L'Artista

My wife and I were expecting a good Italian pizza. Unfortunately, the pizzas were cooked in an electric oven, which in itself is not a major issue, although it does give a different flavour compared to a traditional oven. The margherita I had tasted as if it had been frozen and then cooked. The capricciosa was very chewy, almost like chewing gum. That said, I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service. The staff were polite and attentive. The prices of food was reasonable. In the end I was expecting a better food.

We lived near Watford a few years ago, and L’artista was always our favorite place to eat. It became our go-to spot for special occasions, casual dinners, and whenever we were craving truly great Italian food. I live near Manchester now, but recently I was visiting friends in the area and knew I had to come back for my all-time favourite dish – the Tagliatelle ai broccoli. It was just as delicious as I remembered! In fact, I loved it so much that I ordered a few extra portions to take home with me. I’m so happy to say that the restaurant still serves amazing food, just like it did years ago. The quality, flavors, and overall experience remain fantastic. L’artista will always have a special place in my heart, and I’ll definitely keep coming back whenever I’m nearby.

Had a fantastic meal at L’Artista in Watford! My friend and I shared a chicken pizza and the aubergine melanzane. The portions were generous, so splitting both dishes left us perfectly full. The aubergine melanzane was especially delicious, rich and comforting. A big thank you to the staff as well — they were warm, welcoming, and even halved the pizza for us without us having to ask. Really thoughtful service that made the experience even better!

A very large portion of pasta. They know how to bring out the flavor of simple ingredients in a dish. The staff comes over and asks if we want to sprinkle cheese on top - very nice!

We were visiting Watford for the WB Studio Tour (nearly 100 miles away from home!) and we were trying to find somewhere decent for dinner nearby, and we found this place (and were not disappointed). We came in as a walk-in on a very busy Friday night, and were seated promptly. Despite the sheer business, the staff maintained professionalism and quality of service throughout. We were even offered free limoncello to compensate for the long wait time (I had to say no as I was driving however the gesture was greatly appreciated!). The food was incredible as well - incredible quality, generous portions, and a great price. We shared the fried prawns in the spicy sauce as a starter, which was amazing. I had parpardoni with prawns and cherry tomatoes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My partner had chicken and mushroom penne in a cream sauce, and she loved it. If we didn’t live so far away, we could come here regularly. If I ever do find myself in the area again, I will definitely try to revisit.

Came back here for a half anniversary with my partner, coincidentally got the same table as originally which we enjoyed and giggled about. The bar had an accident (I guess) where the coffee machine sprayed a mixture of coffee grounds and hot water around. Unfortunately I was the main person affected but not a single staff showed care, attention or acknowledged the situation at all, they spoke to my boyfriend after I started crying, apologised to him but no one addressed me or my situation, nor did they offer a glass of water, keep in mind that my plate and the glasses were covered in grounds. My outfit was affected, my day was ruined and I haven’t even got a proper apology. Deeply disappointed with the restaurant staff as originally we received outstanding service and it has been a completely different experience. Will not return ever again. Very crowded. The food was nice and the waiting time was acceptable. We did get the meal for free but I wasn’t even halfway done with my meal..

Not a great experience. The calzone was way too big and had no flavour. The mushroom pizza was very watery. We've had better tasting pizza in pizza hut.

Excellent Italian Restaurant in Watford! This is a fantastic Italian restaurant with delicious food, generous portions, and great value. The flavors are authentic, and every dish is well-prepared. Service is very efficient, even during busy lunchtime hours. The fact that it’s always packed shows how popular it is with locals—I believe it’s a well-renowned spot in the area. Located in a very convenient spot in Watford, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for quality Italian cuisine. Highly recommended!
