A Tasting Tour of Oregon's Best Sparkling Wines

"Located on the riverbank of the Columbia River Gorge about an hour east of Portland, this producer occupies a sweet spot between natural and traditional winemaking, offering méthode champenoise brut, a sparkling rosé, and collaborative fruit-driven releases crafted by co-owners Melaney Schmidt and Malia Myers." - Hank Zona

How to Get Booze Delivered to Your Door in Portland | Eater Portland

"I saw Landmass Wines, focused on white and rosé and by winemaker Melaney Schmidt, is delivering directly to homes via Instagram or email at hello@landmasswines.com with no delivery charges, while asking central Portland customers to order at least two bottles and those outside (e.g., Beaverton or Gresham) to order at least three." - Seiji Nanbu

I discovered Landmass Wines during my visit to Portland last year, at the Downtown Portland Whole Foods market and they have become one of my favorite wines in PNW. I have been wanting to visit their winery which is located in the Columbia Gorge, but its a far trip for me so when I heard that they opened their tasting room in Portland downtown, I was so excited! Today I finally got to visit their beautiful and cozy tasting room located on Fremont st. in Portland. They have their winery-exclusive bottles as well as distribution wines, and a very reasonable tasting menu, with 4 Bubbles for $25 and mix of 6 varietals for $35, which is a must try if you're new to their wines. The service was top notch and they were so knowledgeable and could tell you everything from where the grapes are grown and how they're aged. I absolutely loved their 2023 Sparkling Chenin Blanc, which is made Prosecco style, which is mildly dry and great balance of fizz and crispness. They also have Gamay Noir which I highly recommend if you're into easy, light reds. Chardonnay is also so special, slightly tart and puckery, aged in both Stainless Steel and French Oak! I can go on and on... loved the service and wine, they have a Wine Club membership as well. Most wines are $30-$42 (some are $20s and even $84), moderately priced with excellent quality, highly worth it. Their famous Tempranillo Rosé and Heavy Glow which is a sparkling rosé at Whole Foods and they're some of their most popular bottles. I can't wait to come back.

The only reason I’m not rating the food, a five is because I didn’t eat anything there. But what they had to offer looked lovely, including some corn cookies. Where can I start? I was looking to treat myself with a wine tasting experience and coming across land mass was a highlight! I was thrilled to find out that they specialize in sparkling wines as I am a big fan and that my tasting flight was going to include six tastings. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, as was the space. It promoted plenty of conversation with other guests and everyone who was there was so kind. I went home with a bottle of the Jolene rosé (make sure to ask where the name came from !) and I am going to be spreading the word up here in Washington! Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to visit again

Finally made a stop into the new tasting room! Been a fan of the wines for a long while, and as someone in the industry here in the Columbia River Gorge, we have lots of great wine to choose from—these are definitely some of my fave! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the space is inviting and cozy..and I surely wasn't disappointed in my 'bubbles flight', so delish! Grab yourself snack plate and enjoy! This is going into my rotation when I visit Portland!

Was walking by and was surprised to see they were open! Just read about the tasting room opening this morning. We have loved their wine for a while and am so excited they are here! They officially open next weekend but we stumbled upon the “soft opening”. They have a wonderful patio, set back from the street. One of the owners built the furniture inside!!!! So impressed and will be back very soon!! HIGHLY recommend their wine!! They are the only American wine to boast all 4 types of bubbles! Will be my new fav hangout!! Cheers! 🍾🥂

I had a wonderful birthday celebration recently at the Landmass tasting room. We did a partial buy out for our party of 12 people. It was reasonably priced and absolutely perfect for a relaxing afternoon with friends. The space is beautiful and light, the wine is always outstanding and Crystal and Carlin took excellent care of us. Thank you team Landmass for a lovely experience!!

The wine, atmosphere, and service cannot be beat. The portions on the food options are pretty small even for today's standards but the quality is really good. Would happily return especially to try the cornbread cookies!

Super cute tasting room with indoor and outdoor seating. We didn’t try the food menu but the wines were great! We’ll be back for sure, this is such an excellent addition to the neighborhood.

This is a hidden gem with a great patio and a beautiful interior space as well. The owners are super friendly and well versed in explaining how they make their wine and what the flavor profiles are. We thought the chenin Blanc was a winner + they have some fun sparkling wines too that were very enjoyable.
