Landgoed Duin en Kruidberg (Santpoort-Noord, North Holland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A country-house hotel on the outskirts of Haarlem, mere minutes from Amsterdam, Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg radiates old-world charm. The rooms and suites in the manor house are classic in style, while those in the adjoining wing are more modern, though still in keeping with the manor’s aesthetic. There’s an expansive spa and wellness facility, as well as a restaurant serving modern-classic French-inspired cooking. The dunes at Zuid-Kennemerland National Park are close by, as is IJmuider Beach." - Tablet Hotels

Booked a suite with the fairytale package. ||The room we received was nothing like the photos online. There were two sofas in the room that were visibly old and semi-filthy. A TV mount in front of the bed, in the middle of the whole room kills the whole vibe and feels very out of place. Shower had visible stains from mold and water stains. ||The Spa experienced was mid at best since there were no staff around to possibly regulate how people act. That led to spa visitors to not respect the calmness most people try to achieve when visiting a spa. The steam room was completely turned off on the first day and clearly not having enough steam on the following day. The bar staff was unfortunately clueless but in fairness the lady kindly admitted that she had been behind the bar for less than ten times. I don’t know what kind of service is management expecting from a person that has been behind the bar a handful of times and what kind of value does my 14/15 euro cocktail gets from all that.||On the pros side, the staff at the restaurant was very pleasant and kind, same for the front office. ||I am afraid that you are better off finding someplace else. The 500 euros that all of that would cost you are definitely not a value for your money. The location itself is not enough to create a memorable experience.

My daughter & I stayed here while on a bicycle tour through the Netherlands. We were enchanted by the castle-like architecture and lovely grounds. Ate dinner & breakfast here, both were good. We loved the orange juice fresh squeezed in the machine right before our eyes. This was our first stay in the Netherlands outside of a budget hotel near the train station, and we were delighted by the beauty & history. |Easy to access by bike.

What a wonderful experience. I usually prefer local food in more humble spots rather than several courses fine dining in a formal setting. But sometimes a special occasion calls for something different: a date night, an anniversary, or a milestone. I’ve tried fine dining in many parts of the world, but this was the first time I really appreciated it. My wife and I went for a dinner date and chose the seasonal four-course menu. The food was beautifully presented, and every dish was full of flavor with the right portions. Each course was carefully put together, with a mix of sweet, sour, and smoky notes that were perfectly balanced. The location, an old castle just north of Haarlem, made the evening even more special, and the hospitality was warm and attentive. For the quality of the food, the beautiful setting, and the overall experience, the price was more than reasonable. Kudos to the management and chefs for creating such a gem in Haarlem.

Our stay at this hotel was part of our honeymoon. We carefully selected every detail of the trip and reached out to each accommodation in advance, hoping everything would go smoothly. Unfortunately, this hotel was a major disappointment. First of all, we were given a room overlooking the parking lot — despite specifically requesting a nice room within the category we had already booked. It felt almost ironic. It would’ve been easy to ask in advance if such a location would be acceptable. In the end, we were offered to stay one night with a garden view and the next with a parking lot view. No apology was given, no effort to make up for the inconvenience. The whole interaction left us feeling like a nuisance rather than welcomed guests. There was no sense of hospitality — just fake smiles and cold formality. Secondly, every simple request seemed to cause inconvenience to the staff. There was a constant feeling that we were asking for too much, even when we weren’t asking for anything out of the ordinary. Thirdly, we discovered that access to the spa — which is advertised as included in the room rate — is not actually included unless you bring your own slippers. Otherwise, you’re expected to buy them for 10 euros per pair. Slippers that should absolutely be standard in a hotel of this category. It’s not about the 20 euros, it’s about the way this is handled. It felt petty and unprofessional, and frankly, a bit insulting. In the end, we were left with a strong sense of being unwelcome — all while paying full price for the experience. Yes, there were positives. But in the end, it’s the people who make a place special — and here, they truly let us down.

We had lunch at the restaurant and, unfortunately, the service did not live up to the setting. After being seated, we waited around 15 minutes before anyone came to bring the menu and take our order, and only after we approached the staff ourselves. A brief apology was offered, and fortunately the food arrived quickly once ordered. However, clearing the plates and receiving the dessert menu was again a slow and frustrating process. When we finally wanted to order dessert, the wait was so long that we gave up, paid, and left. For €44 (a bagel, a rather bland salmon salad, and a bottle of still water), the value for money was disappointing. The location is undeniably beautiful, but next time we will limit ourselves to just a drink to enjoy the setting.

Google
Absolutely wonderful hotel, restaurant, and wedding venue. The food is fantastic (Michelin-star quality), and they consider dietary needs (ideally let them know in advance - they can adapt their dishes to be gluten-free and dairy-free, for instance). The location is stunning, and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The staff is great too, going above and beyond (special shout-out to Kevin, Tron, Charlotte, and Nathalie). Our wedding weekend there was absolutely amazing - thank you, Saskia and team!

Such a wonderful place and amazing value for money. And the food was so good, too. Plus the terrace was a great place to hang out for an hour or two in the afternoon. Great service, great place.

Google
Weekend getaway with extended family - this place is absolutely perfect. Note that the front of the building is currently under renovation and there does not seem to be any notification on the website about it. Neither when I spoke to the staff on the phone, they did not mention it. Small wrinkle on the overall great impression. We also had dinner in the restaurant, which was great! All very well thought through when it comes to stroller access.

Yelp
My husband and I spent one night the Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg. It was the first night of a 5 night, 6 day bike ride between Amsterdam & Bruges though Backroads. HOTEL: A former estate built to display wealth, converted into a hotel. The grounds are beautiful. The first floor rooms have the intended ostentatious display of ornate detail. It doesn't feel very Dutch... ROOM: The good: Room 205 has gorgeous large windows overlooking the pond and trees. The king size 4 poster bed has a comfortable mattress. There are two large wingback chairs so that a couple can easily relax with each other. The room is VERY large. The bad: Located on what seems to be an annex, room 205 is very tired. The theme is Indonesia/Asia, which is a nod to the Dutch colonial presence in Indonesia. Two of the four walls are painted a dark red. During the day this is not an issue, but at night the room is VERY dark as there is very little lighting. The top bedding is very warn and thus made me feel like I didn't want to touch it. BATHROOM: The WC is very dated and there is a persistent odor in the WC, which I also noticed in the bathrooms on the first floor. The bathroom had updated white tile in the shower and around the sink. BREAKFAST: Served in the modernized basement. Breakfast was delicious and there were many options: hard/soft boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, fresh breads/rolls, cheeses, meats, hagelslag (breakfast chocolate sprinkles), muesli, etc. Very fresh and many options. My overall impression: this felt like an over-used, not-so-clean Bed & Breakfast, not a hotel.

Yelp
We have visited here before ,inside is beautiful and clean.staff is very friendly and there is long no time waiting before you get served. Restroom is also clean, they also have a smoke room which is convenient. Our only disappointment is their red wine, the few times we drank red wine there is not good and are red wine drinkers.but it did not stop from visiting again, outside seating is impossible when it's god weather and there are info brochures telling a bit of the history of the building. Very nice to go a group or a company or just to have dinner for two.you will feel like a princess.I did and I only had wine . Give it try Nb they speak also english

Yelp
I was at a team meeting/retreat here for three days last week. The conference facilities are top notch. They set the room up exacted as requested and were very responsive to any additional requests we had. During meeting breaks we were able to enjoy their coffee bar --which was outstanding. Over three days I enjoyed cappuccinos, lattes and hot tea. Each were outstanding. While we were there for the team retreat we stayed on premise each night. The sleeping facilities are quite nice. The rooms are rather large, especially by European standards. The views from the windows were breathtaking. I highly recommend this establishment for off site meetings, retreats or just a location.
