Landgasthof Zum Hirsch

Amazing restaurant listed at Gault et Millau, awesome dinner, nice people paying a lot of attention to customers. Hotel rooms are basic but ok, however no breakfast was served what is not convenient at all. This is the only reason why only 4 stars, as the restaurant worth 6!

We stopped at Zum Hirsch twice on our way from Italy to the Netherlands and both times we truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel rooms are simple , but very comfortable and clean.||The real treat though comes from the kitchen! The restaurant offers amazing dishes, mostly prepared with local products and vegetables and herbs from the hotel's garden.||Prices are very reasonable and the wine list offers an ample choice of excellent German wines.||During our last visit we had dinner inside, but last year we enjoyed our meal " al fresco", overlooking the garden and, yes, the herb patches!

Our room, at the back of the hotel, was quiet, and had a pleasant outlook; but it was very dated, and the facilities, particularly the bathroom, were pretty basic. The corridor was very jaded.||||This is a shame, because the bar and restaurant aspects of the hotel are fine - it is a characterful building, and there are a couple of bar/dining areas, plus a pretty and spacious restaurant at the rear with a terrace overlooking the family garden. The food was good and the menu extensive, and breakfast also was good, and constantly replenished.||||There is good off-street parking, but no wi-fi.

This is, we think, the essence of what Michelin means with “BIB Gourmand”. ||Beautiful hotel/restaurant (we came only for the restaurant). ||Warm welcome and service; superbly executed traditional cuisine. ||Nice winelist, solely German, with the exception of two Spanish red’s. ||The “Grauer Burgunder” we ordered, was full bodied and accompagnied all our dishes very well.||Food tasted delicious. ||Amuse was simply bread with “schmalz”, but oh, how tasty that was. ||Partner and I always switch plates if possible, therefore we can taste more dishes. ||Entree: cracking fresh salad, with pickled pumpkin. ||Soup: never tasted a pumpkin soup so deep and powerful! ||Main course: tenderly stewed beef cheek with “spätzle”, sauteed veggies and veal stock based sauce, it blows you away. ||Vegetarian lasagna, with deep intense flavours. ||Beautiful creamy desserts. ||And it’s all organic!||Example of how well thought this family kept business is: at our table of six, 3 of us were facing the wall, but looked in a big mirror, so they could also see what went on in the restaurant. Result: everybody happy. Wish we saw this more often.||And all this for very reasonable prices. What more could you want.||Next time we pass from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart, we will certainly go again.

I have been in Zum Hirsch, Remchingen several times and always enjoyed the cozy athmosphere and friendly service. When arriving late, they still improvised some basic food and the room was comfortable and pleasant. I find the personell flexible and hospitable.

Nice little hotel in the centre of Remchingen about 15 km from Karlsruhe. The rooms are clean and sufficiently equipped. The hotel restaurant is nice and cosy. The menu is filled with local-regional dishes and are worth the try.

We've stayed the night at the Zum Hirsch several times when travelling through Europe, always a lovely welcome, cosy bar and restaurant. Very pleasant to enjoy a great dinner and good night's sleep to refresh mind and body during a long journey.

Had dinner here in this charming authentic wonderfully German restaurant. Food was great, hospitality was great. Highly recommend but make reservations.
