"This fine dining restaurant is housed within the small boutique hotel of the same name, which boasts a pleasant location slightly off the beaten track. At the helm is chef Niclas Nussbaumer, whose style could be described as classic French-based cuisine incorporating modern, innovative elements. He skilfully showcases first-rate seasonal ingredients, which he is keen to source from the region. If you wish, you can add the optional cheese course to the end of the set menu. Harmonious beverage pairings. The pleasingly personal service comes courtesy of a front-of-house team led by the charming Lea Rupp – the chefs, too, bring out and explain the dishes. Tip: For an overnight stay, there are very tasteful guestrooms in the smart house dating back to 1603." - Michelin Inspector

We booked the dinner, bed and breakfast package through the website. Follow up emails from them were friendly. We took the time to walk up from the station in the late autumn sunshine, otherwise a transfer service was offered. The initial reception was friendly, with a welcome sekt and a tour of the small hotel. We would then use the wellness area with the other guests. The room was large and confortable. We were asked to come down to dinner in good time so we could have apperitives in the lounge. The only niggle with our stay was that when we went through to the restaurant we were offered another apperitive and then had to wait whilst the canapes were served with only water, to drink. Then the wine pairing started with the "proper" menu. Either the restaurant could serve the canapes to the guests in the lounge or offer a wine for the canapes in the pairing. The food its self were very accomplished classic flavours. The wine pairing passing well to each dish. We then had a good a la carte breakfast, which was ordered the night before. We could then make use of the late checkout included in the dinner, bed and breakfast, and use the wellness area privately for an hour, before again making use of the late autumn sun and walking along the lake to Aha.

Sometimes I like to visit extraordinary Michelin-like restaurants to surprise my taste buds. As with any kind of art, culinary art has logic. Usually it includes the combination of structure, taste and temperature. I was expecting to experience extraordinary combinations. This was the case for marbled beef tartar wrapped in crispy nigiri and Pickled celery. However, the rest of the dishes were too soft and pasty-like, so all that remained was to enjoy the combination of taste and not the structure. Because of that and partially the atmosphere (waitress "Duzen" instead of "Siezen"+sometimes unfriendly), I give 4(3.5 actually) instead of 5. Also, please reserve enough time for a visit( I guess more than 4h). The price -value ratio is closer to 3. If you have time, I would rather go to another Michelin-like restaurant. Taking a private plane from Donaueschingen and flying to another restaurant would cost you around the same. Regarding location: roads could be better. Otherwise fine.

Very charming hotel with lots of character both inside (light and airy, but with wooden beams, balconies and tasteful, new and modern fixtures) and outside as well (jacuzzi, small pool, manicured lawn with creek and lounge chairs). They even had a sauna. It felt like a zen-like oasis / fairy tale location (think Hansel and Gretel in an old charming wooden cottage) near a forest.||My biggest gripe is that we could not eat in the hotel restaurant for dinner as it was “fully booked”. Some sort of high Michelin rating. I looked in the doors of the restaurant area and could only see like 10 tables which were mostly 2-person tables. So I recommend reserving when you book.||Btw - the hotel seemed to cater to couples (no children below like 14) for special occasions.||The hotel does not have much of any view of Schluchsee (like 20min walk to actual lake which seems very pretty). Not sure what options would be there if you wanted to enjoy the lake (rent a boat, kayak, swim) during your stay (we only stayed one night).

Completely zen, expect trickling water and birdsong as you enjoy the gardens and fall asleep. The restaurant is another level with incredible wine pairings. Hidden cutlery box 😎👌🏾😮‍💨.

we were thrilled with our stay in your hotel: beautifully renovated preserving the authentic atmosphere of the Black Forest, the restaurant offers incredible food: a fusion of Japanese and local gastronomy. Incredible wines. Water from the garden’s spring. Healthy breakfast.....The young staff is very dynamic, efficient, available. Congratulations to the new owner: very professional. Last but not least the nearby forest, lakes and mountains are beautiful and pure. We had a lovely stay! Thank you!
