Landhaus Scherrer

"Heinz O. Wehmann is to Landhaus Scherrer (which has a spruce new exterior!) what St Michael's Church is to Hamburg! Since 1980 he has been head chef in this restaurant that was opened by Armin and Emmi Scherrer in 1976 (and awarded one, and at times even two MICHELIN stars as of 1978). For years the outstanding regional, often organically certified produce has been par for the course here. As classic as the interior – the large-format erotic painting remains the decorative focus! – are also the dishes. The Holstein venison, served with an excellent rosemary sauce, for instance, is absolutely fantastic. The wine cellar, which has grown to over 10 000 bottles, is also impressive! The service is attentive and professional, but by no means stuffy. For an alternative to gourmet cuisine, head to Wehmann's Bistro for good regional dishes." - Michelin Inspector

Uber 5 stars experience! from tasting menu to a la carte, the team offers diversity of pure fine dining. Luckily, we had the extraordinary chef‘s table surprising experience. It doesn’t only mean good food but more than an entertaining evening for us. Watching them cooking with passion and put details on the plates. Laughing and sharing the wonderful evening, food and drinks with them. Landhaus Scherrer crew is absolutely fabulous. After dining, we discovered the wine collection guided by the sommelier. The evening was doubtless 5 stars. Thank you!

We had a large group for business dinner with various dietary restrictions and food preferences. The restaurant understood our quite challenging request and had a perfect menu for us all with amazing taste. Wine list was on another level. Can trust them to pair with food. We had a great time there.

The vegan menu was a complete disappointment. It failed to bring out the flavor and texture of all the ingredients. Especially the beetroot dish was canned texture and full of sauce. I'm angry that I spent four full hours trying to eat this food. The service and taste of Alleno Paris, which I went to in July last year, was great, and it was painful to sit here today. The service of the staff was distracting and far from friendly.

What a lovely night!!! Great atmosphere and delicious food. The only missing thing is that there are no vegan or vegetarian meals you have to call a few days before and let them now. Overall, great place!

Google
Unlikely bad All right, tastes differ. And you can get spoiled. But the experience at this restaurant really defies any description. It was so abominable without any imagination and also just plain unappetizing that we needed days to recover from the experience. There was no clue as to which wine to serve, the food did not de-emphasize the local beer pub, there was no explanation of the food - though there would be little to explain either - the staff barely spoke English nor did they know what they were serving but most of all, the food was tasteless without so much as a moment of enjoyment. With a restaurant like this one wonders if Michelin gets paid to award the star every year. It could hardly be otherwise. Because we are almost always impressed or surprised in one way or another by a star, but this ...: You'll have saved up and think you're in for a special evening. Wow. Michelin. Read this. And remove the star. But you can only do that if you do another check. I bet that hasn't actually happened for a long time. Shame!

Food was amazing. They are able to provide a six course vegan menu if you call ahead. Which is excellent. The carrot soup, the risotto and the desert in the vegan menu were particularly spectacular. The ambience is amazing. Staff speaks good English and it's super friendly. A very friendly vibe for such a formal setting. Would certainly recommend the experience

Yelp
A perfect experience. Impeccable service, with perfectly executed dishes. Very special meal in a wonderful city. I hope to someday eat here again.

Yelp
What a gem this place is. I walked a solid 2 miles from the S-Bahn to get here, as it's nestled in a Hamburg neighborhood. It's not a tourist spot. It was worth the walk. Landhaus Scherrer is an interesting combination of first class and family in its decor and service. The single waiter than handled my room was a gentleman - thoughtful, professional, and capable of a laugh at the sight of a child (a family was dining that night). The greeting woman seemed quite similar - a bit serious at first, but clearly very kind if you needed help. So the atmosphere was excellent, but the food actually topped it. This is no neighborhood comfort food. After picking out an incredibly inexpensive (but good) wine for me, the waiter brought out a complementary plate of variations on a pumpkin theme - ice cream, custard, pumpkin slices, etc, all prepared differently and all wonderful. After a salad came the crusted duck dish. It was one of the best duck dishes I've ever had - full of flavor and wonderfully prepared. I also had an excellent desert, but I can't recall it any longer. In sum, Landhaus Scherrer is a real find for a visitor of Hamburg. I hope it's well-known by the locals. Regardless, all who visit or live in Hamburg should stop in.

Yelp
Definitely not my cup of tea. Thankfully I've only been once. It's actually a couple years back and it ended up being the most expensive meal I've ever paid for (seriously!) I had invited an ex and her folks out to dinner. They had taken us out many times hence it was payback time. Unfortunately they were big eater and drinkers. A multi-course meal and many bottles (expensive as all hell) later we left this place, my wallet empty. Thankfully the food is ok and definitely of higher quality. The wine selection was also good. Yet, would I go back? No! I particularly dislike the decor and places like this in general. The majority of people eating here are not my crowd. It's fineplaces like this are made for those people. And one star is added to this review for providing such a place for them. That keeps 'em away from my favorite places. If you like typical Hamburg flair, with a real feeling of lots of Hanseatic upper class around you, this is your mecca. You can't go wrong with the food as it is a well run establishment. You probably won't be going here if you can't afford it so prices won't discourage you. The location is also quite nice I have to admit. I nice old house.perfect if you live nearby on the Elbchaussee and there's parking in the back..bring your Bentley's if you got 'em! If you're young, modern, cosmopolitan or anything but Hanseatic blue-blood, you'll feel better elsewhere.
