"Argentina and Uruguay are the main sources of inspiration for the elegant De Salentein. Not only does the menu feature the traditional cuisines of those countries, with dishes such as chimichurri and empanadas, but the restaurant even raises its own beef cattle and has its own winery in Argentina. Led by chef Rik Jansma, the kitchen team elevates robust South American flavours with a touch of sophistication. The distinctive aromas of a sea bass ceviche, for instance, are enhanced with a leche del tigre vinaigrette. Cooked to perfection over flames, the picanha is paired with a rich brown sauce. For something a little more down-to-earth, head to Bodega Portillo, housed in the same building. A Latin American adventure awaits!" - Michelin Inspector

Been there again for dinner, definitely not the service you expect from what should be a classy restaurant, the food was ok. But I will spend my money elsewhere... Wonderful location, great place, we just stumbled across this little castle & decided to take a look and have a drink. Wonderful wine, our fav*Malbec* from Mendoza, Argentina. We sat by the fireplace. Friendly staff, professional. Great mix of Spanish music, from bachata & merengue to jazz. The only thing was that we wanted a bite to eat. An appetizer, however this was not possible. First the kitchen was not open. (Understandable)But even when it opened 5.30pm it was still not possible because they were fully booked, eventhough we were seated by the fireplace and not at the table... and for such a luxurious place, about 10€ a glass of wine... I would have expected to be able to get an appetizer... This was not the decision of the staff, they had to ask the manager and he was the desicionmaker. So no, not flexible as you would expect in a 5 star restaurant. We will be back to try their meals...

I went with my husband for a nice dinner. Our waiter was very professional but also friendly. My husband had the carpaccio and I the tartar with fois gras. Both delicious high quality of the meat. Only little details, de foie gras is more like a paté/mousse and was way too cold so it was quite hard. Main course was the Bavette for my husband and 1/2 lobster for me. I realized that my lobster was missing the claw so we mentioned it to our lovely waiter who fixed the all thing very quickly. It was a mistake from the young cook but who doesn’t make mistakes!! Overall we had an amazing night with excellent food. We will definitely come back

I have changed my review from 5 stars 2 years ago to 3 stars today. We have visited the restaurants on a few occasions over the past years and we have found that the quality has definitely gone down. The seating arrangement is definitely less interesting. They have a "middle row" in the back which is the most annoying place in the world to sit - people are walking by all the time and one of the waiters kept bumping my back every time he walked by. Very, very annoying. The bread offering has gone from a full basket to one single small bread cut into small pieces. The olive oil is no longer the nice greek olive oil but an okay run-of-the-mill brand. The salt mills are annoying because they all squeak very loudly. Every time someone grinds some salt, the fillings in my teeth complain. The manly appetiser has disappeard. There are no longer three layers of meat. It has now become a much less desirable serving with fried calamares in the middle, 2 oysters on the bottom, 2 very very small empanadas and some dried ham that I really didnt' like the texture of and that was about 70% fat. The quality of the food has also gone down. While still very decent, I don't think it justifies 90 euro per person. Soft drinks have shrunk to 20cl bottles. Bearnaise sauce is okay but cold. When I complained, the chef explained they can't make a hot bearnaise. So I guess all the restaurants in France and Flanders are doing it wrong. There is not enough staff or the staff they have is not perceptive enough. It takes up to 15 minutes to get a menu and sometimes there is no staff around for 5 minutes - which is a little annoying if you run out of mayo or you want to order more fries. The "fancy" Salentein restaurant seems to have the same menu as El Portillo so there is no longer a reason to visit that place. I believe they used to have a separate kitchen and/or chef but now they serve the same food but at a higher price. Certainly no longer worth the trip from Amersfoort to come here.

Wonderful location where staff will go an extra mile to inform you about their great meat dishes and of course wide range of Salentein wines. Also certified ambassadors for Graham's port!

It was my first time there. Upon entry they greeted us, take our Coats then bring us to our table.. the service was outstanding, the dinner (Steak) were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner experience 👍🥂
