Nice ambiance with lot of plants. Feels very peaceful! Food is good. A bit on the expensive side but overall it was a pleasant experience.

Google
The food is great, and I liked most of the dishes we tried except the pineapple fried rice. It has too much soya sauce. Otherwise, the rest of the items are all good and meet our expectations. One of my favorite dishes was Tom Tum Soup here. Must try this dish. We will definitely visit next time to explore more dishes. Ratings CALAMARI - 4/5 GINGER FISH - 5/5 PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE - 3/5 POT STICKERS - 4/5

We ordered yellow curry, tom yum , tofu and pad thai. I like the tofu the most. Tom yum is very good too! Worth the try ❤️

Google
Very welcoming place with the food and ambiance. Loved the spices they used in the dishes. Their use of greenery inside brings out a healthy feeling in your soul as you enjoy the great food.

To start with we love thai food. Spices and flavor pretty similar to what we have in kerala, India. I drove 20 miles to get this food to go. Not worth it. Did not taste fresh and also not the rite flavor. None of the dishes were of my liking. On top of this extremely pricey. Around $25 per dish. Ambience is decent. The location is also good

Went for lunch to this place on our way back from brentwood. Good atmosphere & service were super quick. Loved the plant set up & other decors. Tried springs rolls, roti & Mussamun curry. Loved the roti. It was my first time trying it. Curry was good as well. All ingredients are listed on the menu so if you add to more veggies be specific. Our friends tried basil fried rice, which they loved with hot spice level. They were a little disappointed visually by Chowmein, but the flavor was good as per them. Overall, I loved it. I will definitely recommend it if you are in the area & looking for thai food

Google
Tried for lunch. Great food. Had the Crispy Spring Rolls (which were perfect) and the Red Hot Green Beans with Chicken. They ask you what level of spice you want. I'm typically a 'lots of spice' but cautioned on the side of medium. Probably could have done hot since I ended up adding their chili oil to it. Was so good that I ordered the same (but with Shrimp) to go for my wife. She also loved it!

Google
Simply the best Thai food in America, maybe even in Thailand. I've been all over the world, tried Thai everywhere, and this place is simply incredible. Give them a shot. Try any dish; you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I love this place over all Thai restaurants in the area. We tried their new restaurant next door for Hot Pot It was fabulous!

Mark M.

Yelp
This place is always good except tonight with our door dash delivery . We received the delivery at the incorrect location, our neighbors apt next door , luck we caught it! The pad Thai we added chicken and it was dry and tasteless. Really surprised!

Yelp
So far, This is the best Thai food in the Tri Valley! Everything tasted so fresh like right out of Mae's kitchen! The prices seem right in line with the quality of the food, however, the portions are smaller than the usual Thai restaurants in the surrounding area; therefore, if you have several people in your party and want to share dishes, you may need to order more, meaning a higher bill. Having said that, I would frequent this restaurant more often; however, because I usually entertain with several guests, it's a little high for my budget since I would need to order more menu items or multiples of the same items. I hope the restaurant reads this review and takes my thoughts under consideration, because I have read that others have the same concerns. Perhaps the restaurant could increase their portion sizes. That would be a WIN WIN!! P.S. The services was outstanding the evening we came in, and it was just before they closed! They never made our party feel rushed, but were extremely welcoming and showed great appreciation for us patronage.

Yelp
We were in Livermore briefly and wanted to stop nearby for some Thai food. Lanna Thai was a good choice - conveniently located and great customer service. I will say the size of the dishes were smaller than expected considering the price. We ordered the roti appetizer, tom yum soup, pad see ew and basil fried rice. The flavor of each of the dishes were alright and the tom yum was spicier than expected. Possibly worth visiting if you're in the area

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night, plenty of parking and plenty of tables. Menu selections are great, tried Pok Pok Shrimps, Grandma pork belly, and Betong chicken. Food is delicious, but it's quite pricy - more expensive than restaurants in Downtown Livermore. Service is fine, but no one refills water for us. Decor is nice. P.S. They offer desserts from next door restaurant - Honey Bee Sweets Cafe, not sure if it's the same owner or a partnership.

Brittney P.

Yelp
Delicious food, super cute atmosphere, and helpful staff. The coconut soup was amazing as well as the ink noods.

Christina A.

Yelp
Wow! Where do I begin??? Delicious food, stellar customer service, decorative exceptionally clean, welcoming vibes plus pricing is fair. Top notch restaurant, why look further for a good Thai restaurant? 10+ Starz, I highly recommend this spot!

M. J.

Yelp
Lana Thai has been there for about 10 years. Eaten there 4 times, 2 times in last 4 months. It's always clean and the service is excellent. Pad Thai has been my standby favorite order but tonight discovered my new favorite!: Pre Ram, with chicken. Accompanying Peanut sauce was delicately delicious! Dining companions are vegan. They loved the eggplant dish. We all enjoyed the spring rolls

Eme E.

Yelp
The dining decor was beautiful since they remodeled years ago. The food still great through passing by had to do a phone order and he was great taking my order. Love the pumpkin curry here and the basil fried rice. The rice this time was slightly hard for my liking but flavor was still there. The dinner prices seem pretty high $52 for two things is crazy! The curry tasted great you should definitely try it I also am a huge fan of the spicy rotti chicken. And I notice they expanded have another business next door which is the dessert side called honey bee but would love to come to enjoy the shaved ice the mango sweet rice too.

Pam D.

Yelp
Out of town friends wanted some Thai Food. Lanna Thai is my favorite so that's were we went. I loved the Mango Salad and Chicken Satay that I ordered. The mango salad was wonderful fresh and so tasty. The satay had four large skewers with peanut sauce. After I had my fill I had plenty to take home to enjoy for another meal. My friends both ordered the Pad Thai and green tea and really enjoyed their lunch. The restaurant has an undated look with lots of blond wood and live plants. The service was excellent!

Steph C.

Yelp
Thai food cravings will be satisfied, I promise! It's a shame that I have driven past this place time and time again without actually bringing myself to peek in and read a menu. If I had, I would have been more than pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor, deep aroma of savory food and an epic ceiling mounted light/plant centerpiece. Get the chicken pumpkin curry. It's been over a month since my visit and I crave it each time I drive past. There are several spicy levels to choose from and I got medium but barely felt the burn so I'll try it hotter next to round. Note, you have to order rice on the side. The service was friendly, fast, attentive and thoughtful towards kids. Definitely a family friendly, kid friendly environment. Clean bathroom, check!

Belen L.

Yelp
First of all, the soup they give you in the beginning deserves 6 stars , it was so fire . Overall the food was super good but that pok pok stole the show . The Pad see ew was okay . The noodles were a tad bit overcooked but it was still good . Service was great and the place was beautiful!

Bob K.

Yelp
Lanna Thai was a consensus among my friends as the best Thai place in Livermore, but have things slipped? Firstly, the wife has Thai basil stir fry with tofu, and it was pretty good. Previously she's had the Pad See Ew here, and found it a bit sweet. We also ordered the samosas, and liked them very much. The pastry was quite flaky and seemed fresh, well done. My large bowl of Tom Yum soup with veggies was very disappointing. There were chunk and thick slices of something - bamboo? that my teeth could gnaw through. The overall flavor was one dimensional, and not that interesting. When I showed them the 10% Yelp check-in coupon, they said that they didn't accept Yelp deals. Except, these aren't Yelp deals, these are discounts that the restaurant has arranged through Yelp! I suggest that someone at Lanna Thai contact Yelp and rescind the discount, since they had to be the ones who created it in the first place. I didn't say anything about the soup, but I'm always curious when I leave 80% of my dish behind, if someone asks me if there was a problem, but no one did. Oh well. The downtown Livermore places are closer anyway.

Pearl F.

Yelp
The interior decor is very relaxing, lots of greeneries because of the hanging plants. The food portion is very small, compared to other Thai resto we've been to. My fave was the pok pok shrimp with fried rice, shrimp is fresh and plump. The eggplant curry serving was sooo little also is the pad thai. My friend ordered the beef noodle soup and was flavorful. Sticky rice is so yummy but the mango they used was a little bit sour.

Dexter D.

Yelp
We dropped in for a quick lunch. There was only one other table in use when we walked in. We were seated, menus presented, followed by a bowl of soup and glass of ice water. We each ordered an entree and a drink. She got a Thai Vermicelli Bowl with Pork and a Lemonade. I got an order of Pad Kee Mao with Chicken and a Thai Ice Coffee. A man, who we presumed was the chef, served us our food. He also checked back with us to make sure everything was okay. Everything was okay. I had ordered my Pad Kee Mao Mild and it had zero heat. I'll take the blame for that because I should have made sure that mild was mild and not zero heat. In fact, there was more sweet than heat. Service was decent. Next time, we'll remember also to ask if we can order off the dinner menu (it used to have more items).

Vanessa D.

Yelp
I loved the food here. Everything was fresh and flavorful. My server was very helpful answering all of my questions. The ambiance was beautiful, peaceful and cozy. Good first experience here.

Jim L.

Yelp
Good service, clean restaurant, yummy food. Seats for 60 and bar for 5. Worth the pork belly.

Dawn D.

Yelp
We have been ordering take out from this restaurant for many years. Recently we have noticed portions have gotten MUCH smaller and more expensive. The eggplant curry with crispy tofu is one of our regular items and the tub it normally comes in is smaller and there is less "goodies" inside making it basically a tub of curry soup. The chicken pad Thai barely has any actual chicken- they stuff the container with just noodles now. On top of that they changed the crispy spring rolls to a different style that basically- sucks. So for the price I expect more protein included and not just the fluff. We will be rethinking ordering from them in the future. The prices aren't worth it.

Larry J.

Yelp
Super mediocre food. I would not categorize it as Thai at all. They may get the ingredients correct, but the ways to cook it is completely wrong. Way overpriced as well. Pad Thai for $22? Must be kidding me.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
My husband and I have such a love/hate relationship with Lanna Thai. We really love their food when it's consistent, but the consistency just hasn't been there the last many times we've visited or ordered to-go. We both really love spicy food; my husband can handle a little more than I would prefer. Sometimes we'll order the medium spicy and it tastes more like not spicy or mild. Other times, it's burn your tastebuds off hot. Other times he can order the Thai spicy and it tastes like medium spicy. This makes it really hard to order because I definitely want some spice, but not so much that all I taste is heat and not flavor. Another big miss that we've been noticing is the staff. There is one gentleman who works there that seems absolutely miserable and like he hates everything about his job every single time we're there. Once, there was a large party with a few kids. We all know kids make messes, and this is especially so when things like rice are ordered. They left and he came to clean their table about fifteen minutes later (which seemed a long time as they were not busy). He literally rolled his eyes and sighed outloud at the mess on the floor. He also never, ever smiles or seems like he has even a half an ounce of a desire to be there. He really just mopes around and I'll be honest this is one of the main reasons we no longer go there. If you're going to be away from downtown, you have to have something to draw people in and with the inconsistent food and miserable staff, that's just not there. This is really a big disappointment for us, too, because they used to be the best Thai in town based on food and flavor. I think it still could be if they could find a way to provide consistency in spice and have a staff who's passionate about what they're offering.

Adriana D.

Yelp
Beautiful and delicious! I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures, but it was amazing and super close to the SF outlet mall. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with tons of space.

Kristina M.

Yelp
This was my first time to Lanna Thai . My companion, who is vegetarian, and I shared the Tom Kha Soup with vegetables and the pineapple fried rice with tofu. The soup was delicious. The rice was excellent sans the tofu. fYI: I'm not a tofu fan. I only got that because of my friend. I would try it again with chicken. Sadly, we dive right into the food and didn't get any photos. However, as you can see, the interior is quite charming and airy. I'll definitely return and try some additional dishes.

Manisha M.

Yelp
I would give this place 6 stars if I could!! Everything we ordered was a hit! We started with an appetizer that we saw as we were ordering. We almost missed it because it wasn't in the same area on the menu as their other appetizers. We got the Spicy Dumpling. This was apparently featured on the showed "Chopped" and it was AMAZING. I guess as a flaming hot Cheeto fan, I was bound to love it, but I highly recommend. It even came with this spicy "salsa" that I wish we had more of on the plate. We also ordered Pad Kee Mao, Basil Fried Rice and Salmon Pesto Noodle. We started the meal on a high note with the Dumplings. I didn't think these dishes could surpass it, but they did. Everything was so delicious. The Salmon Pesto Noodle was especially good!! I had never tried a dish like that before and I think it was my favorite of the main courses. The restaurant is well suited for smaller groups and have a nice option for a large group of people. The service was quick, and we enjoyed the quick chat with the Chef who came out now and then to chat with the customers. I honestly cannot wait to come back here.

Colin R.

Yelp
Was driving around the area and it was getting late for lunch so decided to try this as it was close by. Easy parking right out front and the decor was very charming and welcoming. Lots of nice Thai street food dishes on the menu which is always exciting to us. But the prices, wow! The menu pics on Yelp are only a year old but the current prices are much higher. And this isn't downtown SF or something where rents are sky high. So that was a bit of a shock. Anyway we got the pad kee mao and the house special noodle. Both were good and portions were quite large. But $20 and $21 for Thai street food at a regular Thai restaurant is still quite up there. Welcome 2023!

Esha D.

Yelp
I may not be the most qualified to give this review, as Thai food is not something I go for in the US. I'm sure this place could be good for some folks, but it's not for me. The food is very Americanized Thai food. Things that need not be sweet are overly so. Dishes claiming to be spicy are not. The space itself is lovely. The ambiance is nice. The staff are friendly.

Pinot N.

Yelp
Awful! We ordered just the Tom Yum soup to go and it tasted so bad. Also they put it in the to go plastic container at such a high temperature it actually warped the lid. See picture. I cannot even imagine the chemicals from the container in the soup! We threw it out after one taste. Initially we were also going to order a noodle dish but we changed our mind as we recalled the last time we ordered it was a greasy mess. We told the guy at the bar taking our order and he could have cared less. We wanted to give this restaurant another chance but NO MORE!

John K.

Yelp
$100.54 for four take-out items? Never again. You guys have lost me forever. It's way too much. And they looked at me dumbfounded when I didn't add a tip when I drove down to pick it up. smh. Buh-bye.

Allen S.

Yelp
Lanna Thai is a great find for us. I spent a few weeks consulting in Thailand. I came home with a fond love of the people and music of Bangkok. I recently found out that Kimberly, the chef owner, grew up in Thailand. Kim credits her success to her mom and family. Sf Eater published Kim's story and how she ended up on Food Network Chopped. After seeing her on Chopped we visited her restaurant. Ironically the episode was called Flamin' hot. We ordered all dishes mild. Lanna's menu asks you to specify spiciness that starts with mild and increases from there. They will gladly give you spice if you ask. We tried many items and like the flavors. Kim has a curry paste that is made from scratch using a family recipe. We even got to try one of the Chopped appetizers with the spiciness turned way-way down. When you are in the mood for Thai we strongly recommend you give Lanna a try.

Karen D.

Yelp
Love the food! Service is quick and competent. Ambiance is pleasant. I love the basil fried rice with chicken my friends enjoy the currys. They always ask how hot you want your food so, you can customize to your taste and tolerance.

Kristine M.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! And the ambiance is super cute. My husband and I, our new favorite Thai restaurant in the area! We had the Tom kha soup, green curry/sticky rice and pad see ew. Our server Derek was soooo great, polite and attentive to our dining needs. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Simran S.

Yelp
Thai food is my favorite cuisine and this restaurant is definitely one of my go to places after Thai spice in Oakland park Florida. I usually stick to pad see Ew since most places can't go wrong with this dish. However, I took the risk and tried the pad thai and panang curry and had no regrets. If you are in the area you definitely have to try this place!

Sooky T.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! The food is delicious, the ambience is lovely, and the service is excellent. If this place was downtown, you wouldn't be able to get in. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice Thai meal in a beautiful environment.

Aryan S.

Yelp
Excellent food, relatively fast service, and a warm and cozy setting. We ordered curries and spicy roti, which were great. I'd especially recommend the crab rangoons.

Mary T.

Yelp
First Thai tea is bombbbbbbb. But besides that everything else was alright. Pad thai and Pad See Ew didn't give the blast of flavors it usually gives. Champa Garden in oakland is wayyyy better. But besides that for what it is in Livermore it's not bad. Inside is super pretty and aesthetic and the servers were very kind. Super quick service.

Tuan P.

Yelp
Came for lunch at the Metang Noodle, shepherded to Lanna Thai which shares a wall and a kitchen apparently. Well appointed dining room, clean bathrooms. Service was spot on. Starters ======= Roti - hita all the chewy, crispy notes and great curry dipping sauce tells me to order curry here one day. - fun to find this on the menu, not often served in Thai places but for sure in a Malaysian / Singaporean joint. Noodle soup =========== Curry noodle - thick broth, ordered mild and had a nice simmering heat. - could use more veggies - homemade noodles are really yummy - ordered twice now Moo daeng - homey dish but nothing to write home about, prob wouldn't order again as they have so many other yummy options Wok tossed noodles ================= Metang street fav - very yummy and mnp devoured these thick chewy noodles - easy light sauce and crisp veggies - 4 prawns total Thang tek - pad Thai with their homemade noodles -delicious twist on a classic favorite Green green kuawtiek - no longer offered so sad

Rimmi S.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to eat here for my birthday dinner, and we came here relatively late. Yet, we were greeted with big smiles, and we're seated right away. My friends and I decided to order mostly everything off the menu and we shared everything, and there was not a single item that we all did not like. From the drink, to the appetizers to the main dishes the plates were cleaned. We were eating until we all had to open our zips of our pants because we could not breath. I highly recommend you guys to come to this place. We finished around 8, (their closing time) and asked if we could quickly cut cake, and they were kind enough to let us! They even offered us plates, knifes and etc. I was extremely satisfied with their service and food. The foods that my friends and I loved the most were the 1. Southern Thai Curry 2. Lanna Fried Thai Rice 3. Pad Thai

Isabella A.

Yelp
I am not sure about all these negative reviews. I actually order from here quite often via DoorDash or Pick Up. Every single time I have ordered food from Lanna Thai it is DELICIOUS they have so much stuff on the menu and anytime I try something new I am never disappointed. It is consistently fresh and tasty. My favorites are the yellow curry with prawns, their basil fried rice, hot and spicy chicken, and the pepper garlic beef. Every time I have picked up from here they're all so nice and welcoming and am actually planning doing my first dine in experience today!

Daniel C.

Yelp
Review is for solo indoor lunch: My car was getting serviced at the Audi Dealership so I had some time to look for local lunch options. Arroyo Plaza was an easy walk and had several options, including an In & Out. I haven't had Thai in a while so I decided on Lanna Thai. Note that the restaurant next to Lanna Thai called Me Tong Noodles is actually NOT a restaurant. It's actually an extension of Lanna Thai despite seeming to have a different address number and menu. Anyhoo, Lanna Thai is gorgeous restaurant with hanging gardens and a very relaxed vibe with the main waiter/manager wearing a Hawaiian shirt. I ordered the Metang Street Fav Noodles with pork, medium spicy. These are wok-tossed, chewy noodles with sauce evenly distributed. The dish was definitely hot, both temperature-wise and in terms of spiciness from all those Thai chilis. Medium was still pretty spicy fir my taste. Flavors and aromas were great, and my lips were still tingling on the walk back to the dealership (4 stars). Good thing I got a Thai Iced Coffee (4 stars) to cool things down a bit and neutralize the spiciness with some sweet, otherwise I'd really be breathing fire. Service was attentive and I really enjoyed the free, Tom Yung-style tofu soup. Those lemongrass and galangal flavors really help give that sweet-sour-spicy punch characteristic if Thai cuisine.

Lenly A.

Yelp
Been here several times over the years with friends and family. They always serve quality and delish food here. I always enjoy the ambience and clean place they have. They also serve fast.

angela d.

Yelp
I ordered the spring rolls only and it was probably the worst spring rolls I've had. It was mainly all noodles in it with no flavor. I didn't even finish eating it.

Sarah B.

Yelp
The food is edible but for the price? GTFO! I've been here a few times for lunch during the week and went on a Saturday night. During the week for lunch it's busy, but we were one of two couples in this restaurant on a Saturday night. With that being said you would think your service would be immaculate. But when I tell you I had to make eye contact with my waiter and he STILL did not come to our table, I'm not kidding! The greeting was non-existent and the service was less than...at 7pm...on a Saturday. But let me get into the food. The Lanna Thai platter comes with crab rangoon, chicken satay, and potstickers. Easy money... the rangoons were yummy, the chicken satay was undercooked (yikes) and under marinated, and the potstickers were just satisfactory. The pad Thai is too sweet, but the panang curry was awesome. You have to order a side of rice, which isn't right to me. I'm am completely shocked at the prices though. It was 24.95 for the panang curry and a side of rice. I've paid $10 for better at other places. This really bummed me out because the restaurant has a cool vibe with lots of plants and colors. Plenty of seating. And I've had better experiences here previously. But for the price we paid, it was not worth coming back.

Sharon V.

Yelp
The food was so good. And the service was excellent. We came for my grandsons birthday & they even brought us out a dessert & wished him happy birthday. They had many vegan options so we were happy!

Jamie V.

Yelp
I recently had Garlic beef at another local Thai restaurant, and it was delicious. I was excited to try Lanna's. They brought out a plate of gray meat that looked disgusting and tasted worse. It was gristly and had zero flavor. Never again!! Yuck!

Laura Z.

Yelp
Just okay. Had lunch here today and ordered spicy dumplings (features on Chopped) and the spicy roti. The Roti was very thin and didn't have the texture I am used to. Dumplings didn't have any texture to them. Tables were also very sticky. I much prefer Ros ni yom or tin Thai for Thai in Livermore!

Shannon S.

Yelp
My most favorite Thai restaurant ever!!! I moved an hour away and still come out here to get it. My absolute favorite is the mussaman peanut curry dish. No other Thai place has anything like it!!! I also love their Tom kha soup, mango salad and spicy roti!!

Shirleen B.

Yelp
Dropped off my car at the local tire shop and decided to walk to Jack-in-the box. If you're not paying attention you could miss this place. Lucky for me I saw it and had a late lunch/early dinner with my 6 yr old. I couldn't decide what to eat first and went for these 3 dishes. The roti (my son loved this and the sauce), the crispy fried tofu, and the chicken fried rice plate (kiddo loved this too). They do have other choices for kids meal but my son wasn't in the mood for those at the time. Overall great experience for something spontaneous.

Rita P.

Yelp
Mango salad! Casual ambience. Quiet. Great local Thai food in an unlikely locale. My salad was perfect. Will return.

L C.

Yelp
Pricey but worth it! This is the best Thai food I've tried and trust me I've tried several. Give this place a go, just be sure your wallet is ready

Joy B.

Yelp
Hubby wanted to take me to lunch try something new was a lil skeptical. We walk in nobody to help us almost said let's go. Only one lady taking order didn't even acknowledge us. We decided to seat ourselves then she comes with menus. So we ordered the appetizer platter which was chicken satay. Crab Rangoon. And potstickers, the pad see Mao. Yellow chicken curry. And grilled pork. Everything was $20 or more each item. The chicken on platter was bland and chewy weird texture did not want, the other 3 were alright. The pad see Mao had a weird spice in it and the beef was so grossly and tough not enough soy did not eat. My grilled pork was cut in pieces and came with small bowl rice and even smaller bowl of chopped cucumber and red onion. Pork was tasty but for 24.95 man? Husband enjoyed his curry was tasty not really medium spice though, all mild. Yea won't go back disappointed to waste money and not so good food. If you charging that much make sure there's love and flavor in there.
