"For an absolutely ginormous menu, head to this East Cesar Chavez joint, which is open until 2 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and 24 hours a day starting at 5 a.m. Wednesday. (Yeah, that’s a little confusing! Just go with it.) Order pretty much anything with chorizo in it." - Darcie Duttweiler

Hadn't been here in a few years, but my most recent experience here makes me question why. Incredible value for the amount of food you receive. Great staff as well. Will definitely be coming here more often now, adding it to my restaurant rotation.

Google
Great place for Mexican food! They're open late and are always welcoming. Their enchiladas are amazing and their mini tacos always hit the spot. They have little original plates too. Highly recommend this place.

Food is delicious although I got my order multiple times wrong the service was a bit delayed but food was worth the wait. Staff/waitress was very rude rolled her eyes at multiple clients

March update- Visited Austin with my family and decided to bring them here, it was disappointing that they turned us away because they were only accepting cash (we don't ever carry cash). Call ahead and save yourself a trip. Previous review- We were heading to another breakfast restaurant when we saw this one. We turned around and decided to go in. We loved it! The food is delicious and authentic Mexican. Service was a little rough and waitress was a little rude, but she was the only waitress for the entire restaurant and it seemed understaffed, so I guess it's understandable. I would definitely go back!

Google
So far so good . The prices are good. Lots to choose from. The menu is very large . Lots of alcoholic beverages to choose from. All priced well . Added a few photos. Didn’t get the whole menu but trust me . This place has lots to chose from. One of Austin’s secret destinations! Also it’s a 51% location so they serve drinks till 3 am on the weekends. 5.99 frozen margaritas all day!

Google
One of my all-time restaraunt in Austin. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, you get this sense of being right at home and casualness. From their food to margaritas, you can’t go wrong with the menu options. Their green salsa is the best one in Austin and their red salsa is most of the time warmed up and makes for a wonderful complement to the green. Their margaritas are an awesome price, super tasty, and very strong. They also have great micheladas which are very yummy and a big size! When it comes to food, my go-to item for every visit is their chilaquiles with red sauce. Their chicken enchiladas with green sauce are also super tasty, along with their sopa de fideo, tacos, and everything else you could order. Lastly, they are open late which is a bonus for all of the times you might be hoping for delicious Mexican food in after typical restaurant hours.

Delicious food. Super flavorful and affordable. Staff are very polite! 100% would recommend. Their salsa verde is the best I've eaten anywhere. Would also recommend their Jamaica.

Open 25 years? I have been in Austin for a very long time and cannot believe that I have never been to this restaurant. Especially since it is open late at night. We were looking for a place to eat after an ACL taping around 11 pm on a Thursday night. Their site says open till 2am. Las Cazuelas has an extensive almost overwhelming menu. My friend is a vegetarian so she has plenty of questions for the server. We both decided to try some of the New Original Plates. They started us off with chips and salsa. The red salsa was watery tomato and bland. The green sauce was thick and spicy fantastic. She ordered the Spinach Enchiladas which consisted of cheese enchiladas with a generous amount of spinach topping with rice and refried beans (which may or not have been vegetarian), salad and guacamole. The guac was pretty bland but it was pretty late at night. I had the Emolada Enchiladas. Five shredded chicken enchiladas swimming in a mole sauce. I didn't want to mess with rice and beans since I had filled up on the chips and salsa. The enchiladas varied with the amount of filling. The mole sauce was rich and chocolatey...just a little too sweet. Ended up taking a couple home because I was full from too many chips. Curiously! Pretty decent food, good prices, late night dining! I need to try them again but earlier in the day as I can only imagine how tired the staff must be by late night.

Yelp
My brothers brought their breakfast tacos back to our Airbnb for breakfast several mornings this past weekend, and everyone enjoyed them. At just $1.50 per breakfast taco, the prices are incredibly reasonable. The portion sizes were pretty good too.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite place for taqueria brunch when I visit Austin proper. Why? Well, in part due to the comfort induced by repetitive good habits that is an integral part of the Human Condition. I first visited Las Cazuelas back in January after a bit of a bummer of an experience the evening before. The place was quaint, cozy and quiet. I was promptly greeted by a nice waitress who worked diligently with me so I could order my standard taqueria brunch (Steak, eggs & bacon (à la carte)). Okay, if I'm being honest, the first time here it was a pork chop instead of bacon, but you get the idea. I now come here for brunch almost every time I'm in town. They have good food, good people and good prices. It is surrounded by a lot of homeless individuals, but they come off as fairly harmless, and hey, that's life in the big city. So that might be a turnoff for some. But, for anyone with a basic understanding of Human Nature, this should not be a deterrent. In short, I highly recommend Las Cazuelas for some good classic taqueria brunch. Oh, and one more thing; they have some tasty salsas!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for Mexican in Austin. Such an under the radar spot that there is no line or wait for seats even on busy nights. Open 24/7! So it's a great late night spot to hit on your way home from the bars on 6th. Can't say the ambience is great but you don't need it to be at 2am Food is spectacular! Traditional Mexican food cooked perfectly! My absolute favorite is the Burrito Bombero. Once I found it on the menu I've never ordered anything else since. The sauces on it are amazing and I'm not even sure what they are. The chips and salsa are all fresh and perfect for munching on before your meal comes. Our last trip we tried the chorizo queso and flautas. Queso was delicious but didn't remain dipable for long. Flautas we're kind of dry but that seems to be common as far as flautas go. Still the meat and rice and beans were excellent. Margs are excellent as well and VERY CHEAP. Would give 5 stars but while the food is great, the service is not. We often run into slow service or mix up's while eating here. Not a huge deal usually but worth noting.

Yelp
Great place the real MEXICA hospitality estaba sufriendo looking for a MX restaurante con nuestra comida and it comes with pictures in case you are lost THIS IS A REAL MEXICAN RESTAURANT not like others claiming to be and not a single Mexican is eating there!!!

Heidi L.

Yelp
Awesome! ! loved the staff, the green margaritas, the green salsa is delicious! The spinach enchiladas and cheese! The bomb!!! Thank you to my boyfriend and the cooks! Five stars!

Sean Y.

Yelp
Landed late and this was one of the few places still open! Was created by the nicest waitress who looked like was the only worker there! Mostly empty due to the hour we arrived but service was quick, the food was good, and the server was awesome! Had the gringo plate, Jamaica and a couple colas. The chips and salsa were good as well! If I'm ever in the area and looking for something late at night I won't hesitate to come here again!

Yelp
After a tiring day in Austin, my partner and I stumbled upon Las Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant for our dinner. It turned out to be a fantastic random choice. The restaurant had a pleasant Mexican theme, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. To our delight, we were greeted with complimentary nachos that served as a delightful appetizer. The portion size was generous, ensuring we had plenty to munch on. For our main course, we decided on the fajitas and veggie burritos. Little did we know that the serving size would be so generous that we couldn't even finish our meals. The dishes were packed with delicious flavors, truly capturing the essence of Mexican cuisine. Although the service was a bit slow, the wait was well worth it for the amazing food we received. Additionally, they offered happy hours, which is definitely something to take advantage of. I highly recommend trying their frozen margaritas--they're a must-try! Throughout our dining experience, the staff remained polite and attentive, ensuring that we were well taken care of. Their hospitality added to the overall positive impression we had of the restaurant. Las Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant left such a favorable impression on us that we would love to visit again in the future. The combination of delectable food, pleasant ambiance, and friendly service makes it a top choice for Mexican cuisine in Austin.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food! Breakfast was amazing! Friendly service. Prices are fair. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
The outside is not much to look at. Neither is the interior really but the food is delicious. I had Migas and they top theirs with an egg. Never had it that way before and it was awesome. We had a couple of Margaritas and those were awful. Tasted like lime juice from a bottle. Other than that if you need a late place to eat I would highly recommend this place.

J J.

Yelp
One of the few late nights eateries left in Austin. And for that I'm grateful. A rather traditional TexMex menu and well done. Entrees are served with the usual beans and rice and all we had was tasty and well prepared. The margarita selection is varied as it is in most Tex Max spots but we stuck with the traditional Rita (rocks, salt) and they were perfectly made and a rather generous "pour." ;) The service was very friendly and attentive but never rushed. Prices are very reasonable especially for the gentrified East Side. If you need to dine after 11 on the weekend and don't want Denny's I recommend giving Las Cazuelas a try.

Yelp
WORST TACOS IN AUSTIN Most the taco was onion and cilantro Do not go here , it was cold as-well meat had no flavor

Beca G.

Yelp
I've been here twice. Queso is not good (not sure how you mess up on queso! I ordered carnitas and they lacked flavor. The corn tortillas are fried. Why??!! I never My friend ordered fideo and it was greasy! How is fideo greasy?! The flautas are smothered with green bland salsa (not spicy) so it took away from the crispy flautas. They were soggy. Service is mediocre at best. Ambiance: it's freaking loud in there. It's not a club. Can't even carry a conversation. Will never come here again.

Amy G.

Yelp
Las Cazuelas disappoints more often than they impress. I should learn. They're a dive, and the food quality reflects that. However, you don't get a break with cheap prices here. The prices are still up on par with other, better restaurants. Here's what I got, and specifically why it wasn't good: Ponce's Combo, sub chicken instead of beef: Quesadilla: burnt outside . When they thankfully re-made it for me, somehow the cheese inside seemed burnt or had some dark mystery residue, even though the outside was under-cooked. Even worse the second try. Chicken: dry. This is (or should be) the star of the show. If it's not good, what are you really getting? Queso: faker than fake. I like fake cheese. I like queso made with American cheese or Velveeta. This wasn't that. This was nacho cheese sauce. Thin, bland, and the only taste was best described as chemical instead of cheese. Rice: over-cooked and mushy. The lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and beans were fine I guess, but they don't make the meal.

Sergio C.

Yelp
The worst service...I would give it a "0" from 5 stars, but the app forces you to "1". Waiter was nice, but pointless nice, no napkins, no water, no service. Literally I asked for water 3 times and napkins 3 times. Then when paying has the nerve to ask me if I drank anything!!!! Wow how can you operate like that. First, I was being super courteous being that it's Christmas. But then when I go to pay...you are on the phone with other co-workers. While everyone is "paying" for your meal and tips. I was going to tip you more than good too due to Christmas. But due to your horrible experience I only tipped a dollar. But honestly did it because I have class and even have a conscious. Don't recommend it. Don't bother. I'll visit this place in another 5-6 months from now and see if I was proven wrong, but customers save your money. You are better going to Taco Bell.

Soham R.

Yelp
This place has a nice Mexican ambience. Service is quick. The chorizo tacos were good but heavy on cheese.

Marlene A.

Yelp
If I could give it 0 stars I would. We ordered the chicken soup and enmoladas. Everything was super salty and unable to eat. We called the restaurant but they didn't do anything to fix the issue and they did not care either. Don't eat here, not worth the price.

Gabriel P.

Yelp
My family and I came here after a funeral that was literally next door since it was close and we were starving. The only complaint we had was the queso tasted like concession stand nacho cheese. Other than that the food really surprised me. The service was good so overall I'd say it was a good experience. Lastly, the price for the amount of food is really fair. Oh actually one more thing don't wait for the check you go to the window to pay when you're ready. Lol.

Nora S.

Yelp
I ordered food delivered via UberEats. I have been craving a chimichanga and thought I'd give theirs a try. Big mistake...huge. I don't understand how they could confuse a wet burrito for a chimichanga. The burrito was not fried. It was drowning in an orange sauce that they mistakenly called queso. The offending sauce was so abundant that the beans and rice were also floating in it. I tried to salvage the meal by pulling out the filling, but it was beyond salty. My husband had a dish with the same meat and his was not salty. I think they scraped up the last of the meat for me and the seasoning for a whole tray appeared in one burrito. My entire meal went into the garbage. I don't think I've ever had to do that before. There were other things that were below par, but I'm too tired and hungry to go into it. PBJ for me.

Bad Food M.

Yelp
It's not 24/7. Not sure why they can't get a decent website going to relay this info.

Diana G.

Yelp
This place was a waste of time and money! We got there at 12! The chips where bag chips and their salsa was watered down with no flavor. The michelada was also watered down and tasted old. The queso con chile was definitely not a pleasing one it was canned cheese with flavorless ground beef on the side and pico de gallo that look like it has been there for days! No napkins, our food came out at 1:15 only to be so disappointed at it we could not even taste the food because it was flavorless, and cold so we made the decision to leave. When we paid we had to wait another 10 minutes because they only had to waitresses and one cook and it was a packed house! The waitress did not ask us how was our food she knew we where not happy. We will definitely not be coming back to this place if I could give it a 0 stars I would but 1 star it is. I did not take pictures of everyone's food because we where so upset and we didn't eat much out of all the plates we ordered!

William G.

Yelp
Great food and kind people at Las Cazuelas Mexican restaurant. They treat you like you're at home and are very welcoming. Food was great as well! Great option in Austin.

James D.

Yelp
Not 24/7 not even close. Don't believe the hype they were cold and closed. Get your schedule right yelp

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Pretty good place! We came here on the recommendation of our bike tour guide. Definite hole in the wall vibe. We had pretty good service and the food was a good value. The prices reminded me of fifteen years ago. My husband loved his Al pastor and my mole enchiladas were also good. The mixed drinks were cheap and passable. My only hangup was the bathrooms were pretty gross.

M E R H.

Yelp
I usually never write reviews, especially not bad ones because I try to be understanding since I, myself, work in the same industry, but I've never had such a disappointing experience with a restaurant and their staff. After waiting for what we ordered, 2 quesadilla plates and 1 chicken tender order. My sister and mother were disappointed they had been here just a week ago and had ordered what they described as a very big and yummy quesadilla; What we got was nothing like that. To make matters worse the chicken tenders were nothing like the picture showed on the restaurant's menu; they were pretty much small nuggets and some even thin. The dissatisfaction on the poor consistency and quality of the food led us back in. ( We got to-go since were were working in the area). Once inside, the young ladies who had taken our ordered tried helping but were just not the best at it. They seemed to not know what to do or were maybe new. They decided to refund us, without considering if we wanted our food remade or not. I was given a cash refund which wasn't the amount I had paid on my card. I simply just wanted to get my credit card transaction voided but they didn't know how to do that, no one there knew how to do it, and there was NO MANAGER in sight , plus had said they couldn't give me all the money I had paid since paying with card has a service fee added to the total. I understood that, but it made no sense to charge me a service fee when I was getting a refund for returning the food. We decided to leave and come back once the manger had arrived as suggested by one of the ladies. We returned and there was STILL no manager. At that point the frustration began to build just because the ladies weren't able to handle such a simple task as voiding a credit card, no one there could help them, management seems to be nonexistent, and their poor professionalism at handling what would have been an avoided situation if a manager was there or they had been equipped with better training. Oddly enough, they handed me one of their cell phones which had the owner on the other line so I could talk to her... I just don't understand why I had to speak to her if, again, all I needed was my transaction voided. Everything was resolved, thankfully but I just think it's unacceptable how everything was handled even though it was such a simple task to do.

Fury P.

Yelp
so me and my mom went to this establishment and it was nice and charming local feel but sad we got there about 10:35amwe got our food at 11:00am not that bad of a wait ,the food looked and tasted canned my mother eggs was burnt and beans were lacking it tasted it was from a cheap can at the grocery store the tea was gross they need to clean it properly and red salsa needed more flavor or salt the potatoes were not fried or cooked on a pan like other Mexican restaurants these potatoes were like from a stew and they drained them and plopped them in a plate probaby the only tasted better is a can Diet Coke be warned

David M.

Yelp
We ordered delivery through an app. They didn't give me 4 tacos that I paid for. The chicken enchiladas had no chicken in them. It wasn't that there wasn't enough chicken, there was NO chicken. What we did received was maybe ok, but not good. Don't do it.

Shaelyn W.

Yelp
Great place for all meals. Delicious breakfast tacos with lots of salsa. Enchiladas were great. Authentic Mexican food.

Allison D.

Yelp
We stopped here for tacos and cold beer! We tried pollo Diablo and carnitas. Both were wonderful. Best red salsa and avocado crema that I've had during my trip in Austin so far. Large portions for small price! Would definitely recommend.

Brett R.

Yelp
Went out with a friend to celebrate finalizing my divorce, she took everything except my love for tequila. Breakfast tacos were good here

Louis M.

Yelp
I wish I could give an honest review, we decided to give this place a shot after reading some of the reviews. We came in with a party of 6, sat down right away. Another party of 3 came in followed by a different party of 5. We waited 10-15 minutes and not once did anyone come to welcome us, take drink orders or hand us menus. The party of 3 experienced the same issue we did, however the party of 5 was greeted, handed menus and placed a drink order when they had only been there around 4 minutes. That's when we walked out followed by the party of 3. We came to Cisco's and they accommodated very promptly.

Kyle S.

Yelp
Very surprising...give it shot, the street tacos were bomb . Food took a while but was well worth the wait.

Isabel P.

Yelp
This place is simply amazing, one of my favorite restaurants in austin. Very reasonable prices even with the drinks. My favorite of the drinks is the mango margarita, very hearty size and always hits the spot. All of the food is amazing, so flavorful and always comes with an extensive amount of sides. I 10000% recommend this place if you're ever in Austin, not necessarily the fanciest, but better than most other Mexican places you'll find.

Machelle L.

Yelp
Initially we were trying to go to Juan in a million, but I saw this place and it just stuck out to me. It's a cute little spot on Chavez with a small parking lot, but it was such a gem on the inside. My biggest compliment is the young lady who was working by herself. She was taking orders, greeting, handing out food, cleaning up, and checking out. She was on it and was still pleasant. She gave a big smile when we came in. She was awesome! The food was amazing. Their carne asada was so flavorful and spicy. I was in heaven. My husband got the super taco and the bistec was cooked with powerful seasoning and to a great temperature. I don't think I've found any other place with carne asada and bistec as good as this place. Their barbacoa was kind of bland, but I also I ate it after the carne asada. Could've just been the flavor differences. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Such a great place.

La P.

Yelp
This place needs new tables n chairs. They also need new table covers. Food choices are ok but service sucks

Bobby C.

Yelp
Unreliable. Forgot our order. Took 2 hours.. Didn't apologize. Place was dirty, no soap. Food was ultimately mediocre. DO NOT GO HERE

Silas D.

Yelp
This is my wife and I'd go-to spot for great authentic Mexican food. The portions are great and the staff is always amazing. My biggest issue is deciding on whether to try something new or get what I know to be good.

Brent T.

Yelp
I love this local spot on the East side. It's super authentic and the food is really amazing and fresh. It's actually one of my favorite spots on the East side. The staff is so friendly. I hesitated posting this release as I want it to continue to be easy to get into :) I highly recommend this restaurant as the Mexican Food is just amazing. My favorite is the burrito on the tex mex menu.

Blaine P.

Yelp
$40 for 3 average tacos, curdled queso that they let sit for 10-12 min before serving and a house margarita. Flavors were unspectacular and gringo-esque. Avoid.

Claudia M.

Yelp
Waiter was Awesome My shrimp cocktail was not at all Normal. Didn't eat it. They fry the chicken in same fryer as the fish so tastes like fish. Fish tacos are good though.

Emily R.

Yelp
There only being two tables filled should've been a huge indicator it was going to be bad. Our waitress gave us menus and then disappeared for twenty minutes, within those twenty minutes three other groups came in and ate their food and left or had just received their food. But still had no idea where our waitress was. It then took another hour for our food to come out. We ordered one plate ONE plate. Since the service had already been so slow. The menu showed being priced as 12.99. So please explain to me how we ended up paying 27 dollars when we ordered a water and soda along with that plate. And to top it all off we both are nauseous with fevers the next day. This place is a joke.

Cesar O.

Yelp
Came in looking for desserts and this is what I got. Mold was clearly growing from the chocoflan and tresleches cake. I will no longer come to this establishment.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Very affordable food here for big portion. The environment is not super nice but it serves as a place for you to grab some hearty meal for probably the best price you can find in town. Major tip is to bring cash because they charge for the use of credit card. They had complimentary chips with salsa and a green sauce that was interesting. The food was pretty good, it just takes a while for them to get it out.

Jesus G.

Yelp
The service at this place is TOP TIER! the food was great and so were the Margaritas can't wait to go back. Definitely recommend if you want REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! Unlike other restaurants that claim being "Authentic".

Mike P.

Yelp
This was probably the worse shrimp I have ever had. They were so hard and spoiled. It was absolutely inedible. I got tortilla soup here and it was full of zucchini. This place is the worse. I can see why I was the only customer there.

Jeannette S.

Yelp
The worst breakfast tacos ever!! Eggs taste old and bacon is all rubbery. Breakfast Taco

Kevin R.

Yelp
Me and my lady came at 11:50 pm and they still took us in. The food came in quick and was great. I'm addicted to the salsa verde. I felt like I was eating at my tias house it was comfy for environment

Roger F.

Yelp
Additional charges using credit card for payments. Prices haven't match with menu. Slow service and poor customer service. I don't recommend this restaurant.. you can eat in other Mexican restaurants with better service and prices

Lucia S.

Yelp
Excellente comida, los platos muy bien servidos y con buen sabor!!! Buen lugar para comer en familia. Uno de los mejores comidas a saber Authentico Mexicano.
