L&L Hawaiian Barbecue - Review - Smyrna - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"The L&L Hawaiian Barbecue chain is quickly expanding across the States, and now they're bringing their Spam musubis and dole whip to Smyrna. And we're excited about this, especially since there aren't a ton of Hawaiian restaurants in the city. This chain, which originated in Kalihi, has been serving Hawaiian staples like macaroni salad, garlic shrimp, and loco moco for more than fifty years. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Juli Horsford

I can’t express how glad I am to have an L & L in Ga , I have missed it so much since I moved from Hawaii, I was nervous the food wouldn’t be as good but it was amazing! I wish I lived closer !! Service and staff were excellent and very accommodating I came at lunch time on a Saturday with my son . He had the cheeseburger , and when we left he told me he really likes that place and he wished we lived there lol . He is 5 he has never commented before about how good his food was anywhere. I got the bbq mix plate so I could try it all and it was delicious. The Mac salad was done just right. Meat was great and not overcooked and chicken was awesome. Dole was excellent as well . Can’t wait to go again

Taste of Aloha in Smyrna! What a fantastic addition to the Smyrna food scene! We ordered the Spam musubi, chicken katsu, and ramen with BBQ chicken, and every bite was a hit. The BBQ chicken was especially tender and flavorful, and the Spam musubi instantly brought back memories of our trip to Hawaii. Even though I arrived just as the restaurant was about to close and the team had already started cleaning up, one of the kitchen staff saw me from afar, pulled out a chair, and kindly offered me a seat. Such a thoughtful gesturel. The owner was also incredibly welcoming and kind. And the best part? They have Dole Whip ice cream! I definitely need to come back with my husband and kiddos to try it,,we’re all going to love it. This place truly deserves more traffic. Let’s support local businesses serving up yummy, heartfelt food. Thank you for bringing the flavors of Hawaii to our neighborhood, I’ll definitely be back!

This location just recently opened and I have to say I’m hooked. The food tasted amazing and flavors went beyond my expectations. All the meats were cooked just perfectly. I’m a huge fan of Spam Musubi and I was pleased with what I had.

Unfortunately, for the price I paid, I felt compelled to eat most of it just to avoid wasting food. I regretted every bite until I finally gave up as soon as I saw the paper plate melted. From the beginning, the lady at the counter was unfriendly (she might be the owner in conjunction with another gentle man that was there too). When I asked a simple question about the side that came with my order, she looked at me like I was asking for a free meal. She really needs more patience, especially when dealing with first-time customers like myself (and now, last time too). The gentleman who seemed to work at the restaurant possibly the owner as well or manager was much more friendly and welcoming. I wish he had been the one to take my order instead. Now, let’s talk about the food. I ordered the garlic shrimp lighter option, and wow the grease level was out of control. I will never step foot in this chain restaurant again. It’s just not worth it, especially when considering your health. Also, you might want to consider letting the food cool down a bit before serving it, to avoid burning or melting the plastic plates. If you take a look at the upper left side, you can see that the paper plate has actually melted. This is concerning, as melted plastic can release harmful chemicals. It might not harm a one time customer but someone that comes here frequently, this is a concern. I truly dislike writing negative reviews, but unfortunately, my experience wasn’t the best. I also feel bad because one of the staff members, possibly the owner or one of the owners was actually really nice.

Oh yeah! They finally opened one on the northside! Don’t get me wrong I still like the Peachtree City Location, but this is a much easier drive, and the service and atmosphere is top notch as usual! The manager and his staff are excellent, and the short ribs and musubis were on point 👌 For those out of the know, this is one of the most popular authentic bbq chains in the Hawaiian islands themselves, so this is the real deal. Go here! I need more to open across the metro area!!!!!

I was too busy eating up this bbq chicken to take a proper photo for this review. Very clean location, friendly staff, and most importantly DELICIOUS food! The serving was big enough to have for 2 meals. Try the Hawaiian Sun drinks, all the flavors are good.

Katsu chicken is super tasty — perfectly crispy outside and moist inside. Rice is nice and fluffy, macaroni salad is solid. Customer experience is a little lacking. Seems like they could turn the AC on, turn some music on, and maybe work on making it a touch more inviting inside. Water was served luke warm with no ice, and sauces were forgotten but when we went back they were happy to give us some. Oddly, the full size Katsu order and the kids meal were the EXACT same size… not sure if that was a mistake or what. Overall a good addition to the neighborhood, and a great spot to get your fried chicken fix. Oh yeah, they don’t have dole whip yet, which seems strange. That’s a huge draw for Hawaiian BBQ joints and it’s already 85 degrees out.

Growing up on the islands it was such a huge surprise finding out that this place was open not too far from where we live in ga. Loved finding local kine grindz! I loved the flavors of everything I ordered! I ordered the Lau lau plater, not a lot of salt but shoyu fixed that (as it should be) I also ordered spam musubi no complaints.. Mahalo for everything! Definitely a must try place
