Grab Food From These Local Restaurant Drive-Thrus in Metro Detroit

"Las Cazuelas is a Detroit-based group of Mexican restaurants catering to customers looking for a quick meal on the go. While the Detroit location serves food from a gas station counter, the Southfield restaurant is a little bit slicker with indoor dining, a patio, and a drive-thru for easy grab-and-go ordering. Cruise through for orders of chimichangas, chorizo burritos, and botana. Online ordering is available." - Brenna Houck

Google
Food quality was decent, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The tacos tasted fresh with good flavor from the meat, onions, and salsa, but the overall experience was overshadowed by the high prices. Paying $15 for just five tacos feels excessive, especially considering limited customization or additional toppings. On the bright side, service was attentive and friendly. However, the expectation for tipping seemed unreasonable for a simple carry-out order. Atmosphere-wise, it’s nothing special—primarily geared toward takeout. Overall, I’d return only if pricing became more competitive.

Google
This place is awesome! Authentic Mexican food that tastes great. It’s a hidden gem in the local community. Highly recommend. Combo #1 is the tacos are fantastic. The nachos are authentic too. Will definitely be coming back.

Google
They had very good Tres Leches Cake... Until today. I bought two of them, different flavors and both were pretty bad. The cake was hard and solid, not spongy like a Tres Leches should be. It just didn't have the soft, spongy, honeycomb like texture. Keeping it at Room temp didn't help. It just isn't made the way it should be. Waste of money, time and effort in going to the store specifically for it. Extremely disappointed.

Google
Stopped by for a quick lunch and this place did not disappoint. Unlike most Mexican restaurants, the menu is very simple and did not overwhelm, which I liked a lot. The staff were very friendly, great service. Food was good got medium spice and it was proper spicy, which I enjoyed a lot. Will definitely be back again!

Google
Ate here with one of my good friends to catch up on life and we were so busy eating that it took forever to actually get back to talking! We ordered shrimp tacos, traditional tacos, rice and beans, and seasoned fries. Service was quick and the music was amazing. It was nice to hear some songs from my childhood. Highly, highly recommend.

Google
I ordered the Street Tacos because I didn’t see any recent reviews with pictures so I tried it. The presentation looked great but the taste-wasn’t of “street tacos”. The season beef reminded me of “spaghetti” (like a marinara). The onions and cilantro was fresh. I got a side of verde sauce and it was okay.

Google
Overall I enjoy the food at las cazuelas. I've been going there for years now, years ago the staff was part why I went, they were always friendly, I watched while they made the food, always something on the grill, cooking up fresh, suggesting food to try. After covid it has changed, staff are courteous but not friendly and efficient but robot like. Prices higher less food, and you have to beg for more than two jalapenos while they are looking at you crazy for asking. They speak Spanish to each other, I think that's kinda rude. But I do enjoy an occasional burrito bowl. And the tres leches cake is the bomb 💣!!!!

Fun restaurant with good food. Go to for fresh made Mexican flavors.

Yelp
Sometimes you have a craving or taste for something specific yet you do not want to get out your car. Hmmmm....Who has whole pinto beans and rice? Las Cazuelas does that's who. This location is in the City of Southfield on the main city thoroughfare of Evergreen Road. It is in a plaza just south of City Hall. You must access the drive thru by going around to the back of the building to place your order. The pickup location is on the north side of the building. The service was quick and my food was hot. The pinto beans and rice were delicious!

Yelp
We love Las Cazuelas for carry out; we're here all the time. We have gotten lots of things; our favorites are the wet burrito, shrimp tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas. Everything is always fresh and delicious; the rice and beans are perfectly cooked. We love having them in Southfield!

Yelp
Love this place, holding it down in the northwest. Friendly faces good service, beautiful ambiance and good food with good portions

Yelp
This order was delivered via door dash so my review will be on food only. I ordered a wet burrito . WET! I want to start with this info as it's super important. I have included pics of what's advertised on door dash by the restaurant versus what I received. There is some difference here. Aside from no lettuce, and no Guacamole, My wet burrito is dry!! I'm in of my pics i'm tilting the container so you can see there is absolutely no red sauce in my container. My tortilla may have been dipped in it, however a wet burrito should in fact be WET! The flavors are decent, even missing the items shown on the website. The size of the burrito is great as well. I just can't get passed the lack of red sauce as I truly wanted (and was craving) a wet burrito. Disappointed here

Yelp
The ambulance was clean, it wasn't a friendly staff. The food was bland I was underwhelmed. The sauce was also bland. Seeing Le Mujeres working, I had high hopes. After a few bites, I'd placed my food in the garage. I'm beginning to think there's no good or authentic food outside of SW.

Yelp
Little place in Southfield with festive traditional decor. The food is consistently good. Slightly pricey but it's worth it. The staff is very nice and the service is fast.

Yelp
Delicious! I really enjoyed my experience. Fun and fabulous colorful decor. I loved the gorgeous chandelier. Excellent customer service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. They have a drive thru too. Carry out and delivery options available too. Affordable prices and generous portions. Daily specials too. I had the Wednesday Flauta special tonight--2 Flautas with rice and beans for only $9.00! What a great deal! I got to pick my filling and I chose potato. I loved my potato Flautas! I also enjoyed 3 Traditional chorizo tacos. The tortillas are tasty and really hold their shape. Packed full of chorizo and topped with onions and cilantro. I also received sides of two salsas and sour cream. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Bland....no sour cream which was ordered. Not much protein and chips were stale. Needs spice

Yelp
Forgot to take photos! my coworkers got pollo tacos with lime they looked and smelled Amazing! I got a quesadilla and the cheese was Perfect! the ordering process was efficient and the pick up was right on time everything went smoothly. My coworker said its really nice inside I will have to go in myself and see it. I was very impressed on the quality from this area I wasn't anticipating that I would be blown away by the food here but its really good for this area!

Yelp
Very good. I ordered fish tacos with a hard shell, my daughter got mini chimichangas. Also got a churro and pineapple Agua Fresca. Was surprised by the filling in the churro, but still tasty. Agua Fresca was nice and refreshing. We were in town and took a chance primarily because they were close to our hotel and had a drive thru - good choice and we may go back tomorrow!

Yelp
This place is good for fast Mexican food. They have a drive thru window too. Everything is made in front of you. There are American or Mexican Mexican food. I have the tacos, fresh, salsa taste great with them. Friendly and fast service. I went in like 3pm so maybe that's why service was fast. Dessert is good too. Good spot in Southfield I take off one star is because I was so sleepy after I ate, usually that doesn't happen to me in Mexican food. Not sure what seasoning they been using

Ruby O.

Yelp
It was a good experience, the food was good, we ordered a burrito with chips, it was very big and filling. Me and my husband shared and we both got full. Nice quite environmental. Neutral costumer service. The ambiance was chill, comfortable. I would go again and I like that they have a drive thru
google avatar

Yelp
Food here was excellent and tasted so fresh. Grilled shrimp tacos and the rice and beans were made perfectly. The red salsa on the side adds a lightness and freshness to the tacos and has no acidic or preservative flavor in it! Perfect little authentic Mexican spot that I'll be frequenting more often for sure. I def recommend the grilled corn tacos and rice and refried beans. The interior decor is adorable and so festive. Love it.

Yelp
Looking for GOOD Mexican food especially BIRRIAs? COME HERE! I pick up from here about 2-3 times a week because the BIRRIAS are sooooo good! Due to covid there is no dine in. So call or order online to save time. You'll be so glad you did! I meant to post photos, but I ate it too quickly! I'll add them soon.

Yelp
Mexican food !! We had beers with Miguels Sampler and Tacos Mexicanos. Chorizo and Al pastor in the cantina classics were delicious. Never eat more of those salsa&chips which makes your tummy full.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
The taco salad was really good - the chimichanga was just ok (not enough meat and not crunchy). The convenience of a drive thru is nice - and I will definitely come back if I'm craving a taco salad. I will pass on the chimichanga though.

Yelp
We were looking for quick, delicious, authentic Mexican takeout and we found the perfect place. Las Cazuelas is conveniently located near 696 and the lodge making it easily accessible! We placed an order online and it was ready less than 10 mins later for curbside pickup. They also have a drive thru- but I'm not sure about timing for that. My boyfriend and I each for the Cazuela tacos.Since it was our first time, we figured we couldn't go wrong with a namesake dish. Boy it did NOT disappoint. I got the shredded chicken (pictured below) and he got the beef. They are house made tortillas that are rolled and deep fried . Served with toppings! rice and your choice of beans!! The salsas were also delicious and tasted homemade. The best part--The dinners were each less than $10! I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu in the future!! Tip- for Covid sake- you must order online for pickup or drive thru only. You can't go inside to order currently!

Yelp
This use to be one of my favorite local spots but I haven't been in years so I went yesterday because I didn't feel like driving to southwest. Service was good, restaurant was clean, food was decent but not as good as I remember. Chicken had no flavor neither did the beans but the one positive thing I can say is that I have a gluten allergy and they didn't cross contaminate or get me sick. If you like bland food this place is for you, food isn't horrible, everything was fresh so my only real complaint was the price of was pretty high for bland tacos.

Yelp
Wow, I can't tell if that review about asking for a burger was a joke of not. LOL. I love this place. I have eaten here several times, and I have never had a bad experience. I go in here for lunch a lot. Its usually packed for lunch, but they seem to get through the line quickly. My goto order is Enchiladas with ground beef. Love them. I have to point out that every time I have come here, everyone who works here has always been super friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Placed a group order for 7 people and the orders were messed up. We're very upset- especially with our veggie order. The box that was labeled "veggie" had meat in it. Since it was a burrito, my friend did not see the meat and she took a bite from it. This is unacceptable. I might be compelled to order again if this issue gets resolved....

Yelp
First of all; I was a regular. During the summer time when it's too hot to cook we'd stop by down the street and grab lunch, every time we did drive thru they ALWAYS forgot SOMETHING. Chips, gauc, churro, always check the bag before leaving otherwise you'll get home annoyed that you didn't get what you ordered. And the one time that you decide "I trust them, I don't wanna hold up the line" you get home and there's no gauc. So then you call up and the inside of the dining room is closed and it's lunch hour so the lines packed, either have fo eat your food without it or wait in line for 45 minutes to not even get a courtesy or something free next time. Just a "sorry about that". They also increased the prices on E V E R Y item that we like. In specific, steak is $2 more on top of the bowl price. And gauc is now $1.75 instead of $.99. It's literally cheaper for me to go to a steak house and get lunch then to get a bowl from here now. Think about that. Save yourself some time and eat healthier, get a steak from the place next door. It's the same price and you wont be helping the scummy owner to this place keep it running. Only reason this joint is still open is because it has a drive thru.

Yelp
I had lunch here today based on the good reviews i saw but i am sad to say it didn't really live up to the hype for me. It was still pretty busy for the lunch rush when we arrived around 1:15 but the line does move quickly. I ordered the fish taco lunch combo (2 tacos, rice and beans) and chips and guac to share with my friend. Here's what i liked: the portion sizes are generous, the fish was freshly fried for my tacos, received a big basket of really tasty fresh chips, and they let you customize what you want on the tacos. Here's what i didn't like: the service is a little unfriendly and curt (but i give them a pass since they were busy), and the guacamole had absolutely no flavor. I even added my own limes that were meant for my tacos and a salt packet to it and it was just blah. Really bummed because a lot of the reviews raved about it. Maybe i just got a bad batch? Same goes for the salsa. No flavor in the 2 i tried :( Overall i liked but did not love my experience here. I would probably return and try more menu items, especially the specialty items that are only available after 4pm. I would also try to visit when its not so busy so that maybe the service is a little more friendly :)
google avatar

Lisa F.

Yelp
I had the taco combo with shredded chicken. It was lacking some spice until I added jalapenos and hot salsa. There was not enough cheese for me in the quesadilla, but otherwise, everything was good. The portion was more than I could eat with rice and beans. My husband had a 10" burrito and it came with chips. I don't know what that seasoning on the chips is, but it is tasty. Oh, and LOVE the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine!

N F.

Yelp
Started off good then the quality slowly decrease. Flavor is good but when prices go up and quantity goes down, I'm done.

Yelp
This place is great!! The food is fresh and authentic!! I ordered ahead for my coworkers one busy lunch hour and I was able to walk to the front of the line. It was awesome because the line was nearly out the door!! They had everything bagged and ready and we ordered a variety of fare, from enchiladas, to fish tacos, to the Cazuelas Tacos (deep fried goodness). Everything was prepared just as we had ordered and was delicious!! The prices are very reasonable and most items can be ordered a la carte. The dining room has ample seating and there are also clean restrooms. I'll definitely be back for more! They also have a drive-thru and they serve breakfast burritos and coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
I visited Las Cazuelas just because I was driving by and wanted Mexican. The nachos were delicious and the soft shell taco was good. They have a chipotle ranch that adds an additional layer of flavor. The staff was very nice and made me aware of all topping options.
google avatar

Brandi N.

Yelp
The food is decent. It was originally much better. However, that is not the issue. The issue is it feels quite racist with their treatment of their customers and it has progressively gotten worst over time. For example, you cannot order items exactly how you'd like them b/c of restriction such as NO extra items on quesadillas. Another example, I last last week and 2 tiny salsas come with the taco dinner. I went today and I only received one salsa and asked for my second (very small salsa) and she said, "I'm going to let you have it today but from now on we only give one salsa per meal." What?!? Why?!? Ridiculous. Additionally, I asked for extra cheese (b/c you barely get any cheese on your tacos) and they charged me $2. That's disrespectful. I use to love this spot especially b/c I worked in southwest Detroit for years and encountered NONE of this foolishness. There other location does none of this nickel and dime nonsense nor do their restrict your orders or have nasty customer service. Suffice to say, when I compare/contrast the two locations it truly feels like the one in the predominantly black neighborhood is disrespectful to its clientele and racist. Unfortunately, I will not be going back and I genuinely hope that if this behavior continues that other blacks do not frequent here either. This establishment is underserving of our hard earned money. They should do better or relocate.

Yelp
So after a long hiatus I decided to try las cazuelas again after the owner had reached out on this post. I asked about getting the cheese melted between the tortillas again and the girl making them happily agreed. She didn't end up making them exactly as I requested but it was obvious that there was no longer a policy that actively forbade the melting of cheese on tacos and that was enough for me! The steak here is super tasty and so is the chicken. Edit: and now they made their fish tacos less than half the size they used to be while still costing over 50% more than their other tacos. When they were preparing I asked why the fish only filled out half the tortilla and they assured me this was the appropriate size for the fish taco now as they have made them smaller. I can understand them being smaller than before but this is absurd. It's not even half a fish taco.

camila k.

Yelp
For being a Mexican place, the food is very low quality. The staff is pretty rude, and can't understand orders if they are placed in a Mexican accent. The desserts are very low quality and extremely on authentic. The tacos are covered in a mountain of lettuce, cheese, and "salsa. " For being such low quality food, you would think it'd be cheaper.
google avatar

Nikki N.

Yelp
I ordered cheese enchiladas and a large salsa. After driving 30 minutes and opening my order I actually received chicken enchiladas. I called and they were rude and said I'd have to come back in and bring back the wrong order. I then opened up my salsa since that's all I had left to eat (I can't eat chicken). I opened my pint of salsa and it was actually some sort of vinaigrette. I called back to tell them my other part of the order was incorrect and they wouldn't even let me finish before cutting me off telling me I've already called and they already told me to come back to replace the enchiladas. Again, I was calling for the second wrong item, which was 2 of 2. I will never come back- horrible experience and even worse service.

Yelp
We met for our lunch break and wanted to try something different for lunch. Neither of us had been here and noticed that there were only three star reviews, but decided to try it anyway. We pulled up and we're a bit surprised. For one thing, there was a drive thru. So... Now we realized that it was more of a Chipotle or Qdoba type of a place. We had been wanting a sit down restaurant. But he needed to get back to work anyway, so we figured this may be perfect. We went up to the counter, and looked over the menu. The employee helping us had his mask on his chin. Which was enough to make me want to walk out. (if you aren't enforcing the mask policy, what other things are you skimping on?) We decided to get a combo meal and just split it. I never eat my full meal anyway so this is what we usually do. The combo included a quesadilla, a hard shelled taco, and a cordito. Plus beans and rice. You choose your protein, and then any toppings. We chose chicken, and for toppings cheese, lettuce, sour cream and of course cilantro... He can never get enough cilantro! The service was fast and polite. Other than the guy wearing his mask on his chin, the restaurant seemed pretty clean. It was a popular spot because people were filling it up as we were leaving. The food was delicious. I didn't eat the beans or rice but he ate it and had no complaints. Not sure you can mess up beans and rice. The rest was delicious. I could have probably eaten it all myself, but we are both watching our figures. So I was glad we split it so I wasn't being gluttonous lol.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican cuisine has always been one of the best ways to travel without leaving the country and these dishes provided me with the opportunity to do so thank you.

Yelp
I am updating my review. This place has went downhill. I live nearby and go here as a last resort. The service is bad and the people that run this place receives a 0 in Customer Service. Today I went in and wanted an enchiladas dinner minus the rice and beans. I requested to have lettuce, tomatoes, onions on top of the enchiladas. I was told they would have to charge me for a salad. Despite the fact that I was already paying for a dinner minus the rice and beans. This is the part that I don't understand. They should want to offer healthier options instead they want to make me pay for a salad. When they first opens a few years ago. I used to get my enchiladas this way all the time with no problem. Management, I am requesting that with people eating healthier erveryday to please offer this as an option instead of having to pay for a whole salad. If I don't want the rice and beans then adding a little lettuce tomato onions shouldn't be looked at as a separate salad.

Yelp
Loved this place. First time eating here will definitely return. Excellent authentic tacos.
google avatar

Yelp
Every time I call this place to place an order nobody answers. It says they're open but I've tried 3 times since moving to the area and not once even on Cinco de Mayo did anyone answer.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
All the employees wear their masks below their nostrils. The food is good, but they are set to spread this virus to a lot of people if one of them gets it.
google avatar

Ciara J.

Yelp
This restaurant has become my fav go-to Mexican spot! I have ordered carryout twice this month and both orders were accurate and delicious. I've turned my friend onto this place. I have ordered so many items --enchiladas, nachos and the tacos combo. All good options. Can't wait to order again...yum!
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
Looking for massive portions of good Mexican food? Las Cazuelas has got you covered. I was nearby for meetings and wanted some Mex for dinner and ended up here. I ordered chicken tacos with beans & rice. It was all very good, but be forewarned that you get a lot of food. I would almost recommend ordering 2 meals for 3 people and sharing. Also, the prices are really good for the amount of food you get. We ate in, but they seemed to be doing a brisk takeout business, so this place is fine if you are on the go.

Brad H.

Yelp
The food is outstanding I stop by whenever I am in the area sometimes I make special trips to the Southfield location. I wish they would do door dash again
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
I was typing this and I noticed someone rated this place low and asked if they sold burgers. Well.. that is kind of a dumb question. Hey... I wonder if they have shepherd's pie as well. lol. Okay, I know this is a Mexican restaurant and I can read menus. I have been here several times. A few employees use to mess up orders... They didn't get better, they got gone. Those mess ups were always caught by other employees. The ground beef and grilled chicken are my two favorite proteins (here). Come in... get a Mexican soda. Enjoy the casual dining experience. Décor: 3 out of 5 Food: 3.5 out of 5 Drinks: 3 out of 5 Service: 4 out of 5 Cleanliness: 4 out of 5

Yelp
Really really good food. And I love the huge, happy flowers in the lobby. The shrimp tacos are packed full of flavor. Hubby had the chicken quesadilla and he loved it. He ordered the large but next time he'll get the small, because the large is more than he could eat, and he tried. I got a bowl with all the fixings; it was delicious and I had left overs for lunch the next day. Yum!

Me M.

Yelp
Food is plentiful and quite good. Gotta bring your appetite when you come here or you take home tomorrow's lunch
google avatar

Nicole J.

Yelp
Had it for lunch at work based on colleagues recommendation. I will say its the best Mexican food in the area. But, it's also the only Mexican food in the area besides Taco Bell. I had the fish tacos, they only offer a fried fish option. I wish they was a grilled fish option. The chips didn't taste authentic and the salsas were a bit watery. Im used to Mexican town Mexican food so my expectation was high for a restaurant that's "authentic". My colleagues love this place so. I'd order again with them but not sure I'd go on my own otherwise.
google avatar

Mrs-Lawanda H.

Yelp
Pretty decent food. Great for carry out or a quick bite if you want to dine in. The wet burritos were good but the marinated chicken was on the dry side. Fresh guacamole is always a plus. I didn't like the small servings of sour cream. If you wanted extra you had to pay for it. If I wanted authentic Mexican but didn't want to drive to Southwest Detroit, then this would be my neighborhood spot.

Marilu R.

Yelp
This place is spectacular. The food has always been good and I wish they would expand. I have gotten them through delivery and also the drive-through. Sitting inside can be quite noisy at lunch on a weekday, but that is attribusted to the excellent food and amazing value. The specials during the week are well worth seeking out even if I carry out. i'd love to see them, expand their business and relocate to a bigger restaurant... Perhaps the one in Berkly that is so bad.
google avatar

Robbie F.

Yelp
This place is the perfect spot to grab a quick authentic Mexican bite. So quick that they even offer drive-through service. The ordering is simple. Stand in the line, order your food and they build it with your requested toppings. I simply love their veggie botana. The veggies are fresh and you even get to watch them put your food in the oven to bake the re-fried beans and cheese to perfection. The coolest part is their mini Coke Freestyle machine. Any place with one automatically gets my vote for their drink variety. Stop in and you'll be glad that you did!

Yelp
Love this place! We went in for lunch and the food was fabulous, our waitress Danielle was amazing, and the overall atmosphere was terrific! The taco salad is my favorite and it's consistently great!! Great place for an authentically Mexican experience!

Yelp
Nice decor, friendly staff. 3 Tacos were I would rate 6.8. Had the queso and chips. Chips were good. Queso was bad, definitely dont get the queso. I would change the recipe for that, tastes like its out of a can or something ended up throwing it out. Overall pretty good for a quick lunch.

Yelp
There are alot of restaurants in this area. I've lived here almost one year. This is the only restaurant that I patronize with some regularity. The beef tacos are my favorite. This is not Taco Bell. You get the sense that the meat is simmering in seasoning. Tacos are finished with a kiss of cilantro. This is a minor thing, but it's equally important. I place my order online and pick up at the drive-thru window.
