha J.

Yelp
I really do like this park. I've visited several times, but Saturday was my second 5k experience there and it was very nice. I love how shaded it is, the walking routes are wide enough for our HUGE stroller and the ducks were nice to watch. but BE WAE OF THE DUCK POOP

Winnie W.

Yelp
absolutely love walking through this beautiful and spacious park. My dad and I love coming here for our walks. The park is surrounded by such beautiful and unique homes. There's several benches available for picnics, baseball field, and a large enough area to host events and sports. There are different areas with built in work out equipment. This neighborhood has always been a great and safe area. However, the only thing is I'd say is lately I've noticed multiple times cars parked along the side where individuals are sitting inside for periods of time smoking. More of a FYI.

Monica C.

Yelp
William land park reminds me so much of my childhood . My family would always have picnics and barbecues here when I was a kid . I have great memories scootering ( is that even a word?) around and roller skating in my sketchers 4 wheelers with my cousins . In kindergarten , I would come to fairytale town for field trips ( was anyone else scared of Humpty Dumpty?) What I love about this park is that it's so huge and there's always stuff to do . After you're done here, you can walk over to sushi cafe for a nice lunch or dinner ! Everything is so conveniently located by this park and it's great ! They sometimes hold events and marathons here like festivals and the urban cow which is always fun :) William land park will always be one of my favorite parks and I look forward to taking my future kids here one day to enjoy what I enjoyed growing up :)

Brandon L.

Yelp
William Land Park is one of the largest parks I have been to. Located in a older community that has been there for years, there are plenty of activities to do. Some activities for the kids are Sacramento Zoo, Funderland, Fairytale Town, fountain with a pond, and any activity that you can do on grass. They also have baseball fields if you want to start a game up. Sacramento City College is located across the street on one end of the park while homes surround the park. Throwing a party at the park is allowed but I am sure you might want to arrive early to claim a spot. Currently this place is a nest of Abra for Pokemon Go.

Jason U.

Yelp
The park has plenty of free parking throughout, as well as on the nearby streets. There's also a couple large parking areas. The park houses a few special areas including the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, a golf course and Funderland. These all have their own Yelp entries. The park itself has several ball parks and people regularly setup volleyball courts for grass volleyball on the weeekends (weather permitting). There are paved sidewalks in some areas, while others are dirt - but pretty smooth for running or pushing a stroller. The parks office is open during the week for making reservations for 3 hour blocks of party areas (park table areas) for the weekends. It's pretty common to see park tables filled with parties and bounce houses, but even then there's still tables in other areas. So it's always a great place to bring the family for a picnic and play on the weekend.

Stefan T.

Yelp
Well, this park is the center of a very prestigious neighborhood that my mom grew up in. Grandma and Grandpa did well to buy into this neighborhood where houses can easily be a million dollars. My mom has fond memories as a kid going on bike rides through the park and it was and still is one heck of a neighborhood. Beautifully maintained and very large. Great for a jog in the park or find refuge on a hot day under the numerous old trees. Neighborhoods around here are stunning. The houses now sit on tree lined streets where the trees have gotten so old and big as to have created a canopy. Houses are all unique and appear to be custom built. A snobby park here for anybody in the greater Sacramento area to enjoy.

Kristina I.

Yelp
This park reminds me of my childhood. It's one of the main places that is still around and hasn't changed too much. I remember coming here as a kid and loving it. I'm so happy I can now come back as an adult and bring my children. We are able to make new experiences and they love it. The park is huge in size! Plenty of room for parties and celebrations, picnics, and or gatherings. There is a nearby golf area, walking area, and places for group-sports. There is lots of parking areas and lots of shade to fully enjoy the outdoor atmosphere. Also one of the best parts is there is a convenient restroom. It's in a central location making it easier with kids. There is a huge duck pond with a water fountain. Kids usually love this and it's a great place to walk or have lunch on one of the picnic tables. Big community events are usually held here because it's a great location with a large size for people to enjoy. The bigger attractions within the park are Fairytale Town, Sacramento Zoo, and Funderland. All of these places are wonderful to bring kids too. They offer all kinds of things for the kids to do and all three are within walking distances. We just came here for The International Kids day event. The full event was free of charge and there were company booths, a train ride, pony rides, bounce houses, and food trucks! The kids and I definitely enjoyed ourselves. I do suggest this place and we can't wait to come back.

Carole B.

Yelp
This park is so beautiful. It's the big, green heart of Sacramento, providing shade and greenery on those triple digit dog days of summer. It's easy to get lost in the park, but there are so many lovely detours. There's a zoo, a little amusement park for the kids and a lovely pond and fountain. Many fond memories here.

Kristina M.

Yelp
This is such a wide, green, clean and beautiful park. Went here once for breakfast one morning. I sat by the pond with all of the ducks. It was very peaceful. There's a lot of dog walkers at this park. I noticed a few people feeding the ducks bread. There were a few people here too exercising. It's the perfect park to do activities. There is plenty of parking on the winding roads of this park.

Ashley R.

Yelp
William land park is beautiful through all the seasons! It is an amazing spot for portrait and engagement photography. It is also a great park just for picnics and visiting. The flower garden is full and lush. icontinue to visit this park often.

Chris H.

Yelp
Gorgeous park, HUGE, with beautiful mature trees, picnic areas, fields and acres of paths to walk & explore. It is a Sacramento gem.

Donna S.

Yelp
This is a very old style park. They used to make city parks like green spaces without any houses. Streets meander around this beauty park. Even in the drought it looked green to me but maybe it's my eyes . It's a gem. In the middle of the city! There is a nine hole golf course that is amazing and I can't wait to play on Sacramento's oldest course. I am sure they have many regulars playing here . The park is used for many different types of events. It's a wonderful place to walk or run. The surrounding neighborhood is extremely beautiful. Old well maintained homes. I recently did the Urban Cow half Marathon which started inside the park. I found the park to be a good match for Sacramento. This park is a treasure and should be treated as such. Perfect for families!
