Funny story: my fiancee and I could not find this place. As we were looking for it, we passed a traditional enoteca and said it looked like somewhere we'd both want to try. Lo and behold, that was where we were headed (if there is a sign for it, we completely missed it; use your GPS and the street numbers to find it).
The staff is extremely polite with excellent English skills. When a spot in an open doorway opened up, our server offered it, rather than leaving us in the darker corner. The view is to-do, but the fresh breeze was excellent.
The wine is at odds with the cozy feel, because it is definitely on the more sophisticated side. Their Riesling is closer to a fantastic Chard, and this is coming from someone who dislikes Chards. When I got a second glass, I asked for something similar. The server recommended a wine that equal fruit, but "more aroma." I so regret not getting the name - it tasted like candy fruit, but without any sweetness! I've never had anything like it. My fiancee stuck with beer, but loved the heavy coriander and orange notes on his cloudy blonde.
I've not even gotten to the best part: the food! The marinated sea bream, with thin slices of fish and thick shavings of orange peel, was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I would go back for that alone. And the dessert, which was a raw pineapple with passion fruit seeds, pureed cantaloupe, and dried coconut powder, was so simple, but wad light and delicious and a perfect end to the evening.
Three plates, dessert, water, bread, and three drinks came to 63 euros. Well worth the expense and the search, in my opinion.
