My wife walks with fairly great difficulty, and when we book a hotel through booking.com (otherwise a great site!), the hotel staffs more than often tends to overlook our warning that we do not want to climb stairs. So did Landhaus Tanner, but they took the high road by giving us an excellent upgrade for free. No stairs and a beautiful view on the nearby village, Waging am See. On the night of arrival, we had a truly excellent dinner; my wife is vegetarian, and the cook took every effort to abide by her wishes (which is remarkable for German cuisine that is reigned by pork meat!). We had a great sleep on highly comfortable beds. Next day, the breakfast was truly top class, with a significant emphasis on healthy - but nevertheless delicious! - foods, although the written menu was a bit pedantic by warning that any "extra" sandwiches that would be prepared by way of "free lunch" would be added to the bill. In conclusion - it was a pity that we were just on our way through to Italy, and only could spend one night, as Landhaus Tanner is amidst a gorgeous region (Bayerische Alpen, Berchesgaden, Salzburg), and is a wonderful - and highly affordable - place to explore these sites.
