Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant in Flushing! The combo of that rich meat sauce with yellow peas is literally sending me to flavor heaven! And the spicy grilled fish is NEXT LEVEL!

Google
A truly underrated restaurant; it’s been recently renovated, and it’s always been around the corner for the past years. The taste and price are reasonable, and it serves authentic Sichuan dishes. One thing they can improve is the serving speed for hot dishes, but it is also not slow at all(about 10 mins for our case)

Google
Absolutely incredible dining experience at Lao Chengdu Spicy Food! If you're a fan of authentic Sichuan cuisine, this place is a must-visit. The flavors are bold, spicy, and absolutely unforgettable.

Google
Only got two things so don’t think I can accurately assess the food. I got the Sichuan beef noodle (soup) and spicy dumplings— Noodle soup: beef was perfect, super tender! Noodles were fine. Broth lacked flavor. Dumplings: were AMAZING! They were flavorful, juicy, and the chili oil was so good. I loved that the dough was thicker and not as thin too. Will return for these dumplings!! Even though the soup didn't blow me away, I felt like the workers were all really nice and again the dumplings were to die for!

They have a new team of chefs and new design. Bringing delicious Sichuan flavours to Flushing, New York.I ordered their specialty snacks and Hot chili oil, which impressed me, as well as their grilled fish, a delicious broth with crispy grilled fish

If you’re craving spicy, bold, and flavorful Sichuan food, this spot is a must-try! Here’s what I ordered: ✨ Sour Pickled Fresh Fish ($32) Perfectly tender fish swimming in a tangy, spicy broth with that classic Sichuan kick. Definitely the highlight of the meal! ✨ Spicy Cumin Pig Trotters ($18) Juicy and aromatic, with a satisfying chewy texture. The cumin spice blend was spot on! ✨ Sweet & Spicy Rabbit Bites ($15) This dish was a flavor explosion! The “strange flavor” sauce (sweet, spicy, and nutty) made it so unique. ✨ Stir-Fried Pork Chengdu Style ($18) Rich and smoky with perfectly balanced spices. A must for meat lovers! ✨ Hot & Sour Vermicelli Classic Sichuan comfort food—slippery, spicy, and with just the right amount of tang. A great side dish! This place brings a true taste of Sichuan to NYC—every bite was bursting with flavor. Highly recommend for spice lovers!

I recently dined here, and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The menu features a wide variety of authentic Sichuan dishes, and everything we tried was bursting with flavor.

It’s was fantastic, every dishes are great, it is the best spicy cuisine in queens! Don’t miss this place when you travel to flushing.

Yelp
their fish filet/beef in fresh hot pepper is a must order! I also used the soup to add boil noodle! Amazing!

Yelp
Spicy wonton was pretty good. Just on the salty side. One of the better tasting wonton in NYC. White Bear trumps this place though.

Yelp
why are they still open, the food is just horrible. Do Not order their steam spare ribs 粉蒸排骨,normally you will get from sticky rice with spare ribs and steam it. However with this place the rice is left over rice with some disgusting spare ribs. The service was so bad and no water and they charge you $1 for the left over white rice. I took a bite of it and return to the waitress because it was just overnight white rice and it smells. Please when you are around flushing, don't come to this place, it's pricey and disgusting and bad service.

Yelp
Ma La fish is authentic. We enjoyed our lunch very much. Went out to compare against another nearby that got good reviews but actually this restaurant is much better than them.

Yelp
This is the best Szechuan food i've had so far. The fish soup dish with sour mustard is delicious, their spicy crispy chicken, most of their dishes are delicious. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Went to eat at Lao Chengdu in Flushing on April 10th, took some food to go. When we got home, wife discovered a used cigarette butt mixed in with the food. Disgusting and definitely unsanitary, was at the bottom of the bowl. Would not recommend, no clue what they were thinking, will definitely report this.

Yelp
We were very happy to find Lao Chengdu open on Saturday night after a long drive from PA. It is not a big house, but plenty large for the three of us. Only one other table was occupied around 8:30, and we have plenty of kind attention from the server and manager on duty. The menu was bilingual with photos to make ordering pretty easy if you have any familiarity with Szechuan cuisine. We ordered four dishes: Fried Noodles in Soy, Sliced Beef in a soupy chili bowl, Chongqing Chicken (always a favorite), and Lamb & Scallion. All were very good to excellent, although truth be told, none were as spicy as expected as the flavor of numbness never occurred. Still, no complaints as our small crew had varying degrees of tolerance for Chendu heat. The chicken was the hottest with a load of red peppers and a few of the extra zesty star black peppers in attendance. Nice and crunchy, with peanuts galore. Loved it. The lamb was tender with only mild heat, but a nice contrast to the chicken. Very good. The sliced pork was likewise soft and moderately spicy, but not alarmingly so. Liked it. The noodles seemed handmade. They were thick and chewy, and the simple soy based sauce, delicious. Gulped them down. We sat around picking directly from each platter/bowl with our chopsticks until around 10 pm, when it was time for us to move over to the hotel for the night. Enjoyable repast and evening, with a solid dinner and service. Introduced my son to authentic Szechuan cooking, and he definitely had fun with it. As a semi-regular to Flushing, Lao Chengdu will certainly be on the list of quality meals when in the mood to start a small fire in the belly.

Yelp
To be honest, writing about food at a time like this is very hard. Debating which place has the best cupcake or whether the waiter was having a bad day or was born with evil in his soul just seems so meaningless when the world is such a dark place right now. But I've often found that the the breakfast/lunch/dinner table is the best place for great conversations and for everyone to not only heal but to also find ways to push forward. And restaurant reviews are great for sharing places to eat at and talk with important people in your life. /rant! Sorry for the touchy-feeliness of this post. My parents brought a haul of nearly half the menu from Lao Chengdu to my apartment for Chinese New Year lunch, takeout style. Here are the goods, ranked in order: (1) Diced chicken with peanuts and chilis (2) Water boiled fish (3) House fried rice (4) Husband wife beef tripe (I did not just make up this name - that's an exact translation) (5) Glass noodles in chili sauce (7) Crispy beef (8) Mapo tofu Everything was delicious but at the same time, everything tasted strangely uniform. The mapo tofu, husband wife beef tripe, and water boiled fish came with the same skin of red chili oil. The diced chicken and crispy beef were both slathered in the same non-descript and bizarrely tasty brown sauce. The house fried rice was delicious but nothing I couldn't shell out from my own kitchen (and really, I'm not tooting my own horn, it's embarrassingly easy to make fried rice). And just like when I always eat Szechuan food from the bowels of Chinatown or Flushing, I was thirsty for the rest of the day.

Yelp
I'll never forget my traumatic experience here. This place has ruined my love for Chinese noodles, we passed by this hole in the wall place in Flushing, decided to give it a try even though it doesn't look very sanitary, but we all have heard about these hole in the wall places often times have the best tasty food. what a bad decision.... long story short, the spicy Sichuan noodles were added extra "ingredients" .... giant black beans at first glance, and turned out to be huge flies, a total of 5 FAT & rounded flies in that bowl of noodles. We left right away and up till this very day we can't even think about noodles without feeling sick. Watch before you swallow!!!

Yelp
First, they don't deem 15% off deal from yelp. Don't even waste your time to try it. Second, most disappointing thing is that Recent dishes are more like soups of spices. It's stuffed with bean sprouts without meat. I thought it could be a one time thing that I just got unlucky, but it has been the same with my recent orders in the past three months. I feel like I bought a bucket of kitchen waste rather than food. A 31 dollar order is just enough food for one meal for one person . This is terrible.

Ping C.

Yelp
super salty $10 for half container of lo main. First time visit and the last time

Lena Y.

Yelp
Very disappointed. I ordered slice pork in fresh hot pepper and I got only a few pieces of low quality pork with mostly overcooked bean sprouts soaked in lots of hot oil. Mostly just oil....Lots of oil..No.real food. I wonder what happened to their food. I ordered the same dish to take out a few months ago and it was much much better. That was why I came back this time. Not returnig for a long time

Yelp
We were in the mood for some mala and came across this Szechuan restaurant. Since the restaurant was a bit run down and did not have much traffic, we contemplated on whether or not to try the place. After a few mins of contemplating, I decided to give the place a try. Am I glad I did. In my opinion, this not so chic spot was a hidden gem that will curb your mala cravings. We ordered chongqing chicken, fish fillet in chili sauce, string beans & bamboo, stir fry kidney, ox tongue and tripe, and spicy pork stew. These dishes really hit the spot and were generously portioned for the price. The string bean & bamboo (pleasantly different than the usual Szechuan string bean with minced pork), chongqing chicken and stir fry kidney definitely stood out and were memorable. If you are looking for some quality Szechuan food, I think this is the restaurant to go to if you are in the area.

Yelp
I will give it a negative star if I could. I only ordered one dish and it is enough for me to get out of my way to leave a comment. Ordered a $22 pickled pepper frog. I bet there is lest than 1 frog in it and it is very much over cooked. The cucumber is not fresh either. The entire dish has a very disgusting smell.

Yelp
I strongly advise you guys DO NOT GO to this restaurant!!!! My workmates and I ordered lunch today, when I was here for pick up, I ask the waiter, "the receipt in the bag, right?" after my question, the waiter's face became very angry and rude, he was yelling to me, "Why you do not tell me you need the receipt on the phone! It's very troublesome to give you receipt." How strange answer it is! I continue told him, "Every shops have their responsivity to give guests receipt, please be nice and profession with your guests." Then, he still keep his rude attitude with me, "this is all my attitudes to you!" Then gave me a informal handwriting receipt. I hope this guy can change his rude attitude, if this restaurant still want to keep more guests. But, I DO NOT GO BACK AGAIN, it makes I am very angry and sad. I am from Chongqing, China, this restaurant made my hometown's food, I do not want this guy continue to work here, if he still keep this unprofessional and rude attitude with guests, I think it will affront Sichuan people and food.

Yelp
I ordered food delivery. The rice stinks so I have to throw it away. And the taro chicken i ordered was too salty.

Yaping L.

Yelp
Fake ad, rude boss. They don't allow to use coupon. Don't go! The food taste bad. A $50 order is only enough for one person. Never come back!!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of authentic Szechuan, and I've tried several places in the area. This is easily my favorite. I loooove the little cold fishes they have as appetizers (dripping with chili oil), and the dan dan noodles are almost as good as Han Dynasty's. My favorite dish, though, is the wilted hot green chili peppers- I could eat them all day. Most of the clientele is Chinese (a good sign), and parking is very easy if you use the $3 garage across the street.

Momo Maoni Y.

Yelp
There are so many Sichuan food restaurants in Flushing, this one can be one of the worst. Their food is not fresh, I ordered the cold pot beef slices, the beef slices come in bad quality. I will definitely NOT recommend this restaurant, in addition the price on their menu is very expensive compare to other Sichuan food restaurant. Don't think this restaurant will last longer in Flushing.

Royal C.

Yelp
Delicious, I like spicy. especially steamed fish head with diced hot red peppers !(just waitting a little bit long time)

J L.

Yelp
This place has the best schezuan in New York. While it's not hard to find authentic Asian food in Queens, it doesn't get much better.

Jerry J.

Yelp
Very authentic Chinese food and so reasonable price ($16 each person). I went with three of my friends after 1-hour train travelling, but we think it worths everything! It's been such a long time since we had had authentic Chinese food.

Yelp
This one could be the GREATEST place to have some original Si-Chuan spicy with family in Flushing. Waiter/waitress was very friendly treat us like some old friends. We order a hot-pot and found all ingredients were fresh n tasty. Love their hot pepper chicken. Valuable price really worth the money. Can't wait to come back again with friends some other time.

Emil M.

Yelp
This is my favorite sichuan place in Flushing. The service is typical to any chinese restaurant, impersonal but quick and efficient. The food is high quality and delicious. I have been to several in the areas and this place really gets it right with just the right amount of variety.

Patricia H.

Yelp
Solid schezwan fare. I did not originally intend to eat here, but I found New World Mall a bit confusing since my Wi-Fi wouldn't work down in the food court. I was wandering around Prince street looking for Schezwan Mountain restaurant and finally settle on Lao Chengdu. Wasn't outstanding, but reasonably priced for Schezwan style dumplings and beef noodle soup. They seem to do a ton of take out. I would probably do take out next time.

Issac C.

Yelp
It used to be an excellent place to dine in, but not until recently. I personally quite disappointed of the overall of this restaurant. First of all, the food doesn't taste as good as the first time I ate. Somehow the portion of the meal is relatively smaller than before. What's the worst is the stupid ass face waiter. You will be seeing him every time there since the beginning of business (we went there in the morning and night time as well) . His attitude is the worst, and indeed a money face scumbag. When my girlfriend went to pay the bill, he already rounded up the total himself (included tips which was more than 15%). It is not like we are stingy people who don't give good tips, but tips shouldn't be added in by themselves without our concern because the amount of tips that we give should be based on what we feel about the service is, not because it is mandatory. That cheap ass clown even asked the girl who was in front of us where his tip was and that the girl said it was left on table. It is really disappointing and negative experience and we wouldn't want to dine in there anymore. If you enjoy Szechuan's food, I suggest you eating else where. There is one very good on Roosevelt avenue. The cook is very friendly and the food is way better than LaoChengdu. Highly not recommended!

Wendy L.

Yelp
It's definitely the most authentic Changdu place I tried in Flushing, definitely need be able to handle spicy food to come here. Price is reasonable, must try their spicy crabs.

Amy X.

Yelp
I have grown up eating at different Chinese food restaurants in Flushing, and this is definitely my favorite. I recommend the Chongqing-style chicken specifically (best one I've tried).

DreamHigh C.

Yelp
First time in my life being yelled at in a restaurant by a waiter! It's not about food.
