"Uptown Theatre, Uptown Powderhorn by Teagan White. One of the oldest theatres in the city, Uptown Theatre opened its doors in 1916 and is a Minneapolis landmark with its 60-foot vertical "UPTOWN" tower and balcony seating. Since the 80s the theatre has featured the best in independent and foreign films, as well as screening cult classics on weekends, including monthly showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show."

It was fun to step back in time a little bit to this classic old theater and see the Midnight Madness showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast production. Had a great time sharing this experience with my daughter! We enjoyed the audience participation piece as well as all the Improv and comedy ad-libs throughout their presentation... it was a phenomenally great time! I recommend trying it out to anyone - it is it well worth all the ANTICI - - - PATION!👄

This theater plays the best movies available. I love the assigned seating, and the love seats available. Very comfortable.

Beautiful old theatre experience! Very well maintained, old-school layout with an upper level, but the seating is updated and comfortable! There's a bar on the upper level! The concession prices are pretty decent overall (you can get a large popcorn & soda for $13 with free refills!). We went to go see a movie showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the crowd was really into it from start to finish. I would definitely go back to this location in the future.

First time here. Got 2 person mini sofa seating at front row balcony, nice. Comfortable. View good there, and was at a lower attendance show. Seemed far.from screen but was ok once movie started. Might have preferred main level to be closer but maybe not if crowded show.

This theatre is great! There is only one screen so many times there is only one screening a day, but they do a great job of offering films that cannot be found at other big theatres in the area. I like that they show old movies that I never had the chance to see on the big screen as well as documentaries, indie films, and the Oscar short films! They also have a great snack selection and a bar on the second floor so it is a great date night option!

Love the new faux-leather seats, they're super-comfortable, and way better than I expected after my last visit years ago. It's terrific that they can keep this institution alive and freshly updated while giving Uptown access to limited release art-house movies. I didn't try the bar, but it's a nice option to get an adult drink for the show.

This is a great theater boasting some classic sensibilities. First of all—they have a bar and couch seating on the balcony. But it’s not suburban-esque gimmicky, it’s just perfect. They also have beautifully remodeled the Art Deco interior. Finally, they play great movies, I’ve had some really special film going experiences here over the years. Do keep in mind that if there’s something you want to see films typically only stay at the Uptown for about a week before heading down the block to the Lagoon. Great cinema, I highly recommend! (And kudos to whoever does their marquee, always makes me laugh)
