I wanted to take my wife on Valentine’s evening before dinner but, alas, discovered it a bit too late. No worries. I booked Sunday night at 7pm. We arrived on time and were rapidly seated & given friendly and concise instruction by our host. The class was comprised of about 16 guests. There are approximately 25 fragrances to choose from and guests are asked to select two to make your candle. The candle vessels are attractive and were larger than I’d expected. Overall we had a lot of fun discussing scent combos and referencing the book “Perfume” (everyone should read it!) as we assembled our final products. We popped out for a bite and returned 30 minutes later to discover our masterpieces bagged and ready to burn! For $100 per couple I found it a fun experience worth repeating. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Such a fun experience from start to finish! Came her for a girl’s night and I can see this being a great time for larger groups/ dates etc. I love how the candle making process is done at your own pace with thorough instructions, but the instructor/host Tisya was so kind and super attentive to all of the guests and advised if necessary. She also offered to take pictures was which was a nice momento! I was so happy how my candle turned out. there are plenty of stunning vessels and fragrances to choose from. The fragrances seem very intentional, and I can imagine there must be so many beautiful scents you can customize! I was also thrilled that the experience was BYOB, and conveniently located in the heart of Chinatown so you can grab a quick bite while you wait for your candle to set. Will absolutely be back :)

We ended a weekend-long celebration of my husband’s birthday in NYC here, and it was truly the perfect way to wrap up our trip! Tisya was incredibly kind and attentive—even with the step-by-step guide on the tables, she checked in on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. While we waited for our candles to set, she recommended a couple of local spots for dinner (it was AMAZING). She even created a special picture moment for us, it made the experience even more memorable. The atmosphere in the lab was so relaxing, and the energy/vibes were perfect. We’re already looking forward to scheduling our refill session (p.s. love the sustainability aspect of offering refill lab sessions)!

I absolutely loved my experience at Lanterne lab, specially since it’s not a guided group class. Staff goes to each table and briefly explains how it works and then you work at your own pace without having someone telling you what to do. Great for date nights, team building or girls night out. You can also BYOB which is great, I made my candle and it was ready for pick up in around 1hr 1/2.

The best experience! My first time making a candle and it was so relaxing! The instructor was so friendly and explained all the steps to us. I would definitely do this again with family and friends. Great date night idea!

The ambience of the space is so inviting and it smells so good in there. The host makes it even better because she’s welcoming and shes not on top of you but will give you tips and tricks to get the perfect candle going! I highly recommend this space! The playlist that was going was a great touch too!

Google
Such a great experience! Staff were super nice and friendly. They will guide you through your candle making process. You are allowed to use up to two fragrances. (They have an amazing collection of fragrances!) The whole process will take about 40min and you come back to pick up your candle in 2h. Ours turned out super pretty! Would definitely recommend this place to friends 🥰

This is the cutest candle place ever! I love how it’s self paced so you don’t have to wait on others. The scents are also great to choose from. Def recommend!

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try out Lanterne for our annual galentine's candle-making date! We appreciated that the session was self-led and flexible with clear instructions, and the staff was very attentive and friendly in making sure everyone had what they needed at all times. The studio is so pretty, spacious, and clean. I love that they provide a ton of different options for your vessel, scent, and design. Moreover, you can reuse your vessel for a discounted session in the future. Overall, highly recommend!

Yelp
Candle-making at Laterne Candle Lab was such an amazing outing in the City! I came here for a girls' night out and had a great time. The host was welcoming and informative. There were step-by-step directions to the candle-making process at each table, so you could go at your own pace. Things to note: 1. While there's a hostess who guides you through each step, you're able to go at your own pace. 2. There are so many fragrances to choose from! Come here with an idea of scents that you like to help you narrow down the selection process. 3. You have the option of picking up your candle when it's dry or heading out with your candle after your session. Overall, candle-making was such a fun and relaxing process. This experience was well worth the $50. I recommend coming here for a date night or outings with friends.

Yelp
Such a fun experience! Came here for a girls night recently and had a blast! I love that the fragrance lineup includes more Asian-inspired scents (matcha, boba, lychee etc), in addition to classics like citrus, floral, and cashmere. Honestly all the scents smell amazing, and there are so many so come with an idea of what you like! It's a self-paced experience, but the staff are there to help if you need it. You can combine up to 2 scents to make your candle, and have a chance to sniff them side-by-side before deciding. The vessels are also so pretty, and you can decorate your candle at the end with flowers or glitter. After making your candle it takes about an hour to set, so go grab food in Chinatown while you're waiting! This place is also BYOB.

Flora H.

Yelp
I took my mentee here for a bonding activity and we had a great time! It was a bit less involved than I expected (I thought it would be a "class" but you really just select a vessel, scent, mix, and pour the wax, each person at their own pace) which was okay and gave us a lot of free time to roam Chinatown. It's a decent price given that you leave with a large candle but not something that I'd do all the time (a lot of people were returners, and you even have the option to refill your vessel for a slightly lower price). A cute idea for something different to do, and an excuse to go to Chinatown.

Yvonne D.

Yelp
Booked ahead of time & Took my mom here during Mother's Day weekend! I've been to another candle making place but this one was better! I love that it is self guided. The Host was readily available for any and all questions you had. They had a large variety of scents and vessels for your candle. It is byob so we brought those little mini bottles of wine! Great value and experience for the price.

Yelp
Amazing experience, and very good value- to create your own customized scented candle and have such a fun/personal experience, think it its well worth the $50. My husband and I love scented candles and this seemed like the perfect way for us to celebrate our anniversary- I saw it on Instagram and it looked like a really cute activity. Make the reservation online and pay there- the check in process the day of was seamless (just tell them your name and they'll guide you to a table). Each table was already set with the supplies needed to make your very own candle- go up to the display of candle vessels to pick your vessel and also explore the scents that they have out (you can pick up to two scents.) We took time to sniff everything and we settled on our respective scents. Each table also had a set of instructions so you could make your candle masterpiece at your own pace. Follow the steps, decorate and then come back an hour later to pick up your handmade candle! We went to go get dinner in the area as we waited to pick up our candle, such a nice way to promote the other businesses in Chinatown! The staff member was attentive and answered all our questions. I had noted in our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, and they even put a cute "Happy Anniversary" sign on our table! Super cute and fun activity- perfect for a date night, a bachelorette, activity with friends!

Alyssa E.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had the best time celebrating our anniversary making custom candles at Lanterne! It was easy to reserve a spot, and upon arrival everything was set up and ready for us to start. All the steps were clearly laid out for us on cards at our table, and all of the necessary materials were there as well. It was super easy to follow the instructions and there was someone there to guide us the whole way through. My favorite is how customizable everything is. You select your vessel, up to two scents to blend, and can even add flower petals/glitter and make your own label. It takes about an hour for the candle to be set and packaged after you're done, so we just ate lunch and it was ready by the time we came back. So excited to come back next time with some friends!

Yelp
For my last review of women's history month, I had to review Lanterne Lab. The owner, Tisya, had the best intentions when she opened this business. While you're waiting for your candle to dry, she encourages you to go patronize another local business in Chinatown. After Chinatown was hit really hard during the pandemic, this is such a cool way to incentivize folks to spend money at local restaurants that deserve our business. Back to candles, every step of this process is fun. It's an excellent value, and all the products are really high-quality. I chose a chic, black vessel, and filled it with a "hinoki" fragrance that reminded me of Boy Smells. I designed my own label, added nice flower petals into my wax, and loved the crackling bamboo wick. Afterwards, we went to eat at a local business, and then I came back to pick up my candle. As a candle fanatic, I hate when I spend money on a candle that doesn't fill a room with fragrance. This candle did a really good job of permeating fragrance throughout my apartment. I was actually surprised, it made the whole experience such a great value - you can spend way more money on a premade candle that doesn't have nearly the same fragrance effect. And I got to make it myself! This is a great date night, birthday celebration, and gift experience give friends or family. But honestly, also a great perfect place to come if you just want a new candle to burn for no reason. A fabulous woman-owned business to support this month and always!

Yelp
When I first saw the place I was wondering if I'm gonna make lantern or candle. Such a fun establishment and experience. It's not too complicated and the instruction is clear. Love that you can pick your own scent and mix your own. I'd love to try to mix more scent next time. The founder (didn't get her name) is super nice. Definitely recommend and want to come back again already!

Yelp
I enjoyed the experience of making my own candle! From choosing from a variety of colors for the candle holder, picking two scents, easy to follow self-guided instructions, to picking up the candle an hour later, the process was smooth and enjoyable! The price is $50 total which is pricey but normal for New York.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Such a cute and fun experience! It is exciting to pick your own scents, candle vessel, and make your own label and decoration. The candle making experience was so enjoyable. The owner was very sweet and I liked how we were able to go at our own pace for everything. This is such a good idea for a birthday celebration, date, or activity for to do with friends. I highly recommend this experience!

Ashley D.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying how accommodating they were. My friend and I had an appointment the weekend of the horrible flood. All flights were canceled. They allowed us to reschedule two months later until she was able to get back to the city. Without fees or any issues. I truly appreciate the flexibility. Not only was it gorgeous inside but our instructor (Trish or Trisha) was well spoken and explained the entire process clearly. I liked how it was personalized and not a group class. The scent selections were great and the candles came out beautiful. Fifty bucks well spent. I def recommend for a cute night out or a birthday.

Sandy D.

Yelp
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and if you're looking for a festive activity, candle making should be on your radar! The price is $50 each online, but you can get 10% off if it's your first time. They also send a reminder email a day before. Make sure to book early as slots fill up quick! I felt so guilty bringing in drinks lol, but they are sweet to allow it! In what I thought was a class you do with other strangers, you actually create the candles at your own pace which was fun too. There's a mini flip book at each table with instructions. I have always been terrible in understanding science lab instructions, let alone candle vocab, so luckily there are friendly patient workers eager to offer guidance. My favorite parts was customizing our candles, from the scents down to thinking of a name for our candle. The rest of the process was essentially mixing everything together with the wax. Simple enough! Note there is a one hour-ish wait for the candle to dry before picking it up again. The scents I chose were Cashmere and Tuberose, for a subtle holiday vibe, but not really. I didn't expect too much from this, given some disappointed Yelp reviews. But I think with the right company, and if you take your time just enjoying the process, this is truly worth the holiday experience! Plus, the candle itself is quite large and probably will last a while! I can't wait to light up my candle creation soon.

Yelp
Enjoyed my time there with my daughter and her friend. Love my limoncello scented candle and look forward to going back in the not too distant future!

Lindsay S.

Yelp
My friend took me here this past weekend as a birthday gift and had such a great time! We showed up for our reservation at 12pm and it is very much a do on your own experience. When we came we got to choose what table we set at with all of the materials already laid out and on your table are step-by-step instructions on what to do. The worker came around during the steps where we needed wax/finishing up, and was super helpful! There are so many vessels and scents to choose from and you're able to mix up to two scents together! Very fun experience overall took about 20 minutes but then once you finish, you have to give the candles about 2 hours to dry so perfect time to walk around or grab a bite to eat! Very fun date, birthday, casual idea and would definitely come back!

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I couldn't be happier with my decision to come here for my dear friend's birthday who loves candles! This spot earns its 5 stars. Most def a high quality product and experience (oils, materials, presentation) so worth the $$. Warm and inviting, super cozy inside. You're equipped with everything you need and I love that it is self paced as having someone guide can be anxiety producing for me. The help was there when I needed it! Staff is so awesome, don't change. Amy is a sweetheart - thanks Amy! I'll be back :)

Sejla A.

Yelp
I love candles and when I saw that I can make my own candle I had to do it! The session is self-based so you go at your own pace. You pick your vessel, scents and get to pouring. Then you decorate after. I made the mistake of moving through everything quickly so I would suggest that you just take your time with everything! You pick up your masterpiece 1-2hours upon completion and the location is near Little Italy so if you're looking for something to do, grab a bite nearby. Honestly for a really nice candle, the price is around $40 so I would say that the price for this experience is a good one too. Also, 2 of our friends had cancelled last minute on us and we knew that they couldn't get a refund since it was last minute. So when we showed up, we were still able to make their candles. Highly recommend if you're looking to do something different for a date or with a group!

Claire M.

Yelp
Came here for a special occasion and I enjoyed our experience here! There was only one person working and she set us up in one of the tables. Even though the shop is small, I liked out the tables are big and gives you enough room to feel like it isn't cramped. The instructions were easy to follow and now my partner and I have 2 candles that we made ourselves! I would recommend this experience for everyone!

Angela L.

Yelp
We booked the candle-making after seeing some videos on TikTok about the great experience. We had a great time! The candle scent collection is extensive and we were very happy with the vessel choices. We followed a small booklet at our table and mixed our scents into the already melted wax in order to make our candle. It was very straightforward - if you are looking for something more hands-on, this may not be the class for you. We enjoyed our experience because it was a unique experience and I always wanted to pick the fragrances in my candles (I picked Tuberose + Moss - this scent was described by my friends as something similar to the Anthropologie candle) We brought our own drinks to the class (from across the street at Alimama) and they had dried flowers in the drinks we ordered. We actually used it to decorate our candles as well - so our candles came out differently from other tables. I usually spend $40+ on good-quality candles so I think the price is fine. The owner of the place was wonderful and sweet - we love supporting small businesses!

Karina A.

Yelp
This place was super cute and great place to hold an event! The owner was super helpful and super nice! It was a great experience you were able to make your own candle with two different scents and choose your own vessel. There was a scent for everybody! I enjoyed that you could make your candle at your own pace, they displayed photos of instructions on each table so it was dummy proof! Of course the owner was there if you needed help. I would 10/10 go here again!

Cheryl L.

Yelp
A great activity to do with your SO or a group of gals for a more artsy night. They have so many scents to pick from and you are given the option to mix two of your choice. I mixed honeydew and coconut and was very happy with how mine turned out. We had a really large group but the staff were very friendly and accommodating! We emailed beforehand to make sure it was okay, but they allowed us to bring some bubbly to enjoy for the special occasion which I thought was very nice. A bit expensive for a candle and it is a relatively quick process, but I recommend taking your time and having fun with it for the best experience!

Vanessa L.

Yelp
I had a really fun and enjoyable experience at Lanterne Candle Lab! The candle making process is mostly individualized in that there isn't a hands-on instructor guiding you throughout the process. There's flip page instructions on the table and the instructor occasionally stops by each table to check in and answer questions. I really loved the lychee, tuberose, and honeydew scents but I ended up going for lychee and tuberose. It's a subtle fruity and floral scent! Overall, I say it's one of the best candle making shops in NYC. The candle vessels are so pretty and the scents are unique. I know these candles will last me a long time so I'd say it's worth the $50! Pro-tip: bring your own dried flowers for extra pizzazz to your candles! I read that some people went to Alimama across the street and bought drinks with dried flowers to add to their candles!

Wen Na Z.

Yelp
This is such a fun activity to do with a friend/SO/group! The studio itself is small, so if you're planning on booking a session, make sure you book well in advance as seats do quickly fill up. The candle session itself takes about 45 minutes, but make sure you add an additional 2 hours to your agenda for the candle to set. My friend and I made our candles and then stopped by a local restaurant for a meal before picking up our candles. Overall, the experience was lovely and there was a staff member there to help guide you through the experience. There's also step-by-step instructions at each table. You can mix up to 2 scents per candle. I chose lychee and limoncello; and my friend chose lychee and rose. I think they turned out well!

Alice K.

Yelp
Exploring a delightful date or group activity, creating personalized candles at this venue proved to be an engaging and enjoyable experience. My partner and I relished the opportunity to craft unique candles, collaboratively selecting colors and scents.

Shanita M.

Yelp
Omg....what a hidden gem. I wanted to book a candle making experience for my friend and I. I actually booked this spot by mistake, and it was the best mistake I could make. It is located in the middle of Chinatown. Very modern and sleek interior. When we arrived, we were greeted and seated and explained the process from start to finish. We were given room and time to explore the different sents and color vessels we would use to create our candle. Once we began, the owner was very patient and helped to ensure that we left with the perfect candle. I not only enjoyed the experience BUT the candle is really good. I would recommend this for a girls' night out....date night...and even with older kids. I personally will be going back.

Gloria Z.

Yelp
They were able to host our large party. We loved our time here- it was such a fun process, great for all ages. The scent and vessel varieties were really nice. We had a really good time and couldn't wait for the final product. Staff here and studio were amazing!

Yuki C.

Yelp
Tisya and Amy were amazing! They were super helpful and fun. I would recommend for a first date, or anniversary! They book out fast so highly recommend booking 2-3 weeks in advanced.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Such a lovely experience! Came with a friend to make matching candles, and found the perfect friend date, real date, hangout, etc. spot. Will definitely be coming back with a larger group, my partner, the same friend - can't get enough of it! There's a clear step-by-step guide to clearly walk you through the process (e.g., select a vessel, pour x Oz of wax and mix). I was wowed off the bat once I saw the vessel options - there are a variety of high quality vessels, with thick exteriors in different cute pastels, shimmery colors, matte exteriors, etc. to choose from. You can then choose up to 2 scents from a wide range of flavors, ranging from matcha to bubble tea (which actually smells like boba!!) to rose. I chose hinoki, which was a very clean, laundry-like scent, and tuberose, which smelled more tea-like and was also light. Originally I was going to go with hinoki + rose, but was told the rose scent may be overpowering and would leave the hinoki as a secondary smell - amazing service and expertise!! After following all the candle making steps to mix the scent and the hot melted wax, you are given the opportunity to decorate the top of your candle with dried flowers. This step takes your candles to the next level - from just personalized smells to highly personalized looks and a very very cute candle. I saw some people with larger dried flowers bulbs and were told they used the floral decorations from their Alimama drink for the candle - will definitely be doing that in the future! At the very end, you are given a chance to personalize the front of your candle sticker. Mine is pasted on a bit slanted which now bothers me a bit. Would recommend taking the time to make sure it's lined up well!

Ivy L.

Yelp
The most fun experience making a candle!! To start off, I love that the location is in Chinatown and the space is cozy / not too crowded. We booked a candle making for two people and arrived early. You can bring in your own drinks so we picked up milk tea. You start with looking at fragrances you like or want to mix. And they have very easy instructions on what process. There is an instructor walking around to help you if you need it. Overall, such a fun experience. Totally worth it!!!

Marijke K.

Yelp
Heard about Lanterne Lab through Welcome to Chinatown - I'm so glad I came! It was a fun evening with friends (candle pouring and then dinner nearby!) and you come away with a custom candle that is ~exactly~ what you want. The steps are written out in an easy to follow way - so the only stress is the decision making! There were so many options from the vessel to scents that it was hard to choose. Just note that the pouring takes around 45mins, so plan on shopping or eating nearby while your candle sets.

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I found out about Lanterne through a Yelp curated list of gifts from local businesses in NYC, and I'm so glad I did. I treated two friends to this experience, and we had such a lovely time! I thought the class would have an instructor that guides everyone through steps at the same time, but I actually ended up liking that it was self-guided with a handy flip book (and of course there was someone actually walking around to help). I appreciate that they check for proof of vaccination / people keep their masks on for the most part (except when drinking since it is BYOB). We brought a bottle of wine and cups. Each group also has their own table which is nice. The space is also pretty decently sized -- not too cramped! There's one bathroom available. I really liked the variety of scents and vessels (candle containers available). I went with this beautiful gold one. I had a lot of fun smelling the various scents and ended up choosing Santal and Driftwood which are p mild (what I was looking for). From there, the process of measuring everything and mixing is pretty straightforward (the hardest part is centering your wick and warning label/candle label. I appreciated the amount of customization from this class. We also got to choose if we wanted to decorate the top with flower petals (blue, purple, yellow flowers) as well as the color label (I went with black). It probably took us 45 minutes to make the candle, but we stayed for another 45 minutes just chatting and drinking. We actually didn't have time to pick up our candles the same day, but we returned the next afternoon to pick them up. The candle wicks are trimmed and they come in a cute little bag!

Liz C.

Yelp
***Expensive, Pretty jars, One time experience*** I came here thinking it would be a pretty extensive, hands-on experience in making candles. Instead you follow a couple printed slides and it's on your own. If you're like me, you'll get through the process in under 20 minutes. For the amount that you're paying it's really not that worth it. The only awesome thing about this experience is their pretty jars. Keep in mind after you make your candle you have to wait at least two hours for it to dry.

Mysings A.

Yelp
This place is lit! A must see, must go, must try...it's a must! I absolutely love this experience! What I love is it's ideal whether you are in a fun group or alone with your fun self! The staff is so warm and welcoming and explains everything with care. You can BYOB to bring some elements of fun to your experience which is wonderful. You'll learn the magic and complexity of candle making but it's made so simple for everyday people. You can choose your own candle container with so many options to choose from. No one size fits all. Then it's on to select your scent. There is something for everyone and you can mix match and get creative. You'll feel like a master candle maker mixologist in a matter of minutes and you'll be so proud of what you're able to create. Set aside an hour to make your candle and then plan to grab food or shop or get a foot massage nearby because you need an hour minimum for cooling. This is such an affordable relaxing and memorable experience. If you're considering don't hesitate book it! Make it and light things up. This is one of my new faves in nyc! I'm sure it will be yours too!

Sharon J.

Yelp
This was SUCH a cute date with my boyfriend! We both made candles here and really enjoyed both the experience and the candles. Everything is so aesthetic and the process is super fast and easy to follow. I think it's around $45, which is how much I would typically pay for a nice candle anyways, except this is one you've made yourself catered to your senses! I had to book mine months in advance though, so definitely plan ahead since the spots fill up quickly. It's very much a self-led process since the instructions are in a booklet that is very easy to follow. You get to choose your candle holder, make a sticker for it, and choose two scents to mix together. I used driftwood and tuberose, which I thought turned out pretty well. After you mix your scents, you add the wax and these adorable flowers that show through when you burn the candle. The whole process takes around 30minutes. Then you can go to Chinatown for dinner or walker around for 1-2 hours while the candle sets. When you come back, you pick them up in a little canvas bag for it which is also super cute. It is also run by AAPI and uses sustainable materials so all great things to support! I loved this experience and will definitely be taking my friends here when they visit New York! :)

Yelp
This was SUCH a fun activity. I had pretty low expectations coming in, but I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of Lanterne Candle Lab. I think the owners/managers created the experience with a lot of thought, and it shows in each step. The branding is so cute and aesthetic, and all of the scents are AMAZING. I genuinely would purchase the candle my friend and I made because they smell THAT good. I love that the entire process is explained very simply and cutely on flippable instruction cards on every table. The manager also walked around to help, so you never felt like you were lost at any point in the process. Everything you need is already neatly laid out for you before you walk in. The entire process was seamless. I think the price we paid was so worth it, and I got to take home a keepsake that I love looking at and smelling to remind myself of the fun time I had here. They also allow you to bring back the used container to get a refill for a cheaper price! The candle actually is quite strong smelling too. I put mine on my nightstand, and I can smell it without it burning when I'm laying down in bed. I highly recommend Lantern Candle Lab. It's a fun activity to do with friends or even for a first date!

Yelp
Wow - what a cool experience! I don't normally buy myself nice $30 candles, but tacking on an extra 10-20 bucks for a fun activity seems better :) It's a self guided activity with clear instructions on how to make the candle. You get to choose your own vessel and scents (2). I chose Santal and Frose. The staff is so friendly and the space is incredibly cute. I could see this being a cute date night activity! It takes about 30-45min to make the candle, but allow time to come back in about 2 hours after the candle sets. Take this time to eat at one of the many fantastic restaurants in the area. Great location, great fun. Would recommend!

Yelp
Major shout out to Tisya, the amazing owner of Lanterne Lab, for creating a local business that also encourages people to support other business in Chinatown. This is exactly the mentality Chinatown and NYC as a whole needs to recover from the past 2 years. Well done!!! The actual candle making was so much fun. I loved how Tisya has enabled guests to approach this at their own pace by providing a step-by-step guide on the tables. There was an extensive collection of scented oils to choose from and robust offering of candle holders. I mixed 50/50 bamboo and Saffron Tea in a purplish/illusional colored pot. The candle turned out beautifully, finished with some crumbled flowers on top that pulled all the colors from my candle holder. The mix makes a pleasant aroma, though in hindsight I found the bamboo overtaking the Saffron, so would skew the mixture more. Everyone else seemed to have done a great job - I was delighted to sniff my way around the room. The best post-activity feeling is knowing that I'll get to use a different sense to enjoy the fruits of my labor, not just looking at a decoration. I am already considering arranging a buyout to entertain clients and their kids, and can highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to spend a fun hour or so while exploring Chinatown.

Yelp
Having done many different hand crafting around the world this is the first candle making ever. It's an hour self guided event. The instruction is quite accurate so you won't mess up. Also the manager is around if you have questions. I love that you get to create your own scent. I had henny and smoky sandalwood which creates a very muscular scent like a men's cologne.Everyone can curate their own scent based on their preference. Also choose the vessel too which all of them are super cute. The wig they use is not the traditional cotton wig, they use wood wig that burns organically less chemical. It's a $50/person experience for one hour and you come back in about an hour to pick up the candle for it to sit and solidify. Buying candle is basic, making candle is more fun. Also it's BYOB, if you want to add more fun to the experience.

Yelp
Candle making is a great date idea with your S.O or friends, but this particular experience is really NOT AS fun as the other reviews make it sound. Each session costs $50 and it is just too easy and short of an experience. You can EASILY finish it in 10 minutes if you're not the type to take photos/videos. I would have liked it more if we had the chance to melt the wax or decorate the candle vessel. Most of the people I saw were celebrating their birthdays and seemed to have a good time. If you plan for this to be a social event, you might enjoy it more because you can talk and drag on the 10 minute process into......30? The longest part of the process is picking out the fragrance.

Yelp
My team came here for a team event! It was easy to shoot them an email and set something up. BYOB good and drinks for the private event was great too. I love that everyone's candle came out smelling so different since there are so many combinations possibilities!!

Yelp
Fun little DIY candle store. Can get busy so make sure to RSVP ahead of time. Friendly staff who'll walk you through the process of making your candle. You'll pick your vessel then 1 or 2 scents. They give you instructions on how to mix it. Great date night activity or with a group of friends. Takes maybe 1 hr to make and 2 hrs for the candle to cool down. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
I attended their 1st birthday Candles for Community event, where I was able to make a custom mini candle and pay what I wished, with all the proceeds going to charity. You get to pick out your own jar and two scents. Some of the scents include lychee, rose, and coconut. I loved smelling them all and had a hard time picking two that would go well together. Each individual scent is well-curated so you could always just choose one! Next, a worker poured in hot wax, I mixed in my scents, and decorated the top with dried flowers and glitter. I retrieved the candle one hour later once it was dry, visiting the nearby Canal Street Market in the meantime. I really enjoyed my experience, but I would say the normal price seems a bit expensive to me.

Yelp
Pretty straightforward fun candle making experience. For around $100 (for two people) you get to make your own custom candle, which means picking out a candle holder, selecting up to 2 custom scents, pouring and mixing the wax, and adding flair (glitter and flower petals). It's a cute fun date night experience, and while it's definitely on the more expensive side for just candle making, It's a fun activity that I'll be sure to remember for the experience. There's also a discount if you bring back the original candle holder so it won't be as expensive the second time!

Yelp
A fantastic birthday gift! Came here yesterday with my roommate as a belated birthday gift, and we had a fun time. All the instructions were listed out for us, someone was here to supervise us each step of the way, and we both successfully made candles for our first times. I appreciated the insight that they provided us in regards to how much of the scented oils we should put in to have a good result, explanations as to why we need to include a certain amount of oil or wax in order for a candle to be successful, and the array of supplies we could use to decorate. Lastly, the light box wishing us a happy birthday at the end was an unexpected but very appreciated touch. We can wait to come back again!

Yelp
It was a fun experience and a beautiful Sunday on Juneteenth weekend. Making anything together is a nice way to bond and engage on a date or just spend time with someone you care about. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our hostess (I forgot her name but it started with a T) made us feel comfortable and explained things thoroughly. You choose your essential oils and your vessel. After that, you will be given your hot wax to pour and mix in your selected essential oils (you get to choose two). I won't ruin everything for you but I would recommend you go. It was fun and interactive. They play good music and you get to vibe while you create. You can also bring your own beverage .

Yelp
This was a really cute experience!! It's a make-your-own candle shop where you get a chance to create your own customized candle, with things mostly already prepped for you. When you get there, you have a table with the basic instruments set up (measuring beakers, scale, wick etc). You get to choose from a selection of very pretty vessels (large- final product is 13+ oz). There are a variety of matte or glossy colors. Then you get to choose a scent! I found one or two that I really liked, but I personally felt that most of their scents were not what I look for in a candle (some too fruity or warm). Surprised there was no lavender!! Hope they rotate their scents maybe seasonally. Then you proceed to measure your scent and wax, mix together, and pour! At the end they even offer some optional dry flowers for decorations and you can decorate your own label. All throughout, the service was great and everything was explained well. Very easy to do and follow. Their scents are paraben free and wax is soy/coconut based. Note- you have to wait for your wax to cool before taking the finished product, so you can either hang out there for an hour+, come back later or come back another day! They seemed very flexible about it. Seems like a great way to plan to do this (set aside about 40-45min for actual candle making), then go grab a bite in Chinatown. Make sure to book your appointment a few weeks ahead of time! The final product was really pretty and I am very happy with the size of the candle! I haven't actually used the candle so may update review then (on longevity of the candle and how it actually smells when lit). Lanterne is a great spot for a fun date night or girls night where you end up with something actually practical to use.

Yelp
Excellent candle making experience. The instructor was knowledgeable and kind. The lab was clean, cute and made to social distance between you and others. This is a great date night or girls/guys night out idea. It's economical and fun! The fact that it's byob was also a great touch. My candle smells phenomenal, a mix of Santal and cashmere is to LIVE FOR! Music plays the best hits of today and this full on experience was something I didn't know I needed until NOW. Thanks Lanterne Lab
