I recently had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant, and I can't wait to share it with you! The dinner was prepared with lightning speed, and the portions were truly impressive. Let me tell you, the hand-pulled noodles they serve alongside the delicious fried rice are absolutely fantastic! Every dish I tried was full of flavor and simply wonderful. The service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive, making my visit even more enjoyable. While the place may be on the smaller side, rest assured that it's clean and well-maintained. The lamb noodle and fried dumplings I had were okay. The scallion pancake was on point. I didn't find the food the most tasty, but I liked the overall experience.

The restaurant has a beautiful traditional large hand painted mural which is a great addition to their traditional food. The restaurant is very clean and the waiter was very polite. After ordering the food came out exceptionally fast!! Like within five minutes fast which is insane for a table of five!! The soup and the meat was extremely flavorful. Everything was very well done. If you're looking for hand pulled noodles this is one of the best place I've been to.

The food is quite good, a good amount of meat, the noodles are not the best hand-pulled I had, but above average. Soup is tasty. Although they are super busy, the service was not half bad. It is a bit crowded so not really a place to go if the atmosphere is important.

Good value food. Had hand-pulled noodles with beef soup and a veggie soup. The taste was good. Also ordered wontons and cucumber as appetizers. Both were okay. The waitress was really lovely and very kind.

They have good Chinese foods, prepare very fast, and also good price too. One thing is I personally wasn’t comfortable while eating because of fast edm music was being played haha. But still, I’d like to come back tho.

Great spot for a quick, yet satisfying meal. This place offers a good variety of options (dumplings, scallion pancakes, noodle soups, stir fried, etc). Some friends and I stopped by for a quick bite; substantial portion and well priced. The waitress/ cashier was very helpful and knew I liked pickled mustard green so gave me extra on my beef noodle soup. She also gave a comparable substitute for a missing seafood item for clam in the Ma La Tang dish. Would highly recommend for a cheap, quick meal or take out!

Lanzhou Ramen in Chinatown, NYC, earns a solid four stars for its consistently good food. The bustling crowd inside is a positive indicator of its popularity. Ordered the shrimp Shumai pulled noodles with veg soup and pan fried shrimp vegetables dumplings because I'm pescatarian. The soup was bland noodles soft and very oily. Maybe I should have chosen the knife cut noodles or asked for extra firm. The Shumai is the same as the frozen super market kind. The dumplings were amazing, but very oily. Edible, would go back for dumplings.

Fast, efficient, and good value. The noodle is tasty: they have several thinnest option to chose. The soup is a bit salty tho. Not a lot of meat. But I personally like the noodle texture, very chewy. Not greasy at all. $9.5 is totally worth the value.

Not the best not the worst beef noodle soup. The broth wasn't super deep and needed a spoon of the chili oil to bring up the flavor. Similar to what other reviews said, the noodles are pretty over cooked. I was trying to get a pic of the noodle pull but the noodles kept breaking... not a bad place to fill the craving but also not very memorable.

I love this place bc it's cheap, fast, hefty portions, and tastes like home. I wouldn't say it's the best noodle soup I've had in NYC but it really hits in its own way. Got the Beef Stew Shaved Noodle Soup and it was simple yet so satisfying - meat was tender, soup wasn't too oily or salty (unlike soooo many other noodle soup joints tbh), and the noodles were clearly handmade (possibly a bit overcooked but still tasted good). I literally only came here bc other restaurants in the area were full or closed, while this one was empty.. but so glad I gave it a try. Also, they take card!

Food: We had stewed beef tendon ramen and seafood ramen; and they were excellent! The beef tendon were cooked to perfection - just enough tender chewiness to satisfy the cavemen within. The seafood broth is simply one of the best I've ever I had. At last but definitely not least are the masterfully hand pulled noodles - simply divine ~

Beef handpulled soup noodles is my #1 order from this spot. $10, no frills. Comes with fresh noodles and tender soft beef. Soup was very tasty and had some depth, not overly drowning in salt. The bokchoy veggies were fresh and crunchy. They accept credit card.

OMG! Their Beef w/broccoli was just amazing! Nice big strip of beef, perfectly cooked broccoli and a wonderful sauce. The fried dumplings were also very fresh and tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place has large variety of noodles in different formats, from soup based to dry, hand pulled noodles to knife shaved noodles, with varieties of meat options. We personally tried the dry beef shaved noodles and the lamb hand pull noodle (soup). The dry beef shaved noodles is pretty good - the knife shaved noodle texture is quite chewy and on the al dente side, with the beef quite flavorful and tossed with lots of vegetables. This is a pretty hearty dish and is definitely sufficient for 1 person to enjoy. The lamb hand pull noodle was a bit of a letdown. While the soup is clear and very soothing, the lamb was a bit dry and somewhat bland, and the noodles were overcooked. If you go to this place, definitely opt for the knife shaved noodles as those are on par with some of the good ones that I had in Seattle.

Solid no-frills place for noodles and noodle soups! We got the beef stew hand pulled noodle soup, vegetable noodle soup, beef shaved noodle soup, and pork and chive dumplings. The noodle soup portions were very generous but we all agreed that we wished there were more meat/toppings for the price (~$10 each). The food came out very quickly, so def stop by if you need a quick meal!

I love noodle soup with no other protein than just a lot of beef tendon so when I saw that on the menu with hand pulled or shaved noodles I decided to try this place out. I imagine some people might be thrown by the word "ramen" in the name of the restaurant, expecting the Japanese noodle soup, but one glance at the menu told me this place was the Chinese style with hand pulled noodles and a lighter broth I've had a few times in much smaller establishments across Chinatown. The interior is spacious, tidy, woody, cozy, unpretentious - very inviting. Not at all crowded on a Sunday night at 7 which was nice. The service is very quick too. My beef tendon noodle soup was served elegantly in a large bowl with some bonus veg - soy sauce, vinegar, and the very important chili crisp are laid out on every table which I greatly appreciated. The soup was flavorful without being too salty and the noodles a perfect texture. My friend got the stir fried noodles, which, despite the giant portion, he easily ate all of. I think he liked it. Will be coming back for more soup and maybe to try more of the menu but I honestly wouldn't put it past myself to just keep ordering the same delicious beef tendon. :))

Many places for improvement. Understaffed but efficient. Lots of indoor seating. Not too busy. Never got served water after asking for it. @ basic bowl of noodles with beef (S1) - noodles are not too fresh, noodles could be more al dente and lacked the bounciness/chewiness of hand pulled noodles, broth is flavorful and beefy similar to pho broth but less sour @ sliced beef and tripe in chili sauce - waaaay too salty as an appetizer, chilled beef and tripe in a slightly spicy sauce, some beef is tender some beef tough and dry, just too salty TOTAL COST - $25 + tip. Quite expensive for one noodle to share with an appetizer. tl;dr don't get their noodles, the sliced beef in chili is way to salty, best thing is the broth that comes with the noodles

Very yummy. Their broth is good. Not too salty and has a lot of taste. I ordered a Ma Lai Beef Noodle soup. The noodles are a bit pricey but the portions are big. Place is clean and comfy. Would go back.

Big servings for a great price. Don't expect to be waited hand and foot at this place, it's a quick stop for a quick bite and the food comes out really fast piping hot. My sister brought me here and told me that the Ma La Tang was the best thing on their menu so I had the beef Ma La Tang and she had the beef brisket version. Portion was generous, felt like they could give more beef though because the pieces were pretty thick so like 4/5 pieces covered the bowl already. I'd like more pieces in a small size. Once you finish eating, take the ticket and pay at the front desk. It was very flavorful despite being less spicy. An abundance of veggies in there with a generous heaping of thin clear noodles, my favorite. I would definitely be back but I wish they had better AC during the summer time especially if people are stopping by to have hot foods and that is what they specialize in, hot noodle soups that is still delicious in the summer time but in the right temperature as well.

Updating my review since i don't think it's a true reflection of the value of this small local business. You don't really get the gravity of your review until you realize businesses are struggling to stay afloat due to xenophobia and a pandemic. I encourage anyone craving hand-pulled noodles to support this business! The owner takes pride in his noodle-making; it really is an art form and the owner's decades of experience surely helps. Their best known dish is the beef hand-pulled noodle soup. At $10 a pop for a hearty noodle soup, you can't go wrong.

This place disappointed me twice.. I got their dry hot pot once ($26) it include beef, chicken, lots of veggies, and fish balls. Half of the ingredients were in soup.. it was flavorless too. I had to add in sriracha myself to make it tasty. I also tried their peanut butter noodles and Fujian dumpling soup. The noodles were flavorless and there was barely any peanut butter in it, but the dumplings were okay. Overall, I won't return again.

The food was great and portion sizes were really good for the price, especially considering the prices of similar ramen places nearby. The service was fast and our food was brought to us within less than 10 minutes of ordering. Would recommend!

Stopped by here for a late night dinner and got the beef pancake, spicy beef tripe, smashed cucumbers, pork knuckle noodles and the beef stew hand pulled noodles. Beef pancake was pretty good and they did not skimp on the meat. Smashed cucumbers was absolutely delicious, so crunchy and really deep flavors. The beef tripe was OK, was not the biggest fan of the sauce they use but portion was huge. The noodles were solid, you could definitely taste it was made in house and they give you a good portion of meat. Service was friendly and space was clean.

Comfortable interior; really difficult to communicate; is fine for a quick stop if you're nearby! It's Chinese noodle soup, not ramen... The fried egg add-on would have helped.

I ordered the beef stew with sliced noodles, and overall it wasn't bad! The meal came with plenty of tender beef and the noodles had the perfect variety in size, which is what you would expect from sliced noodles. The price was also very reasonable. I just wish the broth was more flavorful, as it didn't seem to contain much seasoning, but they do give you spicy chili oil on the side if you want.

If you know what you want and what you want it a solid, consistent noodle soup, malatang, etc. this place is always good. Always open. And always reasonable prices. My go to is the beef noodle soup with shaved noodles. Undercover gem.

In china town this is average place to eat, but definitely it is not my choice. Sweet young lady is doing her best to accommodate customers. Bathroom is cleaner and better than most chinese places here in Chinatown. The best part here is the handmade noodle is fresh and the broth soup is hot and flavorful . I wish they keep the sauce bottle clean.

I didn't really have a bad experience my first visit here, but it really could've been better. My friend and I agreed to come to this place for a quick dinner after finding out that it's newly opened. The place had excellent decor and decorations. The tables were made of wood and there were porcelain bowls hanging from the ceiling. Totally added a more "Asian" feel to the place. We glanced over the menu and there sure were a lot of options. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. What caught my eye was the dry-hotpot section on the back of the menu. I was eager to try out some of their dry-hotpot options only to be disappointed when we were told that they didn't have such options ready yet. They also didn't have hot tea when requested. My friend and I settled for the "shaved noodles" as they called it. Instead of the usual hand-pulled noodles, shaved noodles are basically prepared by shaving away strands of dough from a bigger block of dough. The consistency wasn't there as some strands of noodles were noticeably thicker than the others. Overall, I believe this place really tried to be one of the better noodle places on East Broadway. They're a new business, and they're still learning. Even if it means not having everything on the menu ready yet. Even though my noodle dish did leave a slight MSG aftertaste in my mouth, it did provide a quick remedy for the chilly evening. Would I come back in the future? Probably. Probably not.

Rushing inside from the freezing cold outside. I just can't wait for this bowl of noodle. Overall I was a bit disappointed. I had the house special pull noodle and it comes with egg, beef and a slice of pork chop (super thin) The flavor of the broth is mediocre at best. Just because it's cold outside, I appreciate the warm this hot bowl is bring into my life at the moment. This place is semi pack and I like the decoration as well as the open kitchen. Price is a bit expensive for the area ($10 for a bowl of noodle including tip). I saw the picture for the dumpling and automatically said no in my head. The 1 less star go to the ambiance on this place. someone's playing this really really annoying show on the tv. (some kind of chinese youtube channel) Throughout my dinner, I had to listen to this super annoying sound and watch this stupid show. Remove that TV and get some real music please.

Delicious food, as good as anything I've had in China, reasonable prices - and an atmosphere that takes me back to a hundred places I've been in China. Nostalgic on both the eyes and the taste buds. Loved it.

Had the beef soup, an order of shrimp fried rice and a order of dumplings and every single dish was incredible! The broth in the beef soup was extremely flavorful. It had a decent amount of beef, bok choy and a whole lot of noodles. It also came with a fried egg on top which really complimented the dish. The soup is incredibly huge albeit so I definitely suggest sharing this with a friend unless this is the only dish that you will be ordering. Now, I have ordered and ate a lot of shrimp fried rice in my lifetime but the shrimp fried rice here is (and I say this with confidence) THE BEST I have ever tasted in my life! It is packed with flavor and the shrimps are so fresh that you would have thought that they just fished it out of the sea and immediately cooked it for you! The only disappointment is that it only came with four large shrimps and it had me and girlfriend wanting more. The pork fried dumplings were cooked to perfection. They were very flavorful and not oily at all. The place is nice and comfortable. You can either go alone, with a friend or girlfriend or a group of friends. The decor is nice and the place is extremely clean. Probably the cleanest chinese place I've seen in chinatown. Oh just fyi, yelp saids that the location is located on 2 east broadway but the actual address to this location is 107 east broadway. Me and my girlfriend almost ate in the wrong place because of this! Luckily I looked at the yelp pictures and saw someone took a picture of the front of the actual menu and it had the correct address on it. I don't know what's up with that but don't let the misdirection make you miss out on this beautiful gem in chinatown! I will definitely be returning back for more very soon!

It was a COLD and windy night in November. I was food hopping with a friend across LES and unknowingly, we wandered off into Ctown and ran into a big bright awning sign that caught our eyes instantly, " L..... Ramen". Really??? A ramen joint in Ctown? We immediately ran a background and credit check of this place on our mobile Yelp, but nothing showed up. The closest thing we could find was Lam Zhou Handmade Noodle... hmmm, do we have a knockoff here? No surprise there. We did, however, notice some decor by the storefront for grand opening. Perhaps that was the reason why we couldn't dig up anything on this place. So, a Chinese ramen joint in Ctown, why not? We felt like it was our Yelp duty to give all newcomers their fair and fighting chance to thrive NYC. As soon as we sat down and looked at the menu, we realized the so-called "ramen" was actually "hand pull noodle or shaved noodle". Lost in translation or a marketing gimmick? You decide. We both got the House Special Hand Pull Noodle as recommended by our waitress. The House Special came with beef cubes, mixed beef intestines, beef tendons and a mini spare rib (plus fried egg on top - complimentary I think because we didn't order it). The hand pull noodle was pretty good, other than that, it tasted like most beef stew noodle soup you'll find anywhere in Ctown. So let's check off Lanzhou Ramen, one noodle place down and 7,539 more to go.

I was really annoyed how the waitress asked me what I wanted to order in less than a minute I was seated, with my jacket and scarf still on. And the place was less than 50% full, so it wasn't like they needed to get rid of me to give other patrons space. Another thing that bothered me a lot was, we never got water or if we wanted anything to drink the entire time, even after our dishes came. Had to flag the waitress to ask for drinks. The food was mediocre. Big noodle bowl with lots of soup but not much noodles. Overall, this whole dining experience was disappointing and I definitely won't be coming back.

It looks like they moved to a new location and I've posted the new menus. This place is in the middle of heavy competition and I think they hold their own. I tried the HP noodle soup as well as the stir fried and I liked them both. The decor here is much nicer than most of the hole in walls around them and they only cost maybe about $1 more. There is a lot of seating so this is on my list in the area. Update: I saw soup dumplings on the menu and wanted to try it, but it seems like it's not available. I once again got my handpulled noodles with tendon and the tendon was a bit tough and rubbery..

There are literally like 5 or 6 of these types of noodle shops in my neighborhood but this spot is definitely the cleanest amongst them all. Mostly due to the fact that it is new. The noodles and Dumplings are decent. I actually like the decorations they have on their ceiling and the fact that they serve their food to you in Clay bowls and plates. Feels like an actual restaurant instead of a hole in the wall. Surprisingly, this place hasn't blown up with people lining out the door so if you want a bite, there's likely a seat available inside. The staff speaks both mandarin cantonese and English so language barrier ain't an issue. It is cash only for now I think so make sure you bring some cash with you before ordering your food. You pay after your meal like most Fujianese food places

I Ethan ordered a take out dish but when I went home opened it That is totally different from the picture shows on the menu I don't know why the chief cook in this way.the volume is just a little.

Noodle shop is economical and delicious noodle soups for lunch. They have a great selections to choose from the menu or recommendations from great staffs. I ordered the fatty beef noodle with spicy soup, just what is needed on a windy day. The portion is huge and fresh for the beef.

I ordered beef rib noodle soup and my mom shrimp noodle soup . Wasn't impressed at all. For appetizer was beef pancakes and dumpling - very unimpressive. The venue not very clean either

The food is not clean. Ordinary beef noodles contain fish bones and bones. I can't imagine how many types of animals cook its soup.

This little restaurant is a hidden gem. My husband and I travel to NYC often using the focus travel Chinatown bus, and whenever we are hungry we go here. Pictures is the thick noodle and scallion pancakes but it was way too much food! The hubby normally orders the ramen, and he's a ramen aficionado and loves their flavors. The staff is very fast and attentive, and we have always had an amazing time eating here! I especially love staring at the paintings on their walls!

#sendnoods Underrated, affordable, authentic, cute space. So many noodle options. I went with the mixed beef intestine and was not disappointed. Decent portions. You'll leave full(ish). It wasn't crowded at all when I went for lunch during a weekday. Go with a small group of friends. They have the table space for it. Can't really think of any criticisms. I'm trying to go back as soon as possible!

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! I ordered through grubhub and my entire order was wrong and they didn't give me any of the sauces I asked for. I called to have them correct my order and after speaking to me in English for 5 minutes not answering my question they say they don't speak English and hang up on me.

First off - this is NOT a ramen spot. I think there must've been some sort of confusion when they started the business and decided to label their noodles ramen as it's the "latest craze". This is your traditional Chinese hand-pulled noodle joint. I came here yesterday with my GF and we ordered the beef tripe and beef stew hand pulled noodle soup as well as an order of the pork and chive dumplings. The soup base was actually very good. It's a little bit on the light side but there's some hot oil/vinegar/soy sauce to season it to your taste. The brisket and tripe was cooked well and was very soft and tender. My complaint is that they didn't serve enough meat. The noodles was plentiful..but the meat to noodle ratio was off. Pork and chive dumplings was good...but $4 for 8 is a little steep considering you can get the same dumplings elsewhere in the neighborhood for cheaper. It is served with the sweet soy sauce. Service was quick and fast. Note that this place is shared table restaurant. You're probably not going to be seated when you walk in..so just take any available open seat. Food came out relatively quick and the waitress was polite and friendly. I did not see anyone leave a tip on the table but there is a tip jar by the cashier.

The good thing is that this place has HUGE portions and the food came out in like 2 minutes. I noticed that the noodles are thinner than what I see at other hand pulled noodle places. They didn't have a naturally spicy dish, but they give you a chili oil that has a pretty good kick on the side. The beef stew I had was a bit on the lean side and therefore stringier. It's OK, but don't expect anything amazing.

We were looking for another noodle spot but I think it's part of this one? Happy to have eaten here though - the service was quick and kind, and the food was flavorful and affordable.

Who can say why the English name of this place is Lanzhou Ramen - when the place serves noodles that don't really have anything to do with what is prepared in Japan? This brand new restaurant, with a spiffy interior featuring a stylized deception of making Lanzhou-style hand pulled noodles, seems a bit confused about its audiences. Its deep in Chinatown, over to the east and nearly nestled under the bridge. So there's not too much of a chance of scooping up the Canal Street walking tourists. But yet I'm given a fork to go with my noodle dish, and the English translation of the menu ignores translations like xiao long bao towards weird literal translations. It's easy to feel underestimated here. As for the actual food, that's much better. There's an appetizer section of the menu, but these are meal-sized as well. It's more of a clearinghouse away from the speciality noodle bowls. I got a shredded pork and noodle creation. I was expecting something Taiwanese, but this featured a fold over presentation and spicy sauce (you know it's very spicy, I was asked) that's something pretty different. At $5, it was economical meal. My advice is to lose the ramen in the name - it is bound to lead to confusion and disappointment - and play up the inexpensive and freshly made noodle onsite. And stop handing out those forks!

Ever wanted to leave a restaurant with your belly looking like a dumpling pouch? This is the place to be. Lan Zhou Ramen is almost always packed and has many options in sauce to pair with the dumplings. Not to mention the staff hand pulls the noodles right next to you (if you're lucky). *for the insta, the snap, and whatever the hell you use. The texture of any hand pulled noodles will always be savory and perfect, unless you get a noodle puller that doesn't work out Triumphing over many other similar restaurants in chinatown, this is by far a hidden gem that is easily walkable. All in all, this place is definitely worth the visit Pro Tip: has nyc ever made you feel broke and lonely? Buy their frozen dumplings and eat it for the next few meals and you'll save dolla on dolla

I am from China, and I was traveling with an American friend, and we both were like exhausted and just wanted to some home made comfortable food. Damn was so good, We have ordered marinated intestine, sautéed water spinach. It just reminded me so much of home! definitely taste like noddle place in my home city. I have ever left review for any place in the city so far. But it was freaking good. Keeping up!

First time here. I had the Noodle w/ Pork Soy Sauce (#8- $5.50) as appetizer and it came out fairly quick. The portion is big for an appetizer, I could see myself eating this as a main course.

I figured I would try this cute spot on East Broadway since it looked pretty modern and clean. It says ramen in English on the sign but in Chinese it says hand pulled noodles so don't expect it to be Ippudo up in here. Plenty of tables inside if you decide to dine in. Otherwise walk straight to the back and place your order. They speak mandarin here but understand cantonese. Decent prices and friendly service. Order the lamb noodle and oxtail noodle. Noodle was good. Just enough meat and nice broth to accomodate the meal. Loved the take out containers.

This place is so highly fancy prancy sassy classy sophisticated secret spot. Nice WOODY tables, extremely clean, chargers on wall for your cell phone n laptop use etc. bathrooms is spic and span clean mr clean pine sol style. Even has nice chinese bowls hanging on ceiling and tv. I highly recommend this place if u more money to drop for noodles compared to the original Waffle House one on 144 East Broadway.
