"Diners are assured of warm hospitality at this long-standing family business run by Stefanie and Franz Tanner with palpable dedication. As well as providing chic, modern Alpine-style guestrooms, they serve delicious seasonal food made with select ingredients (e.g. Chiemgau beef loin with herb butter and BBQ sauce) in the cosy, tastefully designed restaurant. The kitchens are open for hot meals September to April Mon-Wed 5-9pm and Thu-Sat 12-9pm; May to August Tue-Sat 12-9pm. Incidentally, the restaurant is a member of the Slow Food community." - Michelin Inspector

Perfect place to stay. Beautiful big room that looks out across the surrounding countryside, lovely balconies, very comfortable sofa and bed, great desk. We had an excellent rest and would have loved to have stayed longer. The proprietor is very kind.

It was a great experience here, the staff was very kind and helpful, we also had to cancel the reservation on the day we should have arrived and the staff canceled it with non charge and kindly let us know that they still made it to reserve for someone else the rooms so we dont feel bad about cancelation. Thank you very much.

Excellent Bavarian cuisine. We came here four times with three kids. The kids' dishes are delicious. We tried various meals ourselves and were never disappointed. Locally sourced produce, authentic Bavarian hospitality, credible sustainability efforts. That is the kind of restaurant that will be successful moving into an uncertain future. We will come back.

We stayed here for one night on our way home from Croatia. We were greated by the owner and brought to a very spacious room with a small kitchen, separate toilet and bath/shower. The balcony is shared with the neighboors room, but there is also a very spacious terras and garden. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The staff is friendly and accomodating, but some staffmembers were at some times perhaps a little inexperienced. Breakfast was the best we had in 10 days. We have put this hotel on our favourites list for future layovers and can certainly recommend it.

Before the positives - two watchouts...||||The hosts have a rest day on Tuesdays....||WiFi signal is somewhat prehistoric in pace||||Otherwise - great setting, just outside Waging am See, short stroll into town - you have to go under the road but I did not feel unsafe. Plenty of parking in the town if you wish to drive. Nice comfortable rooms and great comfy beds. Bathroom was spacious and had a BATH - always a positive but balanced out by the inadequate shower screen which meant the floor was always wet after a shower. Recently decorated - we were in an apartment as it had cooking facilities - wouldn't bother as the food from the restaurant was superb and good value. Breakfast superb also, service friendly and polite. In terms of activities, bikes were offered, no swimming pool but there was one nearby anyway. Sauna and wellness centre but if the truth be told the six days we spent there was not enough - we would definitely consider going back for another, longer stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at the Landhaus Tanner. All of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The location is beautiful and offers easy access to the stunning city of Salzburg, and a number of ski resorts. I visited Kitzbuhel which is great for skiing, eating and shopping. The most fantastic thing about Landhaus Tanner is the food! Coming home (it really felt like that) at the end of each day and having a lovely dinner in the relaxed restaurant was brilliant. The menu is typical Bavarian and the quality is second to none. A massive thank you to Franz, Steffi and the team who made our stay so enjoyable. I am already looking at my diary to plan my next visit. See you all soon. Sorry I seem to only have pictures of the food!

My wife walks with fairly great difficulty, and when we book a hotel through booking.com (otherwise a great site!), the hotel staffs more than often tends to overlook our warning that we do not want to climb stairs. So did Landhaus Tanner, but they took the high road by giving us an excellent upgrade for free. No stairs and a beautiful view on the nearby village, Waging am See. On the night of arrival, we had a truly excellent dinner; my wife is vegetarian, and the cook took every effort to abide by her wishes (which is remarkable for German cuisine that is reigned by pork meat!). We had a great sleep on highly comfortable beds. Next day, the breakfast was truly top class, with a significant emphasis on healthy - but nevertheless delicious! - foods, although the written menu was a bit pedantic by warning that any "extra" sandwiches that would be prepared by way of "free lunch" would be added to the bill. In conclusion - it was a pity that we were just on our way through to Italy, and only could spend one night, as Landhaus Tanner is amidst a gorgeous region (Bayerische Alpen, Berchesgaden, Salzburg), and is a wonderful - and highly affordable - place to explore these sites.

Highly recommended. A very warm welcome (good English spoken). Very comfortable and spacious room with modern high-quality fittings. Excellent quality food also at reasonable prices. A business trip so nice I would be tempted to return for pleasure.
