The Honest Insight

Google
Have been coming here since childhood. Many menu options. Many classics on the menu that I can remember. Also newer options. They even have a full bar. Kids menu available. Seemed to only have 1 server during our visit so we waited a bit before we could order. The hostess brought our drinks out.

I attended a surprise birthday party hosted by some long-time friends, and it was amazing! I love coming to this place because the service is always excellent. The food is served quickly and piping hot. They ensure that everyone who walks through the doors is treated like family. The combination of great service and delicious food makes it a standout. In my opinion, the Texas burger and fries are the best items on the menu. Their fries are among the best in the city! I am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended!

Google
Okay, so this is a legendary locals haunt in Charlotte that everyone has to eat at once. This place is famous; artists paint it and authors write about it. The service is the best every time; many waitresses have been there for years — so strike up a convo! From the dessert cooler to the Greek spaghetti to the Tom Turkey to the Chicken Livers to the Sirloin, you can’t go wrong. Pro Tips: Try the Italian Tour, Key Lime Pie, Grilled Flounder, and anything from their daily specials menu.

Google
Pictures are self-explanatory I've been here a few times over the years, they act nice at first but that's their distraction, when you ask them for butter and syrup and they tell you it's in the bag, ask for extra anyway and make them give you some I said I ordered online and they didn't hear me, when I showed them the order they acted like they heard me say I called it in Their quality has shifted down over the years no matter who has been manager

Google
Chill is the new fancy! Tired of being just a number at a fancy expensive restaurant? Just want to chillax and have a little home cooked type food that makes you think of your grandma? Just wanna laugh and talk and have the wait staff treat you like a human? And not break the bank? Landmark is the place for all that. We rolled out of bed and came in here for an amazing bacon cheese omelette and waffle situation. The drip coffee is calorie friendly. The food is exactly what I wanted before hitting the gym on a lazy weekend morning. The patrons ranged from couples to family to churchgoers to friends. Young and old and middle aged dined together in here. The wait staff, especially the precious adorable professional Ashley, were all on point. We will be back. Fo sho. Thank you Ashley for a pleasant dining experience and thank you Landmark. Check out my before and after food pics!

Google
Great food & service. Asked for a recommendation & was guided towards the pot pie which was really good.

Google
Excellent food! The freshest Reuben sandwich in the south! Service was unequalled! Our server Randy was the absolute best! He was knowledgeable friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back. Great food, great service, GREAT PRICE!!!

Google
Service was incredibly slow! Our server took care of two tables seated after us before we were able to even place a beverage order, or ask for water. I ordered 2 over-easy eggs with sausage, my companion ordered a Belgian waffle, nothing difficult, and it took almost an hour to get our food. No one checked on us, no one refilled our beverages or told us what the delay was. But the servers had plenty of time to chat with other tables-cause the food was taking so long! We were totally ignored and finally had to stop another server to inquire about our meals. Would give zero stars if that was an option. Not likely we will ever return 😕

Yelp
Very good food large portions very nice and good employees. Very reasonable prices.A good place for family and kids to gather or seniors..

Latonya P.

Yelp
GOOD PLAIN SIMPLE BUT DID I SAY GOOD FOOD! It's a diner folks and it lives up to its name superbly! HUGE portions and very tasty! Our waitress was delightful- answered our many questions, took good care with our special requests (like gravy on the side) checked on us often and gave all sorts of suggestions for zert!! The dessert choices are nearly endless and get this ALL made in house! Woohoo! They say (I opted out of dessert on todays visit) that the chocolate cake is to die for but there was pineapple coconut cake, cheesecake, baklava, apple or cherry pie and so on and so on! It's a fairly sizable place and they offer BREAKFAST all day long. Next time we're going for breakfast If you like good food fairly priced and casual dining this is your spot!

Nancy E.

Yelp
We are regulars here. Very disappointed on service. Service was slow for 8:30 with restaurant 1/4 full. Took server quite a while to refill drinks. Brought my pot roast over mashed potatoes. The gravy was so salty, I literally could not eat it. Brought it to my server's attention. She brought hostess over who "talked with the cook" . The server said he said it was fine. No offer to comp, no apology for it being inedible, and the server didn't even ask if I wanted something else. The hostess returned half way through the meal and finally said she would comp it. Good customer service would have comped it immediately and offered the menu. To tell me the cook made them all taste it and he said it's fine" is really bad customer service. I'm glad they finally comped it but I will think twice about returning. A shame.

Yelp
The Aesthetic: Casual, family-friendly diner with all day breakfast, comfort food, and an enticing dessert display. The waiter we had was phenomenal and funny. The Price: It's a massive amount of food for the price, I got brunch and dinner out of my meal. It's a great value! The Parking: There is plenty of parking at the back of the restaurant, we haven't had any trouble. My Order: The Northern omelette with corned beef and side of cheesy grits was insane. I couldn't believe the amount of grits surpassed the size of my omelet! I've also tried the pancakes, and they weren't my favorite, but I knew I had to give this place another shot. I wish I had room for the desserts every time, they look so good! One day. The Conclusion: This is a solid brunch spot in the city, and the value is great, don't sleep on this diner!

Diego T.

Yelp
Came for mother's day on Friday and left with an Eclair. Kept it refrigerated and ate a bite the next day until I turned it over and noticed mold growing on the side. I have 10+ years of experience in the baking industry and mold does not grow this quick unless it was already contaminated. I just hope I don't get sick from eating this, never coming here again.

Martha H.

Yelp
The food was very good. The service was outstanding and kudos to the waitress that took good care of 12 of us.

Scott Z.

Yelp
I received a salad with a huge black hair in it. the manager couldn't care less and was flippant about it. we then waited 1/2 hour for refills on drinks. the pasta was over cooked and gummy with an off taste but nothing was done about anything. we will not be going back.

April D.

Yelp
Every time we go the food is always fresh and amazing!! The service is always polite and happily to help and suggest new things on the menu that I haven't tried

Suzanne S.

Yelp
I've been to Landmark once years ago and decided to visit again after visiting a nearby thrift store. We went around 1pm for lunch and had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. This place is popular! Our waitress was so sweet and helpful, we enjoyed her so much. She brought out our food super quick too! The cornbread was so good! It is yellow and sweet and served with butter. It could be your dessert. I think it might have been my favorite part of the meal! The baked turkey and dressing was really good too, but it was made with that same sweet cornbread, so if you are expecting a typical Southern cornbread dressing, you may be disappointed. Gravy was very flavorful and the turkey was plentiful and baked perfectly. The fish and chips were good, but the fish was lacking a little seasoning. It was basic and a huge portion. My daughter reported the fries as being really good. The green beans and the fried squash were ok, but just ok. Nothing special. The green beans could have used some seasoning and the squash was cut too thick, but it was tasty. We'd heard that the desserts were the draw at Landmark, so we had to order them, even if we only took a bite and took the rest home. Turns out we really could have skipped them. They were both very bland and basic. I had baklava and my daughter had the eclair. We'd both had much better versions elsewhere. So why 4 stars? Portions are huge, food was good and the waitress was fantastic. Service matters.

Alex H.

Yelp
Heard so much about landmark diner. I finally was able to check it out. Food was amazing, staff is really friendly, and be ambience reminds me of the old school diners I used to go to growing up in Jersey. I would definitely be back! Leave room for dessert! Will have some next time!

Sheree P.

Yelp
I had the BLT and it stayed on the menu American cheese, didn't get it. The tomato's were hard and tasteless. I ask for chocolate cream pie for dessert, which was on the menu, they didn't have it. The waitress stated that they were super slow and sat us in her section. She forgot one of my friend's drinks and the other's cornbread. My friend both thought their food was very good. The portions are pretty generous.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Food was amazing, customer service top tier. Chris she was fun. Didn't have to ask for anything, she was on it. Ordered the fish sandwich and fries, everything was cooked perfectly. We will be back soon. Clean atmosphere dessert was delicious.

Andrea P.

Yelp
A huge menu with everything from omelettes to lasagna, the Landmark is a true Greek diner with the amazing dessert case and tons of dishes with feta and olives. My favorite dishes are the chicken souvlaki, Nicholas delight, chicken pesto pita, and the mushroom mozzarella omelette. The service is outstanding and the portions are huge!

Marisela L.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to going to Landmark as previous experiences were favorable. Unfortunately, the food quality has gone down the pipe. Not sure where they have gone wrong but it was very much telling with an almost empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. We received an appetizer with spoiled ham as depicted on the picture. The manager did not even attempt to approach and assure to make it right. The spring chicken was extremely dry, the salmon tasted extremely fishy and the fries were coated in what appeared to taste like overly used oil. I'm feeling nauseous as I'm leaving this review. I usually don't ever leave a bad review but I hope that the restaurant takes things seriously and improve on the quality of their food.

Karen N.

Yelp
Great food, great service and good prices. The desserts are phenomenal and there's a huge variety of all menus. You'd think they can't get all this food perfect, but they did! It's pure heavenly.

William R.

Yelp
Great service delicious food and close by. We very much enjoyed the food we had as take out. We knew it would be a hassle trying to take our Grandsons in for a disown dinner, so we opted for takeout and were so pleased at the menu and how fast they put a meal for 6 together. Where our family lives in Charlotte makes it very convenient to the Landmarks location. We will be back.... The dessert case was far too tempting not to be.

Chris S.

Yelp
Have been here many times over the years, but yesterday will be the last. The food quality was terrible...the Greek salad that came with the spanakopita dinner looked more like toppings for a burger (no olives, feta, or dressing), the "crab" stuffed mushrooms were just a pile of soggy breading on 3 tiny mushroom caps with no crab to be found, the salmon was bland, and they were out of 90% of their bottled beer offerings. Our server was nowhere to be found despite the restaurant being empty at 6:00 on a Saturday, and now I know why. When I brought this up at the register the response was "sorry about that" before charging me full price despite 2/3 of the food we ordered still sitting in the table uneaten. Unfortunately won't be back

Cristal C.

Yelp
I grab different types of plates , each time is delicious. The service is amazing too. Pretty much quiet during the week but The Weekend is always packed ( go during the week when it's empty ) . Worth coming back all the time

Zena T.

Yelp
First visit review. The atmosphere was cool and the staff were all very nice. I ordered the beef tips which came over a bed of rice with peppers, onions and mushrooms to which my plate didn't have any. I did not see or taste not one mushroom. Had to pay extra for a small bowl of gravy since it did not come with. The meat is a bit dry, tough and UNSEASONED. For my sides I ordered cabbage which also lacked seasoning but was cooked perfectly and home fries that were also cooked to perfection but also lacked any taste. The amount of food you get is plentiful but I would suggest taking some seasonings from home. The menu definitely has something for everyone and I will return to try another dish but best believe I'm taking my own seasonings.

Jane G.

Yelp
Parking can be difficult but that's because it is such a popular local spot with many regulars. The menu is varied, from breakfast to dinner. The prices are good and the quantity of food for the money is very good

Bennett S.

Yelp
Breakfast there is superb! Quick service and delicious corned beef hash, eggs, potatoes and French toast!

Evan G.

Yelp
An East Charlotte classic! An old school Greek diner with fast service and good food. We have been here a number of times and we always leave full and happy.

Yelp
On February 28th, at approximately 6:45 PM the very last day of Black History Month, me and a good friend of mine went to the Landmark Diner on Central Avenue to discuss Freedom Schools (and get in good trouble LOL). My friend Doris is the epitome of someone who cares and shows love for all people. She dedicates a good portion of her time at the Harvey Gantt Center volunteering and the rest of the time convincing us that we should come to the Gantt Center. She spends a great deal of time volunteering for Freedom Schools and commits her summers to work with our children and building into them. She had an issue with her pancakes and when she simply asked for them to be heated up or replaced and what ensued was a major shock to my system. The "Kitchen Manager" decided her pancakes were not cold and that he was not going to make her new pancakes and nor was he going to offer her something else to eat. In protest, I requested to speak to him and he refused to acknowledge Ms. Doris as a customer. I asked that he come out or we would not pay the bill. Rather than come out, he called the police on me, Ms. Doris, and Maiye. The police showed up and of course, I had to pay for a meal I didn't get to enjoy and the cashier even asked for a tip! Ms. Doris would like to see that they acknowledge their mistake and make things right. The level of arrogance of the management/ownership is a reflection of how they can treat customers like trash and folks will continue to eat there. We are hoping you will not let them get away with mistreating our people and namely our seniors who pour dollars into their establishment.

LongLive R.

Yelp
Came in for brunch around 2 in the afternoon with my friends and had a great time our serve Rachel was very attentive 2 of us got breakfast cause I've been wanting a waffle and my other friend got the chicken pasta special so good ! Everything was cooked to perfection will definitely be back

Xaver B.

Yelp
Service is bad and food is not that good either I had a burger and fries to go. Fries under cooked . Burger was not the best .

Heather A.

Yelp
We love this place so much! The three generations of ladies in the front of house make my day! Sweetest staff, yummy food. My teenager requests a pizza burger weekly and I'm all about that Greek platter!

April H.

Yelp
Meh. Not really sure what else to say because that pretty much sums it up. Service was slow and the tables were sticky and gross. I actually got syrup in my hair from the back of the booth. I had french toast and bacon. Hard to screw that up and they didn't but it was super average. I don't even cook but I could have made both the french toast and bacon at about the same level as what I was given. Again, not bad but not worth going out for.

Melissa L.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The food is great and abundant. The service is spot on. They were also featured on Diners, DriveIns and Dives. I think I'm going to move across the street from them.

Mandi C.

Yelp
First time here! We came for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Our order was quick and correct and incredibly delicious. Our server, Kelly, was friendly and prompt. Price point was perfect for the Charlotte market. No booze, but no big deal. Breakfast Menu wasn't expansive but from what I have found, less is more. We each had the garden omelette with ham/cheese added and egg whites with grits. Hubs had coffee and I had hot tea. Seated/served immediately around 8;30-9am on a Saturday morning. Definitely go here vs a 4 hour wait for breakfast or brunch like some CLT places

Jasmine B.

Yelp
I ordered the tuna cold plate. My family has been coming here since I was little. They have a variety of food and always comes in large portions. They make the best ranch dressing. Definitely worth going. Pictured is their tuna cold plate.

Melody J.

Yelp
We have been eating at the Landmark for years, and it has always been good. Until Saturday evening, January 14. Service wasn't bad, but we ordered medium rare burgers and they came out very well done. I asked for sautéed onions and mushrooms on mine, they came out on a separate plate a few minutes after the burgers. When he brought our check, server John apologized for under par service, saying he had a stuffed up head, but had tested negative for COVID. He was not wearing a mask. By Monday afternoon my husband and I both had head colds. At the very least, being ill, John should have been wearing a mask.

Rob D.

Yelp
I have read all the reviews, seen the Triple D episode, read the menu and my mouth was watering. We were finally close enough to grab some dinner and off we went. I am a big thanksgiving turkey fan, so you know what I got (Tom Turkey). My sides were green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. It makes sense, right. Food came out and holy cow the portions are HUGE. The turkey was drowning in gravy so much that you didn't really know where the turkey was. Additionally, the gravy was ehhh. However, the turkey had good flavor once you got through the gravy. The stuffing was ok but the green beans and mashed potatoes were really good. My wife had the beef tips and she enjoyed her food. Service was good. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad. Just really disappointed with the drenching of the turkey

Gordon L.

Yelp
We found this great place roughly 14 years ago. The staff are great and food portions are HUGE and good. Very reasonable prices too. We have taken family and friends from out of town and they love it and always want to go back when they visit. They are kid friendly too.

Britanny T.

Yelp
EVERYTHING was amazing!!! They have banana splits! Our server Jose was AMAZING! He was on top of everything!! ASK FOR JOSE!

D Z.

Yelp
Horrible Needed to ask for everything No Splenda No ketchup No butter No hot souce Nothing at the table so the waitress had to run every time back to the kitchen to get what should be at the table I order an omelet and the cooker just throw the onions in the with out cooking the onions Horrible experience Never again

D. T.

Yelp
Breaking up with Landmark finally. Food is old and stale. Their prices have continued to increase with diminished quality. All extra items like substitutions, salad dressings, butter, sour cream, syrup, etc. are counted and nickel and dimed to death. They continue to treat their customers and employees like trash. Non Greek employees are oppressed and harassed. Customers aren't valued and viewed as merely dollars. Look closely at the old, tired, dried up desserts. They can't even fry bacon or make southern grits properly. Really bad Mediterranean dishes. Yaya and Maw maw would be disappointed.

Alejandra R.

Yelp
I love the place, the food is amazing, and the staff is so nice and professional. Totally recommended. Been a customer since 2002.

David C.

Yelp
Wow! We were looking for a breakfast spot that had variety and quality. After searching for a long time, we found the Landmark Diner Restaurant. Our food was freshly prepared, not greasy, and flavorful to the point that we were reminded of what food used to be like when people ate because the food was good and not because it had fancy names, strange sauces, and small portions. We left on a dual high- fully satisfied and fully pleased. We will be back soon.

Effie B.

Yelp
Yes! Found a diner! After moving from New York, my family and I have been missing our old school neighborhood Greek diner. We ordered the Tour of Greece - moussaka, spanakopita and grape leaves. They didn't have the moussaka, I substituted 2 spanakopita instead. We also ordered the Pork Chops, Fried Filet of Flounder & Calabash Shrimp. Food was good with big portions. The service was quick and friendly. We came for Mother's Day and it was very crowded. They handled the wait so well! I was impressed!!

Christy W.

Yelp
The have some of the best corn beef. It is cooked on the grill and has the right amount of burnt crust to it. Would definitely recommend. Their key lime pie is good as well.

Haleigh G.

Yelp
Landmark is a great atmosphere-- like you've stepped out of the city, even though Uptown is just down the street! Always great service & comfortable atmosphere.

mark d.

Yelp
Always consistent excellent Southern style and Greek food! Large portions for a very reasonable price. Very friendly staff.

Linda R.

Yelp
I took my friend Sherry out to lunch here today. She wanted to try it. Shortly after we were seated by your lovely Hostess; our Server, Laura appeared. After introducing herself to us and taking the time to explain some of the menu items to us, he left to comeback with our drinks. She made some recommendations at our request and and then took our orders. She was pleasant, funny, welcoming and very customer service oriented. I'm from NY and very familiar with good service at a diner, we could not have had a more positive experience. PS. To be honest, we would come back just to see Laura even if the food was just MEH. Linda Russo

Lyn S.

Yelp
Typical diner type food, wide selection. Not a place where you would take someone to impress them. But if you want an above average meal for a reasonable price with friendly employees this is a good option.

Mia P.

Yelp
The food and service is the worst I ever had. The food is not seasoned and I saw three of the servers either have a terrible body order, a lady kept picking her skin and the order would a tremendous amount o dirt Uber each nail. Absolutely disgusting!!!

Kate T.

Yelp
This update is long overdue, since I have been back a few times in recent years. Although Landmark isn't what I believe a true Diner i"it definitely does fit in a diner category. Huge menu, amazing variety and large portions. My two most recent visits have been for pickup only and my orders have been all correct and they do not skimp on to go meals. The Tom Turkey dinner is my go to meal. Sliced turkey breast, stuffing, green beans and cranberry with mashed potatoes and gravy. Only down side, the gravy isn't my favorite but it does the job. Also, recommend asking for it on the side, unless you like you entire plate covered with it. Overall, it's worth a visit, especially if you want to say you hit a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives joint!

Jermaine C.

Yelp
Today Sunday July 31st at approximately 10am a colleague of mine and myself went to get breakfast at this restaurant. We have been frequent customers for the past couple years. The waitress we had today who was also training a new employee that was shadowing her started off with great service and we were even going to give a 20 dollar tip for a 22 bill because of that ,for her and the trainee to split. However the experience was ruined when she stated I quote " if you are not going to order anything else (after us sitting and talking for about 30mins after we ate our meal)you will need to leave because we have other people waiting. She was completely rude , unprofessional and shameless. We will never return to this restaurant and give our money.

Bea C.

Yelp
My local late-night go-to diner. The food is always plentiful and varies in quality, but it's a DINER, not a place that you expect phenomenal food. Except for Greek food- I expect good Greek food but don't always get it. I'm giving up on pistachio. It was awful the last 2 times, with the pasta base being so dry that I couldn't cut it with a knife much less a fork. Otherwise most dishes are just fine.

Bill W.

Yelp
Mixed Bag on both Food and Service My wife and I have been here once before years ago but in the mood for diner food so we decided to give it another try. Last time as I remember was very good. This time turned out to be a mixed bag, Some items were beyond the control and the restaurant, the other part well within their control. It's a popular restaurant and they share a parking lot in a small strip mall with other stores so parking is woefully inadequate. Say people not only double parking but in some cases, triple parking. Ended up dropping my wife off to get in line while I parked next door in the Darby Acres Shopping Center Parking lot and walking over. When I walked in, my wife told me there was a 20 minute wait which was OK. Seating for those waiting for a table or a take out order is limited so be prepared to wait. The 20 minutes turned out to be pretty close to actual and frankly I was expecting longer. We were seated at a small table on the other side of the divider from the counter which was OK. Small but still was able to put my crutches in a place where they were out of the way and did not impede other diners. Server was there shortly with menus and to take our beverage orders. My wife ordered just water and I went with 1/2 and 1/2 Sweeten Tea which was still too sweet. Hate to thing what regular sweet tea taste like. We had looked over the menu on line before we came so we pretty much knew what we were going to order. My wife order the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich which is one of her favorites. Came with Fries but for $.50 more you had the option of upgrading up to Onion Rings which she did. I ordered the Roast Tom Turkey over Dressing which came with a Salad and a Side. Tried to order a Baked Potato but that was not one of the listed sides so went with Potato Salad along with the Salad which I got with an Italian Dressing. The Salad came out shortly along with Bread which was pretty good. The Salad was good also but unfortunately I had to look at the aftermath through out the rest of my meal as demonstrated by the attached photos. After I was finished and when my main course was served, I asked if she would remove the dirty dishes and all I got was " in a minute". Asked again another time but in the end, I ended up looking at these dishes throughout our stay. Entrees in or themselves were good and portion were huge. My wife loved her Philly Cheese Steak and Onion Rings and because the portions were so large, ended up taking some home. My Tom Turkey was also good and ended up taking some home as well. Problem was the Mustard Salad which was suppose to be Potato Salad. Could not taste anything beyond the mustard and my lips were still burning 30 minutes after I left the restaurant. Mustard is suppose to be a subtle addition to Potato Salad and suppose to accent the dish. It's another thing to overwhelm the dish to the point that that is all you can taste and 30 minutes later, your lips are still burning. Final problem as on check out and I did not catch this but my wife did. The $.50 upgrade to Onion Rings had become $.75. Not a big thing but became a big thing for my wife after watching dirty dishes for 20 minutes while we ate lunch. Parking is beyond their control. Seating is within their control and they did a good job. The service including the implicit refusal to remove dirty dishes, inaccurate billing and inedible side dishes are well within the control of the restaurant. Some good points at the restaurant and a number of less than desirable so let's just put it this way, I've experience better and in may cases, a lot better.

Bryan S.

Yelp
Very disappointed twice in a row had poor service. First time a new waitress where everyone has a first day then today the waiter was good, but waited over an hour to bring out our food then said did not have what I had ordered when we sat down. Took another ~20mins to bring out what I then ordered. And when I told the cashier I was unhappy they said everyone knows you don't come to a restaurant between 5pm-7pm expecting good service. Been going to Landmark for years as a fav, but many other options where it will be awhile before I return.
