Great little restaurant with lovely decor. They have a large screen TV that was playing a cooking show which is fun too. The food was tasty. I got a Vietnamese sandwich and it was great. My husband got the vermicelli with crispy rolls which he enjoyed. Good serving sizes and value. Service was attentive. It looks like they do a lot of take out too.

Google
The atmosphere is pleasant, the vivid colors throughout are relaxing and put a smile on my face. The staff were so very polite and attentive 👍 Flavorful BahnMi sandwiches w/ proper bread texture. The fried items were not greasy, mild but flavorful like food, not over battered pre-frozen goods. The fresh veggies were all spot on. Overall well worth the visit and added to my list of places to stop at when in the local area.

Tasty Pho and Vermicelli Soup. Lemon grass chicken was mediocre; no lemon grass aroma. Friendly service. Beautiful artsy ambiance. The colorful lanterns resembling idyllic city of Hoi An.

This restaurant has easily become my new favorite Pho restaurant in the area! First, I'm in love with the interior and the efforts are top quality; so unique, chic, and welcoming! My boyfriend and I came here on our date night and we literally had the whole place to ourselves, but not for long. The staff were very welcoming and our food arrived so fast. I ordered the brisket pho while my boyfriend got the vegetarian pho and both were excellent; especially the crispy rolls! This place really knows how to create a vibe and I can't wait to return!

Google
After reading positive reviews about this restaurant, we decided to try it, and the overall experience was okay. Once we entered the premises, we noticed interesting design elements filled the place: artificial flowers on the ceiling and a massive microphone on the side, as well as artificial cherry blossoms covering a side wall with colorful Vietnamese lanterns and that was something that we didn't experience at any other places. Food, in general, was okay, but not the best or most flavorful with qualities. Service was decent overall, but we are unlikely to revisit this restaurant.

Got crispy rolls, fresh rolls, pho, vermicelli with grilled beef. Tried iced coffee. Food was just ok. Definitely on the pricey side. I guess because of the decor and ambience (nice). Bill for two was over $70. For this kind of dining experience the price tag is too high.

Google
I ordered delivery so I can’t speak to the atmosphere, but my overall experience was excellent. I got the veggie pho with veggie broth and WOW it is possibly the best veggie pho I have ever had! Super flavorful and a generous portion size. Even the veggies by themselves had a ton of flavor. My boyfriend got the lemongrass chicken with chilis and also really enjoyed it. I will definitely order from here again!

I took some of my kids here while they were visiting. Great food and great service. It's in a non-descript strip mall type building but there's adequate parking and the food is great so worth going to. The setting is very casual and relaxing; not set up for fancy meals. We've gone a few times now and have never been disappointed. This last trip included several types of pho (mmmm), grilled pork bahn mi, spiocy ginger chicken, vietnamese omelette, and grilled pork summer rolls for appetizers. All were delish. This is an out-of-the-way place with great food. My wife, son, and I tried this because another restaurant was packed. We ended up loving the food and glad we tried it. It’s a very casual, cafe style restaurant but I’m about the food. Free parking is available which is a nice perk. I had a delicious sizzling clay pot with beef. My wife had the Vietnamese crepe, which was huge and I didn’t think she could finish. And son the grilled lemongrass pork chop. All prefaced by delicious fresh spring rolls.

Yelp
Ordered the Lantern House Fried Rice. It was amazing. Friendly staff and great atmosphere

Yelp
Vibe: 7.25/10 - really fun decor! Service: 6.25/10 Value: 5.5/10 Grilled pork banh mi: 7/10 Pho: 7/10 Overall: 6.6/10 (3.3/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]

Yelp
The banh xeo was amazing! Lots of pickles veggies, so many herbs, the crepe was full of so much delicious meat and bean sprouts.

Yelp
I saw this place had high reviews and am always open to trying more pho places to see if any ever beat pho 75! The lanterns are pretty inside and I like the theme. Although the meal was not bad I do feel they made the dishes to cater to more western customers than traditional. Fresh squeezed lemonade - 4/5 actually very good. Love the sweet and sour Fresh rolls - 2.5/5 packed a little too full of veggies and noodles, would've preferred it to be skinnier and more balanced. The fillings were fine but nothing special and the rice papee skin did taste a little old and tough. I liked the dipping sauce Pho - 3/5 on a cold day, hot soup is always good! It's on the sweeter side but not too sweet. I felt there was a lack of depth to the flavors though and definitely a lack of veggies on top

Yelp
First time at Lantern House. All the food was high quality, if perhaps a little on the safe/bland side compared to some of our Eden Center favorites. Bánh xèo (just called "Crepe" on the menu here) is one of my tests of a good Vietnamese kitchen, and the version here came out quick, hot, and crisp, with a generous garnish of basil, cilantro, and mint (but not big enough lettuce). It was a bit light on the bean sprouts, the carrots were barely pickled, and the nước chấm (sauce on the side) was bland, but I would still order it again. Haven't tried the pho, or the banh mi, but I'll be back. Four stars for now...

Yelp
My newer go-to-Pho restaurant near my apartment. I LOVE the Ginger Steak Pho. Kind of tastes medicinal; especially during the cold days. The food is fresh and quick to serve and there's always plenty of available booths to dine-in even if you're dining in solo. I eat here at least once every month. They're one of the best and most clean Pho restaurant to eat in at in Falls Church (NoVA). They even have beers and wine choices. And they have Karaoke nights!

Yelp
Awesome good food and service. Beautiful atmosphere.. I had the Pho soup and crispy rolls. Bit pricey, yet delicious .

H L.

Yelp
Bad, unauthentic Vietnamese food. Expensive as well, not worth for the money. Recommend going to Eden center for more authentic Vietnamese cuisine menus within the local areas.

Yelp
Have been intrigued by this spot for a while. Lovely decore, but the real star is the food. I had the lemongrass chicken with chilies, My good friend ordered the house salad with chicken. Looking forward to trying more of the menu, as both were excellent. In addition to the quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparation their portions are generous for the price. Thank you for a lovely late Sunday lunch.

Yelp
My friend found this spot so we decided to try it on the weekend. - Fried Crispy Rolls -- crunchy with tasty filling - Tai / Eye Round Steak Pho -- my go-to for pho; I prefer the meat to be raw, but it was served fully cooked in the broth - Bun Bo Hue / Spicy Beef Noodle Soup -- nicer portion size compared to mine The interior is quite cozy and nicely decorated with lanterns. Overall, the service was good.

Yelp
Love coming here for lunch. Fresh food and cute ambiance. The service is great as well. Definitely top 3 in the DMV for Vietnamese food

Yelp
Solid pho spot! I unfortunately did not have a photo of the initial pho, I got P2, the ginger beef. It was fresh, flavorful, and the sauces provided included homemade chili oil. The ambiance and decorations are adorable despite the smaller and older space inside. Even though the group I came with arrived 30 minutes before closing, the staff was patient and friendly.

Yelp
I wish this place was in McLean. Every dish I've tried is superb. You just can't get it wrong, from the banh mi, the classic phos (I like the pho ga), and the vermicelli dishes which I normally order during the summer as the noodles are properly served at room temperature. The appetizers are also delightful. The one thing I would wish other than having it McLean is that they opened until a bit later.

Yelp
We had a great dinner at the Lantern house, for my daughter's birthday. We ordered the special Pho served in an iron pot. And order a few of the house specials. The food and service were excellent. The decor is fantastic, fancy for a very appealing restaurant. And they made us a mango smoothie for dessert that the kids loved

Yelp
Lantern House is a cute casual restaurant with a festive decor, a surprise find in a strip mall. If you are searching for Vietnamese-style crispy spring rolls, this is the place to go. Their other dishes are good too but the spring rolls really stand out. I give them 4 stars only because I haven't tried many dishes. I order mostly the spring rolls and other appetizers on the menu because I love them so much!

Yelp
It was my first time being there. The food was great and the service was attentive. The lantern decorations were awesome.

Yelp
The food here is reasonably priced and quite tasty. My friend and I stopped by for dinner yesterday and we got our food pretty quickly. We enjoyed the donut making video they had going on in the background as it provided good entertainment value while we were waiting for our food. GRILLED PORK ON RICE - 13.45 Lots and lots of rice, and a good amount of grilled pork that's been topped with oil and scallions for garnish. The pork was flavorful and cooked well. The bits of fat on each pieces gave it a juicier texture and deeper flavor. The sauce was really good, too and the veggies were decent. Sadly, I don't like cucumbers so I left them there. I wish this came with a fried egg or some sort. Too much rice, so I didn't end up finishing it. My friend got the grilled pork with vermicelli and there were also a lot of vermicelli noodles that she wasn't able to finish. She also got the summer rolls but unfortunately, sneaky pieces of cilantro were wrapped inside them so I wasn't the biggest fan of my bite. Next time, I want to try the pho here to see how good it is.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends and was immediately seated. Vibes are casual and chill here- no reservation needed. Got the grilled pork banh mi, which was delicious! The meat was seasoned super well and it was very fairly priced. The pho is also good here. Highly recommend checking it out. Great place!

Yelp
Festive, solid Vietnamese food. The owner is quite kind and have spoken to me and my family numerous times. I go here often and have enjoyed every single dish. A secret surprise is that they have a great sandwich too. I've enjoyed their fried pho. You heard me. It's a real Vietnamese dish. Bun Bo hue and egg rolls are solid as well.

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Consistently delivers delicious food We love the food, ambiance and service. Now 9/19/23 Lantern House will be open till 12am on Thu-Fri-Sat. See the After Hour menu for food and cocktails. There will be karaoke too. Enjoy!

Yelp
We had high hopes and were excited to try this cute little restaurant. Decor was so cute and service was terrific - Food on the other hand was not great. Noodles in vermicelli bowl were completely over cooked to the point of being slimy - could not eat them. Beef and broccoli had zero flavor - bland and watery and peanut sauce served with summer rolls was thick and gooey and also lacked flavor. Sorry but all true:( we wish so much food would have been better - Ambience, staff and service was the highlight. Also parking was very limited and hard to find a space.

Yelp
I've had pho and iced tea from lantern house and I'm always so impressed with the food and drinks there! There's a cute ambience inside and it's quite easy to get seated as a walk in. They have several different bahn mi and pho options and my favorite is the beef pho. The ingredients taste very fresh and the portion size is quite large for a reasonable price. Recommend for both dine in and to go options!

Yelp
Love it for solid fresh Vietnamese fare in a lovely setting. I love the fact that they have a liquor license and their limeade sugar free is my happy place. I love their broth... it's super strong and flavorful and full of umami and herbs and spices. Check them out $

Yelp
Excellent food! Great service. The food is always very fresh. Our family loves their Pho & Spring Rolls.

Yelp
What a great find! Was really craving Vietnamese casual food and found this place. We got a pork banh Mi and chicken vermicelli noodles. My cravings were totally satisfied and everything tasted authentic. The portions were large too and prices reasonable. Great service as well, no complaints. Will be back again!

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese food! We came here on a cold, rainy day when the wait at a new, trendy ramen restaurant was too long...which turned out to be a stroke of luck because it meant we got to discover Lantern House. My son had pho and loved the herby, anise scented broth. I had a clay pot with beef that was AMAZING . The broken rice is cooked n the pot in the juices of the beef and is so delicious. We also had crispy rolls which were perfect. Service was good, too, even though they were quite busy. Very, very happy with our lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
The food spectacular, service is amazing, and the restaurant overall is clean and decorated nice. I drive 40 minutes away to come eat here.
google avatar

Yelp
Had an opportunity to go again and updating the review to 5 stars. Everything was available this time around and delicious. The BBH was full of flavor and the Banh Mi had a lot of chicken. The baguette was baked to perfection and everything went well together. Until something happens or the quality slips, this will probably be our go to Viet place for a while.

Yelp
A friend of mine and I happen to come across this amazing restaurant in Falls Church yesterday evening... This Vietnamese restaurant has such cute atmosphere, as well as great food and great service! We were impressed with the service as well as the decor and the tasty food that was prepared for us this yesterday evening. My friend ordered a crêpe with pork and chicken and greens and the plate looked absolutely beautiful! I ordered stirfry chicken with broccoli onions and peppers and that was amazing too. First time here was a great success!!
google avatar

Yelp
Yay! Great experience trying this lovely local spot. The decor is inviting but I did carry out. I must say--everything from the ordering through pick up was a breeze (don't let the notoriously tricky parking lot put you off). Family gathered to sample everything from crispy rolls to Bahn mi to pho to clay pot and all kinds of noodles (7 dishes total). Everyone enjoyed it! Fresh ingredients, great rice and noodles, wonderful flavors all around. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Lovely hole in the wall, a pretty gem w all the hanging lights and lanterns. Started w crispy rolls w shrimp and pork, a light crunchy crust on tasty filling. Solid pho broth, was pleasantly surprised how deep and complex it was. I got the 3 beef combo and had a generous selection of meats. Hubs had the fried wings wc he insisted had 5 spice I had to remind him this was Vietnamese not Chinese. Everything tasty and would def come back to try other menu items.

John K.

Yelp
This is a very good place. The Sizzling Clay Pot is great. The wife loved the Vietnamese crepe. Also, the menu is very gluten-friendly. They even use gluten-free soy sauce.
google avatar

Jcub T.

Yelp
The portion sizes for their entrees were bigger than I expected which is always a plus! But I felt that the food wasn't that tasty or authentic? I would come back again though to try other items on their list. Overall the staff were attentive, just knocking for taste as I have had better elsewhere. The ambiance/decor is really nice though and sets for a good casual date spot.

Yelp
Love this place! Friendly and patient service. I usually go here when I'm craving authentic Vietnamese food. Big portions with fresh veggies and I usually pack my left overs for the next day. Fantastic place
google avatar

Yelp
Nice new Viet restaurant in the area! Modern open design and friendly staff. We tried the bun bo hue, caramel fish, and the imperial rolls. The BBH was rich and flavorful with all the right dressings and ingredients. They are not stingy with the offering! The caramel fish came out bubbling and smelled delicious. The fish itself was a bit fishy, but overall flavor good. The imperial rolls were crispy and light. One serious complaint are the types of seats in the booth area. The seats are designed so that people sit on both sides. I had a family sit behind me with little kids who would not stop fiddling and jumping up and down in their seat. Needless to say I had a very rocky dinner. We will certainly be back for the food!
google avatar

Yelp
An absolute delicious delight! We have always wanted to try this and I am glad we decided to! Just wish we discovered this sooner. The roll to the Shaking beef was hearty in portions and yummy in the tummy. Fresh and tasty...I will definitely be back to try other dishes. Parking is not an issue as was seating for a Friday night. Lastly, service here was very helpful and friendly...always had a smile to make the experience that much more enjoyable. Highly recommend. Enjoy!

Yelp
Brought the familytobtry this restaurant. In my opinion one notch above the rest. A must try restaurant. Food is consistently scrumptious. Amazing flavors. Fresh spring rolls are probably the best I ever had. The shrimp had amazing flavor. So many things on the menu that I want to try. Tried the seafood pho today. All I can say is wow. The stock is amazing. Plenty if seafood. Might be my new favorite pho. The ambiance is laid back. Service is fantastic.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! This is the second time eating here and both times the food and service was great! First time I got Pho. Huge portion and very flavorful. Yesterday I ordered the summer rolls with shrimp and vermicelli noodles with grilled pork. I texted my husband a picture and I had to order another noodle to go.

Aki T.

Yelp
Food is always good, service is good too. We came 4-5 times, today I ordered beef with rice for my first try. It was a hit! The volume was generous and tested really well. The bedding veggie was fresh with many kinds. We also ordered pho and claypot fish, both of them were delicious. I am already thinking to try something else on my next time.

Yelp
I came here two days ago for the first time. I've been meaning to come here for quite sometime since I'm often in the area, I really like Vietnamese food, and this place got really good reviews. I was really excited to try this place. I ordered a Large bowl of Smashed Ginger Eye Round Steak Pho. I went with the Large bowl because it was significantly bigger than the Small bowl and was only $1 more. I was very much underwhelmed by my Pho. The quality and taste was mediocre. It was full of noodles and had hardly any beef. I'm perplexed why this place got so many excellent reviews. There a several Vietnamese restaurants down the road in Eden Shopping Center which are much better. You also have Pho Sate in Falls Church and much more so, 1914 by Kolben in Washington D.C., which is an astounding Vietnamese restaurant. In addition those places I have had excellent Pho elsewhere in the United States like VN Pho & Deli in Nashville, TN as well as places in the Los Angeles area. Again, I'm puzzled why people think so highly of this place when you have other Vietnamese restaurants in the area much better. I think this restaurant is trying to attract people in the area that either don't know about Eden Shopping Center or out of convenience don't want to make trek down there.

Yelp
A favorite neighborhood place. Excellent banh mi, pho, tofu. Vegan friendly. I eat here often!

Yelp
Here is an update to my review after going to this place a bunch of times. This is our favorite Viet place now. And not just my husband and I, the whole family including my mother in law who is a pick eater. Their crispy rolls is amazing!!! Their phos are the best. I have a trick and that I get a veggie pho without tofu and a side of steak and make steak pho with a ton of vegetables. All and all, a comfy, cozy, comfort food.

Yelp
I was eager to try this place since lately I have been craving Vietnamese food, but unfortunately this restaurant missed the mark for me. First off, the restaurant is conveniently located, very clean, and nicely decorated. The lanterns hanging from the ceiling were so cute, and the place felt very warm and welcoming. However, the food and service just did not hit the spot. While we were seated and had our order taken rather quickly, it took a long time for our food to be prepared. In addition, the staff was not very attentive to our table and did not come by anytime after we ordered. This may be a result of being understaffed so perhaps this will be remedied in the future. Unfortunately, we found that the food was not worth the wait or cost. We ordered the grilled pork vermicelli, beef stew with baguette, pho, and grilled pork banh mi (sandwich). The portions are well-sized and the grilled pork vermicelli was quite good, but the rest of the dishes were mediocre. The beef in the stew was tough and chewy. The baguettes for the stew and banh mi were rather dry. Given the higher price range compared to similar establishments in the area and the wait we had here, we probably will find another spot to satisfy our future Vietnamese food cravings.

Mischa J.

Yelp
I only came here once, but I liked it for the most part. The food was nice, the staff were very nice, and the atmosphere felt very nice. I had a Banh mi sandwich, which tasted fairly nice, but I was not completely impressed with it for some reason. It was also on the pricier side, as far as Banh mi sandwiches go. I also had a Vietnamese iced-coffee, which was good, but it was also a bit pricy in my opinion. So all in all, my experience was good. I might come back to try something else, maybe a pho dish.
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese cuisine! We came here on a chilly, wet day because the line at a new, fashionable ramen restaurant was too long...which turned out to be a lucky break because it allowed us to find Lantern House. My youngster enjoyed the herby, anise-scented broth in his pho. I got a clay pot with steak that was just delicious. The broken rice is cooked in the kettle with the meat juices and is really tasty. We also got crispy rolls that were delicious. Service was also excellent, despite the fact that they were really busy. We were quite pleased with our meal!
google avatar

Kathleen T.

Yelp
If you are a bun bo hue fan, you MUST try it here! It is one of the most authentic bun bo hue in DC metro. I was pleasantly surprised that there were traditional meat toppings such as, pork blood and ham hocks. There were also all the traditional herb/salad toppings for this particular soup. The broth was spicy, fragrant, and rich with lemongrass and shrimp paste (which is an important ingredient in bun bo hue). I really hope the restaurant continues to serve their bun bo hue this way as most restaurants have really fallen victim to "Americanizing" this delicious soup. My husband got the lemongrass beef vermicelli and thought it was cooked perfectly but lacked the lemongrass flavor but he would order it again in a heartbeat. Portions (bigger than average but not huge) reflect the price which I would say is maybe a dollar more than other Vietnamese restaurants. I will gladly pay more for authentic food! Welcome to the Falls Church City neighborhood! We are glad to have you!

Yelp
Was craving Pho and wanted to try something new so decided to try lantern house with my wife. The location is very convenient and we were able to get a parking spot right out front. We received a friendly greeting and were quickly seated and given menus. I love Pho and am used to restaurants having maybe 10 soup options and a handful of other thing. Was surprised to see what a large menu is offered here. I got standard Pho and really enjoyed it. My wife got the vermicelli noodles w/ fried roles and an avocado smoothy. We both enjoyed our food a lot. Portions were large, flavors were good, and service was very friendly. Overall, great value for money and great food. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
A welcome haiku as a first to review Post covid launch Extensive yet authentic Vietnamese fare Real review coming soon after additional samplings So far highly recommend the Vietnamese beef stew, the caramelized catfish clay pot rice, and the Banh Xeo (savory crepe) Grand opening 20% off all items, order more not only to support this new neighborhood joint but also to venture out of your comfort zone to try new things beyond pho and bun, although I'm confident they are all solid renditions.
