This traditional countryside hotel was the last stop on my five day road trip back and forth to Copenhagen from Switzerland. It's located in the very center of a small town close to the Black Forest featuring numerous wine makers and a few things from past times to visit. The hotel has been in the same family for generations and appears to be well run. My room was big with excellent bed and pillows but the decoration was not really to my taste. Also, I don't like taking my shower in a bath tub without anti-slip pattern and poor water run-off. A decently long shoehorn, so useful for older folks was missing. There is a spa section with a decently large pool where you can study the human walrus variants on their beds.
I had an early dinner the day of my arrival, chosen from a rather restricted and quite costly menu (it was Monday). However, the food was excellent and portions large. There is a good choice of local wines or beers to accompany your meal. Breakfast matches the star rating and includes delicious, local products that you normally do not find in four star hotels run by chains. So overall, a very good experience but room for improvements here and there...
