Exploring Swedish Lapland Through the Eyes of the Indigenous Community

"The nature camp is set among the rugged and mountainous terrain of the Laponia World Heritage Site, a 90-minute drive from Pittja's hometown of Gällivare. 'I have a little glamping place where we stay in traditional lavvu tents — but they are nicely fitted with heaters and beds and everything. From there we experience nature and the Sámi culture, which is best explored in the natural environment.'" - Travel + Leisure Editors

We just checked into the Aurora Glass House the day before yesterday, and I must talk about my experience. The landlord couple was very enthusiastic. When we arrived nearby, they drove a construction vehicle to greet us, which was a special experience. The scenery where the house is located is very beautiful and uninhabited. We had a very good time here and saw the aurora, the starry sky, and the moonlight. Although the room is small and there is no shower, it is clean, tidy, and warm. The breakfast they provided was very rich and healthy, with our favorite lactic acid bacteria drink. Thank you again for the warm hospitality of the landlord couple, and I hope we can come back again! By the way, the dinner has to be booked in advance, which we haven’t tried and this is my biggest regret.

Wow! We highly recommend Laponia Sky Hut. We had a wonderful, cozy and relaxing time. We were welcomed and greeted by the owners (Denise and Stephan). Hospitality definitely 5+ stars!! We were served a full (buffet style) breakfast that Denise brought out to us in the morning in her boat. And a delicious, homemade dinner that was also brought out to our Sky Hut. We sat and soaked up the sun on our personal deck while taking in the splendid vista surrounding us. (Expect the unexpected)

It was one of the best experiences I ever had. All in all 5 stars are not enough to describe the feeling the hosts, the location and the sky hut gave. In the time being there my girlfriend and me felt very welcome and more then just tourists booking a hotel. Thank you Denise and Stephan for the experience
