If you’re from one of the ASEAN countries, this store will have something for you. With the emphasis on Laos and Thai food goods, the store is packed with items not usually found in other stores. There are also some home goods, cooking wares and prepared foods available. The ladies who run the place are the best.

One stop shop for all your Thai fix. Can’t get enough of Thai dried red chilies.

First time there! Got a lot of goodies packed in there. Fresh Sugar Cane all neatly packaged in a refrigerated section. The selection of Asian Drinks I was searching for in another fridge section :) Rooster Siracha at a better price than Ranch 99, and it might be the original stock too with is brighter red color. After a nice chat with the lady shop keeper, I assured her I'll be back soon!

I get my Tapee Tea from here. They have the box version which has 25 packs for $35. The Tapee tea is used for inflammation omg other things butainly inflammation like gout. There other types of Tapee tea but this one has the ingredient black ginger which is the difference between the other two. There is a new Tapee tea out there that helps with inflammation, blood pressure, and diabetes/sugars and it also has black ginger.

Great selection of southeast asian groceries! The women who work there were very friendly and helpful, and recommended to us this locally-made ground chili condiment that is super flavorful.

Very friendly! Must visit again when I have more time as there's lots to see. They also had the Shrimp and Crab chips that I love.

I highly recommend this location. The young ladies are very kind and friendly. They are always helpful when I don't know what to get and recommend based on my preferences. I come here to get instant coffee, Chai tea, and coconut water.

This place is authentic as it gets. I needed to buy a mortar and pestle along with the stuff to make my sticky rice. I was able to buy everything here! And all for an affordable price. They have frozen food, produce, pantry items, medicine, and other imported items from Southeast Asia. I wanted to make Nam Kao and they had all the ingredients there. The aunties there are so friendly and were able to answer my questions (which brand is better, etc). At the register, they also have freshly made food for purchase. I always pick up a couple things to snack on and they have all been delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

I want to start by saying visiting an authentically cultured establishment can always be intimidating. I happened upon this store after reaching out in Nextdoor to find some items specific to Thai/Lao cooking. I was pleased to find out this place was very close to me. Anywho, I came in searching for the necessities to make authentic sticky rice and Lao papaya salad (thum muk koong?) please forgive me if I murdered that These two wonderful ladies working there understood my plight and pointed me in the direction of all the things I needed. NOW, I will say, I wanted to be authentic so when they moved me away from the singular ingredients like fish sauce and shrimp paste, I was a bit put off. But they pointed me in the direction of a premade bottled sauce that I could tweak according to my preferences. So...I'm gonna trust my new aunties this time, especially since I've never made anything Plan on returning regularly

I come here every so often when I need a few specific things. They have culantro, which I use to make sofrito. I can't find it anywhere else so for that they get a 5 out of 5! Plus, everyone I've interacted with here is very nice and friendly. They have a lot of good stuff inside and I love to support a local business.

Managed to get in early enough one day to get prepared food from a couple of different vendors. Wish I could remember exactly what I got, but I enjoyed the various things. Give it a shot!

I'm a Hmong person living in SF. I'll drive to this store along with the other international store sometimes for Hmong and or Lao ingredients. Two thumbs up. The people working here are kind.

It's a good Lao/Thai market in the neighborhood. They have a good stock of Thai sauces and spices, as well as cookware! - Lobo Seasoning packets for Laab, curry, etc - Pla Ra (fermented Thai fish sauce) - Golden Boy seasoning sauces - Ya-hom and other Thai medicines - Zebra Stainless Steel Spoons and spatulas - Kiwi knives - Mortars and pestles of various sizes for Som Tum - Thai floral enamelware (you see these all over Thailand) On the weekend they sell Laotian chili pastes, desserts, snacks and food. The only thing is that this market is quite cramped and it's not the cleanest. I wouldn't come here for fresh or frozen produce, just dry goods and the fresh food they make on the weekends. Check the expiration date for anything you buy here because some of the stuff looks dusty! The owners are a pair of nice ladies that speak both Thai and Laotian.

Lao Jaleune Market is the new name! This is a great market to find Southeast Asian staples which are pretty hard to come by in the East Bay. Was in Richmond today and decided to stop by to look for a few special ingredients. Walked in with my partner and after a confusing look around, one of the store owners walked up to us and asked if we needed help finding something. She not only helped me find what I needed but recommended ingredients and brands that they personally use and like. A+ for that ! The inside is pretty cramped and cozy with boxes and goods from the floor to the ceiling but don't let that deter you. They have all the frozen, canned, and dry goods you you'll need for any SE Asian recipe but lacking on the fresh produce, which they rely on local community growers to supply them daily with herbs and special veggies not commonly found at large asian markets such as 99 Ranch. Half of the store is also dedicated to household utensils and they specialize in SE Asian household items. If you don't live in or near Richmond, I'd recommend a weekend trip to the store. On Saturday and Sunday, fresh pre-made and pre-packaged food such as Kapoon, Kasoy, Papaya Salad etc... is available for purchase. I would definitely recommend if you're looking specifically for SE Asian ingredients.

This place actually changed their name to Lao Jaleune supermarket. It's a small place that sells mostly Southeast Asian foods. Friendly workers, cramped inside but they have A LOT of stuff. They have all types of sauces, instant noodles, beverages, home cooked foods, etc. My parents have been coming here for years for random things they can't find in San Francisco Asian markets and now I know why. I ended up grabbing 20pcs of nam (small ones were $1/ea!), and a lot of other random snacks. If you're Mien, it might be helpful to know that they also sell premade (home made) Khlung Fen, Kasoy, jerky, and fried fish among many other things. Prices are pretty good. Hours: M-Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-5pm.

I live in the East Bay and this is the only place I can find my Lao/Hmong ingredients. The International Lao market in Oakland is OK but I find it lacking in some things and is also very small! Lao Jaleung (the actual name of the supermarket) has everything to make Hmong, Lao, Thai, and maybe Vietnamese and Burmese food. It has your sticky rice, jasmine rice, fresh vegetables, longans, lemon grass, kaffir leaves, galangal, Lao/Hmong sausages, fermented fish paste...etc. It also sells traditional Lao cookware, joss paper, candles, Buddhist ornaments, shower buckets, brooms, cendol strainers... everything! The shop is also owned by two sisters that fled the war in Laos! They're so sweet and I always feel like I'm at home when I go into the store. Go support them!!

Lao Jaleune Supermarket is the name on top of the building. the hanging canopy reads "Heng Fath". offerings: produce in boxes in aisles, frozen meats/seafood in freezers, canned food products stacked to ceiling, drinks in referigerated section. products/grocery overwhelmingly for southeast asian patrons. drink: "honey bee" grass jelly drink. 11 oz(1) -unpriced, from taiwan, grass jelly ultra small cubes -31 grams sugar. drink on sweet side... take outs: -some groceries priced -some not priced. -expect to pay more here than at chain supermarkets -no parking available -store cluttered in aisles too. carts wouldn't be able to pass. even walking in aisles is difficult.....

Review #315 - 2019 I remember coming to this market with our mom every other week while we were growing up, when it was owned by the older brother. He was not the best salesperson, as he would sometimes over charge us on purpose. However, he did a better job at keeping the shop neat. Unfortunately, he was not very honest since he would continue to sell things that had already expired. Fast forward to 2019, I haven't been back here too often, but the younger sisters took over a few years back. They are much nicer & more honest, but the place has gotten really crowded & not easy to get around. I do appreciate that they are always willing to give their honest opinion on how certain items taste before I buy them. I usually only come out of my way when I am really craving something that I can't find anywhere else. Price is reasonable & service is friendly so I still come by whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

We were looking for Thai sticky rice. They had and all the utensils for cooking it. The aunties totally even told me how to make it in the steamer! Go check it out if you need Lao or Thai groceries!

Great little supermarket. Good prices with tons of local Thai foods and even some fresh vegetables and spices. Better than you can find at other Asian grocers in the area like 99 Ranch market which is mainly mainland Chinese foods. The only problem I see here is that many products don't have prices on them and they offer no receipt.

Lots of items. I can see some cobwebs on stock that hasn't been rotated but when compared to another Thai grocery store I visited in Cerrito, the selection is much better/more variety. However, there wasn't as many prepared entrees/meals available. If you're looking for Thai/Lao cookware like a huge mortar and pestle, come on over!

I'm quite a lucky girl....when Portland was my digs, i lived within biking distance to Vieng Lao... this, Heng Fath, is my 'Vieng Lao", my friendly neighborhood asian pick-up bodega...and without ever a need to get on the freeway and 3 mile it over to 99 Ranch (whose most frustrating aspect is the parking and the queues for paying). I've come whenever I'm riding on a wave of culinary motivation, experimenting and dabbling on the Asian side of things....and today, I awoke after work and needed some ingredients for stew stuff that i'm making. Well, thuh AAAAANK U, HF, for being my no-brainer go-to.... I've never been one to buy their fruits, as they are never appetizing enough to just sacrifice for convenience (on the other hand, I've been known to go and practice conversing in Espanol and head across the street to large El Campesino (the farmer) and buy them there (they have fresh tamales and also a meat counter in the back area. Oh! but this review is for the SE Asian diaspora's small biz endeavors....) Heng Fath has every sauce one would need to be culinarily deft around the Asian kitchen and palate. I always do little self-challenges/tests and decide upon an item in my head, and then go hunt for it. More than not, they do have it... the tops of the jars may be dusty, but they're in the inventory! There are all sorts of herbs needed as staples for the Asian pantry, leafy veg, tofu, frozen seafood, spices, dried goods, noodles, and RICE!!!!!!! Rice galore..... I've found some need rare items, like derivative taro stuff, and even bought my Mom some durian chips before! (oh yes, there's that stinky yellow oddball in its signature netting if you want the real olfactory challenge fruit). Handy! However, all in all, store is discombobulated (which I don't care a lick about). For me, convenience rules. Located on the west side of always busily traveled S23rd St. Traffic only runs north after a certain block; be careful! Understandably, most do not come if not local to the area. We all understand the reasons why...

Great Asian market in Richmond love the baggies of Kasoy noodles and kalang fen, best to get them in the morning, they also have a lot of yummy dipping sauces, fresh fried garlic, satay sauces... they has almost all the Asian ingredients that u need... just missing the meat department...

Summary based on several visits: --good selection of Thai food and cooking/serving implements, including, occasionally, the hard to find pea eggplant --ok service --cheap --ok parking on street Sometimes has random Asian veg in boxes on the floor leading to a what's-in-this-box moment and how would I cook it?

Amazing homemade, for reals, Lao food comes out of this tiny market. Best Lao style papaya salad, nam kao, kasoy ($1.50 per bag), sometimes this amazing beef jerky (dried then fried I think) and one type of Lao sausage. It's in the shady looking open top freezer in the isle at the store. The best one we've had is in a vacuum sealed bag. Also we have a tub of their garlic chili in our kitchen at all times. It's salty, garlicky and spicy. Amazing on Lao, Thai and Vietnamese food. Also good on scrambled eggs, any noodle soup and when the fried rice needs a lil somethin somethin.

Superb store catering to all and I mean all Thailand products. Picked up fresh Fat ice noodles which were a good price and delicious when cooked. Staff very kind and helpful. Looking forward to discovering more produce in this store.

This store has recently been taken over by Kho's sisters. I am giving them 5 stars because of all the major changes and improvements they have committed to the store. New paint, fixed appliances and wider variety of south Asian groceries. The sisters seem to be improving everything their brother was lacking! Great customer service! Both the sisters used to be cooks and can basically help thou put together a traditional south east asian meal. The store gives off a traditional nostalgic "homey" vibe that one may get entering a Lao or Hmong household. Traditional music also seems to playing throughout the day. If your around the neighborhood or getting your car fixed next door, give them a visit!

Small hole in the wall market but has everything you need. They have a lady that delivers fresh kalung fen and kao soy around 10:30 AM and lots of homemade sauces and veggies.

It was a little cramped in there, but they literally have everything you can think of if you're craving for any Asian foods/exotic fruits. It's so convenient and they have a lot of affordable items. And it's only 5 mins away from my home which is perfect. They have great customer service, the owner was super nice and made me feel very welcomed. I'll definitely be back..

This is my mom's friend's supermarket where all the products are shipped from all countries. They do have some Asian drinks, snacks, ingredients, and foods. Most of them are American products but much more about Asian kitchen tools.

Made thai green curry last week. I got all the ingredients on Sunday at this local thai/lao grocery store

I do come here, but not as often as other Asian stores. They're ok, but they don't have much of a selection. The isles are so narrow and small, making it hard for people to maneuver around the store. A bit dusty which makes me wonder how old the stuff they sell are.

Very nice customer service, great selection of S.E. Asian everything. Lowest price on sticky rice 50 lb.bags anywhere. they've got it all.
