Google
I ordered steak chicken fajitas , came on the skillet with the plate of rice, beans , and fixings . I had a carnitas taco too which is not pictured but was delicious . I went at midnight and it was not too busy but open and good

Nadia Perez

Google
I only had the quesa birras and im telling you idk if it was just cause it was late and I was hungry but THEY WAS BOMB including the other items my family got the food was giving was it was supposed to give and staff is very patient definitely come here

Isabella Chiesa

Google
really delicious food with great vegetarian options! we ordered a wet burrito and veggie tacos. the staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a great vibe!

Srijana Srijana

Google
We ordered two burritos one California super and one super. The guacamole was basically just big chunks of avocado with nothing else and chips tasted like cardboard. The burritos were cold, I mean the cheese was ice cold. There was no salt or seasoning, and the meat was rubbery. There was foil wrapped into the super burrito. The burrito was 90% tortilla, rice, and cold cheese; they didn’t even get the beans I ordered right to start with. The other toppings were spread like a scavenger hunt. My stomach felt bad half way through and we had to bail.

Google
Food was great! Would say only thing is that the food is slightly expensive, but great service, great food overall

Google
Great place and authentic atmosphere. Dined here while passing through Berkeley with an empty stomach. So glad we chose here so yummy and delicious!

Google
I had the Chorizo and egg breakfast burrito. It was very good, very tasty, but light on the egg and chorizo. It is a huge burrito, eat half for breakfast and the other for lunch. There is plenty of seating, and it is very clean. The only problem is parking.

Google
The worst non refrigerated burrito ive had. They put f ing carrot in my burrito, its already bland enough. 16$ for the worst burrito ever! The last time i came here (a year ago) I ordered nachos and tacos with a friend, the nachos were soggy/mid and the tacos mightve given my friend food poisoning. This was the second and last time.

Yelp
Amazing super nachos! I live laugh love and breathe the super nachos. The carnitas super nachos really just hit the spot night after night, I would like to shake the chef's hand and personally thank him for creating the heavenly Super Nacho's, loaded with guacamole, sour cream, beans, cheese, and even a EXTRA bag of chips. I recommend ordering the Pina agua Fresca to go with.

Yelp
Good but not the best Mexican food in Berkeley. I got the Quesabirria and Al Pastor tacos. The consomé was lacking some flavor. Overall, enjoyable tacos. The protein flavor was good but nothing crazy. I paired my tacos with their pickled veggies. I love their pickled veggie and sauces bar. Really spacious interior. Food is ready relatively fast. Also, fun fact, Las Cabañas is a fan favorite spot for Cal Sailing team dinners.

Yelp
Food is amazing i ordered the chilaquiles but i thought it was hilarious the small amount of chips they give you especially when there's more than one person eating . Their salsa is very good though

Yelp
Ordered to go this time, had to try the super burrito. It's good fresh homemade food. It's lacking some flavor, but well worth the freshness. Love their shredded chicken it's good and guacamole is always fresh and green! Wasn't too happy with the chips but not bad. I Will definitely come again to try different things on their menu. The place is always clean inside, lots of seating and big screens TVS.the service is ok. You order at the front counter and seat yourself.

Yelp
My new favorite place to get tacos! I am obsessed with the Al Pastor and quesobirria. My mom loves the carnitas. They are friendly and quick. The food is consistent every time! I always get my food to go but there is a lot of seating and the restaurant is clean. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Las Cabañas is obviously a local's favorite, seen a bunch of folks just pick up their order. The food has that basic but great Mexican taste. I got the carne asada fries and my plate was full, I should have got a little box to go.. FYI. Go light on the salsa. A little goes a long way. But if you want more. The salsa bar is self-serve..

Yelp
Nina and I saw this place in a Chronicle write up of the best fish tacos in the Bay Area. It was amongst the top 10. We came here today for lunch. It's in the little strip mall on MLK where Ono Bakehouse was, in the block north of TJ's. I had passed by it when walking to Ono Bakehouse from the rooftop parking lot, which looked closed today, w/ grill-work grates closing off the entrance and exit ramps. I wanted to go to TJ's after lunch, so I parked in their lot and we walked over. There were several people at tables eating in and the restaurant looks like it does a robust takeout business, judging by the wrapped packages stacked on the counter. It's an order and pay at the counter type of place. Nina ordered first, two Baja fish tacos which come w/ chips and two cups to fill w/ salsa from the salsa bar. She ordered a pineapple agua fresca to drink. I ordered two Baja fish tacos as well, w/ horchata to drink. I took Nina's drink to the table and the sweet young woman at the register brought mine. We sat at a table that was half booth seating w/ the other half chairs. Nina went to get salsas and I went to use the single unisex bathroom, which was nicely tiled and immaculate. By the time I returned to the table our food was being served. The tacos were flour and they were generously filled w/ fried fish, probably cod, judging from the taste, topped w/ pico de gallo and a slice of avocado w/ a wedge of lime to squeeze over them. The tacos were so generously filled that we needed to eat some of the pieces of fish w/ a fork before we could close them. Although I prefer corn tortillas these were good, not too thick and I had the corn chips to give me my corn fix. These chips were thicker than the ones at Taqueria La Cocina, and lightly salted. We were both pleased w/ our lunch and will return. The space is beautifully decorated, w/ a colorful mural painted on the south wall, which Nina had as her view as we ate and talked. My back was to it. I should have taken a photo of it but didn't think of it until I got home.

Yelp
As a first-time customer, my experience was underwhelming. Upon entering, neither of the two employees at the entrance acknowledged me. After waiting, I had to ask if I should seat myself, only to be told that orders are placed at the front. I ordered a caldo de res and sat down, but the cashier called me back to ask if I wanted chips. She handed me a very small disposable container for the chips and an equally small plastic cup for salsa, about 1/2 of what can be found anywhere else and she pointed me to the small salsa bar. The soup had good flavor but was nothing out of the ordinary and smaller that most soups in San Francisco. The space was clean, with cute art on the walls, a single bathroom (lacking toilet seats and toilet paper). They have multiple TVs in the dining area which is convenient during a sporting event.

Yelp
We've eaten at Las Cabañas several times now, and it has been hit and miss. Things we liked: - They are open late. - Their carnitas is (are?) excellent -- tasty and generally good portions. - We've been happy with the tacos, and the burritos are decent. - The salsa bar Things we didn't like: - Our chimichanga had too much cheese and not enough meat. - The taco salad was too small and not special in any way. - They were out of sopes the night we tried to order them. The service has been adequate but not noticeably good. Parking is free on the street nearby. Value is acceptable. We have not had the chance to order their fajita special, which might be a better deal (it basically means a complimentary agua fresca with your chicken or beef fajitas). Bottom line: This is on our list of options, especially because it is open late, but we have already found better spots in the area.

Yelp
I have finally decided after the umpteenth time of coming to pick up food that should be ready and they just start making it when I'm literally the only person in the restaurant, I have to write a review about the service. It is terrible. All the employees are nice, but they don't know how to manage their time, orders, or the various apps they take orders with. If they weren't literally the closest restaurant to my apartment, then I would never be returning simply for the service. Food is delicious though when they get your order right, which happens maybe 50% of the time (they miss add ons or put stuff in you ask them not to put in). Please know what you are getting into if you order. Sadly, I will be returning as it is close, open late, and the food is good, but the service is severely lacking.

Yelp
This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in Berkeley. It is across the street from the Trader Joe's near Downtown so it is a bit of a walk from the campus. The restaurant itself is quite spacious and very clean (the bathroom is quite high tech I must say). The staff members are very friendly. You have to order in front and then they'll give you a number and you pick a table. I think their chorizo and carne asada are their best meats. I also really enjoyed their Baja fish tacos. They're pretty big. Also, if you're an onion person, you have to get their spicy marinated onions in the self serve sauce/condiment bar. It's quite spicy and refreshing!

Yelp
I've never been to Chiapas where the owners originate. It's a Mexican province right on the Guatemalan border, and a trip there probably won't be soon. Hell, I haven't been to this spot which is in that little shopping center at MLK Way and Berkeley Way. However, I should because it looked pretty inviting when I've walked by. Besides, they make good food with character. I ordered it for delivery and was pretty impressed. Of course I went with my perennial favorite, their $14.99 Menudo (photo: https://bit.ly/3yQIIMI), Tortillas included (photo: https://bit.ly/3n5LpHH). It had a real spicy kick like Michelle Yeoh in one of her early films or later films or pretty much anything she's in. As a temperate complement, I ordered the hearty $13.50 Chicken Salad with chicken, corn, pico de gallo, black beans, a sliced half-avocado, and a cooling ranch dressing on the side (photo: https://bit.ly/40idDgv). Good stuff and convenient. Yes, I'll stop by sometime, and they can sell me on a trip to Chiapas. FOOD - 4 stars...spicy menudo and a relatively healthy chicken salad AMBIANCE - n/a...I'll find out sometime SERVICE - 3.5 stars...well-packaged for travel TOTAL - 4 stars...Mexican comfort food done pretty right RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Here's a collection of places I've visited and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2QQ9Lmv

Yelp
4.7 stars!! We went to their re-grand opening!! Where they had $1 Tacos and it was delicious !! The fried fish taco was bomb! We will definitely come back soon to try their weekly specials and of course, the fish taco again! Great customer service!

Anthony S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. This place portion size was very small compared to before. The food is still good but the size is very small compared to the big price.

Yelp
Parking: SO HARD it's annoying lol it's on the street so be cautious of street sweeping signs Atmosphere: Many Seats, cute decor. Single bathroom. Open toppings bar (salsa, limes, etc.) Art wall had our attention the entire meal as it shows Noah's arc, and a dinosaur haha so fun ! Food: Delicious! Quesaabirria is amazingly flavored, tortilla/cheese is crispy and ooey gooey. Consome is packed with savory flavor!! Rice is seasoned well. Shrimp taco was delicious and the asada taco was nice. Quesaabirria was the star of the show! Service: Great, friendly staff. Prices: Definitely affordable/reasonable Overall: would come back for the Quesaabirria

Berenice L.

Yelp
Their carne asada and tripa nachos are both probably some of the best I've ever had, but during the past few months, the portion sizes have definitely gone down, and prices have slightly increased.

Alfredo V.

Yelp
A bit disappointed with the quality of my order. Heads up to any one ordering to go: if you can spare a minute to check your order, please do so! It was a huge surprise when I unwrapped my burrito from the foil only to see tortilla missing from one side and the remaining portion burnt! I normally don't write reviews but feel like others should be aware and are able to address it on the spot.

Yelp
East bay burrito review #12 First taste 6/7 Meat 5/7 Beans 5/7 Rice 4/7 Cheese 6/7 Tortilla 5/7 Avocado sauce 6/7 Overall 5/7 rounded down. The winner here is that tasty avocado sauce. Most of the other parts we above average. Would eat again.

Yelp
Very good tacos, very good food, Great costumer service, restaurant looked clean Will be back

Yelp
The baja fish burrito is everything!!! Had a lunch with a representative for work and luckily had the choice to pick out a place. The reviews on doordash looked good so everyone in my workplace decided on this spot. I had an agua fresca (not pictured) and a baja fish burrito. The agua fresca was huge. I thought I ordered a medium drink but seems like they only have one size? I honestly wasn't a fan of it because it tasted like cranberry juice. I honestly had better agua frescas elsewhere. However, it was my first time having a baja fish burrito. My curiouskty led me to having the best burrito ever! Paired with the green creamish colored sauce (unsure of the name), the burrito will make you feel so satisfied. While this was a regular size, it definitely kept me full for the whole day. I would love to come by here again!

Diana ..

Yelp
Pricey average Mex joint. Nothing special in terms of flavor or freshness -- esp compared to what Bay Area Mexican and burritos once were. Stingy with the salsa bar...they only give one tiny cup to use. Had to ask for everything including silverware.

Yelp
Las Cabanas is located on the outside of the Berkeley Plaza. It is a quieter area here. I am not sure if there is a parking lot - we ended up parking on the street about a block away. It is an order and pay first at the counter, then sit down kind of spot. They open late - they close at midnight every day. I tried their carne asada burrito, quesabirria, and steak fries. The food was not that great. The burrito was okay, but it was a bit bland and dry without any sauces. The birria was a bit on the greasier and saltier side. The steak fries were not as crispy and on the soggier side. It came with an order of chips and those were probably the best thing from here to be honest.

Yelp
Best latino food in Berkeley hands down if not then top 3 without a doubt. I know this from living in berkeley 25 years

Yelp
One of the best Mexican places in Berkeley! The shop has plenty of indoor seating and is never really packed. Street parking is available but may be hard to find. I came on Saturday around 10pm with a group of friends and we ordered through Snackpass! It offers 20% discount off your order if you have a group order of 4 people on the app. We arrived within 10-15min if ordering and not all the food was ready so service can take a bit for certain things. The carne tacos and churros were the first to be done. Then the enchilada plate and super nachos were last. We got these to go and ate at home but there was only one other group that was dining in and they came after us so the place was empty. Staff is super nice! They give extra sauces and complementary chips with your food order. Churros were filled with dulce leche and nicely warm, crunchy, and coated with cinnamon sugar. The ice it came with was melted so definitely not an order for take out. Super nachos were so good!!! It came with guac, beans, cheese, crispy chips, and protein. We chose al pastor and it was juicy tender meat! It was less than $10 after the discount so would get this again. Both the tacos and enchilada plates were both delicious as well. Everything was made fresh and warm!

Yelp
Burritos are not good I ask for chicken burrito's and they give me only rice and black beans and pico de gallo I don't recommended

Yelp
Another day, another shrimp burrito! Earlier this week, I was reviewing a shrimp burrito that -- although very flavorful -- was a bit light on shrimp. With Las Cabañas, I had the opposite experience. I mean, check out the photos of this burrito I got via Uber Eats. It was bursting at the seams with shrimp. I'm not exaggerating when I say I think there was shrimp in almost every single bite. I opted for no beans and ordered it super (guacamole, cheese, sour cream, rice). And if that weren't enough, they grill the burrito, giving it a nice toasty flavor and some serious grill marks. And they give you chips and salsa, too! The shrimp itself was perfectly cooked, and the rice and fillings were tasty without upstaging the shrimp. My favorite shrimp burrito in the East Bay? It's a strong contender, that's for sure. Someday I'll do a showdown of my favorite shrimp burritos, but for now, I'm just glad I have another delicious one to add to the list.

Yelp
Ordered directly from their website and had a promised time. When I came in they decided to start the order. I should have read the other reviews!
google avatar

Nadine R.

Yelp
I've only been here once but it might be the best spot in Berkeley for some good Mexican food, I love their tacos
google avatar

S B.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to eat here after seeing a couple times while in the area. Food was good. Service was good and yeah, you will stare at that artwork on the wall, lol. My friend who lives near here says he lives on their tacos. I could see that. Only bad thing is parking. But solid place to have some good Mexican food, we'll be back.
google avatar

Debra B.

Yelp
Real nachos, taste homemade in a GOOD way. Nice salad/salsa bar. Friendly and timely service. A little noisy at lunch time. Will definitely go back.

Rachel L.

Yelp
The food here is good, but it shouldn't take 30 minutes to make two street tacos. I'm glad this business is doing well, but please hire more people because this is nuts.

Yelp
I had this place saved in my bookmarks and just so happened to pass it. I ordered carne asada fries i asked for them to add cheese (strange to me to serve steak fries w no cheese likeee ?) so i had to pay extra for that i should've asked how much it was. I added guacamole as well. My boyfriend ordered the quesabirria combo. I checked online at the menu they should really post this updated one i've attached because my boyfriend only wanted two tacos and they changed the combo to 3 so you have to order 3. And all the prices are different. his combo was 15.99 and mine was 12.99 plus my add ons. My total ended up being 30 something. I gave her a $100 bill and it took her 5 minutes to give me change. i offered to let them keep a dollar if that would help her give me the change faster. They kept an extra two or three dollars. and i got 67 back. my boyfriend asked for a soda in exchange which she gave. My fries were extremely soggy like barely hot; basically undercooked which is crazy how you undercook fries ? if you can't do that right go out of business. i should've read the reviews first because someone else mentioned that as well. i only got the smallest line in the middle of my plate. Very stingy. barely cilantro and onions. it was bland. they also didn't provide me with any utensils. i know these days you have to ask at certain places but let it be known please. The boyfriend said the tacos were mid and greasy. came with no consume sauce and he asked for lite cilantro and didn't get any. also way more meat than cheese.

Yelp
I was craving for a burrito and wanted to try something new. This place has been saved in my bookmarks for a while now, so I figured that I would give it a try. I went through some photos and saw a photo of the grilled chicken burrito and decided that's what I would get. I ordered for Pick-up through the Yelp App and that was pretty efficient. Parking: 2/5 stars... The parking is such a hassle. As with many businesses in Berkeley, parking is very limited and everything is metered. The street was super busy. There is no parking in front of the restaurant. It literally took me 15 minutes driving around looking for parking until I finally came back around and someone left and moved their car, so I was able to park across the street. Food: The burrito was mediocre and did not have that authentic taste that I was expecting. I expected it to be more flavorful. I did not want a lot of rice, so I asked for light rice..... Well, there was so much rice in my burrito and only a few pieces of chicken. What I did like was that guacamole/avocado was included in the burrito. Atmosphere: 4/5 I really like the inside of this restaurant. I liked that there is such a wide variety of food on their menu. Overall: 2/5 stars I would give them a 2/5 stars. This is for the wide menu options. Maybe I will be back and try something new and update my review.

S Jade J.

Yelp
Yummy tacos at a decent price. (85 characters is a big requirement for this review of just two tacos.)
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Was sadly disappointed but this "super burrito" Over priced, 45 dollars for 3 super burritos and I guess they forgot the guac, cream, and flavor. Not to mention their salsas had no flavor
google avatar

Ben F.

Yelp
The ultimate 3-star restaurant. The service is okay and so is the food. The chile verde and shredded chicken are really good, but the carne asada is just fine. I don't understand why they put beans and rice in the breakfast burritos instead of potatoes? Really bizarre choice for a breakfast burrito in my opinion. Las Cabañas could be a great place if they made a few simple adjustments with the menu and service.
google avatar

Alexis K.

Yelp
This place is one of the few spots with decent tacos in Berkeley. That said, I got quite sick when I ordered from them. Additionally, they had a taco deal on their Instagram stating that they'd have cheap tacos for taco Tuesday, but when my partner and I went and asked about it, the person at the register had no clue what we were talking about. We found out that they deleted their posts about their taco Tuesday deals and they didn't create a follow-up post stating that they were no longer offering the deals. We didn't appreciate that since it felt a little bit dishonest and we were disappointed when we got there. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked to be pretty clean in the seating area at least, so I was a little surprised that I got quite sick eating their food.
google avatar

Wendy R.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in Berkeley. I love the quesabirrias and the nachos! Staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always popping!

John R.

Yelp
Verde Enchiladas were good, fresh. Overall it's a solid 8 out of 10. Portions sized could be bigger for sides as it was not a lot of rice/beans, maybe half a cup each. Will return as it was good food.
google avatar

Theresa S.

Yelp
If this place were not so far from my home, I would be there at least once a week. The rice beans and chips and salsa are always the ultimate test for a Mexican restaurant. La Cabana does not disappoint. the food is really good and the service is always pleasant and efficient. The ambience is pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, but it is definitely a huge space with a nice bar and nice stiff drinks. I recommend the spicy margarita.
google avatar

Brittany K.

Yelp
I tried to order a breakfast burrito with crispy bacon, but I received a carne asada burrito. I should have known to check the order because there was a clear language barrier. The burrito was large, hot, and absolutely packed with chopped pieces of steak. Unfortunately, I found almost all the meat to be really rubbery in texture and the burrito was almost inedible because of this (I threw most of it away). I liked that they include a small bag of fresh tortilla chips and delicious salsas. The red salsa was smokey with pieces of onion, and the green one had a great citrusy zest.

Muthubatcha P.

Yelp
We ordered Nachos, California burrito, Chile relleno burrito, veggie enchiladas, veggie quesadilla, tacos and they were all delicious. Pineapple drink was good. Salsa bar was bomb, so many flavorful choices . Service was quick and great. Safe and nice place to hang out and have dinner even later in the evening as it's filled with students from Cal
google avatar

Russ S.

Yelp
Exceptional food, service, value, and cleanliness. After the party, we went here for dinner, it was unbelievably fresh and tasty. P Try it, you won't regret it.
google avatar

Roy B.

Yelp
First time ordering from here, it was late and we were craving Nachos! They were delicious good ratio of toppings and well seasoned carne asada! Will definitely be in my top 3 for Mexican Restaurants!
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Food was fresh and came quickly. Pretty basic Mexican food place, BUT - they just redid the bathrooms and...WOW! Nicest bathroom in a "basic" restaurant ever! They had a disco ball/lights inside during the day that were a bit "much". Not sure what that was about. It didn't help with the ambiance, and actually was a bit annoying.
google avatar

Lydia Z.

Yelp
Very delicious food, decent portions just slightly pricey for a poor college student. They have amazing business so oftentimes my order (from snackpass) isn't ready on time. There is plenty of seating inside/outside but not ideal for super large groups. Workers are friendly and work fast i love the variety they offer!

Jesse B.

Yelp
My go-to taqueria for the past two years. Better than all other taquerias in a 4 mile radius, including Solano Ave and El Cerrito. I rarely go to any other taquerias anymore, no one compares and they are consistently 10/10. The staff are really nice, the salsa bar is the best in the area, they are very generous with salsa for takeout, and the burritos are LARGE with good quality ingredients, always fresh. You can't go wrong with this place!

Ricky G.

Yelp
I would say for being semi-hidden.. the food is great! The service is fast( when they don't have tons of orders) and the ambience is great!
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
Stopped by on a rainy weekend afternoon to satisfy a steak/carne asada fry craving and was very much satisfied. Complementary chips and salsa were a nice touch. The steak and fries dish was topped with cilantro, onion and your choice of white or orange cheese - simple, easy and delicious. Also ordered the churros with ice cream. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough ice cream. Happy to have stumbled upon Las Cabanas Mexican Grill and Taqueria and would gladly return.
