Las Arepas De Maria - Review - Doral - Miami - The Infatuation

"There is a warehouse district in Doral packed with more vendors than your average food hall. Feel free to take a lap and peruse all the parking lot options, but don't leave without visiting Las Arepas De Maria, which makes some of Miami's top arepas. After you grab a seat here, an employee comes to your table and rattles off a list of all the arepa filling options, which requires you to pay close attention because there is no menu (although they are happy to help guide you to a perfect arepa in case you have the memory of a goldfish). These arepas taste homemade in the best way possible—fresh, hot, and with thin, crispy dough. Inside that dough can be an overwhelming amount of ingredients like carne mechada, jamón, reina pepiada, mortadella, cubed salchicha rosada, pollo mechado, queso blanco, queso amarillo, queso guayanés, and there are more but our memory isn't that great either." - Ryan Pfeffer

As a Venezuelan, this is the only place I eat arepas outside of my house. The best is the reina but everything is good. And if you are feeling adventurous try the colegiala.

Cashier "Maria" was rude and they didn't give me the order in the 30min they promised. After 50min they said they didn't have my order and taste was not good. For the price $40 for 2 arepas and a drink, they could have done better.

The crunch to these arepas is a real game changer! This was my first time here and when you first arrive you can already feel the authenticy with the music playing. These are true venezuelen arepas and and you can tell the owner knows what shes doing. Will be back soon.

Really good service, experience and really good arepas. Remind me my beautiful Venezuela. For some of you that might ask why there is not menu. That’s part of the experience combined with the service! Home made style and nothing compared to any of the commercial chains or “Venezuelan” arepas restaurant out there.

One of the best arepas I’ve ever eaten from a food truck was a classic “La Colégiala.” The first bite immediately transported me back to childhood, reminding me of family gatherings and the smell of freshly made arepas in my grandmother’s kitchen. The creamy “diablito” and cheese filling, perfectly seasoned, was balanced by the warm, slightly crispy exterior of the arepa itself. It wasn’t just the flavor—it was the pride of being Venezuelan, tasting something so rooted in our culture and history. Eating it from a food truck, far from home, made me feel connected to my roots, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia and pride.
