Part of a chain but still great for reliable Sichuan cuisine! We came for Lunar New Year, so it was understandably extremely busy, but we got seated quickly since we made a reservation beforehand. The workers were running around since it was so busy but still friendly and happy to help.
We tried to get a good variety of dishes: mapo tofu, chef’s special dry chili chicken, boiled sole fish fillet in spicy Szechuan sauce, hot and spicy lamb pot, fried flat noodles, and spicy and sour potatoes. They also had a promotion during the whole month of February that let us get a free serving of soup dumplings for the table! Chinese cuisine is best enjoyed family style so that you can try a bit of everything. Each dish was quite tasty and flavorful. Nothing was especially spicy, but the Sichuan flavors still delivered. The portion sizes were large, and the prices weren’t bad either. Our favorites were the dry chili chicken, which was extra crispy and peppery, and the boiled fish, which was tender and smoky.
Overall, Lao Sze Chuan has a huge menu with plenty of variety that will surely leave you satisfied in the New Year!
