Las Carretas Mexican Restaurant

There is no better way to describe La Carreta Mexican restaurant than 5 stars. My husband and I had the chance to stop in for lunch today for the first time and had the honor of having Chuy, our server, serve us. His energy was upbeat, and he had a smile on his face, helping us go through the menu and find what works for us and our bellies. I got the burrito deluexe from the lunch menu, and my husband got the master burrito. The lunch prices are definitely affordable for Mexican food, and on top of that, they have fresh guacamole made right at your table with fresh ingredients. I swear, I have never had a fresher, more flavorful guac in my life. For drinks, I got the Jamaica, which is like a Hibiscus iced tea, and my husband got the horchata. They came in frosted mugs, which is amazing because I didn't have to worry about my drink being watered down. The food was hot and fresh, and we took full advantage of the salsa bar, trying so many; our favorites were the table-side one and the mild. After our entrees, we ordered the churros for dessert. They were so delicious, they came with 4 churros with caramel chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and what I believe was a sweet butter in the shape of a rose. The churros were hot and crispy, with a generous coating of cinnamon-sugar. The whole restaurant scene was very nice and friendly, and they welcomed you like family. I would recommend this to anyone in the Winter Park area because it's definitely worth it!!!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Las Carretas! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented — truly some of the best Mexican cuisine around. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and welcoming, making it the perfect place for a great meal. A special shoutout to our server, Leo, who went above and beyond to make our visit exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, checking in at just the right moments and making excellent recommendations. You could tell she genuinely cared about our experience, which made the night even more enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back — highly recommend Las Carretas, and be sure to ask for Leo!

Angeles was our waitress. She was very welcoming and very nice. Service was administered promptly and return visits from her to assure all was well was appreciated. I ate the the chicken &steak strips Fajitas and my wife ate the chicken Chimiganga. Our dishes held plenty enough to savor, for take home! I would say its the best service and Mexican food in Orlando,Fl.

Oh my gosh. I have passed this place many times, and never dropped in until tonight. First and foremost, our server, Angeles, was AMAZING! My husband is fluent in Spanish, and my Spanish is limited. She very eloquently addressed us both in Spanish and English - never making either of us feel less than… which sadly happens at other restaurants. And we also dined with our young boys, and the service was top tier. We felt like adults, while our children felt like children. The environment was perfect to enjoy both sides of our lives. So let’s move on to the food. DELICIOUS. Amazing flavor, and also delivered quickly. Color me impressed. We will be back!

This place is in an unassuming strip mall with inside and outside seating. Very clean inside with lots of waitstaff. Chips are delivered with a bean dip and they offer a salsa bar so you can pick and choose to your liking. Guacamole is done tableside and is super fresh. Food came out fast and piping hot. Very delicious. Margs are humongous so bring a designated driver. When you go ask for Maicol as a server - he was excellent and very attentive!

I had an outstanding experience at Las Carretas Mexican Restaurant in Winter Park! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. From the tacos to the chips, salsa, and guacamole, everything hit the mark. Our server Lina was phenomenal—friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Huge shout-out as well to JC, the manager, who was welcoming, professional, and clearly takes pride in running a great restaurant. Overall Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend!!

We had such a great experience at Las Carretas! The food was flavorful and came out quickly. It’s also dog friendly! A special shoutout to Chuy, our server who made the experience even better. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. On Saturday they had karaoke night.

Everything was amazing. Erika the waitress was onnpoint, from the get go she said to give us a bigger table for our order. The food was amazing.. las carnes burritos, margartitas are lovely. I enjoyed the dragon fruit with tajin! Definitely recommend.

Easily the best tacos I've had in a long time. Homemade tortillas, super-fresh ingredients, and perfectly cooked meat made every bite spot-on. The medium margarita was huge (plenty for two) and seriously good--bright, fresh lime and just the right kick. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

What an amazing spot!! We Love it here. We sat at the bar the first time and this time LEO was our server and she was super duper!! She was helpful and friendly and kind and it was such a pleasure to be at her table!! The flautas were amazing and the "medium" drink almost knocked us out it was so good!! The perfect tasting margarita!! We all definitely be back!! And please sit me at LEO's table always!!

Best Mexican eats in this whole town!!! Sit outside for a chill atmosphere...maybe a strolling mariachi...or some karaoke! The service may not always be the best...but the stuff coming out of the kitchen is totally worth the trip in.

Best tacos in orlando!!! And the service is always 10/10 this is my grandma and I's favorite spot especially when they have live music or a celebration going on! She loved the pina colada too!

The BEST Mexican spot in town! The food is fantastic, it's always great. Service is amazing and the prices are insanely reasonable. The burritos are to die for, and the enchiladas are a runner up. The manager is definitely running this show the right way. Las Carretas never fails to amaze me.

I absolutely love this Mexican restaurant in Winter Park. They have remodeled the inside to look even better than it already did. It's a perfect location and the staff is always kind and friendly. Also, the food always comes out quick and hot! I didn't personally get a margarita but they are HUGE!

This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The food tasted great with good size portions. We loved their free nachos salsa bar. The different flavors of salsa were fun to try. The bean dip on the table was great as well. The drinks are huge. I got the medium/large size but would have been good with the smaller size. Food came out fast. Looks like a fun place for birthdays- lots of people celebrating.

From making guacamole table side, to generous margaritas, our server Michele was exceptionally attentive. We also appreciated seeing the manager checking in with guests throughout the restaurant to ensure everything was perfect. Our experience was truly above and beyond expectations and delivered authentic Mexican cuisine at its finest. I have to give this place a 5 star rating!

The new design is modern, vibrant, and adds a fresh, elevated feel to the dining experience. Food: I started with the queso fundido con chorizo, and this dish never misses! The rich, melty cheese paired with the perfectly seasoned chorizo made it an instant must-try. If you love a good cheese pull, this one's for you. For my main, I went with my usual chimichanga, but I did notice the portion has gotten smaller. That said, the flavors still delivered--crispy on the outside, packed with savory goodness, and smothered in that creamy queso sauce. Served with rice, pico, and guac, it was a satisfying meal, just not as big as before. And then... dessert! The churros were golden, crispy, and coated in just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. But the real standout? The beautiful edible blue rose garnish--such a creative and Instagram-worthy touch! Drinks: A meal like this requires a margarita! I tried the mango margarita it tasted different from the original tasted like the mango were frozen I will say my drink was very strong which I like but it did taste like I was drinking only alcohol since the fruit was frozen. Service & Atmosphere: The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick with recommendations. And with the new restaurant design, the whole experience felt even more elevated. The modern, welcoming vibe makes it a great spot for a casual night out or a celebration.

David was absolutely amazing--warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive from start to finish. He made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable, checking in at just the right times and making sure we had everything we needed. If you're coming here, always ask for David. He truly elevates the entire dining experience!

I stumbled upon this gem while visiting a friend's neighborhood and couldn't help but notice the charming back porch lighting. My friend mentioned it was a Mexican restaurant undergoing interior renovations, so we decided to check it out--especially since it was Taco Tuesday! To my surprise, the renovations were complete, and the interior was absolutely stunning. The menu was overwhelming in the best way, and discovering a free salsa bar with 10+ salsas to try was an unexpected bonus. The service was quick and friendly, and the medium margarita was huge--but so good! I highly recommend the cucumber margarita. While the prices were a bit on the higher side, the speedy service, date night atmosphere, tableside guacamole, and that incredible salsa bar made it all worth it. I'll definitely be back to try more margaritas and dishes! Dare I say this is an authentic version of Chilis (vibe and food quality in all).

Wow! You guys! This place that's tucked away inside a Publix plaza is awesome! I can' tell you how many times I've walked by it on my way to get bagels from Brooklyn water and thought: "Huh... I wonder if the Mexican there is any good?" Turns out one of my friends absolutely loves their food so I had to go with them Sunday. It was 4 of us and the staff was super attentive. I had asked if I could try an agua fresca before committing to ordering it and I'm glad I did cause it was really sweet, if you like sweet, order an agua fresca. My friends ordered the tableside guac and shared it with us and it was so delicious! With those hot tortilla chips; I'm salivating as I think about it! I love a good taco salad and that's ultimately what I went with, asked for shredded chicken, it was spectacular, good portion size, great flavor. My friend ordered the Alambre which apparently is an authentic dish, she loved it, she was glad to try something new. The food arrived so quick it was kind of alarming, you usually wait at least a good 15 minutes but ours came out super quick! I don't think we even waited 10 minutes. Honestly, nothing but wonderful things to say about our experience, can't wait to try more of their items.

This is our now favorite Mexican restaurant. The service cant be beat. And the food comes out very fast no matter if it's busy or not. And the flavor and presentation of the food is wonderful. Highly reccomend for lunch or a date night. No matter when you go it's always great.

Erika was an amazing server. The good was great, drinks were delicious and the salsa bar is a nice touch. Will definitely come again.

Visited on a Friday night and the line was out the door. Yet we were seated within 2 minutes. The flow of people coming in was steady. The restaurant is huge and there is also ample outdoor seating. We ordered tableside guac - it was delicious! It is also a bit cheaper than most tableside guacamole offered at restaurants. Our server, Leo, was quick, helpful and very on top of things, despite how busy the restaurant was. It is a bit loud inside - very lively - but we had no issue talking and enjoying ourselves.

Went in to pick up lunch. First, big banner announcing their Happy Hour specials. As I entered I enjoyed the beautiful decor for day of the dead. Bar is located in back which I appreciate so kiddos aren't so close when enjoying that HH. Large patio to the side. As I waited for my food, I watched plates go by. Presentation was beautiful my to go order was also a good presentation. The only thing I didn't like, it may be my mistake, I thought it had Oaxaca cheese inside my Chile Relleno and I believe it was Panela which is my least favorite Mex Cheese. When I ordered 'Chiles Toreados' I was expecting just the sautéed peppers, the onions were a nice added touch. Definitely worth the visit when in Winter Park area.

This restaurant is located in a shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking. It open and spacious with plenty of indoor seating. They also offer outdoor seating. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Stef, was very friendly and attentive. Great music playing the whole time. I loved that. Chips are brought out to the table with a bean and cheese dip (a first for me). They offer a salsa bar for you to pick any of many choices and as much as you want. I ordered a classic margarita. Nice size. I definitely want to come back to try others from their large drink menu. We started with the table guacamole. It's prepared right in front of you. Wow, delicious! I ordered a steak fajita. Steak was well seasoned and tender. They serve a generous size of sides. It was nice to see a very friendly Manager, Pedro, walking around and asking each table if everything was good. Great service. We will be back.

Las Carretas recently remodeled their interior and also grew in size! My favorite feature has to be that there is a mix of booth seating open tables and outdoor seating. This was not my first time visiting and they don't disappoint. A newer offering that I noticed this time around was that there is table side guacamole as an option. I ordered the chimichanga and Agua de Jamaica as my drink. The staff is mainly bilingual in Spanish and English which allows for the flexibility in service. For your bill they'll bring out the portable card reader instead of printing out a receipt. Plenty of free parking available in that plaza as it never maxes out.

My favorite place for a taco salad! They have recently expanded by taking over the boba tea place next door and making that a part of the dining room which has given them MUCH more space by the bar. They remodeled the decor and design on the inside and I just love it! Modern and yet so very Las Carretas! The service is always friendly and fast! They have live mariachi bands weekly as well as table side guacamole. The complementary chips still have that expansive toppings bar in the central location on that inside. They have outdoor seating available as well. And let me tell you they need it on cinco de mayo! This place is a PARTY on May 5! I will always choose las carretas over other Mexican restaurants in my area and there are a LOT of them.

I rarely give five stars. Really exceptional. I consider chilles rellonos an "indicator dish". Seeing how a restaurant prepares it can be a strong indicator of overall quality. The chilles were massive and stuffed with a mountain of cheese. The refried beans were done in a different style. They had some kind of mild spice. The rice was very good. Service was excellent. Obviously a well organized and managed establishment. Highly recommend. My server was Matias. Very personable young man.

Had a wonderful experience yesterday. Came in with a large group and the staff knocked it out of the park. I loved the salsa bar. So much fun to try all the different flavors. I was amazed at how everything looked. We had a party of 20 ladies and everyone's dinners came out accurate and delicious. I had a chimichanga with beef tips. Beef was really tasty and worked really good with the queso sauce. I would recommend highly

So everything about this place was great EXCEPT FOR THE BARTENDER. I made a comment to the host stand as we were leaving it was that bad. We went in on Sunday December 15 in the afternoon time and sat at the bar. The bartender was a gentleman with a shaved bun style haircut and was wearing a black shirt. Probably some of the worst attitude we have ever encountered. He acted like it was such an inconvenience that we sat down in his section. I think he tossed a couple napkins our way and menus and then walked away for a while. Came back and mumbled "what do you want" we ordered , and he went away for a while. Had to ask the other bartender for water. The manger had to give us plates for our food. Wow , he was just so extremely rude . We didn't do anything but be pleasant. He should not work there and I hope management reads this Otherwise, the entire rest of the staff was Great. The food was cheap and decent and the atmosphere was nice. Just docked starts for the bartender. Won't go back when he's there that's for sure.

Great food, great service, fun lively atmosphere! It's kind of loud, but it's a big enough space that you can still hear your table mates talk. Great selection of margs and other cocktails. They also have a help yourself salsa bar! Our food came out fast and hot and fresh, delicious!

Ordered delivery and the food was really good. I thought the chimichanga was going to be a bit bigger than how it came as pictures made it seem to be but it was all fulfilling! All the meats were flavoral!

Love, love, LOVE this place! First time while visiting Orlando. Food is out of this world. Service is extremely quick and friendly. Making this a regular stop for us whenever we come to Orlando. Thanks to Cris for being our incredible server! They even offer a salsa bar and of course classic Latin music.

Definitely the most lively and entertaining Mexican restaurants I've ever been to! They had live music when we arrived with a singer going around with a guitar. It was very entertaining while we waited for our meal. The food was excellent! Instead of salsa for the chips, they bring a watery refied bean dip, which was pretty good. They have a great selection of sauces and their little salsa bar in the center of the restaurant. There's something there for everyone! My guess got the chili Relos and I got a beef tip chimichanga. The chili Rena was fantastic. It was extremely cheesy and fried to perfection. My chimichanga was wonderful as well ! The beef was extremely tender and taste like a well cared for brisket. This was our first time here, but it won't be our last!

we had a really great experience eating here! we were seated right away because we sat outside and it was a super cold night when we went but it wasn't bad at all because they had heaters! i think our servers name was emily i can't remember :/ but she was so nice and had our food and drinks come out super quick! everything was so good! we ordered birria tacos and a burrito! the portions were huge! for drinks we got a sangria and frozen strawberry daiquiri which was huuuuuuge jaja. i definitely want to come back next time i visit and try the guacamole i've seen so many good reviews about it!

My first time here and our server Maru was amazing !!! Good food !!! Loved the manager Liz came out and checked on us !!! Very clean and good lunch menu portions... and the top shelf margaritas were perfect!!! I will be back when I visit Orlando again!!!

We've been to Las Carretas a couple times now and have had a great experience each time. The first time we went it was packed at like 6pm. We were surprised to see this since it was kind of early for the dinner rush. Although it was busy, we were able to be seated right away. We were given chips and refried beans almost immediately after sitting. We didn't find out until we were signing our check that there was a salsa bar so we were a little sad about that but we knew for next time at least. Our server was attentive and friendly, even helping to accommodate my request for a virgin margarita. Speaking of margaritas, just a heads up....the "medium" is HUGE! You could wear the glass as a party hat! We were shocked to see how big it was! I ordered a virgin tamarind margarita and it was so good, there was muddled tamarind in the bottom. Our first experience was great so I decided that I wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday with them. I called and made a reservation with no problem. There were 9 of us in our party and there were other large groups dining at the same time. Again, service was great, our food came out quickly and they even sang to me and gave me a pink sombrero to wear for my birthday festivities. Now knowing about the salsa bar, we tried the various items available and enjoyed trying them all. I ordered a burrito and it was the full length of my forearm, needless to say, I had lots of leftovers. We are so happy we tried out Las Carretas, it will be our new go-to Mexican spot!

First time here , my brother recommended the place and took us. The drinks were really good , the medium size margarita is super big. The queso fundido was okay not the best I've had . Live mariachi was playing that day as well. Would go back .

I met up with a friend here for an early dinner on a Friday evening and got seated right away. We started with a pitcher of the pomegranate Margarita and oh boy was that delicious! It even had the pomegranate seeds in it which I love, plus sugar rim and a little umbrella. Also, we had table side guacamole, their bean dip, and fresh chips. I ordered the 3 carnitas taco meal that comes with rice and beans. The food came out extremely fast, and food was warm. The food was flavorful and plenty for leftovers. While the restaurant had great food and cocktails, there were 2 cons. We sat near the front door inside the restaurant and there were many flies that kept bothering us and we needed to keep waving the flies away while eating. I would try to place fly traps to prevent this issue. Also, while the service was fast, I felt like we were rushed. The server checked back many times within a 15 minute window to have us order while we were enjoying our margarita and guacamole first. We felt pressured to order quickly. Also, once done paying, a woman came around to clean the table while we were still sitting at it finishing our drinks before leaving. It felt like we needed to rush to leave.

I met a friend for lunch and she highly recommended this place. Our server was kind and attentive. My quesadilla Maria was outstanding! The beef tips were tender and flavorful. My friend loved her meal as well. The restaurant was very nice and felt comfortable. Some of the servers were helping a graduation party set up and they were so nice! It was a great experience!

Really enjoyed the food and service was excellent and extremely attentive from the entire staff. Love that they have a salsa bar to choose for yourself.

I was a stylist next door for almost 15 years we always needed something exciting to attract guest and this restaurant was a great fit! Everyone one knows be by name from the host to the bartender ! Always have delicious margaritas and great tasty food ! If you want to try a little bit of all the margaritas I would suggest the carretas float so you can a small portion of all of them before picking your favorite one ! Great place for celebrating and entertaining!!

I did go back to give it another try. This time I ordered out. The food was delicious. Whenever I feel like having a burrito, I will pass by.

I've been here so many times and the service is always so fast! This last time we were there we had Chuy as our server. He was quick and super friendly. The food like always, was super tasty. It was a little loud inside on Friday night with the live singer but it was still a great time.

Service on Sunday was awful. Food WAY too salty. If your food was good you don't need to oversalt. Terrible a year ago thought we'd try again.

First time coming here and wow amazing service, delicious food and drinks. Chuy our server was amazing ! He made us feel welcomed and was very friendly. He gave us a couple recommendations on the drinks which were delicious the mango margarita was my favorite. I loved the fact that they have different types of sauces on the side bar area for you try them with your tortilla chips. Chuy was attentive and great! his service was top notch and I made it clear we would come back for the food and drinks. Best Mexican food I've had so far while living in Orlando. The energy was great from all of the servers they even gave me and my friend birthday shots and sang us happy birthday ! There is lots of seating for everyone here. Spacious and cute decor.

The food comes out SO fast here! However, it gets extremely busy since the food is so tasty. If you have a large party you may need to wait for a table. There is also seating at the bar which is convenient. I always order the chicken quesadilla from the a la cart menu and it has so much chicken. Such great value. I also always order the chicken soup which is really flavorful!

Good quality flavor is amazing. Prices are pretty decent. Rations are good for some orders not all. What you pay for a chimichanga doesn't match what you get compared to every other Mexican restaurant I go to this is the smallest one I've seen, especially for the price . Three out of three times I went there. I got the wrong order after waiting a very long time only to get back a cold order because it was rushed. The original wrong order was nice, hot and well-made, but definitely not what I ordered. I will still keep going back because I like the flavor and atmosphere. Overall, they need to make these slight adjustments in order to keep the regulars as a regular customer because when I eat, I spend a lot of money and I don't mind. If I notice changes, I will change my rating.

The wet burrito was the bomb. Henri was a great server as well. Coming from California, I had thought that finding a great tasting mexican restaurant would be hard but found the diamond in the hey stack. This is worth flying cross the country for.

This restaurant is a solid choice for food and service. Having an excellent Mexican restaurant nearby is a plus. My only quibble is that the noise level could be mitigated. The food came quickly, which is always a red flag for me, but it was not so much in this case. The menu was overwhelming. Fortunately, our choices were all well prepared and delivered quickly. This place is a find. I'm a sucker for tableside guacamole and an open salsa bar is my jam. The costs were moderate, so having a nice meal on a Sunday that doesn't break the bank is a fair exchange for a busy, noisy restaurant.

Las Carretas made for a nice dinner date, immediately surprising me and my wife with its colorful ambiance and level of activity happening within the restaurant that made us more to be eating there. We were serviced by Chuy, who was an excellent server and took very good care of us while making sure that food arrived hot and that our dining experience was as pleasant as possible. I was initially nervous upon seeing the size of the menu, but my Mexican City Tacos were 10/10 (triple platter of tacos with each one contains different meats). My wife enjoyed a Flautas dish, and was immediately in love with her food. The variety of cocktails and specialty drinks looked fun, and they have a tableside guacamole cart that was a nice experience to view even a few tables away (and probably super delicious too). Enamorado con todo, muchas gracias para todo la experiencia.

The good: - The service - The free chips, the bean dip that comes with them, and the salsa bar! - The tableside guac - The food (not the best Mexican food around, but good!) - My mojito The not-so-great: - The singer on the patio (we sat outside, which was otherwise a pleasant experience) - The margaritas (I don't like margs, but those who ordered them said they were weak) - The awkward "give us 5 stars" card at the end of the meal - clearly provided to the servers by the restaurant (this is even more annoying at a restaurant that I've enjoyed) Overall, a good experience, and I would return if I was nearby and looking for dinner. Just wish restaurants would rely on the quality of their product instead of fishing for positive reviews!
