"This region, which is a popular destination for hiking and cycling enthusiasts, is home to this traditional family-run country hotel with its own spa facilities and lovely restaurant. There are regional, classic and international dishes on the menu, which is somewhat more limited at lunchtime. In winter, an open fireplace adds to the charming atmosphere." - Michelin Inspector

We only had dinner there, so I can't speak about the hotel stay. We had a tasty dinner, although the vegetable portion sizes were small and it's on the expensive side. Beautiful location and the interior is classy indeed! We visited it on a quiet sunny sunday and sat on the terrace. The manager speaks English well.

We went to Gasthaus Schütte for dinner. While the food was delicious, the service was rude unfortunately. The food took over two hours and the waiters neither apologized for the delay nor made up for the inconvenience. We believe it is importantly to give feedback for improvement purposes and when we did so they reacted offended. With the prices being very high, I do expect a decent service which was not the case. So I’d not recommend the place, sadly.

We booked two nights with a special dinner package. Always nice to be welcomed by the owner himself, who showed us our room as well. That was in the old part the complex, and by old I mean the age of the building (it's in the family for more then 500 years ...), so the disadvantage was the height of the ceiling. Or better, the not so heigh ceiling. But we managed to 'survive' without any bumps on the head. ||The room (suite) was spacious, clean and quiet. Good beds, nice duvets. The first night included a champagne Ruinart dinner in the a la carte restaurant. That was very nice indeed. The wine selection is also very good and prices are very reasonable. The second night was half board in the other restaurant and included a wine tasting. Quality still very good. Breakfast is very good as well and so is the spa area, with a large indoor swimming pool.||||All in all, it was a very pleasant stay. I can really recommend it!

We were here for walking with friends and to taste the atmosphere from this part of Germany. It is very well located and their restaurant is good and also the ' Stube' (bar) in the evening.||We had even live music on Sunday morning with a real big band from the region. Great!||Our rooms were very simple, although we had a huge room. But we heard that there are better rooms in another part of the hotel. We booked just before the weekend and that's why we had to take these rooms.

A family tradition for 3 generations now, I learned swimming in their wonderful pool space. The staff are all lovely, attentive and caring. The food is truly amazing from morning buffets to evening find dining with German countryside signature. Don't miss the plum cake or other delicious bakery items in the afternoon. Wonderfully located surrounded by nature, it is so beautiful to go for a walk or hike right by the hotel. Will be back for decades to come I'm sure.

We had a remarkable gourmet German dinner of wild game, pumpkin risotto and the kids had the best Wiener schnitzel in their lives. The wine selection was excellent. Overall good value for money in the restaurant-good quality and excellent service. The clientele seemed to be business groups, traditional German families, well heeled older German couples and some foreign tourists like ourselves. The service was friendly, professional and we felt welcomed with a German family run hospitality. This was by far our favorite restaurant in the Winterberg ski area. Don't miss out on a drink in the bar next to the fireplace.
