Langley Castle Hotel

We had a bit of a mixed experience at Langley Castle. On the positive side, the Toll Bar Villa was fantastic and the facilities were excellent. Both rooms had great ensuites and were well-equipped with all the necessities like a fridge and dishwasher. The log fire was particularly brilliant and made the stay feel very cozy. The building itself is stunning and clearly has massive potential to be a top-tier destination. ​However, it feels like the hotel is trying to be something it currently isn't, as the service and food just didn't match the surroundings. Both breakfast and dinner were a letdown; we did get a discount on two meals after the over charge was rectified at reception the next morning, but the overall quality wasn't there. The staff generally seemed a bit miserable and the service felt clumsy. At breakfast, we had toast "slammed" down on the table even though we already had some, and they started clearing plates for two of us while the other two were still eating, which made us feel like we were being hurried out. Even the cleanliness was off, with a piece of bread and a jam lid left on the floor in the lounge area where you are taken to before the evening meal. ​To top it off, the Sunday morning tour was so bad it was actually funny. It felt like it was the staff member’s first time presenting and the concluding video was abysmal. It ended up being more of a comedy of errors than an informative tour. It’s a shame, because the accommodation itself is great, but the hospitality and dining really let the place down.

Had afternoon tea on my birthday and the whole experience was fabulous. Reception staff were very friendly making us feel welcome. The room where afternoon tea is served is tastefully decorated historically and very atmospheric. Aiden, one of the managers, settled us in and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The food is all prepared on site, everything was tasty and of good quality. The scones were the best we'd ever tasted. When we finished Aiden took us for a tour of the castle which included going onto the roof to look out from the ramparts which was a very much appreciated bonus. We will definitely be returning. A great experience from start to finish. As a footnote, please disregard that we couldn't rate the hotel guest rooms as did not have an overnight stay. All the publicly accessible rooms in the hotel were first rate.

Just got back from our second stay here. What a lovely place to escape for a break away. Keeps the character of a medieval castle whilst providing top service and home comforts. We had dealings with Aidan, Jenna, the nice lady behind reception and the assistant manager. All were extremely helpful and a credit to your castle. The food was delicious and I recommend taking in the daily tour. Also we love the peacocks.

The service was exemplary. The room was spacious. comfortable and well appointed. The room was equipped with tea, coffee and hot chocolate., along with small packets of biscuits. Water was provided in a class bottle daily, housekeeping kept everything neat and clean. We spent Christmas here and it was absolutely delightful.

We stayed for two nights on a Friday and Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The luxurious, pristine castle rooms were exceptional and made the experience truly special. The staff were incredibly friendly and consistently went the extra mile, which really stood out throughout our visit.||||The food was superb. Dinner, in particular, was outstanding; the dinner menu offered plenty of variety, was full of flavour, and provided excellent value for the price. We also tried the festive afternoon tea, which was absolutely amazing and beautifully presented.||||We joined the Christmas parties after our meal in the restaurant. The function room itself was wonderful, and the Christmas decorations and overall festive theme were stunning and thoughtfully done.||||An unforgettable stay from start to finish, we would highly recommend it and look forward to returning.

Without question, if you are looking for the very best service, venue, food, accommodation, location and history, this is THE place. There is nowhere else quite like it in the world. The team who run the castle are exceptional. I have stayed here several times and never once been disappointed with any aspect of my stays. If you value respect, calmness, luxury, and fine food served politely and with a smile, this is the place for you.

I had a special birthday last month and my husband paid several hundred pounds for a two night stay and arranged flowers for the room. We also booked a table in the restaurant for my birthday. Unfortunately, on the morning we were due to leave I became very unwell. My husband phoned to explain the situation and asked if we would be able to move the dates. The woman said we would and that she would phone us back to arrange. She did not. After many, many emails the best they could come up with was 25% off a future booking. I would have thought that they could at least have offered one nights accommodation as a gesture of goodwill. We will not be giving them another penny and have now cancelled the four night stay that we had booked for next year. Many years ago this happened with a luxury hotel who had the good grace to move our booking(despite their cancellation policy), knowing that this would generate repeat business from us. And it did. I am so disappointed with Langley Castle who are clearly only interested in money and not customer service or showing compassion.

Beautiful place, amazing service. Been going to Langley castle for over 11 years ( wedding anniversary). Got married here and love returning each and every year. Staff are always welcoming and we have a great time. On the expensive side but you get what you pay for.

All the food here I ate was delicious. I would suggest you try the pheasant dinner. It was the highlight of our culinary experience.

I stayed in a castle view room 12 years ago and a castle room just now. If you can afford splurge for the in castle room. The bed was so comfortable, the blackout curtains were perfect. The meals were perfection, the grounds were beautiful. The peacock was the only noise we heard through the thick castle walls. I wish they had warned us about the large group they were serving for breakfast at the same time as our chosen time, we would have selected a time before or after had we known, breakfast was a 25 minute delay from seating to getting drinks.

Very happy that we stayed here three nights in the off-season (November, 2022). Great base for exploring the region and wonderful place to return to after a long, wet day. My wife loves a castle, and this one lived up to her standards. Other than enjoy the solid breakfast we did not dine on site but others around us did so and were quite satisfied. Staff were expert and responsive and the Castle is in excellent condition. Would stay here again if given the opportunity.

What a great hotel, if you always dreamed to be in a castle this is the place to be, the rooms are huge (I forgot the name of my room) and the bathroom was modern but yet with the same structure that the Castle would offer. The attention to detail is amazing, the personnel is so friendly I forgot I was in a expensive hotel so they made my days enjoyable, always willing to help. The restaurant that they have in the back left me speechless, granted is expensive but you only live once. You can see peacocks walking around the premises. I recommend the tour that they have in the mornings because the views in the top are breathtaking. I would definitely come back again.
