L'Arôme

"This gourmet bolthole offers a taste of happiness. Chef Kadoguchi delivers well-executed and beautifully presented dishes, alternating between Japanese specialties (gyozas) and French recipes (pollack, Provençal sauce) or mixing the two, as he does in his excellent picanha with Asian sauce. Harmonious textures and flavours, spot-on cooking techniques, a fine selection of wines and a perfect welcome – what's not to like?" - Michelin Inspector

Wow!!!! this was truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The preset menu exceeded expectations at every level. Each course was a masterpiece—unexpected textures, vibrant flavors, beautiful color contrasts, and stunning plating. The location might seem unusual at first, but don’t let that stop you. We love great food, and this place easily ranks among our top culinary experiences. This is a future Michelin star in the making. Can’t recommend it enough!

Lovely spot with great and efficient service. We stopped here for lunch and were seated without a booking which was super nice. The set lunch menu was €29 for three courses: an appetizer, main and dessert. Everything was absolutely delectable. Food arrived quickly but not too rushed. We had blood pudding, vegetables and seafood gratin, fish of the day and dessert. Service was very attentive and friendly. The food was very delicious with balanced flavors and artistic presentation. Everything was arranged on the plates very beautifully with attention, love and care. Thanks to the chef for great cooking and attention to details.

We had a lovely dinner for two here. The dishes were incredibly well put together and tasty, fusing classic French ingredients with elements of Asian cuisine. The staff were so accommodating to dietary restrictions (which we mentioned when booking), swapping out ingredients to make sure each dish was still complete and worked for a non-meat eater. Really great value for money. Extensive wine list, and the cocktail of the day was great. Wish they had an online booking service, as calling from London was tricky.

Deeply impressed about the quality of food. The exterior is simple. And the kitchen is totally contrary to the outer look. Crispy caramelized sesame on top of fresh beef, curry soup eating from outer sweetish to salty inner fish. Great idea deliciously

Really enjoyed! Initially caught our eye when reviewing 'best' in Dijon - lots to choose from! Only one menu, but went out of their way to cater for food allergies. I'm actually a big fan of very limited menus as they can be tailored to seasonal produce, significantly reduces waste and offers good value. Welcoming and very pleasant staff. Dishes were well prepared & presented with some fab flavours, and arrived at a comfortable interval to enjoy the evening. Very reasonable organic/biodynamic wines. All in all, an enjoyable evening that offer good value.

Not a children friendly restaurant, and not making an effort to be polite either - a very long way from Michelin. We visited Dijon for a weekend and reserved this restaurant for a dinner. When we arrived with two children (7 and 9 years old), we were told that we would have to take 4 menus as they can‘t offer anything else for kids, and all seated must take a menu. Therefore instead of selling two menus and some simple dishes for kinds, made from the same ingredients, we were left no choice but to waste food or leave. We obviously chose to leave. In addition, the atmosphere is sombre, space is dark and with no decoration whatsoever. I can’t speak about the food as we didn’t have any, but how ever it is such poor service should not be rewarded with a visit. There is plenty of better places in Dijon.

Set menu with 4 dishes for dinner. Extra large portions for all dishes scallop cod and veal. Optional Japanese fried chicken must have. Very good value for set and also some nice well priced wines. Service was fine but some may want more experienced staff.

Very nice place, cook is Japanese and every dish is special and tasty. Each of dishes is unique, with little Japanese accent. Unfortunately service is not good. Waitress is very rough. I hope owner will read this review and take actions against. One waitress is breaking level of restaurant. Not counting service - nice atmosphere. Prices are quite good, comparing the quality that you are getting. I will defiantly visit this place second time, hopefully the service will be better at that time. Ratings are below (1 - worse, 5 - the best): The overall food is very good - 4+/5. Service is bad - 2/5. Atmosphere is nice - 4/5. Prices of food and drinks are very good - 4+/5. Overall - nice experience.
