"L’aparté serves modern French cuisine by Anthony Bâcle, who has travelled the world. Using Japanese ingredients and French methods, Bâcle conjures an eclectic blend of both cuisines, creating harmony with numerous ingredients such as bean-curd skin, miso and nori seaweed. Loire wines are stocked in homage to his native region." - Michelin Inspector

Very enjoyable big french dinner with mainly local n selected imported ingredients, very unique dishes perhaps bistro style. Some may prefer beef to venison. Nice brown crispy bread with hokkaido spread. Wide French wine list with even chef personal likes from Spain Portugal etc. Many wines by glass to choose from using coravin pours.

Absolutely a hidden gem! We had an 8 course dinner at this French restaurant in Kyoto. Every dish was impeccably executed, beautifully blending French culinary techniques with authentic Japanese ingredients that created a unique and memorable flavour profile. The creativity and attention to detail in the cuisine truly impressed us. Although this restaurant is tucked away quietly from the tourist areas, the journey to get there was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at L’Aparte. Chef Anthony, with his wife, have created a wonderful and intimate restaurant that was only exceeded by their wonderful food and conversation. His seasonally inspired cuisine is prepared with style, complexity and passion. We had the Chef’s menu with wine pairings and added the cheese plate. The cheese are all from artisan Japanese producers as are 95% of his ingredients. L’Aparte is an excellent choice if you are looking for French styled food that is inspired by Japan. A real highlight of our trip.

Excellent service, amazing food and great cozy ambience. I went for dinner with my son and enjoyed every moment of it. Starting from my wine, appetizer, main course to dessert , all the dishes were 10/10. It was so much fun to watch the cooking process as if we were watching art being created. This is one of our most memorable meals during the whole Japan trip. I highly recommend L’aparté to anyone who appreciates great dining experiences.

So happy my wife and I went here for our dinner date. This place is lovely - the food, the service and the atmosphere. Definitely adding this to our fave spots in Kyoto. Make sure you book the kitchen counter so you can meet Chef Anthony. Merci beaucoup!

High quality seasonal and local Japanese ingredients assembled with French sensibilities. Very intimate dining experience— I was able to sit at the bar facing the kitchen, where I got to chat with the owner as I enjoyed each course. Chef Bacle takes great care to explain each dish, as well as each wine pairing, if you choose to indulge (highly recommended 😉). Would recommend to any travelers passing through Kyoto as well as locals!

Wish I could give it 6 stars. Spectacular food. Beautiful interior. Fantastic, attentive service. We chose counter seating by the kitchen as we like to watch the assembly of the food and chat with the chef when appropriate. We added a cheese course and we're so impressed with Japanese cheese. We ate the smaller lunch course but it was more than enough food especially with the cheese. The restaurant is hidden away on a side street pretty apart from the tourist areas, hence the name. The wine was amazing! One of the best meals we had in Kyoto. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! An exquisite find on a quiet street in south central Kyoto near Nishi Hogan-ji. Accomplished French chef, Anthony, and his wife and charming assistant Shouta, prepared a delicious and beautifully presented multi-course dinner for us. The menu is unique and thoughtfully crafted, even with clever names for each course. The room is comfortable and recently renovated. Each course was composed with care using high quality local ingredients and served on beautiful Japanese ceramic dishes. The chef is very friendly and multilingual, Japanese, French and English. After working 12+ years with the world-famous chef and restaurateur Alain Ducasse, he created his own lovely restaurant. While it is French and not Japanese food, it’s extremely well-executed and infused with the cultural essence of Kyoto and Japanese style. There is an excellent selection of wines available to accompany the food. The beef course was one of my favorite meat dishes ever, flavorful and delicate. There are many great restaurants around Kyoto and this is one of the best. Don’t miss it!!
