Detroit’s Best Taco Restaurants | Eater Detroit

"Gas station food culture is definitely a thing in Detroit and Las Cazuelas Grill in Southwest is among a cohort of metro Detroit restaurants that upholds that tradition. The restaurant’s tacos come with a choice of protein including steak, chicken, or marinated shredded pork. Everything is prepared on the flat-top grill behind the counter. It’s also a great spot for breakfast burritos. There are a few tables here for dining in, but this is mostly a to-go shop. Las Cazuelas has since expanded to other outposts including a standalone location in Southfield. Online ordering is available." - Serena Maria Daniels

The food has decent flavor, but the portions definitely don’t match the price. The tacos had barely any meat, and the "hot" sauce lacked any real spice — in fact, none of the sauces had flavor or heat, and they were extremely watery. But honestly, the food isn't even the main reason I’m writing this. I’ve been here a few times over the years and usually just let it slide, but my most recent visit reminded me exactly why I stopped coming after 2020. The service here is just terrible. I don’t know if it’s personal, cultural, or something else, but the staff — particularly the women — come off as rude and unwelcoming. I'm Mexican myself, though I don’t speak Spanish, and their body language and attitude made it clear we weren't welcome. My husband picked up on it before I did, and once I noticed it too, it all clicked. Between the dry tortillas, watery sauces, bland rice, and poor service, I’ve had enough. I’d rather cook at home than waste my time, money, and peace of mind here again. My own authentic Mexican food is much better anyways, I actually know how to make sauce and rice. 💋

Expensive tacos. Very sparse on protein. Shells are store brand, not made in house. Roja salsa was mild. Very friendly staff tho the steak tacos and chicken tacos aren't worth the visit. Pass.

I've been a customer for years like when it was on the other side of the gas station before the remodel and i constantly would recommend with that being said DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT I went two days ago and got 10 hard shell tacos a small nacho with extra meat and a side of beans and rice it was 29$ cool on Tuesday I called and asked did they have any specials going on for taco Tuesday she said 10 for 15$ okay cool I go order my tacos 8hard 2 soft it's 29$ so I ask like I just called you said 15$ she proceeded to tell me oh that's only for the corn tortillas (which she didn't say on the phone) atp I'm annoyed so I just take the receipt to the front and paid and left I was tempted to leave it on the counter and walk out never to return lol but honestly was confused on how I got way less food for the same price.

I remember this place being the Bomb when it came to burritos. My Uncle was one of their favorite customers, he turned me on to this spot and I loved it. The large burritos were so big two people could actually share it. However now the price is higher and the burrito is smaller they don't even cut them anymore...too small. They load it with more veggies now and very little meat. I probably won't be going back there anytime soon.

Menu says $3.99 for breakfast burritos. I got 2 and was charged $19.53 lol. 20 bucks for eggs that were way over cooked, brown, crunchy and dried out, hardly any meat or cheese on either. I was super disappointed. I have gotten Tacos and burritos before here that were pretty good. If you don’t speak Spanish beware, you may get ripped off. I won’t be back 👎🏻

I have been here on several occasions (already a good sign) and have always received freshly made, delicious food. It is clear they have a high standard for their food. the chicken milanesa is 10/10, top notch. very reasonable prices for excellent, high quality meals!

Good food, can be quite busy in the morning but the line moves fairly quick. Worth the wait. No "health food" here just good flavor Lots to choose from Not too expensive
