Detroit’s Best Taco Restaurants | Eater Detroit

"Gas station food culture is definitely a thing in Detroit and Las Cazuelas Grill in Southwest is among a cohort of metro Detroit restaurants that upholds that tradition. The restaurant’s tacos come with a choice of protein including steak, chicken, or marinated shredded pork. Everything is prepared on the flat-top grill behind the counter. It’s also a great spot for breakfast burritos. There are a few tables here for dining in, but this is mostly a to-go shop. Las Cazuelas has since expanded to other outposts including a standalone location in Southfield. Online ordering is available." - Serena Maria Daniels

I stopped here 1x and Ive been back 4 more. I live about 1.5hrs away but the food is always delicious at all hours of the day. The ladies cooking are kind and I havent had a bad experince yet. Dont let the fact that its inside a gas station deter you from stopping by please. The food is great and the DRINKS?!?!...Delicious 🤌

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I used to come to Las Cazuelas Detroit weekly for lunch and a quick bite, and their food was delicious every single time. It was one of my favorite spots for consistent flavor, fast service, and a warm atmosphere. It’s truly unfortunate that they closed their locations, because they were a gem in the community and always delivered quality meals. I really miss having them around.

It's in a gas station. It's clean tho! The food was delicious. And worth it. I got the chimichanga, half beef/chicken. And steak quesadilla. They both come with your choice of side... Rice or beans... Great value. I spent $23 total for both dinners.

Expensive tacos. Very sparse on protein. Shells are store brand, not made in house. Roja salsa was mild. Very friendly staff tho the steak tacos and chicken tacos aren't worth the visit. Pass.

Menu says $3.99 for breakfast burritos. I got 2 and was charged $19.53 lol. 20 bucks for eggs that were way over cooked, brown, crunchy and dried out, hardly any meat or cheese on either. I was super disappointed. I have gotten Tacos and burritos before here that were pretty good. If you don’t speak Spanish beware, you may get ripped off. I won’t be back 👎🏻

Been a staple to Southwest Detroit for decades.Always fresh , always great customer service , real authentic. Don’t let these gentrifiers tell you otherwise.

The food has decent flavor, but the portions definitely don’t match the price. The tacos had barely any meat, and the "hot" sauce lacked any real spice — in fact, none of the sauces had flavor or heat, and they were extremely watery. But honestly, the food isn't even the main reason I’m writing this. I’ve been here a few times over the years and usually just let it slide, but my most recent visit reminded me exactly why I stopped coming after 2020. The service here is just terrible. I don’t know if it’s personal, cultural, or something else, but the staff — particularly the women — come off as rude and unwelcoming. I'm Mexican myself, though I don’t speak Spanish, and their body language and attitude made it clear we weren't welcome. My husband picked up on it before I did, and once I noticed it too, it all clicked. Between the dry tortillas, watery sauces, bland rice, and poor service, I’ve had enough. I’d rather cook at home than waste my time, money, and peace of mind here again. My own authentic Mexican food is much better anyways, I actually know how to make sauce and rice. 💋
