We stayed here for three nights, while our friends came up and stayed on property one of those nights. Langley Castle is a real castle dating back to the 1300s. While it was damaged in 1405, the stonework remained and it was lovingly restored to a home in the Victorian era. It is now run as a hotel and restaurant (and wedding venue).|The staff were all very welcoming and clearly care about the building, Eilidh in particular. Our room was quite comfortable and had a number of period features, including a huge stone fireplace and a full window bay.||If there was any slight negative, it was that the decor seems to be somewhat outdated. Striped wallpaper in our room looked more like a 1990s interpretation of a kid's castle-themed room. Framed prints were faded and old. The amazing drawing room had fake wrought-iron standing candelabras with fake flickering lights. The building itself is so historically impressive it doesn't need items like these. It would definitely shine with a refresh.||The food was good but the dining room process felt a bit like a corporate banquet operation rather than a true dining experience. We chose to eat in the more casual drawing room when possible.

My partner and I recently spent a lovely weekend at Langley Castle Hotel in Northumberland, and it was a delightful escape from our daily routine. The castle's setting was even more magical with the addition of snow, creating a winter wonderland. One of the standout aspects of our stay was the friendly and welcoming staff. From check-in to dining, they went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met, contributing to the overall warmth and charm of the castle. The staff allowed us to upgrade to a room within the Castle for £50( I think the walk to the Castle view in the rooms would have been treacherous late at night!) The food at the hotel was delicious, with a great variety of options to satisfy different tastes. My partridge starter was delicious ( if slightly cool), our venison main courses were superb and the desserts were nice , but nothing special. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to ensure the log burner is tended to more regularly, as it would have made the ambiance even cozier during the chilly winter weather. Despite this minor detail, our stay at Langley Castle Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable, and we will definitely return for another memorable experience. The combination of the castle's history, beautiful surroundings, and friendly service made for an enchanting getaway that we won't soon forget.

Stayed for two nights at daughter and son in laws wedding. The venue is a magical setting for a wedding especially at Christmastime. |A big thankyou to Aiden Mcguiness, the food and beverage manager who totally went above and beyond in his duties. Out of all the managers on duty during our stay, he was outstanding. We never had any communication with the wedding planner there, but Aiden organised the day and explained to us the details. He is a credit to the team and was outstanding. |Also a big thankyou to the staff in both the bar and restaurant. They were all helpful and friendly and the food was amazing throughout our stay.|And finally a thankyou to Eilidh who gave us an interesting tour of the castle. She was extremely knowledgeable.|We really enjoyed our stay and it was lovely to meet people who returned year after year. Hopefully we will return.

Christmas 2 day break. |Booked this last January after having spent a pleasant break away in the summer and had been looking forward to this so much. On booking, it stated cream tea on arrival. Unfortunately, I mistook this as afternoon tea! So was a bit disappointed I had got that wrong. (Maybe a bit clearer in the advertised event. ) Christmas Eve dinner was extremely tasty and set the tone for lunch the following day.|Lunch started at 12 to gather in drawing room. However, anyone with math skills can see we are not going to fit. At 12.30 we were informed our table was ready. The first course took a further 30 mins to arrive. And it was 3.30 when we finished dessert. At this point, I was uncomfortable having sat so long that we forgo the cheese and coffee courses. |On departure, I went to settle the bill to discover I'd been charged for the complimentary tea and coffee, a pint of Boddington and a bottle of wine. Not impressed, and then at breakfast, I get covered in juice as the waitress knocks it over. Leaving me with wet trousers. Poor lass she did apologise but I would have expected a little something. Especially after the bill fiasco. The hot and cold buffet i only saw cold. However, I was unsure how long it had been sat there, so gave it a miss.|Value for money. I don't think so. Different, yes. I've experienced it not to be repeated. |

This is our second stay at this remarkable venue. Brought our family this time as a last stop before jetting home to Australia. The rooms, the staff, and breakfast and dinner did not disappoint.....and just seeing the WOW on the faces of our family was reward enough for us. Thank you to James and his staff for their patience during the booking process......and we will definitely be back when the opportunity presents itself!

(Decided to do this review again, as Google Maps wasn't allowing me to attach any pictures, which was annoying!) Well, this place has certainly blown me away! It's been the first time, that I've ever stayed anywhere so exquisite! Driving up the driveway, you are greeted with this 14th century castle towering high above you, a standing testament to the history of what once was. It's like stepping back in time, as you walk through the door. I cannot fault any of the staff at all as their attentiveness, attention to detail and willingness to provide excellent customer service is stellar! Greeted with a smile upon arrival, and a very swift check-in. I was informed of breakfast times and when the daily tour took place (each day, weather permitting, at 10:15. They provide you with a slip of paper stating your room number, so that any purchases such as dinner and such, can be billed to your room number and then simply paid at checkout... Simple! The room I had, the Castle View, was wonderful! VERY clean and cosy with a comfortable bed, TV and a spacious bathroom (again, everything was super clean and to a high standard!) I even got a lovely view of the castle out of my window, and saw the resident peacock too upon arrival! There are spaces at the top where the castle is, midway for those in Castle view, and then at the bottom too. There are a number of places not far from here including Vindolanda, the Roman Army Museum and Hexham Abbey to name a few. So I had dinner the first night I was there, and wow! A very regal feel, with everything set out beautifully. I was handed the 'fine dining' menu at first, but asked the lady if the 'relaxed dining' one was available instead (don't be afraid to ask for it!) I waited in the Drawing Room, until I had ordered and was then shown downstairs to my table by a very pleasant and polite young lady. I had the Langley burger and honestly? It's one of the best I've had. All the flavours were a real taste sensation, and I loved the little glass pots of ketchup and mayonnaise (heinz, so only the best!) Presented wonderfully, as was my sticky toffee pudding! Everything was fresh, hot and tasted delicious! I loved the real lit candles too, really added a cosy atmosphere to the restaurant. Breakfast? Well, 'twas marvellous! The menu was extensive ranging from granola, cereals, pain au chocolat and fruit salad to name a few, along with tea, coffee etc and juices. For the hot breakfast, there was a selection including the Northumbrian breakfast, eggs benedict and others. I went for the Northumbrian breakfast and enjoyed every mouthful! The proper pork sausage was cooked well, as was the two slices of bacon. The scrambled eggs were wonderful and there was plenty of toast too! (also, heinz ketchup and brown sauce, along with a selection of jam and honey!) As I mentioned earlier, all the staff were incredible and their customer service was top notch, asked if everything was okay with the food and ensuring a grand service throughout! The lady who checked me out, was also extremely pleasant too and had a warm farewell from her, which was lovely! Thank you to all the staff at Langley Castle, for making the stay a most enjoyable one! And I'd thoroughly recommend anyone looking for a special to place to spend a night or two, give Langley Castle a go... You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
All the food here I ate was delicious. I would suggest you try the pheasant dinner. It was the highlight of our culinary experience.

Yelp
I stayed in a castle view room 12 years ago and a castle room just now. If you can afford splurge for the in castle room. The bed was so comfortable, the blackout curtains were perfect. The meals were perfection, the grounds were beautiful. The peacock was the only noise we heard through the thick castle walls. I wish they had warned us about the large group they were serving for breakfast at the same time as our chosen time, we would have selected a time before or after had we known, breakfast was a 25 minute delay from seating to getting drinks.

Yelp
Very happy that we stayed here three nights in the off-season (November, 2022). Great base for exploring the region and wonderful place to return to after a long, wet day. My wife loves a castle, and this one lived up to her standards. Other than enjoy the solid breakfast we did not dine on site but others around us did so and were quite satisfied. Staff were expert and responsive and the Castle is in excellent condition. Would stay here again if given the opportunity.

Yelp
What a great hotel, if you always dreamed to be in a castle this is the place to be, the rooms are huge (I forgot the name of my room) and the bathroom was modern but yet with the same structure that the Castle would offer. The attention to detail is amazing, the personnel is so friendly I forgot I was in a expensive hotel so they made my days enjoyable, always willing to help. The restaurant that they have in the back left me speechless, granted is expensive but you only live once. You can see peacocks walking around the premises. I recommend the tour that they have in the mornings because the views in the top are breathtaking. I would definitely come back again.
