I know there's only 7 other reviews, and it's a new restaurant, and it's the Sunday after a holiday weekend, but it was just bad.
The timing of everything was weird, the food with a few exceptions was not good, and the entire restaurant vibe just seemed confused.
Restaurant presents fairly upscale - dim lighting, classy wall art and bar display, open kitchen, etc. the restaurant is fairly small and the bar runs along the length. There's TVs above the bar that had Sunday night football on with sound. Like it's an upscale restaurant that doubles as a sports bar? Again - super weird vibe.
So we sit down, get the menu, waiter is friendly- great. Promptly let's us know that at least a 1/3 of the menu is unavailable. Not great but also understandable, it is the end of a holiday weekend.
We order the cheese plate, the amberjack crudo, and the duck tacos to start.
For mains we got the gnocchetti, sugo, and pork two ways.
Amberjack crudo - I didn't try but others liked.
Cheese plate - basic but fine. There was a jam on it that was fantastic.
Duck tacos - good but VERY mango forward, not a lot of duck.
Gnocchetti - the server did warn that these are spinach based, which is fine. But it just wasn't good. They were mushy and just super bland. But also the sauce was super watery and bland.
When asked how we liked it, we explained our problem and he wasn't surprised to hear that feedback. We were the second table of the night to say something, and apparently of a several over the weekend. He did offer suggestions on how to make it better and brought out cheese but it just wasn't good.
Pork sugo- still just super lackluster and not great. It was just bland, with little sauce and bland meat.
The Pork Two Ways was Phenomenal! We joked that they brought it in from another restaurant. It was tender, flavorful, beautifully plated, and cooked perfectly. Best dish of the night.
We also got the Brussels sprouts which were fine/average, and the French fries that were okay.
As mentioned before, the timing was weird. We got everything and then the pork two ways came out significantly later. But worth the wait.
We did try all 3 desserts - and again, nothing to brag about. The banana sticky pudding was insanely sweet, and the chocolate ice cream it came with was really bitter.
The key lime beignets were pretty tart and while crispy on one side were soggy on the bottom.
The PSL redux though was an experience. I'm not sure what was happening with the budino thing on it but the texture was awful. It was like what you would get if you left a PSL in your car for a few days, and then ate the gunk at the bottom of the cup. So off putting.
I hope we just caught them on a bad night, but we won't be back to find out.
